Met my friends and sat at the bar with the managers and we had good chat. I was drinking Bank's beer and it was very good. The bar was kept open (within the lawful time), to accommodate my friend arriving late from work, Gilly the bar manager will do this if he knows that a late comer is to visit. I will visit again.

First and last, after waiting an hour and a half for our meals we weren't served what we ordered. The young lady behind the bar needs to be more polite and smile more, never felt so uncomfortable in front of such a young miserable waitress. Where we are from the customers are always in the right. No apology, no nothing. If you are looking for for a nice friendly, it's definitely a no.

We went here for Xmas day lunch it was brilliant the food was excellent the service was spot on and very friendly thank you it made our xmas will definitely be visiting again

Had a brilliant night out for festive fayre. Staff were lovely and welcoming and the food was beautiful. We enjoyed some cocktails and decided to rebook for our next night out in the new year!

This pub has been ruined the character of the pub has been stripped away from the community who loved the building. Now it's like visiting a cafe bar without character. No disrespect to whoever has it now. Its down to the thick people who tried to design a good pub but massively failed. My friends will back me for the honesty.

Shocking, we’ve been visiting this pub for years, came down today (30th July) and there’s a partition on the bar to get rid of the manager, apparently Marstons have sacked him and he and the bar staff are falling out, no wonder it’s empty, need to find another pub

Have always liked the Finney Good pint, local to me and food is usually better than the average, as it was on our latest visit. But please please try to organise things a little better. There were 5 of us in total and twice we were presented with food that we hadn't ordered, the meals were actually for another table. We did get what we ordered, eventually and it was to it's normal high standard but no cutlery or condiments. We forgot you have to help yourself from the bar area. No cutlery there except a couple of knives that really were not clean. We were reasonably promptly supplied with clean cutlery from the kitchen but again we had to go rummaging in the bowls of condiments to get what we needed. Now all that might seem as nit picking but really it detracts from what could be a really good dining experience. Please, please, why not ensure each table has its own condiments and why not ensure each meal comes with the right cutlery. It won't stop me/us from going back again, the prices are reasonable and the food is better than average but I'm sure that business is being lost because of it.

Arrived for dinner with my daughter staff were very friendly and welcoming could not do enough for us the mixed grill was tasty the meat was nice and juicy and little ones food was spot on highly recommended thanks guys

As soon as I walked In the door I had an incredibly enthusiastic individual by the name of Alex greet me and my friends, the staff are very warm and welcoming especially joe and Chelsie, we ordered wings and ribs and the Mac & cheese the presentation and flavour was impeccable, all around great pub high key recommend!

Went out for the Thursday night steak club and was banging we had 2 rump & 2 sirloin, unfortunately they're wasn't any mushrooms, due to on going supply issues however we had some sauteed peppers & onions. Change from a fifty 4 people with a drink each definitely worth it

Absolutely disappointed ordered a mega grill to share with my partner food comes it's a normal mixed grill to which I complain to then be told I need to pay the extra before my food will be cooked in any other establishment within which I work I'm sure you would be offered some sort of compensation or a free drink not you need pay the difference if your staff listened to what I was ordering there wouldn't be this confusing and annoying lapse in our family members eating there meal while we are still waiting! Staff attitude was apauuling, made to feel it was our fault!!! Disappointed

We popped into The New Finney Gardens at Bucknall to have a bite to eat. At the bar as we chose our drinks and enquired about food we were informed that we were just in time to order our food before the food service closed for the night. Now normally at this late stage we wondered if our menu options would be depleted due to being one of the last customers of the day. We were pleasantly surprised that we could request every dish on the menu….even at this time of night. We settled on the Steak and Ale pie that came with chips, garden peas and gravy. And I have to commend the chef on duty, the pie was bursting with pieces of tender steak and just enough coating of gravy that melted in your mouth. The pastry as well was delicious, lt was just the required thickness and it crumbled in your mouth. Now I know chips are chips and there isn’t a lot you can say about chips but….these are the best tasting and fluffiest chips that I have ever tasted, and it was nice to have a good serving of gravy in the gravy boat and it was sufficient enough to cover the whole plateful….I like lots of good tasting gravy! And the staff, I can honestly say that from the moment we entered the door we were treated as if we were the most important customers that entered the pub that day. And it wasn’t just a one off either, everyone that came after us were given the same warm welcome. Staff were very friendly and nothing we asked for was too much trouble…they were happy to help and had big smiles. All areas of the building were clean and neat, and we were told that the the food preparation area had just nearly two weeks ago been given a five star rating! I would recommend a visit here to everyone, we walked through the door as a couple who decided to have something to eat out to save cooking ourselves and we left with a come back soon! I can safely say that yes we will be back, there are lots of yummy menu options to work our way through.

Myself my wife and my son have just been here for a lovely family meal.My wife had the scampi which she absolutely loved, and my son had a burger which he absolutely woolfed down.I myself am very fussy and particular about my steak but everybody is worth a try, so obviously if I don't enjoy it we don't eat there again. Now I ordered my steak 'rare and on a cold plate'.When it arrived I jabbed it a couple or three times with my knife and immediately seen the myoglobin oozing out. (Great sign).I then lifted it up and could see that it was well sealed top and bottom, (another tick in the box from me).As soon as I cut into it my knife just sliced through as if it was going through butter, and the taste was just WOW I really couldn't put it any other way. As The Finney Gardens is our local we decided to go fo tea n hope that the food had improved since the last time we had visited.It had but only slightly.I hate to put negative comments as I’m a cook n know how hard work catering is but sadly even though my husbands beef midras was lovely my cheese tart was dry and over cooked,really u can’t go wrong with warming up a cheese flan as I certainly didn’t expect home made but it was rubbish.Chef,come on if u want to build trade u really need to get the basics right.We will try again next wk n hope for better things

Burgers were dry and over cooked. Buns were stale and burnt. Chips were cold. Buffalo Chicken wings were cold and disgusting. Cheesy Garlic bread was like a piece of soggy bread. No garlic or cheese. We won’t be eating here again!

Been here many times and had fab meals, todau however the lovely ladies were missing, the guy behind the bar was telling everyone their dinner would be 20 minutes! No fish and chips at 2pm on buy 2 for 10 pound friday! No yorkshire pudding stack. Finally chose pies, when the came nearly 1 hour later the pastry was hard and the filling very poor.Dirty tables, dirty toilets, so so sad, because weve enjoyed so many meals here, just hope the ladies return soon?

New management are very good and welcoming, with no rushing you out at closing time with the threat of plastic take away tumblers. Some old regulars have returned.

Pleasant surrounding and good selection of food but staff don’t understand a side salad and an actual salad meal and when asked told us to just read the menu. Very helpful need to interact with customers particularly when they weren’t busy. The meal we chose was very nice though.

It was good Friday and myself and family members decided to meet up for a catch up and to eat. On arrival we see a large table vacant. As we were looking through the menu another family member joined us so in total there were 5 adults and 4 children. When we ordered the food we were told as we were a large party we would be waiting up to 1 hr for our food to arrive , to this we assured the staff at the till point that this was quite acceptable and we didn’t mind at all in waiting. After only 10 minutes our food started to arrive and we were pleasantly surprised. The only thing missing was a side of salad I had ordered so I reminded the lady , who had bought our food , I was sniggered at and abruptly asked “but did you order one “ . I found this a strange response as I wouldn’t be saying it was missing if I hadnt ordered it and paid for it. When she returned with the salad seconds later she again abruptly said, infront of all other diners ,” in future book before you turn up as this has put a huge strain on the chef ! My whole table were completely flabbergasted, we were all made to feel very unwelcomed . A comment to be given to us just as we were about to eat our food was not acceptable ! When she returned a few minutes later to clear an empty table in the opposite corner of the room I challenged what she had said . I asked where does it say to book ? She said come on , it’s good Friday and that I should no that I needed to book ! My reply,well I’m very sorry but I did not no I needed to book and why was our order and money taken then ? I was told, well we aren’t going to turn you away are we , I replied I would rather you turn us away than be spoken too in this way. The lady constantly repeated herself saying what a strain this has put on the chef, it was now far too late to rectify the situation as she was not accepting anything I said and I’m sorry if 5 adults and 4 children caused such a strain as we were all prepared to wait for our food ! Myself and my family have been meeting hear for many many years and have always found the staff to be pleasant , I cannot understand why we were spoken too in this manner ,our meal was ruined and we were all deeply offended , we will not be returning.

Booked the car in for some work and this was the nearest respite. Nice! Very friendly staff, cheap drinks (£4.60 for a pint of Stella and a Diet Coke) and cheap (well cooked) food. And guess what, semi-reformed smokers? They let you vape at your table.Brilliant!

The decore is a little tired and the place has the general appearance of an old large pub catering for locals and passing trade. There is a large car park, and an outside seating area. Families are welcome and during school holidays this place becomes very busy. We called here for lunch and had a terrific mini fish chips and peas for only £4.25 per person, but we also had the inclusive deal and got a lovely fruit cobbler with custard or ice cream for just an extra £1. The fish chips and peas were great, fresh, really crispy batter just brilliant, likewise the cobbler, great food at low cost can be had here. A mention for the staff also, fast efficient service, with a smile. Cheap and cheerful, lovely atmosphere, nice clean tables despite the tired decor. Well worth a visit, we will be going back! If you live nearby ideal as a local eatery for good food and value.

Having read the previous review, as a regular diner here I feel the need to express the positive dining experience that I always receive.Had various things off the menu which have always been fresh, hot and tasty. Nothing is ever too much for the lady and gent that always serve us, very polite and accommodating.Don't know what more people want from a pub really??? If things aren't up to scratch, im sure the staff would prefer to be informed so that they can rectify things, rather that food being left and negative things been put on here.Will be returning soon no doubt for another good value meal.

Completely & Utterly-TERRIBLE-FOOD! I had the mix grill. When I bit in to the pineapple it oozed ransid pork juice, everything tasted the same GREASY, RANSID PORK FAT - YUK, YUK, YUK! It completely spoiled my Son's Birthday treat (breakfast out). Only 1 person out of 5 of us ate their meal :( I Recommended YOU NEVER EAT HERE, KEEP ON DRIVING, do your self a favour, EAT SOMEWHERE ELSE. I visit this pub as it is quite a lot as I just live around the corner and it's a very nice friendly pub. Dogs are allowed in the bar and there are always plenty in there, and there is a guest ale on rotation and the food is fine for a pub. The owners and staff are always friendly and welcoming, well worth a visit if you're in the area.

A basic venue with good real ale though. Main road area and lots of kids running around needs a children's area. Not many specials on offer menu very comprehensive and it seams a shortage of napkins available but we managed through.

Lovely friendly staff. There were 9 of us and 7 of the meals we originally wanted they didn't have. Same for the desert. The meal were big and plentiful. Yes I would recommend and yes I'd go again

I love this place! Food is of healthy portions, staff are friendly, great cost to food ratio, lovely are to sit outside. Only thing is it is next to the road but you can deal with that.

I've eaten here a few times, mainly because it was a friend's local pub and she was a regular. The food is ok and decent value but the place itself feels like a local pub. If you don't live in the area, I don't think it has the same appeal than if you do. It feels a bit rough and you feel a bit of an outsider if you are just casually calling in, especially in the back room.I wouldn't think of going again if I didn't know someone who lives nearby.

I always go the Finney, if it's with my friends for some beers or for food it suits me. The three courses are amazing value for money and all the staff are amazing.

Visited on a weekday afternoon in May. Read favourable trip advisor reviews and decided to give it a try. I had 2 course lunch club for £4.75. That was jalapeno poppers for starter - okay- then small cod & chips plus peas-okay but chips pretty bland.To be honest the fish & chips off the 2 for £7.50 menu at the Man in Space in Trentham is better!!!! The fish portion is bigger, although not cod, but I would say even tastier than cod!!! My partner had veggie tacos and chips which she enjoyed. From my point of view I won't be rushing back, sorry.

Well, being vegetarian I can't fault this place for choice!In many places I feel like Jimmy Carr might as well be standing there yelling "Make do or (clear) off!" at me while everyone else laughs and applauds him.My experience today was a pleasurable surprise.A surprise admittedly in the sense I had more than one option - although the cauliflower cheese tart was never going to be a contender, and the "pizza burger" (recommended by the barman who wasn't vegetarian!) also remained unchosen.A surprise too in the unlikely fusion of Chinese "Bang Bang" vegetables (dominant flavours according to the menu were coconut and cinnamon) served in a Mexican style "taco" arrangement, complete with slim French fries and a spicy 'slaw. I had a choice of sauce and opted to the "Nando's" style Piri Piri.(There's also a "Brinner" you can have - a cross between breakfast and dinner!)Despite the general "averageness" of the quality, it's heartening to know places like this do use some imagination and consider the needs of vegetarians - and there's plenty for them to choose from.Staff were helpful and friendly too.

It seemed that the food was cooked in very cheap fat that left a very strange horrible taste in our mouths the next day we both felt sick and could not eat for at least 24 hrs. They never came and asked if the meal was ok and at the end they never asked if we had enjoyed the meal. The pub was empty apart from another couple who had just had a drink i can understand why it was empty now and if i had known what i know now we would have only had a drink it spoiled our night and i would NEVER go back again NEVER

Decided to take my family for tea, but were very unsure as to where to dine. After driving through most of the potteries, we glanced The New Finney Gardens just off Bucknall Road. After a bit if deliberation we decided that this looked a welcoming venue and we weren't dissapointed. Upon entering the dining area, we were welcomed by two very pleasant bar staff. I decided to opt for the loaded chicken with Peri Peri sauce. My lady went for the fish and chips and my daughter had the all day breakfast. Unfortunately I was informed that they had run out of the 1/2 roast chicken, but did go on to explain that the chef was willing to stack a few chicken breasts on top of one another, or I could choose a different meal. I decided to go for the Stuffed Tacos with chips instead0. When the food arrived (very promptly I might add) it was fresh and very hot. The slight requests we asked for had been fulfilled, and the waitress enquired if everything was OK. My tacos were loaded with Chipotle pulled chicken, salad, Peri Peri sauce and guacamole. The chips on the side were hot and ample. The portion sizes were generous, and there were three empty plates by the end of the meal. After the meal we had space for puddings which consisted of a bubblegum sundae, and two chocolate fudge cakes served with ice cream. The cake was moist and rich and very tasty, my daughter ate all of her sundae and as kids do, she said it was Amazing! Prices very extremely reasonable, with my tacos and chips costing only £6.30, cake at £2.75 and a pot of tea at £1.50, it was a good meal out that didn't break the bank. We will definitely be dining here again. Tip top venue!

Lovely cup of tea served in a pot and very well priced. Staff lovely, nothing too much trouble. Food presented nicely and always hot, obviously freshly cooked. Varied menu and lots of special deals. both lunch and evening meals are good.

5 of us ate at lunch time ranging from age 25 to 89, everyone food was hot and fresh and rxcellent value for money, food bill came to just under £29 which was a nice suprise, 3rd visit and will be back.

We found the pub/ restaurant to be very clean with very helpful bar staff ,the food menus was comperensive ,our choice was sirloin steak with side dish, of French, fries. And salad ,although the restaurant was busy waiting time was only fifteen minutes ,we had no complaints .the price we paid including two drinks was less than twenty pounds.it is a restaraunt wort a second visit.

Myself (Angela) and my best friend (Sheila) usually treat ourselves once a week to dining out for lunch and seem to make our choice between a couple of pubs in the area - and The New Finney being one of them - I have to say that since the new menu and new management have arrived - we have found ourselves just returning to The New Finney. The staff are all very friendly and in my opinion cannot do enough for you. We normally have the three course (which is very reasonably priced) but we have tried other items on the menu and been very satisfied. All in all The New Finney has improved immensly and would recommend it to anyone. Go on give it a try you will not be dissapointed.

After a recommendation, we thought we'd try out the New Finney Gardens to see what the new menu was all about; it looked really interesting and the deal on the opening night for three courses was too good to be true! We weren't disappointed; the food was served really quickly and was really exciting! Some dishes, like the Chicken and Waffles, were really surprising and the Blueberry Crumble Cheesecake was excellent! What makes the New Finney even better is that it has a great range of ales and ciders, perfect for me and my partner, and reasonably priced too. Went in for the new menu with family as been recommended by a friend, loads of choice on the menu even for fussy little madam! Enough space to have your own meal without feeling part of someone's else's evening but also intimate enough for quality family dinner - it doesn't feel like a chain pub. Friendly staff and good food, will be coming back again with friends SOON!

We went along to test the new menu; we had 3 courses and they were all incredible(especially the chicken and waffles!) the staff there were incredibly friendly and helpful and the service was attentive and very quick! Will definitely be making it a regular visit!

Came to this establishment for a meal out with work collegues and to test the new menu. One word sums up this evening out: Fantastic!The Service was with a smile and prompt. The value for money was brilliant and the quality of the food was superb. The portion sizes were huge and great for the money. We all leave with full stomachs and smiles on our faces.We are looking to make the night out a regular thing and will definately be coming back again soon.

Great portions with a class wee spin on pub grub you would normally get in other places.Great price, great service, pours a lovely Guinness (the proper way also)I went with friends and had a brilliant time. Get your bums to New Finney Gardens, sit yourselves down and enjoy your time in this lovely pub.

All three of the courses I chose were delicious! Especially the tacos. All of the staff were really friendly and chatty which created a lovely atmosphere. We were served really quickly, even though there was a large group of us and our plates cleared straight away. I'd really recommend this pub to anyone looking to enjoy a nice meal out.

Food is good value. We had the three course lunch and it was under six pounds. Service excellent. We will be back.

Been here with my family and friends a few times and absolutely loved it, something on the menu for everyone and staff really warm and welcoming! Food and drinks reasonably priced and good range of choice and offers!Great separation between bar area for those heading up to town and lounge area where you can wind down with the family!Would recommend phoning and booking a table for best tables.

I really enjoy every visit I pay to the new Finney gardens. The staff always remember me and what I drink, they are very friendly, always smiling and always up for a laugh in this fun, cozy pub environment. Me and my friends feel comfortable here. The food is fantastic, hot and tasty and the wait is very short about 10-15 minutes. There is a wide selection of food on the menu to fit everyone's personal taste. We never get bored of the menu as it changes every 6-8 months. Highly recommend the steak! The bar is packed almost every Friday and Saturday night, there are offers on some of the drinks like '5 bottles for a tenner' and 'two cocktails for £7' there is a pool table also:) this pub is great for people of all ages!!
