Since we last dined here there appears to have been a change of ownership. Maybe it is early days yet but certainly needs to improve and it is way off its previous standards. There was a lack of staff behind the bar and we waited too long to be served. pay and order at the bar. Whilst the meals were still very good we thought the prices were rather exorbitant. All round very disappointing

we have visited this pub on occasions over the past 30 years ago. Regrettably it has recently gone significantly downhill prices have shot up and food standard have gone down. The increase in beer prices are much higher than average. we had to wait over 10 minutes to be served at the bar. shame because this is basically a nice traditional English pub

Not sure whats happened to this pub. Used to be expensive but food was ok. Now even more expensive but food has gone downhill. Not well cooked and tiny portions. They seem used to knocking the meal off the bill. Odd that you can have a cheaper and a perfect meal at the Ivy! Also got charged a service charge for my drinks. Insult to injury.

Tartare sauce isn't just for fish and chips and The New Inn's chef gets my taste buds in overdrive with her magical recipe! I always have her quiche, chips and salad which the TS compliments perfectly and they give you a jam jar full of this elixir, not just two measly pots! Couple this with a very welcoming landlady and staff, extensive beer garden and beautiful surroundings and you have the foundations of a very satisfying afternoon!

The pub is nice and homely, with a really nice atmosphere. Staff are very friendly and welcoming 💕 However the fish and chips ?? Very crispy batter , but completely and utterly tasteless . If you closed your eyes you would not even think you were eating fish ?? Must be frozen and very poor quality?? Probably should invest in better quality produce.

We took the family to The New Inn for a half-term treat and had THE best time. Lovely buzz about the place, with great service and the most delicious food. We all ate off the Specials Board and it was all excellent - particular favourites were the most beautifully cooked Beef Brisket and a delicious Lamb Tagine. The dog curled up under the table and left us to enjoy it all - along with a lovely bottle of wine. Great team behind the bar too. We walked over the lock from Teddington. A great night out.

Dreadful food, tatty pub. I came home for lunch as I sent the quiche back uneaten, it had raw runny egg on top, I did not see it until after a few bites. Greasy quiche with a completely soggy base. The meal for two cost £51. Drinks were a coke and a sparkling water. They should be ashamed of what they are serving. I did complain and the person I spoke to offered to cook the dish more or provide something else. They did not seem surprised by the complaint, perhaps there are many. A lovely location but I don't know why anyone would eat there.

Beware bing told to ‘sit down and we’ll bring your drinks to you and take your food order’. Although this is said with warmth and the food is excellent, the bill includes a ‘discretionary’ 12.5% service charge to what is basically a bar food setting with e.g. no set restaurant tables. Leaves a bad taste in the mouth after an otherwise good experience. I suspect that when other reviews have complained of overpriced food, they have not looked at this quite sizeable addition to the bill.

Friends asked me to meet here so I checked the existing reviews where it seemed to be represented as a slightly overpriced good old fashioned pub BUT with good food. What it was was an old fashioned pub with not bad but not good food (frozen chips); no heating; a large tv in one of the areas, out of date decor and staff that struggled to make the eye contact necessary to achieve a meal. I will definitely not be revisiting, The final straw was their inability to accept (definite policy) an utterly unforgeable £20 note from Scotland.

This is a really nice place on a summers evening to sit out in the large beer garden at the back, take in a few pints and some excellent simple, well-done food. I had the ribs and my significant other had one of the vegetarian options, both of which were of high quality, arrived quickly and were presented very plainly. We were initially a little worried that the noise form the road would ruin our enjoyment of the beautiful early summer evening...but the noise was barely audible over the 2 metre brick wall surrounding the beer garden. There was a good choice of beers, and we even ended up having a desert...tempted by the list on the menu!

We were loath to go to this pub after some of the reviews, but as we were parking there and then getting a bus to Kew Gardens to see the lights we reluctantly did so. Well: the staff were very smiley and welcoming and we got served immediately. It wasn't quite 5pm but there was a fair number of people in there, mainly locals it would appear, several with dogs. It is an old pub, dating back to the 18th century. The furniture and tables are old but very functional and comfortable - certainly NOT tatty or in any way dirty. We both ordered beef pie, chips and peas and it arrived very quickly, piping hot and well cooked. The pie was delicious, albeit too much! The beer was £3.95, pretty standard locally, and there was house wine on the list for £15.95. It was fine, but I too think ALL pubs should charge no more than £13 for their house wine as a benchmark. If you pay £24 for a bottle surely that is because that is what you ordered. All in all I would agree that the food is a little dearer than some other pubs, but there is no shortage of customers so it looks like supply and demand. I too would have been unhappy had there been children running around but as there weren't I can't comment, other than to say the main responsiblity for that lies with the parents, not the staff. All in all a good experience and would definitely go back.

My husband's ribs were tough and coated in a bland sauce, obviously out of a jar. My fish (cod) was the only bright spot in a terrible meal. To add insult to injury my husband had to hand over his credit card to be held behind the bar before he could run up a tab. At the time having puddings was undecided and he wished to pay for everything in one go. Judging by the main courses we decided not to have any puddings. Expensive rubbish. To add insult to injury, a separate member of staff was unacceptably rude when he would not serve us straight after last orders was called because they were 'cashing up.' Clearly, their own convenience took priority over our business. If you value customer service, you should this place a seriously wide berth.

Being a local since we have been regulars into this pub for a beer or wine in the afternoon and some small dishes despite its not so great service for the last 20 years. Until today. It all started when we were sitting on a table next to the bar on this mildly busy Friday afternoon having our drinks and enjoying a conversation. But than the staff started putting up some grey plastic trays on the otherwise pleasantly looking bar and without further warning it started: !CLANG! and again !CLANG! !CLANG! !CLANG! - polished knives and forks wer thrown into the trays with severe force making any conversation impossible and putting you this chilling torment when you are any time awaiting the next brutal high pitched assault on your ears. !CLANG! Having just ordered a beer I got up and politely asked the boys behind the bar if they could do this !Clang! somewhere else or wait until we had finished. They said they could not do anything about it since they had orders by the !CLANG! boss - and soon enough the boss came stomping out of the kitchen !Clang! and told me in no uncertain words that this work had to !!CLANG! be done right now and !CLANG!! right here. !CLANG! !CLANG! !CLANG!But he offered to give me back my money for !CLANG! my beer which resulted in him taking my glass out of my hand and publicly pouring it !CLANG! away whilst fiddling with the till. !CLANG!I told him !CLANG! that I would not ever set my food into a place !CLANG! which shows such disrespect !CLANG! for its customers !CLANG! and left the place to the sound !CLANG! of flying cutlery. !CLANG! !CLANG! !CLANG!I would like to call for for ban of flying - and crash landing cutlery - in pubs and restaurants for the sake or our hearing organs and overall humanity!

Visited on a week day lunchtime when not over busy. On initial order barmaid not over helpful, but at least I was served. On ordering more drinks, same barmaid - after initially ignoring me - asked if she could help, and then simply walked off after I gave my order. She reappeared five minutes later and again asked if she could help me! At least she served me on this occasion.Food was fine, although expensive for the small portions.I got the impression that this pub which serves its regulars well, but has less interest when people they do not know visit.A pity, as quite a nice pub in its decor and setting.

6 of us came here menu & the specials board was quite diverse,I had the roast lamb £13.95. The desserts were a bit pricey at £5-95 at the time there was 3 choices, the only thing is they don't do custard it's either cream or ice cream with the desserts, staff were good and friendly even thou they were busy.

We went to the New Inn on a Friday evening and it was a nightmare. The bar service was abysmally slow and the food was overpriced. We had difficulty fiding a table. But our real issue was there was a large crowd of people who were out of control shouting and singing and despite other customers and ourselves complaining the staff did nothing to control this group of people. We could hardly hear ourselves speak.,In view of our bad experience, It is highly unlikely we would visit this pub/restaurant again.

A Nice traditional pub located on the lovely Ham Common. the interior is very pleasant and the service is good, We thought the food was average but rather expensive more restaurant prices than pub prices. order food t the bar and is delivered to your tables. The toilets in the pub could do with a complete refurbishments, Free parking around the Common.

Its woth a visit, i have been here a dozen times over the years. It has nice staff, decent beer, good food and a place to sit outside. I found some of the food was a bit pricey for a pub considering it wasn't mind blowing quality, but still a great place uo go.

We have visited The New Inn several times and always found the staff very friendly and helpful. The food is excellent and there is a lot of it. There is a very pleasant garden at the rear which is really nice on a sunny day. Can get a bit crowded so always worth booking in advance if possible. I would highly recommend this pub.

If you talk about the New Inn purely as a pub it is excellent. Vert tradition. friendly and pleasant staff and good cask beer and wine. But to eat we found it very expensive charging restaurant prices and not pub prices. Also we were put off by chIldren running around the pub out of control and the staff just let it happen. we cerainly would not return to eat but maybe for a drink when it was not the school holidays.

Taking advantage of a sunny Saturday in London, i went cycling to Richmond Park with few mates. After cycling for far more than i am used to, we went to this pub. Was quite busy and luckily got a table outside. Is a lovely place, nice & comfy food - which was all i needed at the time. Fish & Chip was lovely - so was the very cold glass of pinot grigio :-) Definitely going back next time i venture cycling to Richmond.

This is a nice traditional British pub with a lovely homely atmosphere. The staff are great. The meals are large portions but rather expensive. We visit here a couple of times a month sometimes for a meal but more often for just a couple of drinks. We have leant to avoid Friday evenings when it very busy and it gets uncomfortably crowded and nois. Any other time is fine.

So we find ourselves at mothers only pub she ever visits. She loves this place. We arrived on Sunday 1st May at 12pm thinking get there early will not be busy....wrong...20 people waiting to get in!! In we go get a table for 7 easily. Me pint of 1664 others bottle of malbec which i was told was awesome. Food was ordered at bar by very friendly staff and enough so not waiting. Food came and all was great. 2 salmon dishes were slightly altered with no qubblies were fantastic my wife and mum in law said. Fathers venison ragu bologanise lovely. Kids fish n chip's crispy and lovely. Now here is the only negative and that is because i am a steak snob. I ordered the sirloin steak at £21 which was cooked perfectly (rare...Why cook n e more!!) was so small. I want BIG!!! £21 for a steak that was about 4 inches long come on!! However this us an excellent place for a pub lunch. Good relaxed atmosphere, good food and lovely booze. As with all my reviews would i go back......YES i would!! (Should of gone with my favourite. ..the house rack of ribs!!)

We were planning a trip to Ham House in Richmond with lunch first with some friends from the USA. Not knowing the area particularly well we first of all booked a table at the Hand & Flower pub nearby. However, I was worried about the lack of a car park and when I saw a photo showing yellow lines on the road outside I realised it would not be suitable for one of our party who is less mobile than the rest of us. So I cancelled that booking and instead booked The New Inn. I'm so glad that we did. There was on-street parking right outside, the staff were very friendly and the food was very good indeed. The pub has lots of atmosphere (originally built in the 17th century) and is not overly large but it felt just right to us. The price was good too - about £20 per person for a very good sized main course, wines and tip. Would definitely go back again if we're in the area.

Coeliacs? Take your chances! Love Kew. Members for years. First visit since becoming Coeliac. No labelled GF options. On investigation, this was not obvious, some salads, were available, but were self service and cross-contamination was rife. Assistant didn't initially understand this but kindly went and got me some fresh from the kitchen. No cakes or sandwiches were available in any restaurant. Disappointing really.
