Food spectacular. Bar staff lovely. Unfortunately, night ruined by waiting staff member- she was abrupt, so particular about how and when you ordered (my mum tried to order a coffee when she was taking dessert orders and was firmly put in her place) she was rude to my husband and teenage children, took our orders then came back with cutlery at which point we all had to tell her again who was having what, and essentially rushed us through dinner by constantly clearing away and standing by waiting for us to finish courses. Such a shame as the food is so good but we won’t be back because that staff member makes it so stressful to eat there!

Visited for Sunday lunch, 3rd March with my wife. This venue has much in common with some of the chain establishments available, and attracts similar clientele. My starter was ok, while the dinner was served ready plated, rather than sides being presented separately, which is my preference, and the norm. The quality of ingredients used for the main course could’ve been much better. For dessert I opted for the cheese board, served on a huge square plate, which the obviously felt compelled to fill. They appear to have salvaged every piece of cheese from the back of the fridge and piled it on the plate. If your preference is quantity over quality, then this venue is for you. Every part of the meal was perfectly edible, but there are many better options out there, and cheaper too.

We visited in. Thursday evening to celebrate a family birthday and had a lovely evening The dining room was warm and welcoming and busy enough to have a great atmosphere The food was excellent and obviously freshly cooked. I had the special of monkfish which was delicious The desserts were great with an excellent sticky toffee pudding (so many places get this wrong). Service was attentive and friendly and you didn’t feel rushed to leave like so many places nowadays that seem to only want you at the table for a couple of hours When the bill came, we were pleasantly surprised at the value for money. We will definitely be coming back

My fiance and I came here a week ago for a treat meal and what a treat it was! This was our first visit and I can already say we will definitely be going back. We were greeted with smiles from the door and shown to our table. I am 6 months pregnant also and the ladies who served us delighted in talking about my pregnancy and asking how I was feeling etc, it was lovely! The food was absolutely delicious. We had starters and mains and both enjoyed everything we had. You could tell it was all home made and time had been spent on each meal. The surroundings were lovely too. All in all, a lovely evening! Thank you!

The Yorkshire pud was great, we had to fight over my hubby’s as he isn’t keen!! Lol. So too full for dessert but we all came away very happy & full. A fabulous Sunday lunch!!

Arrive 12.15 for 12.30 meal. Still nothing at 1pm. Made comment at 1pm that if food not here by 1.30 I would go. Food arrive 1.10pm. 50 mins late. Excuse organiser should have indicted all here. No the establishment should have made a point of asking. All guests had arrived by 12.30. To make matters worse the food that arrived was appalling. Worst meal i have had in a long while. Baked potato Tuna Mayonnaise and salad. The Inn needs to learn how to bake and keep potatoes. Dark brown hard skin unable to cut at all. inside poatato itself not fluffy but clumped. Obvious it had been warmed up in microwave. About 7 others had same complaint and the only response from the waitress in charge was that no one else had ever complained about the baked potatoes and that the food was served before 1pm. No sorry or apology total indifference. No attempt to put the problem right. First time there and also the last

Good choice of beers and wines etc. Service was very pleasant, knowlegable and efficient. Other people eating and a good atmosphere.Satay chicken skewers for starter. Sauce a bit thin in a small pot and less chicken than we had expected. It was very nice but would have not looked much if it had been presented on 2 skewers.Items are cooked to order say 20 minutes between which we prefer so don't expect a quick meal.Main courses both very good, well cooked and presented and tasty. Salmon with honey and mustard dressing, asparagus, leeks and foudue potatoes. Linguini in an onion sauce with 3 king prawns and 2 large prawns in the shell. With asparagus. As the food was piping hot it was difficult to shell the prawns.Desserts were very well presented and a good choice, you can look on the menu and they are also on display. We had two different types of cheesecake, eton mess and raspberry brule, both probably made in house. You can have ice cream or cream or both.

We were regular visitors to the New Inn when the previous owner (Kirsty) was there. It's a really friendly pub, the staff are lovely and we've also dined there several times. One bonus previously was that they also welcomed four-legged friends (on leads) in the Bar. However, knowing that the pub was undergoing a change of ownership I decided to check with them first to enquire whether we would still be allowed to take our Dog in with us. So I contacted them via the messaging service on Facebook to check; I received a reply of "yes we will still allow dogs in the bar" Great, I thought - this is a country pub and lots of people take their dogs in. On this basis we visited with our dog about 2 weeks ago, ordered drinks and were then told we'd have to either go in the Pool room or outside with our dog. As it was cold outside we chose the Pool room which has no bar, no one else in it and zero atmosphere. Not very welcoming for new owners especially as I had enquired first about the dog. Feeling as though we weren't wanted there we quickly finished our drinks and left. I made further enquiries later with the management again via Facebook and could see that it had been read but they didn't bother to reply to me. We do of course go to lots of places without our dog and it's not as though we can't go out socially without her but it's a bit disappointing to be told we could take her in and then made to feel so unwelcome when we did. Not impressed.

The New Inn is quite close to the North Thoresby railway station, we have been here before but only for a drink or bar snack, this time we had a table in the very nice and fair sized restaurant. The food and drinks we ordered were very good, competitively priced and were served by very polite waitresses. After the meal we went for a short walk into the village and back just in time to get our train back to Ludborough. Being members of The Lincolnshire Wolds Railway we will be making this journey again and will be visiting the New Inn.

We went for a birthday meal as it had been recommended to us. If the review was just on the food I would probably be giving a four out of five as the food was very good. The service was another story!!! We were not asked what we would like with our meal ie chips or potatoes, salad or vegetables, somebody had to come back and ask. When the meals came we had to ask for some sauces, the steak knife wouldn't cut hot butter and throughout the meal nobody came over to ask if everything was alright. There was no atmosphere and the decor was awful, looked like it had not been touched for ten years.

We visited here with a group of 11 in total (family catch up) We live in Dorset so visiting family who live in North Thoresby. Booked ahead as such a large group! Arrived to an empty dining room with zero atmosphere, music in the background when we arrived but soon stopped and then it was just so quiet. While we were there there were only 2 other tables of 2 people so very quiet especially for a Saturday evening! It took an hour to place an order and then when the food arrived it was all wrong. We had steak that had to be sent back as under cooked (asked for well done and came out pink throughout) Meals were missing salads/ peas and all just a bit of a shambles. We had to ask for sauces twice and then we were given tiny little pots that would only serve one plate.. not ideal when 11 people are wanting the same!! The young waitress was very unenthusiastic and we had to keep asking for drinks, steak knives, sauces etc. There was no checking if everything was ok, asking if she could get us anything. She was stood behind the counter looking extremely bored and fed up and we just felt like an inconvenience. A small number of our group ordered puddings which again arrived with the wrong sides (custard/ice cream etc) We had to wait for 10 minutes after puddings arrived for spoons even after asking!! My 5 year old son asked for a chocolate sponge pudding that came out tasting of alcohol. I asked the waitress if she could ask for the ingredients as 4 of us all tasted it and agreed it had an alcoholic flavour only to be sneered at and told no it didn't. Needless to say he didn't eat it! The only good thing about the whole evening was the company of the family I'm afraid. The family members that live in the village have said they would never return and I think that sums it up! Decor shabby, toilets filthy and wallpaper peeling off the doors... the worst thing for us was the service. Such a shame!! I would give this place a zero if I could. Avoid avoid avoid!!

I went over to see my parents at Holton Le Clay, with high hopes of a slap up fish dinner at the ocean in Cleethorpes, only to find we couldn't get in and my mum bless her had booked a table at the New Inn North Thoresby. On arrival there were very few cars in the car park and no one in the pub at all, at 1pm an a Saturday - I thought our day was doomed as did my parents. We stayed, sat in the deserted but clean and warm conservatory at the rear. The menu looked good - I like good hearty food! We ordered two steak pies, fish and chips and I had the fish pie. After a sensible wait the food was served. It looked and tasted great. My Fish pie was creamy and well stocked with fish and prawns, the Fish and chip was great - a very light batter super chips and garden peas. The steak pie was full of meat well seasoned and flavoursome, the gravy substantial not the thin dish water some serve up the fish pie and steak pies were served with a nice selection of properly cooked veg, I do not like vegetables I have to chew or crunch but neither do I like those that are wet and bland - these were very nice. It was such a shame to see good reasonably priced food with good beer being served without a throng to eat it...Get back there its still a good venue!

Myself and my wife have visited the new Inn on several occasions, and as normal, the food and the service was great. We will definitely be going again now that we have found a local taxi service. Many thanks, see you soon.

We found this little gem on the way back from Donna Nook after a freezing hour viewing the seals. On arrival I was greeted by friendly staff who gave me a choice of the lagers and served me quickly. The room was clean, tables and decor in theme with the pub and their was a friendly atmosphere. We looked at the food menu - which has a wide range of options which all sounded amazing - then my partner ordered. We were offered the option of opening a tab which we declined. The food was presented well, came piping hot and was delicious. It's somewhere we would definitely visit again.

Visited this pub numerous times over the years under 2 to 3 different owners and usually enjoyed our dining out experience. Today 8 of the family met today for Sunday lunch to celebrate a birthday. It was very nice to be told the birthday person had a free meal. The dining room at the back of the pub was almost empty - unusual for a Sunday lunchtime. The place needs brightening up as it is very outdated - not always a bad thing but it needs something here to lighten the plainness. The dado was chipped in places, dated and insignificant pictures on the wall, a wire was hanging down from a ceiling light that was missing. It was not overly warm. The welcome was non-existent - a glance up from their conversation was all the waiting staff could muster. They were pleasant when serving, particularly the young man, but the service was so slow despite 3 staff and very few customers. I was pleased to taste the Black Sheep cask ale, that can be very different in different venues, was very good. I had a vege lasagne but it was not very layered and had a dishevelled appearance on the plate. My wife had a mushroom strudel but she was not too impressed. Mine was supposed to come with chips but didn't. There were plenty of vegetables served in separate dishes that tasted OK. It seems a shame that was once a very popular pub has not moved on to keep abreast or be ahead of the competition out there.

We were here for a quick lunch during a damp day out for a walk, and hoped to find a friendly local pub, maybe with a log fire or some warming cheer on a dreary day... wish we hadn't bothered! The place was dull inside, not particularly busy, and after searching around to find a CLEAN table , ( many were sticky , not cleaned properly) we ordered lunch- reasonably priced, yes, but obviously because cheap ingredients are being used. It was slightly off putting to be sharing the dining space with a large, damp smelly dog, but when the woman at the table next to us put her little dog on the seat next to her- that was the final straw.Would not recommend at all, particularly if you are keen on hygiene.

First poor meal we have had to be fair however how hard can Sunday Roast be to cook to a good standard. I will not be returning nor will the couple on the table next to us. Service from staff was dire I had to ask for the drinks we had ordered 15 minutes earlier.. no apple sauce or horseradish to accompany meats food lookwarm. I would not recommend this Inn for food anymore and I apologise to those I have recommended it to.

We popped in for a lunch together and we're pleased to hear that our four-legged friend was welcome too. Our drinks and food orders were taken quickly and the food arrived in a reasonable time, which was great. (They even cooked a sausage for us for the dog! )My Grimsby Fish was tasty and the batter was light, the chips were homemade - lovely! My husband's gammon and pineapple was tasty too. The portions were very generous, and the offer on a Wednesday was 2 mains for £15 from a selection on the menu. With two drinks, it was only £22 - great value too. I would definitely recommend and return, especially as our dog was welcome!

Visited with my mum. First impressions.. village pub.. decent sized car park.. tidy enough outside.Inside.. older fashioned.. traditional style pub. First thing that hit us on the way in was flies?! Strange.. but lots of flies about. Needs a fly capture device in the pub maybe? I think another reviewer also remarked on this? Two ladies behind the bar. Not one smiled or even said hello. We sat down at a very dirty table.. wet and salted! No menus on tables. 4 elderly people were eating nearby and one man on his own. Even they didn't look up! After a while of sitting... and still no interaction from the staff... I walked over to where there was a stack of clip boards with menus attached. The paper menus were quite battered.. and in need of replacement. The prices were really quite expensive for such an old run down looking interior. No visible hygiene rating either.. so worried! Then went to find a sheet was missing from the menu clip board.. with some better prices.. but nothing special stood out. Waiting another 5 mins.. no response from staff. So left. On the way out the staff didn't even say anything! Incredible. In all my years of mystery shopping, professional reviews and even casual ones.. I have never been ignored completely. I will never come back here.. nor would I recommend anyone else. What a shame. I like to support local, homemade food.. but after this experience I would favour a pub chain! We did go to the Royal Oak at Holton Le Clay afterwards.. two meals for £10 and totally homemade. Hygiene 5 stars. Superb welcome and service throughout. The New Inn need to visit here to learn from them.

We visited the New Inn this evening for our tea. I had booked in advance as I didn't know wether it would be busy. Very surprised when we arrived the restaurant was closed, there was nobody in the car park or in the main bar. The pub looked very run down. I said that we had pre booked and we were asked to take a table. The table was tatty and covered in sticky glass rings. We ordered our food and a round of drinks but they only had one beer available. We waited for our meal to arrive and was not particularly looking forward to it. We were actually surprise as the food was well cooked and presented. It was a shame that the atmosphere and the pub itself was not of the same standard.

Our reason for visiting was to enjoy the 40s weekend ,plus our favourite jazz band Easy Riders were playing at the New Inn for the afternoon We had a most enjoyable afternoon first enjoying Sunday lunch at the Inn thanks to the staff who fitted us in without us having a booking Thankyou . Easy Riders were in full swing playing a selection of Jazz and Blues also playing music that we could sing to very quietly I might add. A fabulous session between the hours of 12 & 4 we so enjoyed the music .Thankyou Easy Riders the more you play the better you get ,such a happy friendly group of musicians.

Without doubt one of the worst pub meals I have ever had, if not the worst. We had been down visiting family in the area and decided we were going to call in somewhere for food and was recommended The New Inn!Staff were nice and pleasant, locals were like the ones from The Slaughtered Lamb in American Werewolf in London where they stop everything they are doing and just stare at you the whole time (felt very uneasy)!More flies in there than people which were constantly landing on us and our "food".I ordered the lasagne which came out a very bright yellow colour as if it had some sort of food dye in it and it was over cooked making it all mushy and tasteless.I swapped it with my wife's steak and ale pie which was so dry I needed a full gravy boat to attempt it. It was as if it had been left under a heat lamp for hours but we were the first order to be taken of the night????Diet Coke was nice though and it was the real deal as it was poured straight from the bottle on to ice.Would never go back to this place again and was really disappointed after a long drive. It might have been possible that the chef had called in sick perhaps??

As a family we have often gone to the new Inn for family celebrations or just for lunch during the week or on a Sunday. Me and my mum went on Saturday and yet again the dining room was closed however there was a sign that food was available in the bar, we went through to the bar to be told that food was not available because the chef had let them down. I do understand that these things happen but this is the 3rd ocassions when we have been turned away. We won't be going again because it is quite a drive and the last couple of times the food has not been great my brother had a large blonde hair in his burger and mine was vry greasy. They have painted the walls but still they need to wash the salt and pepper pots on the tables the tea pots are also quite dirty looking.

Turned up for a birthday meal for 5:30pm. Still no menus arrived by 6:45pm until we asked for them. Eventually got to table which hadn't been set. (incidentally, there were still many empty tables despite them saying they were fully booked). Then some meals arrived, some didn't. Then told that there were no steaks left (despite ordering an hour earlier) - can you choose something else please?. Went for something easy - scampi and chips. Plate arrived with some scampi and scabby chips but mostly full of peas. Have had better meals out of the freezer and in the oven for 30 mins at home. Others in group had to change meals. Couldn't keep waiting for all meals to arrive and most of us had finished before final meal eventually turned up. Similar goings on at other tables even though restaurant far from fully occupied. If only Basil Fawlty had been there - he could have shown then how to run a restaurant!. Absolute shambles! Did feel some sympathy for the young waitress though who did her very best in difficult circumstances.

Prebooked a table to celebrate a 30th birthday, on arrival we were left sat outside for 1 and a quarter hours, had to ask for menus in the end as there was no sign of any service. We were advised that 'steak sauces' where the only items missing from the menu. This was not much of an issue at all, until after placing our order an hour later we were advised that actually the kitchen was out of sausages, mash and steaks meaning that 5 members of our group had to change their orders. Other dishes were delivered not matching description - personally, I ordered 'smoked haddock, motezerlla and spring onion fish cakes, served on a bed of mixed salad and sweet chili sauce'. On arrival I was greeted with two prepacked fish cakes, dry and tasteless chips and a very large portion of peas. There was no assistance or understanding from the owners, in fact they preferred to play the card of: 'Oh well I have only just been informed by the kitchen of the issues so this is not my fault'. An absolute disgrace I will be very surprised if the new owners stay in business long at all!

Stopped off for lunch on the spare of the moment. The newly decorated dining room seemed a bit sparse mixing the old dated furniture with the modern wall covering. We arrived a few minutes before about four or five other groups. The waitress took our order and food delivered in around 20 minutes. Both the meat pie and my partners BBQ burger were very tastly and good quality. We became aware that other diners were still waiting and meals were not very forthcoming. By the time we left only 2 other tables had received their food having waited an hour and there were still 3 other groups waiting. We heard the waitress apologise but was not able to give an explanation. Although food was good don't think we will return unless we have about 4 hours to spare.

Decided to have lunch ,on arrival disappointed that restaurant side was closed as a refurb was ongoing. However decided to go in the bar for food.Friendly staff, welcomed us and served quickly.Lasagne portion size was a lot smaller than on previous visit, homemade pie was excellent, however both meals had small portion of chips accompanying the mains.Rather quiet for a Friday lunchtime, probably due to dining room being closed.Hope the smaller portions are not to subsidise the refit ?Will give it a miss for a while now, hopefully things improve when back in full swing.

Myself, my partner, child and Grandmother visited for something to eat on a Sunday afternoon in May. We went into the restaurant side and it was very busy but we were found a table on the bar side. We were really surprised how nice the bar area was, it wasn't like a 'bar' at all. The friendly waitress took our order promptly.2 of us had soup to start (tasty and hot) and we all had a roast dinner for mains. We didn't wait long at all, the quality of the food was good and we all had clean plates by the end. I really like the 'potting shed' area in the bar with pool table etc. The boys could go off and do their thing whilst my Grandma and I finished our drinks. The bill came to £45 for 2 starters, 4 mains and 4 drinks, which we thought was quite good value. It's not somewhere that is a la carte or fine dining but it does what it says on the tin and the food/service were both great so we will be returning the future!

2 steaks and 2 starters or deserts for £20, can be hit and miss, some times it has been really nice and other times the steak has been tough. Unless ordering from the special's it can be a bit pricey for what it is (trying to be something its not), its just a village pub not a-la-carte!!!

I tried this place on a whim my friend had just moved into the area and we fancied a roast dinner it was lovely, home made Yorkshire puds tasty lamb proper mash potatoes and real vegetables. The staff where lovely and very attentive. The dessert was wonderful. The only issue I had was I would of like a jug of gravy, but I'm sure if we had asked we would of got it. The barman was very nice and helpful. Prices was perfect. Highly recommend this and I shall be back!

We were looking for a friendly pub with restaurant that could accommodate a large party for a family meal in the Christmas period with a good selection on the menu. We found it!!!!. The meal we had that lunch time was excellent. We went on to book our family gathering meal in December. There is a large selection on the menu something for everyone. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We are looking forward to going back.

Have had the set Sunday lunch on several occasions. Quality of the meal has been fairly consistent. Today however, the experience was overshadowed by some very nasty custard! It sounds very picky, when the rest of the meal was fine, but watery, lumpy, tasteless powdered custard with the crumble, took the edge right off...

Tucked away between the large venue's across from happy days club but if you do spot it well worth a visit, next door to a chippy. Run by working class folk with a friendly attitude and friendly prices. Our favourite is the Sunday carvery with generous portions and to top it all comes with a pudding included in the price. A good extensive menu at affordable prices for families and couples. Large table's, good seating but what make ginghams our favourite is the helpful friendly staff and atmosphere. Well worth a visit.
