Disappointing food was greesy. Won't be returning again

This is the best Chinese food I've ever had and very affordable. I'll be back

I ordered a take-away. It was absolutely horrible. It was over-cooked and cold. This is the last time.

Very quick service on a busy Christmas eve and food was excellent.

Sadly I ordered vegetarian spring rolls and the ones I received had meat in them. Not only did this ruin my meal but 2 portions cost £8.20 I rang to explain and was asked to bring them in the following day as they were worried about their supplier, not my ruined meal. I asked for a refund and they said they’d give me one portion back. I said no both portions had meat in them!! I went the following day to give them back and receive my refund but they did not answer the door or the phone. I had a mobile number and they didn’t answer that either. I am disgusted at their lack of concern regarding giving meat products in a vegetarian meal or that they didn’t answer when I offered to go back the following day. Awful food and awful customer service. Find a different Chinese takeaway!!

Unfortunately not a great first visit to here. The food was generally average, especially the chicken dishes as the chicken was extremely processed. It's always a worry when chicken is dished up in cubes and this proved to be the case. The spring rolls were fine and the rice dishes were OK, as were the chips but overall I can only give 3 stars as the main dishes weren't great.

The food here is so disgusting I would not feed it to a pig I ordered prawn balls last night what a joke the batter was so hard and dry that the dried up old prawn just pulled straight out The spare ribs were cut into tiny tiny pieces and the pot had been filled up with sauce. No meat just all bone and they were £6.60.Absolutely disgusting. IF YOU WANT GOOD TASTY FOOD THAT IS EDIBLE THEN GO TO CHOPSTICKS IN HERSEDEN. THE FOOD THERE IS SO MUCH BETTER THEN EATING THIS RUBBISH

This is without question the worst Chinese takeaway we have ever had. And tbh we have eaten at many over the years. The crispy shredded chilli beef literally tasted like pieces of fatty batter with zero meat content. We ordered four different dishes and all of them were poor. We threw it away without finishing it. I have never left reviews before but I felt compelled to do so for this to help prevent others making the same mistake we did. Avoid ❌

In my opinion this is still the best Chinese takeaway in Canterbury.

We had a chicken curry and chicken fried rice and a chicken chow mein it was terrible no flavour with was dry iam not going her again waist of money to be honest

Best Chinese takeaway in Canterbury. Been going here for years and never had a problem. Food always ready in about 20 mins, service is friendly, easy to accommodate vegetarians.

Firstly, the current food is not terrible. But it does not quite compare to the food served by the previous ownership/chef. In the past, this was the takeaway of choice for all Chinese food in canterbury, particularly specialising in the crispy shredded beef and Singapore fried rice dishes. (This was honestly the best I have tasted anywhere in the uk) The food now being served is far from terrible but is now best described as average.

The mixed vegetable curry consisted solely of under cooked green peppers and onion and two mushrooms. The king prawn curry wasn't any better with six prawns in a mass of onion plus two garden peas! Both dishes were swimming in oil and a glutenous brown sauce without any flavour. At one end of a so called vegetarian roll, there two pieces of beef and a prawn and the vegetarian rice asked for came complete with chicken! We will NEVER use this place again. Giving one star is overrating the place.

I order some spare ribs and curry sauce. It was absolutely not worth of price i paid. Spare Ribs protion too small and curry sauce was just you can measure 3 table spoon. One pack of ribs was unusual taste, may be the meat quality was bad. I have to through away some pieces. This take away is not making any quality food now a days. Needs improvement!!!!!!!

By far the best Chinese takeaway in Canterbury - friendly staff and food is always 10/10. The Singapore noodles and crispy chilli beef are so tasty. It’s not at all greasy and never a disappointment.

As a Chinese take away it is spot on. Decent portions. Tastes nice. Although when its on your plate, it does tend to look rather beige. However, Chicken black bean is nice and spicy and my son loves the crispy chicken balls. The complimentary chicken salad with peanut sauce is a lovely touch. Perhaps even my favourite. Its a stable choice for our family when the cupboards are bare. Will definitely go back.

1 because the food was in time.....missing mixed food! And all I got was a sorry, until I told them I want my money back! But I was too late kids already started eating it otherwise it would of gone back just for my money. First & last time never again.

I have been using this takeaway for years. I picked up a meal tonight . Fried beancurd with green pepper chilli & black bean sauce. My wife has been a vegetarian/vegan for over 30 years. Tonight she found chicken in her meal. When I called the takeaway it felt that I was lying about the chicken in the meal. And I was first offered the money back for the above meal at a cost of £5.50. But was then given full refund. The principal of this is our meal has been ruined and left wife feeling sick with the thought of having meat in her body. I will not be using the takeaway again.

Had the set menu E for two people Staters & Mains really nice . Hot & fresh . Nice staff .

Without doubt, the worst takeaway I've ever had. The rice was overcooked and the Green Curry just tasted of sugar. I'll eat anything when I'm hungry but I just couldn't eat it and so I took it back and was met with aggression. Don't go there, It's dreadful.

The BEST chinese i have ever had. I do not normally leave reviews but i had to on this occasion. The Singapore Fired rice was amazing. And the king prawns. 5 STAR. Would make the journey from London for this.

This business is family run, and the service was fantastic - prompt and friendly. Our food was made quickly, and it was one of the most delicious takeaways I have had in a very long time. Will definitely return when next in the area.

All right for students I guess. A bit over priced for cheap ingredients but it fills a hole.

I’ve tried every Chinese in Canterbury and New Far East wins every time! Not only are the portions huge for value but the flavours are just incredible, I refuse to go anywhere else now. Only problem is they don’t deliver, which can be slightly off putting if you’re hanging out your arse and fancy a cheeky Chinese, but honestly the drive is worth it, plus they’re super friendly and have really good customer service in my opinion.

Always been to this Chinese for the last 10 years until slightly moved out of the area into Chartham a year ago but decided to have one last week as my local Chinese closes on a Monday and remembered how good new Far East always was ...the chips in gravy was black like tar the pork was chewy the rice was soggy chips were stale and hard definitely reheated very disappointed as this Chinese used to be the best in Canterbury of anyone reads the review highly recommend happy express wincheap or chop chop in st dunstans

Food was great and the lady working there was lovely, they even gave us extra spring rolls. Chilli beef is the best we have tried!

10th dec 2020 My partner and I have been long time fans of new far east. Whenever family come to visit we order. For us the thing that set this place apart from other chinese takeaways was the perceived higher standard of raw ingredients and not just a luninous "english version" of a chinese dish. It truly saddens me to say that tonights meal was below par. We just felt that the spring rolls were lacking in contents and flavour and the sweet and sour chicken balls were exceptionally doughy and lacking in chicken. Maybe the chicken on skewers a little more "stretchy!?" I really hope the staff do not take this as a true "complaint" as such but rather that we truly hope that any menu changes and ingredients have been made due to falling on harder times (completely understandable!). We just hope this is a blip and something that will get back to normal soon (please!!). We are still currently loyal customers.

The prawn toast smelt gone off, the chicken was raw and the duck seemed about 3 days old and very very dry. I have had food here before, but today I spent more than 30 pounds and only to throw it away. (I never complain, but really feel this was a bad service and absolutely no offer of my money back) Avoid!!!!!!!

We have again had a delicious takeaway this evening. Enormous portions, delicious food and great value. We will be eating this for the next few days! Highly recommended - and collection ready on time.

Grabbed a takeaway from here, as it's one of very few Chinese takeaways open on a Monday night. The service was friendly and reasonably quick. The food was good overall. I would recommend the Hong Kong style sweet and sour which was very tasty. The Szechuan pork was very much what I would expect. Unfortunately we didn't get the right rice. I ordered egg fried rice and got a plain fried rice, which was unfortunate, but not a disaster.

Rang up and ordered and told it would be an hour. Turned up on time and still had an extra 30 minute wait. Not somewhere I will be using again 😞

The restaurant serve the best Chinese take away in town. I was really pleased with my last visit. The food was delicious, served hot and fresh. Large portion with reasonable price, can't believe I didn't know about it earlier. Definitely going back again very soon.

Regular customer of this takeaway over the years. Friendly owner and staff. Unfortunately, our last order will be our last. My partner found a foreign object in her chow mein (see photo). It was about 4 inches long and was either some sort of metal or packaging which had become harder/sharper due to being cooked in a wok. She only just avoided swallowing it and had to hook it out from the back of her throat. It cut her as she was pulling it out. Phoned the takeaway and was offered a free chow mein next time. This was not an appropriate response to what could have been a very serious situation.

Absolutely disgusting food, the kitchen should be investigated by a health inspector, food under cooked and the staff are so rude, they don't even deserve the 1 star. As soon as i posted this review, the very next day 2 good clearly fake reviews were posted to hide this review from immediate view. DONT USE THIS TAKEAWAY ITS DISGUSTING

We had a delicious take away on Saturday. Very tasty and enormous portions. Two mains and a rice and chow mien lasted three meals each. Very fresh and vegetables still crunchy. My only advice is that it is very busy on a Saturday, so maybe better to choose a different night.

I got a takeAway for me and the other half and gotta say was disappointed usually it’s good and rate the Far East takeaway but unfortunately this time was poor. The chicken balls were not great when you bite into them the whole inside of the chicken comes out so you are just left with the batter in your hands , the egg fried rice was bland I didn’t think there was egg in it as couldn’t taste it and the chow mein was ok. Other dishes were average..

In my opinion the best Chinese Takeaway in Canterbury. Best Chilli Beef by far. I have to pass 3 other Chinese takeaways to get to this Takeaway. Have been using this place for 20 years plus with no issues. Good choice menu. Gluten free and vegan could be highlighted more clearly.

Best Chinese in Canterbury! Tasty, big portions, always happy staff. Ordered £100 of stuff the other week and was all great as normal and ready on time. Only 4 stars because they don't deliver, and their satay chicken is literally just sandwich chicken with peanut sauce.

Best Chinese in this town. Food always fresh and tasty

Oh wow, this Chinese restaurant and takeaway is by FAR the best food I've tasted in my entire life. This was a great find. I first used this restaurant back in 2001 and on further visits, the last being 2018. They always remember me and are very welcoming but the food is outstanding. The quality and quantity are second to none, but the price is even better. I really don't know how they keep their prices so low. Please, if you happen to go to Shanklin on the Isle of Wight make sure you visit this wonderful establishment, you won't be disappointed. If I could give this 10 stars I most certainly would. Best food ever.

일주일 정도 캔터베리에 머무르며 이곳 저곳 맛있다고 하는 레스토랑을 다 들러보았지만, 테이크아웃 전문점인 이 곳이 제일 맛있네요. 모르는 곳을 여행할때면, 레스토랑을 찾기 위해 트립 어드바이저를 늘 참고하지만 직접 리뷰를 남기지는 않는데, 여기는 꼭 리뷰를 남겨야겠어요. 가격에 비해 양도 푸짐한 편이고, 모든 음식이 적절한 맛을 내도록 불맛, 바삭한 맛이 느껴지도록 잘 조리되어 있습니다. 이 곳에 처음 온 날로 되돌아 간다면, 여기에 매일 출근할것 같아요. 여기서 앞으로 공부할 제 아들이 하이스트릿까지 힘들게 가지 않고도 와서 사갈 음식이 있다는 것에 감격해 합니다. 정말 맛있어요!

This is the worst Chinese food we have ever ordered. The duck was like a dried up piece of leather, the hors d'oeuvres tasted like they were off (particularly the prawn toast) and we decided not to take the chance with the rest, so binned them. Will not be returning.

Got the food home one item wasn't what I orded. Hofun noodles tasted like elastic bands. Should have been mixed meat bit only 2 meats. Orange chicken sauce had pineapple chunks in it plus the chicken was very dry. Asked for 2 large spring pancake rolls and got 9 small over cooked ones. Spare ribs where spot on. Did call to complain about bit the person behind the counter told me that I didn't order the large spring rolls. I know what I orded. All in all not very good not very happy have had better Chinese takeaway in Canterbury. Won't be using this place again.

This is one of our favourite Chinese takeaways in Canterbury. The food is delicious and staff polite. Lots of choice on the menu and the prices are fairly reasonable.

Orded king prawn balls not a king in site recooked prawns in to much batter that were no bigger than a shrimp! Noodels cooked in dirty oil pancake roll cooked in more batter than you would need for a whole KILOGRAM OF BEANSPROUTS NEVER AGAIN

My partner and I went in there, bought chicken 2 x chow mein, 1 rice, chips and curry sauce. Got home and there was no chips in the bag so my partner went back to get the chips only to be told by the elderly lady behind the counter that she was a liar. The lady was extremely blunt and upset my girlfriend who in the end just bought another bag of chips. Disgusting service! Do you really think she would walk back to try and get a free bag of chips? Never going back again. By the looks of other reviews on here it can't be a coincidence that so many people are getting wrong orders, sort yourselves out. Update: The chips were stale so was probably the bag they forgot to put in with our order 😂😂

I love Chinese takeaways and do not measure them on authenticity. I like the big sweet and salty flavours of British Chinese takeaways and many Chinese do as well.Egg fried rice, Ribs and Sweet and sour pork hong kong style is a pretty good measure for establishments.Ive been 10 years on the road with work, so tried probably hundreds of Chinese takeaways across Britain. My favourite so far is the China Kitchen in Roath, Cardiff and has been for years. But this comes a close second..Currently in the Chaucer hotel Canterbury and left pretty disappointed by the Royal Inn restaurant which is similar distance to the hotel.It gets rave reviews on here. Not sure why. This is well worth sacrificing eating out, for eating back at hotel.Egg fried rice - Average - Good egg fried rice should be white and scorched on the grains from the wok. Ok but not great.Ribs in peking sauce - Phenomenal. Meat fresh, fall off bone. Sauce is just what you want from a takeaway Chinese. Big sweet salty and full of flavour.Sweet and sour pork Hong Kong Style - Amazing, not the usual red/orange sauce. Much tastier. Still crunchy an hour after I brought it home. Meat tender, not full of gristle or rock hard dry. Good service and very friendly. Heard a few £50+ orders coming through on the phone and they were offering experimental dishes free fo charge to those customers. Well done. I will be back to this place very soon. It all feels fresh, insanely tasty and served with a smile.

Había estado en un juego de cricket en la carretera, llamó para comer algo aquí y llevarlo a llevar a nuestro hotel. Pedimos King gambas chow mein 6. 20, arroz frito con huevo 2. 80, y una olla de salsa de curry 1. 90. Estaba bien preparado y muy sabroso para un pequeño restaurante para llevar no podría poner pegas a la comida, hemos comido aquí antes todo bien. Amable personal servicial.

Bueno, el título lo dice todo. Mi esposa y yo estábamos alquilando una casa de campo cerca de Canterbury por unos días y decidimos llevar comida para llevar. Elegimos este para las buenas críticas y el hecho de que estaba cerca. Teníamos chow mein de cerdo asado, curry especial con arroz frito y algunas costillas de repuesto. Gave me the wrong food. Asked me to bring the wrong food back. Demanded I pay again for new food. Didn’t even get a refund for the first lot they messed up!

Really good little gem on the south side of the city. Easy to park. If you phone first then your order will be done in 20 minutes. The food is consistently hot and tasty at a really good price.

The food was very salty, and they got my order wrong. When I called the staff were really rude to me and refused to fix the problem. I will never use this takeaway again.. they don’t even deserve one star.

A good takeaway - wide ranging menu and quick service

The only Chinese takeaway I go to and have been doing so for 15 years. Food is always great and the portion sizes are large enough for two people (or the day after if you're not into sharing :D). Staff are friendly and polite though they are often busy. The only downside is there are no delivery options.

The food is amazing i was staying in the area for work. I live in Essex and when I tell you the food is amazing it really is better than my area .A really good portion didn’t finish it and took it to work for lunch and make sure to order the Hong Kong chicken balls amazing I tell you, that alone can fill you up trust me. Lovely service as well
