We were staying nearby and wanted dinner in a dog friendly pub so this ticked the box. From the outside, it looks like a fairly standard village pub. However, the menu was really good, far from pub grub but not gastropub either, just different things using local ingredients. For starters we chose the scallops and prawn bruschetta. I had the fish stew for main which was superb, partners fish pie was very good as well. Service was friendly, what’s not to like? We’ll definitely revisit when next in the area

This was one of our favourite meals when we were visiting last year so we made a point to visit again this year. We booked a table in the conservatory and arrived a little early but were able to be seated straight away. The waitress apologised immediately for any delay in service and let us know there would be a wait for food - no problem at all, and nice to be informed up front. We shared the surf n turf tapas for 2 to start, and had the crab and prawn salad (specials board) and black pudding pan fried scallops for mains - delicious and so filling! There was no room for dessert, but not only a good quantity of food - good quality as well. One minor issue with a piece of tomato in the salad, but hastily resolved and no impact on the meal itself - excellent service. Would definitely recommend a visit here!

The New Inn was recommended by our Airbnb host. It did not disappoint. It was hot and Sunny, so we sat outside. The staff were very helpful and warm. The food was terrific. My wife and I had a Thai red fish curry. Our friends had a fish stew and a Cajun fish burger respectively. The service was excellent. The food arrived in a timely way. The atmosphere was conducive to relaxed conversation and catching up. Honestly I can't fault it. We would all definitely go again if we find ourselves in Par.

While staying close by and having had a very expensive, mediocre meal we really liked the look of The New Inn for our next evenings dinner. Everything was delicious, garlic prawns with lovely warm bread, fish pie, pork sausages and mash all with tasty fresh vegetables. While not cheap it was worth every penny !! Thoroughly recommend the New Inn !! On top of excellent customer service 🤩

On holiday in Loswithial someone recommended this pub and restaurant. I’m so glad they did. We went twice and on both nights the food was so good. Menu is amazing , so much to choose from and all at very good prices I had fish and chips first night and the Belly Pork second night. Chef is clearly excellent. The pork was amazing. All served with fresh vegetables! Nice bright environment and the staff were fabulous. A young crew who were so friendly and ran the service excellently! What a nice change to find a place that is 100% perfect. Well done

Unfortunately for us we only visited on our last night. Lovely pub. Good selection of drinks. Dog friendly. The food was just perfect. Everyone's meal was delicious and as it was half term there was a deal on the kids dinners and they were great value and a generous size. The staff were brilliant and friendly and should we return to the area we will be back here for sure. Please use this pub if you are staying local. You won't be disappointed.

Popped in for an evening meal during a weekend away, booking advised, great atmosphere & very welcoming, there was live music during our visit. We opted for two meals from the main menu, surf n turf and pork belly. Excellent food & good service totalling just over £50 including drinks and a coffee, there is a fair amount of parking nearby. Definitely worth a visit.

the New Inn was close to where we were staying, other reviews were positive so we booked a table online. We originally booked for Friday eve, not knowing there was a band on that evening. The Inn called to let us know (which is really great proactive customer service!!) so we moved our booking to Saturday eve instead. Staff were lovely, food was good, with really generous portions. if we were local we'd definitely eat there again.

Nice traditional pub at the front with light and airy restaurant area at the rear. Staff friendly, polite and efficient. The food was very good quality, cooked well. The most delicious onion rings I've ever had, definitely not out of the freezer. Reasonably priced too. We are staying at a hotel nearby for a week and decided to go out for an early dinner today. This was the closest pub and seemed very pleasant, welcoming with a lovely large beer garden to enjoy the late sunshine. The menu and daily specials board were appealing and not overwhelming like so many are. My husband and I shared a double tapas to start which was delicious. I ordered a carbonara from the specials board and my husband ordered the pork belly for mains. Half way through the starter I realised I would struggle to manage a main meal so asked if I could cancel my carbonara only if it wasn’t too late. The staff were attentive and polite and after checking with the kitchen, confirmed that it wasn’t a problem to cancel. My husbands pork belly main arrived which looked like a dish you’d expect from a Michelin Star restaurant and it didn’t disappoint… I can definitely say that it was the most delicious pork belly dish we’d ever tried. Absolutely perfect 👌 we’re definitely going back again a few times in the next week that we’re here and will be back in the future.

Friendly staff, amazing food, plenty of choice and a huge beer garden for sunny days - top pick! We booked as we weren't sure whether it would be busy or not - we could have got a table on spec as it turns out, but it did get busy and we were able to choose which room to be seated in (we chose dining room, but on seeing it we asked if there was space in the conservatory instead and they were happy to seat us there - so light and airy in there). Food was fantastic - really. A good range on the standard menu and a huge board of specials. We had the surf n turf tapas for 2 (main menu), followed by scallops and sausage & mash (both specials) and it was flawless. We visited here after a trip to the Eden Project - an easy commute from one to the other, maybe 15 or so minutes by car. On street parking was available.

We had heard that this was one of the rare pubs in Cornwall that had Bass on tap. We had to make a 20 minute diversion to get there so to be sure I rang and was assured by a lady that Bass was indeed available. So we drove there and enthusiastically entered the bar with a big Bass sign- “Two pints of Bass please” Sorry we don’t have bass it ran out yesterday said the bar man. I said I had rung and confirmed just 20 mins ago that you had it on and we have come a long way. That cut no ice, ‘she should have checked with me’ he said. I’ve got Proper job. No apology, no have some nuts on us, no nothing- we walked out and retraced our steps. So the customer care is terrible. David

The food and service in this pub has always been good and why we returned this week. However after arriving at a pre-booked table to be told there is already at least an hour wait for food with the reason that they’re just really busy (not a power or oven failure) just tells me they’re not managing their capacity for delivering service. In current seasonal busy times a 30 minute delay for a pre-booked table would have been tolerated, but to be told ‘at least an hour’ (with that uncertainty) is not acceptable and we left with our money. I have sympathy with establishments wanting to recoup losses during Covid-19 by optimising on high numbers of ‘staycationers’ but don’t take table bookings if you can’t or won’t manage volumes which result in unacceptable service times. I’m a local and will think twice about returning.

You've got to give credit when it's due . Been twice previously and on both occasions good it would be over an hours wait for food once on arrival and after 40 minutes sat there. This time was undeniably better. I was not told to **** off by any member of staff ( last time by the indomitable rachel) when we complained and no threats of assault by local yokels (when I complained to the brewery I was told that customer was going to assault me ) . The woman in there who swears a lot also backed Rachel up ,well she should know.Anyway on with the positives went in the garden and was served promptly , food arrived , third time lucky and was pretty good. So moving up on the scale of 1 to 5 . No assaults, swearing at customers so a vast improvement. Well done all !

Eaten at this venue many times and never been disappointed,in fact quite the opposite. Lovely ambience, our favourite is the conservatory but anywhere in the various locations is fab. The food is of the highest standard with a very varied menu. There pork belly is amazing and our family have decided that the sticky toffee pudding is the best EVER. Always a warm welcome and very attentive staff.

This was at the end of a fortnight walking in Cornwall, during which we'd been frankly disappointed by too many similar menus that did not take advantage of the sea. Not so, The New Inn! The menu gave loads of choice and played to regional strengths. I had Fowey River Mussels for starters and they couldn't be fresher. Nice straightforward, clean decor. Good beer too.

Booked for a Monday evening to dine in conservatory. Arrived about 15 minutes early but not a problem and shown to our table quickly. Young staff very attentive and drinks ordered and arrived promptly. Usually pub style range on menu with daily specials. We both had steaks which were cooked to our requirements. Onion rings were lovely - not the usual frozen kind. We both had desserts which were big and filled us up. All in all we would eat there again and would recommend.

Tonight the service by the young members of staff was perfect, the timing was spot on (despite the restaurant being very busy) and every plate of food brought to our table of six was greatly appreciated. Our plates were sent back empty. Thank you to the staff at the New Inn - we had a very enjoyable evening out. Btw, my husband and I are also in the hospitality business in the area and understand the pressures that the sector currently faces. With limited or no affordable accommodation available to staff, many businesses are relying on local youngsters to fill job vacancies. They’re learning on their feet, under the considerable pressures of Covid restrictions as well as the unprecedented number of visitors to Cornwall. Given the situation, they’re doing a fantastic job, keeping our county’s cafes, restaurants and bars running. It saddens me to read people complaining about their efforts. Please consider the strains the sector is under just now in Cornwall, and PLEASE be kind.

Fantastic lunch in the sunshine. Food was well cooked and presented. We had a vegetarian platter and a seafood platter, plenty for two on each. Beautiful pint of Bass to complete a lovely visit.

We had a wonderful visit here on a busy Friday evening. We sat outside in the spacious beer garden which is great when visiting with children. The food was absolutely delicious and great big portions that left us all feeling extremely satisfied. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Will be returning soon.

First of all I`d like to comment on the food but unfortunately I can`t. We visited twice last week, both booked at 6.30 as a family of four, so no food after waiting an hour. You can see on the other reviews that this is a common problem even by the customers which were lucky enough to get any food at all! So on the Sunday we left no apology , nothing.A common approach in tripadvisor replies is to ask the customer to give the establishment a second chance so we duly did on Thursday night. Booked again for a family of four.Arrived initially table was wrong but the barperson sorted that out (more of her later !)Waited as last time this time for 40 minutes and then was told there was an hours more wait for food. When management say that they strive to sort out complaints that is the nub of the issue. They do not, instead of sorting the tickets out so the food arrived on time I was told by a junior member of staff that that they willing to do nothing. (Like previous reviews by others) I then saw the landlord who became abusive to me saying that I should get out , which then unbelievably culminated in the bar person shouting "if you don`t like it you can f k off" Which we did of our own accord. I don`t see why customers you raise legitimate complaints should be met with a landlord who is clearly abrogating his responsibilities by sending junior members of staff to sort out fundamental service problems and members of staff who shout "f k off" at customers who simply should not under any circumstances be employed in the hospitality industry. We are not the only customers who have once again be let down by you as not being able to serve food on time is a common issue and in 35 years of going to pubs have never been spoken to in such a disgusting way off by a member of staff . So to sum up over an hours wait on two occasions, no food, raised a complaint and told to "f off"!

What a gem! We had no idea where to go for lunch but chose the shed; a great choice! The steak was so good and the sole cooked to perfection. Great wine, appetisers and dessert to boot. Fantastic value and the service was great Thank you so much.

The staff were friendly, the service was prompt, the food was good. It's about as good as you could hope for from a family friendly restaurant at the price that it is.

Absolutely wonderful visit. The cream tea was the best I think I’ve ever had. Warm scones, huge pot of cream and delicious jam, must be homemade. The tea was piping hot and came with an additional tea bag should you like it strong.
