New Inn in Carmarthenshire

Stopped on the way to Bala with friends for lunch bank holiday weekend, very poor lunch in fact terrible, nothing like what is described on the menu. Sandwiches on a poor quality bun, certainly not made by a made chef. Beer was OK hence 2 stars! definitely wont be stopping there again!

Discusting!!,I had a bad impression straight away by the state of outside area.Rubbish everywhere,dirty dishes and glasses not collected in.Inside was dirty and dusty,decor old and outdated and falling off the walls.i checked the mattress on the bed which was the final straw for me it was black and moldy so we left definitely not sleeping on that.place needs environmental health to shut it down!

Stopped in for an afternoon lunch, found the service friendly and quick. The food itself was very nice with good-sized portions would recommend

This place needs to up its game! Everywhere needed a decent clean, outside area scruffy and unkempt, lots of broken glass in bar area on the floor was just left there, dirty drinking glasses, dirty toilets with dirty towels just left on the sink, food worse than mediocre! We were glad to leave - hate leaving bad reviews but come on!

What a great little pub, friendly, clean and welcoming. The lunches were delicious and desserts amazing. With generous portions of nicely cooked, well presented and and very reasonably priced. I would definitely go there again; it’s worth going out of your way for.

Stopped here for a midday meal. When I complained that we had been overcharged, the man said the prices had been raised. They had been changed on the till, but not on the menus. There is a word for this....... illegal!! The food was alright, nothing special. Only one member of staff, and had to ring bell to get his attention. There was an advert on the wall asking for more staff. Would have helped if they hadn't spelt 'we' as 'wee'.... Maybe they only want short people to apply!!

We arrived on a Saturday evening. The decor was very dated and lacking in amenities: no shower, no bedside table. The little furniture there was was falling apart, panelling under the bath was coming off with dangerous nails poking out. Food was mediocre, at best the standard of microwave meals. Pub was cramped and pokey with tables pushed together and we ended up having to share with strangers.Loud at night as place apparently caters to bikers and lets them run riot. Staff didn´t bother to turn up for breakfast on Sunday morning so there were a lot of bewildered guests in the dining room trying to serve themselves with nothing but toast on offer, no milk for cereals.

Did not stay at the inn , but had a really lovely Sunday lunch, the beef was tender and succulent, just wish there was more of it , mashed carrots and potatoes with peas and roast potatoes with the skins still on, gravy with chunks of carrots, delicious

Terrible place. Really sad to see how neglected and run down a place with potential can be. Cigarettes in the flower pots rubbish left outside. Service by one man who clearly has not got a passion for the place. Packaged food, chips hard, forgot our drinks then gave us the wrong food which was inedible. No light working in the toilets etc etc Difficult to get so many things wrong. Needs some love and care. As it is is shouldn't be open.

SHOCKING!!!! Had an overnight stay here paid £105 for the night which I have stayed in £30 a night hotels which were a lot better the rooms were small there tv in the room were on a portable aerial which I had to hang up over the wardrobe Handel there as bust all over the room and in the bathroom the shower was hanging off the wall so had to fix it myself it was also dirty and dated

Had 2 meals here over a 2 night stay as no other place to eat and no shop for miles. Another pub over the road which is closed.Food ok, not amazing. Beer good though I got a glass covered in lipstick which really shouldnt be happening these days. Typical Welsh pub- revert to speaking Welsh as soon as they see you are English

Very good pint of Carling. Best Ive had in a long time. Sunday lunch (Lamb) was excellent. Friendly staff who couldnt do enough to help. Would certainly come back to this part of the world and back to the New Inn.

We have travelled past this pub dozens of times but never stopped here. Recently we were passing mid afternoon and wanted something to eat. We were surprised that there was such an extensive menu available at this time. The food arrived quickly and was very good. It was excellent value for money

My Wife and I were lucky enough to be staying in Llangynog for a week for our Wedding anniversary at the nearby River Nest holiday lodge. We ate at the New Inn every evening bar one, slowly working our way through the menu. I can honestly say that we were not dissapointed in a single mouthful! From the huge Mixed Grill to the ultimate Burger and Beautifully cooked Steak and Gammon to even a Curry.... The portions were large, great tasting and used good quality ingredients. Add to this the lovely welcoming staff and you have a place that I recommend visiting, whether staying locally or just passing through the village. A special mention to Sarah who made us feel welcome and special with every visit. 10/10 across the board 👍

In the centre of Llangynog, this is one of two inns serving food. It has a certain vintage pub charm. The food is unpretentious but wholesome & not expensive. Good car parking

Stayed in the village for the week and ate here several times. Can definitely recommend the gammon and the warm waffles with ice cream but everything we tried was delicious. Lovely friendly staff too.

Having just spent a week in Llangynog, my wife and l frequented the "New Inn" five occasion (I think). The welcome we received on each visit was truly welcoming.The drinks and food, again are all superb, we tried starters, main courses and deserts (but nt all at once).Would most certainly visit it again.John FaircloughFotographic Images

Wonderful Christmas lunch served by very friendly staff. Good vegetarian choices for me and a generous serving of meat for my partner. The portions were huge and very tasty home cooked meals. We had to take some of our food away which was not a problem for the staff who wrapped the plate up in cling film for us. The atmosphere in the pub is friendly and welcoming and it’s a perfect rural welsh pub in a gorgeous setting.

The 'New Inn' was evidently 'new' a very long time ago. It's neat and attractive enough on the outside, but the interior's a bit dark and distinctly on the shabby side of chic! But fair play, it's an authentic village pub in a very remote and rural corner of Wales, not an eatery in some swish metropolitan suburb.And I had the best lamb casserole I think I've ever tasted from their 'specials' menu while my other half enjoyed a tasty curry - each with plenty of chips and veg. Preceded, for both of us, by a deliciously creamy and very tasty leek and potato soup.All with cheerful, friendly and welcoming staff, prompt service and reasonable prices too. We'd certainly recommend the 'New Inn' for lunch if you find yourself staying in the Dyffryn Tanat area or - more unlikely, as it's a fair distance from any 'A' road! - if you're passing through.

Had sunday lunch with wife and 4 family members. It was excellent in every way.Gorgeous food well presented and very staff very pleasant and helpful. Highly recommend The New Inn

On a return from Wales stopped off for a bite to eat as had seen that the place always seemed well visited on previous occasions when we had passed. The food was well priced and wholesome and the locals were friendly and engaged in small talk which gave a really friendly feel to the place. Will definitely return again.

Hay 2 bares en Llangynog, es propiedad de la gente, pero para satisfacer todos los gustos. El New Inn es el más grande de los dos y sirve buena comida a un precio razonable, una variedad de cervezas de barril, cervezas, sidras y 2 cervezas. Es un pub animado con gramola y mesa de billar, popular entre los lugareños y visitantes por igual. Tanto pubs también tienen disponibles. Es mi local, por consiguiente regularmente revisadas.

Fuimos allí por padres día y nos trataron a un almuerzo de comida casera del domingo. Toda la carne era de procedencia local y había un montón de cosas! Aunque el pub estaba lleno, el servicio era excelente, y como era una tarde soleada hermosa terminamos teniendo unas cuantas bebidas en el jardín de la cerveza. También muy impresionante cestas colgantes! Sin duda volveré

Nos alojamos aquí tres años consecutivos y encontrar las amplias y cómodas habitaciones. Televisión es pequeño, pero agradable,. Suites con baño son pequeños, pero no el trabajo.

Gran ambiente en este pub de país con un montón de gente por una pinta sábado por la noche. Buen servicio de nuestra camarera amable y servicial, y un montón de opciones en el menú, complementado por unos especiales. Sin embargo, Necesitas ser un poco más rápido eliminando de la junta cuando ofertas vendidas para evitar decepciones al cliente. Comida de buena calidad, pero no excepcional.

Fuimos a este lugar accidentalmente mientras conducía de vuelta de Gales, fue muy tarde para la hora británica el almuerzo.

Paramos aquí para algo de comer y beber. La comida estaba mal presentado y de las bebidas, la chica me dio una lata y una copa para mí pour. A nadie parece importarle que uno estaba esperando ser servido. sólo nos ignoró. Otro común pub

only had breakfast there as we were doing a motorcross day at the mick extance school.arrived 8am. very small breakfast room, but warm welcome from the waitress.orders were taken and breakfasts were delivered quickly. very tasty, especially the bacon. good value for money and set us up for the day.

Good friendly pub very good atmosphere especially at a weekend. Really good food would recommend the t bone the curry's not bad either. Good place to stay if your ripping it at Revolution bike park as well.

Food was delicious, service was great. Order came quite quick, piping hot and portion size was fantastic. Great pub food.

I stayed here for one night after completing a day of motorcycling with a local company. the room was very homely and very clean. excellent staff who couldn't do enough for you with the owner being equally as accommodating.they also served the best breakfast ever

Fabulous old seventeenth century inn with accommodation available, what a shame they serve such poor low quality food ,frozen chips still hard in the centre a square piece of fish straight out of a box and a few cold peas all cooked and served by youngsters who must have been students .we have just returned from a weeks break in this beautiful village our fourth visit on previous occasions everything was fine I can only think that the pub must have changed hands

Friendly, accommodating staff.Slightly careworn rooms but the location, value for money of accommodation and food more than offset this.Beautiful place, beautiful people.
