New Inn in Exeter

Lovely meal this evening to celebrate my husband's birthday . Again great choices and Gavin the chef made a gorgeous special gf starter as couldn't have the crab cakes. Absolutely recommend any fish dish , just amazing.

This is our village pub which serves fabulous food, has great service and great atmosphere, we went in for Valentines night as we’re not disappointed. It’s the beating heart of our village and worth the visit.

Well what can I say , yet ANOTHER AMAZING meal at The New Inn Alphington, the owners and staff have really turned this pub around. The venison steak was delicious, absolutely 100% top quality food. I would definitely recommend a visit. Great atmosphere, amazing food .

Can't fault the New Inn. We visited last night, a Thursdsy which is steak night. Absolutely brilliant, the steak was delicious, very well seasoned. Even better you get 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for just under £26. We also had a side of onion rings and they were lovely. My friend had the fish pie from the specials menu and really enjoyed it. Pub has a lovely friendly atmosphere.

We popped in for a couple of pints and then saw the menu. The owners took over in the last month or so and wow!!! The food was delicious!!

Hubby and I decided we’d give the new inn a try now it’s open again Glad we did the roast was scrumptious Service with a smile and Good food and company what more do you want ?

My friend and I plus one dog visited the New Inn Alphington, Exeter recently and it did not disappoint. We arrived early which was no problem and we're seated immediately. The staff there were welcoming and the service was great. Out canine companion got lots of attention which she thoroughly enjoyed. The food was delicious and nothing was too much trouble. We had the garlic mushrooms, breaded brie wedges (to start) and both had the roast beef dinner. We didn't have a dessert because we couldn't fit one in but they had very tempting choices. Thank you New Inn, we will visit again soon 😁

Absolutely wonderful food , i came here for a Christmas meal with a friend and i can honestly say it was the best Christmas dinner i have had out ! I’m currently sat here again 3 days later after just having another Christmas dinner due to it being so delicious! The service was lovely the bar staff were fantastic and the new management are wonderful! I have been recommending to everyone , thank you so much for a lovely evening again and see you soon ! Xx

The New Inn has gone downhill massively during the recent months, I understand there have been many changes going on , however this is no excuse for the poor customer service & experience We received on two occasions recently, Two separate planned evening meal events were totally ruined by the lack of staff/menu/drinks, also a bad attitude towards customers. I sincerely hope this changes soon, as it was once a decent venue. Will take something special for me to return.

Intenté tomar una bebida del bar, esperé pacientemente mientras otras personas estaban servidas e intenté llamar la atención de la camarera. Sin suerte, ella ofreció un trago a algunos tipos que obviamente habían estado apuntalando el bar por un tiempo. Después de que ella les sirvió y todavía no pude llamar su atención mientras estaba conversando con algunos clientes habituales, me rendí.Volví a mi grupo de amigos sin tomar nada, ya que no podía molestarme en esperar más. Nuestros amigos se nos unieron hoy para almorzar. Fue nuestra primera visita para un domingo asado. Guau, fue fantástico, vegetales frescos cocinados perfectamente. Enormes roasties y la carne de ternera / cordero estaban cocinados a la perfección. La camarera / camarera era agradable y muy eficiente. Nos encanta el ambiente aquí y lo hemos visitado muchas veces. Pruébalo, no te decepcionará.

Cinco de nosotros fuimos a cenar anoche y lo pasamos muy bien. La comida era excelente, el servicio y la atención era perfecta y el precio era excelente relación calidad-precio. El vino está muy bien de precio en comparación con otros restaurantes. También hay un ambiente muy acogedor y agradable creado por el personal y nada es demasiado problema. Teníamos 5 platos principales diferentes y todos eran buenas porciones de buen tamaño, bien presentado y muy bien preparado. Yo recomendaría una visita.

Mi esposa y yo fuimos para el almuerzo en un día de semana. El aparcamiento estaba lleno, una buena señal, aunque sólo hay un puñado de plazas de todos modos. El restaurante parecía ser popular con jubilados, pero que de nuevo folk me llevó a ser una buena señal. Y cuando llegó la comida podía ver por qué estaba tan ocupado. Ambos tuvimos una hamburguesa y patatas fritas que eran geniales. Las patatas fritas eran preciosas y fresco y caliente. La hamburguesa era bastante bueno también, y había col guarnición y caseros. No había necesidad de pud, tanto que sensación izquierda bien alimentados y dinero bien gastado. La camarera (largo pelo rubio) era realmente amable y servicial también. Volvería otra vez!

We first discoved this Inn when we visited family in Exeter some years ago by accident but when we visit our family in the UK we always make a point of having a lunch and we have never been disappointed

It was nice enough- it was pretty quiet yet we didn't get served very much. the menu was good to be fair. i had the vegetarian curry and it was really good! the thing that ruined it for me was that i was eating the nann bread on my plate and then the waitress came along and took it from me when i was clearly eating still!! i told her i was still eating- yet she ignored and i picked up my nann bread and just ate it even though my plate had been taken. she didn't really have any interest in talking to her customers- a member of my party tried to tell her that the food was really good- yet she ignored him and carried on. which did really frustrate me! we wanted desert and we were told that the desert menu was in the corner. we decided what we wanted and waited ages for the waitress to come back but she never did. we paid and left because she never came back. i was quite disappointed by that as the deserts looked lovely! the food was amazing and it was clean and a nice environment it was just the customer service that let it down :( food was definitely a 5 though!!

Great pub offering excellent food. They have specials nights like fish night, steak night as well as excellent menu and specials board. They also do a lunch club for £7.95 for 2 courses until 6.30 pm. Good selection of wines.

Having heard about this pub via social media we thought we'd look it up and give it a go. We weren't disappointed, the environment was clean and smart looking, menu was good, food was excellent and the staff were happy and very friendly. Couldn't fault it, highly recommend it and we will be back! Thank you New Inn!

Visited of a Monday lunchtime and it was packed - not a special day but again the place was full. A great Cottage pie that was clearly home made and with cheese on top, it was fantastic. Only downside is there is hardly any parking, but having grown up in Alphington I knew where to park out of the way in Ide Lane.

We visited aspartame of a large party of 30. We pre order or menu choice prior to the visit . The food was served hot and well presented . There was a good selection on the menu plus daily specials.Booking a tablets reccommended so as not to be disappointed , Staff were friendly and helpful.Drinks from the bar area little more pricey than elsewhere .

I moved to London just over a year ago and really miss the New Inn. It does excellent food for great value (especially the lunch club) and nothing is too much trouble - they're happy to make changes to the menu which shows that everything is made from scratch. Service is excellent with friendly staff and lots of locals with live music on a regular basis. Must make the effort to go in and visit when I'm home again!

Lovely modern pub with friendly atmosphere. Never had a bad meal there. Something for everyone. We go at least once a month for lunch or dinner and always come away feeling full. Everything freshly cooked and the chips are REAL!!!!! Highly recommend this place to anyone. Great that they have non smoking eating area outside too(we used this in the summer).

Have visited many times over the last year and although a small car park the service and food is excellent. Good value for money with a varied choice of menu. In the evenings it is a good idea to reserve a table due to its popularity. I have reviewed before and it is still as good.

I live just around the corner from the New Inn pub and have visited a few times since it reopened last year.The main courses are really nice, with big portions. My wife and I are vegetarians and we went for the veggie burger which was really nice. Most pubs offer the veggie burgers dry but this one was topped with pineapple rings and cheese - which was an interesting (and pleasant) change.Unfortunately the puddings are less nice. They are homemade but the ones we've had haven't been that great. We had pineapple upside down cake today and it had a nice flavour but was quite soggy and not very cakey. We asked for it with ice cream but they gave us the tiniest scoop I have ever seen.That said at least they now have clotted cream on the menu (a must for a pub in Devon!), previously they only had squirty 'cream' :0The pub is quite clean and new, and has been kept nicely. It also seems popular with locals - and they often have live music and quiz nights.The manager is quite friendly but some of the staff are a bit miserable. Perhaps if we got to know them they'd be more friendly - but a smile doesn't cost anything :)As local pubs go I don't think we could ask for much better. Just needs some work on the puddings and the smiles :)

Since the pub had undergone refurbishment, the standard of food and service has improved no end. Good portions at a reasonable price. The only down point is that somehow the noise level is quite high. Cannot find a reason why.
