Great salads and avocado sandwiches

Hunting around east grinstead Sunday morning for a gluten free sandwich! Not only was my sausage sandwich great but the iced crème brûlée with almond milk was also fantastic 😀

We went here because the reviews where good but they most definitely DID NOT live up to it the scones were dry to the point of being inedible the toasted sandwich was tasteless even the chai latte had very little flavour

such a lovely owner, my friend and i were walking at around half 5pm (after they shut) we were looking at the menus on the window and he very kindly unlocked the door and offered to let us sit in so we could have a break we ordered two milkshakes, which he said was on the house will be returning!!

Went for afternoon tea with friends. Couldn't fault the food or the service. We sat downstairs so it meant a lot of stairs for the very helpful and cheerful staff! The sandwiches were fresh and very tasty, the scones taken away and warmed when we were ready to eat them, endless tea and a fabulous piece of lemon drizzle cake to finish. We were so full the cake went home with us! Couldn't fault the food or service and will definitely be back.

Booked for Afternoon Tea today. It was exceptional. Great attention to detail by helpful, friendly Staff. Selection of very fresh, well filled sandwiches. Good selection of cakes with the most delicious scones which they offered to warm up. Will definitely be going back and would highly recommend

Great little cafe, sausage and bacon sandwiches are gorgeous, and staff are always friendly, and you can take your doggie in as well, and they get a biscuit 😀

Jenna made the absolute best Almond Latte I have had in town. Head there and ask for her! Also, their GF, Dairy Free and Vegan Bakewell tastes amazing and better for us. Try that too!

It’s a large cafe and it’s a shame they didn’t have a kitchen with an oven and stove. So we couldn’t have anything heated up because they only have a microwave. So I had to have a salad and my boyfriend had very strange bread that was like thin pitta bread. I liked the coleslaw and the bizarre snotty textured French vinaigrette looked like it had chilli flakes in it but it was ok tasting I just hope it didn’t have rapeseed oil, as that was modified in the 70’s and the pollen makes me sneeze so I know I’m allergic to it. It was a chilled place. But it was a shame they didn’t have an electric stove like in other cafes. Because microwaves destroy the molecules of the food or liquids. Just feed your plant or animal and you will see the plant die and the dog won’t touch it. I liked the decor and that it’s dog friendly. Looks like they had a good selection of coffees and teas but I don’t drink tap water Dave had normal tea.

Fantastic little café! Popped in for a coffee about 4.30pm and we were delighted to find it was open until 5. The girl who served us was really friendly and there was no hint of clockwatching that you sometimes get in other places near closing time. The coffee was the best we've tasted in a long time and the scone was great too. Well worth a visit if you're in Sevenoaks.

The managers attitude there is shocking, other staff very lovely This morning at 10.20am I ordered breakfast for myself and other half to be delivered which was due to arrive at 11.10am. 11.20 still no order so obviously these times can waver I understand, so I check on deliveroo app which Is telling me its still being processed I decided to call the cafe and they told me it was still cooking , so I said I would need to cancel it as won't have time now to eat it by the time it was cooked and sent out to me and would like to cancel. The manager said I would need to do this through deliveroo . Ok Went on deliveroo and it said I needed to deal with the coffee shop itself as they use their own delivery people. So I called the cafe back and the manager now told me it was cooked and being sent out. I told him I didn't want the order now as it was going to be atleast another 20mins before it would be delivered ( bearing in mind this was breakfast and ordered now over an 1hr ago and would be pushing on for being an hr later than expected). His response was it was to late to cancel and it was on its way. 2hrs after I placed order still no food , so I went back on deliveroo which said it was out for delivery. Once again I phoned up the manager who proceeded to tell me he had cancelled my order as I said I was going out so therefore why would he bother delivering it. My reply was..so you are going to refund me and he said no . 😡 No goods delivered and £25 down, shame as food is good but looking on other reviews on here and also managers response, I see I am not the only person to have an issue withe mangers attitude In response to your reply on here...I was not rude and intact was very lovely to your staff thank ing them for their kindness and how it wasn't their fault. But as I said previously the manager obviously does not have good customer service as stated in other reviews

Empty cafe. ‘We’re busy!’ £10.95 😂😂😂 Update: I gave you a 1 star because you had 4 members of staff standing behind a till scrolling their phones and gassing, telling me you’re really busy. They also underestimated the wait time by 20 mins. In fairness the wrap was quite nice and I rated it 3/5. Google aggregates all the other points.

A great visit spoiled by a rude and aggressive owner/manager. The waitresses and food were great as every visit we have made here. I’ve have taken the same clients here once or twice a year for the past 5-6 years. While leaving with our clients on our latest visit in the vehicle, the owner came over to the car very aggressively and rudely told us not to park in what looks like to be their customer parking spaces. There was no signage to say these spaces were for employee’s only. Apparently, this is own space. This business owner need to learn to talk to people in a respectful way.

Lovely coffee shop and restaurant! We would far rather pay a pound or two more than go to one of the big chains. Nest has a homely, happy atmosphere and the food was delicious and came really quickly, too, with good service and a smile. Really delighted we stumbled across Nest and would highly recommend!

We keep walking past Nest and finally decided to go in today for a quick lunch and sadly, we were a bit disappointed really. The cafe itself is very sweet and it wasn't too busy at all, so everything reached us quickly. Unfortunately, for what you're paying, you get such a tiny spread. £8.75 for a toastie, exactly four tortilla chips, small dollop of coleslaw and then some of the bitty white salad no one likes. I think I would rather not have four lonesome crisps and extras on my plate and just have the sandwich and accept I've spent almost £10 on it without the paltry extras, that quite genuinely seem tacked on to explain why it's a bit pricey when it's just a sandwich. We also ordered a vanilla milkshake (£4.45) which I had to get my boyfriend to take a sip of to prove I wasn't imagining it because it tasted like nothing, just a vague milky flavour. It was a bit of a struggle to finish honestly. Ultimately it is a really sad day when you go into a lovely little cafe and end up thinking "I would have rather just gone to [insert chain cafe]" because it shouldn't be that way, but Nest had us feeling that way.

Always love finding great independent Café’s and coffee shop and this is one for sure. Very warm welcome, great coffee, great environment and selection of gluten free cakes. Love the vibe here too.

Today I urgently required lunch for a group of 45 and Nest came to the rescue providing all kinds of sandwiches (gluten free, vegan, vegetarian) at incredibly short notice all of which were massively well received. Thank you to Steven and the team.

We were a group of friends and we booked afternoon tea. All very tasty, really nicely presented, and we were given one of the cosy basement rooms to ourselves so we were able to chat and relax. Thank you.

Delightful, friendly and helpful staff. Ordered a high tea for two to be delivered to my home as part of a Christmas pressie for my mum, after going to see a show at Chequer Mead. Beautifully boxed array of sandwiches and cakes and teas all ready for when we arrived home. Thoroughly enjoyed . Well worth the charge. I would definitely use the service again. Thank you.

Absolutely shocking! Would have given zero stars if I could have. Barely half a small coffee cup of soup, and a soggy half cooked toasty for the shocking price of £17. ( which is about £2 cheaper on uber eats) I was utterly outraged when I went to eat it, nothing in response from the cafe. Total rip off, shame for an independent, hearing very similar comments from others since. Go elsewhere in town where you can get a soup and half a panini for £7.

Prebooked for a birthday treat as vegan afternoon tea was offered. 40 mins after arrival I was asked if I ate jam (really?) and what I would like in my sandwiches (despite already saying in a phone call from the cafe this morning). I suggest a range of basic items, all things already on the menu. A further 20 mins and my depressing sarnies arrived, consisting of humous and avacado (separately). The chunky salad was added after I asked if they could add some TO the sandwiches 🤭. I asked if the bread was stale or toasted and was told it was GF. Why GF? "Because you're vegan". 🤦‍♀️. Served with GF cakes and clotted cream 🤪. Staff urgently need training in this before someone with serious allergies takes a bite. Also attached is a pic of the cakes my family shared - some look straight out a supermarket tub? Appreciated new sarnies offered and bill being wiped so thank you.

Really cute little book in the east grinstead high street! Really chill vibe with super friendly and amenable staff. I was expecting a cafe with pastries and small bits and bobs so was surprised to be able to get a full on breakfast. Great tea selection and really good food too with decent portions for the price. I had a dirty chai latte as well as pancakes with maple syrup and bacon rashers. They seemed happy to make changes to orders within reason as well which was really nice of them. The whole experience took no more than a half hour but didn't feel rushed in any way. All in all great place and would recommend if you're after a quick stop breakfast and lunch.

I went for breakfast with my parents from Czech Republic who came to visit me. They really did enjoy scramble eggs with bacon and brown bread with butter. They also found the right sweet treat for each of them. We had our bookings made ahead, very friendly and willing environment and stuff! My dad was really pleased to hear Czech language and his eyes became shiny at once he heard his home language "dobre" (good) which makes him happy, welcome and a very good impression. Thank you very much to all staff who were there today! ❤️

Unfortunately I have to agree with the several other recent poor reviews of this cafe. I had a fairly tasteless cappuccino, a warm, bitter orange juice and the worst full English I’ve ever had - everything tasted as though it had been cooked well in advance and then reheated, but the sausages were still cold (and terrible quality), the avocado was hard, and the scrambled eggs were dry and tasteless as they were so overcooked (which was very obvious just from looking at them, so I was surprised we were even served scrambled eggs looking like that in the first place). It definitely wasn’t an issue with the cafe being busy as it was still quite early and we were the only customers that had ordered food, and there were at least 3 or 4 members of staff working. Very disappointed as from the outside (and from the overall Google review score) it looked nice, but I definitely won’t be going back here again.

My fiancé and I visited a few weeks ago after struggling to find a spot for breakfast. After looking at the google rating, we had high hopes but were unfortunately left disappointed. The food was bad and the service also bad. My fiancé’s order was wrong twice and the food took ages. The panini was incredibly basic and we could have bought better from a supermarket. The cafe itself too looked a little dirty. Wouldn’t visit again.

Just had one of the worst English breakfasts of my life. The American-style bacon was very greasy, some of it recently cooked, the rest obviously having been lying around for a long time. The scrambled egg was separated into white and yolk, mostly white. Maybe some of the yolks are kept for baking. Please see the photo. The other two breakfast meals were slightly better but very small portions. The coffee was ok.

2022: Still a lovely independent place. They've added milkshakes which are a big hit with the kids and our gluten free friend can enjoy these ones too. Lovely, friendly staff as ever and the place looks lovely. A few outdoor tables in warmer weather as well. 2019: Lovely local and independent coffee place. Both usual stuff and more interesting items in the menu. Will definitely go back, would like to try their breakfast options. Non dairy milk options and I think some gluten free too.

If I could give 0 stars, I would! DONT BUY FROM HERE!! No effort at all out into ANY of their food - I’ve been let down twice here! I fancied a full English, have this ordered and it turns up all smashed into one tiny takeaway box, beans weren’t even separated so everything was completely mixed and a mess! Appeared as if someone had thrown up on a plate! Visuals aside I attempted to eat it, the sausages had hard gristle which hurt my teeth with every bite, they also tasted incredibly cheap and nasty. They use fake US streaky bacon and don’t even attempt to crisp the fat and it’s all FULL of oil. I obviously expect there to be oil and with a takeaway fry-up to not look the most pretty on a plate BUT I’ve ordered from multiple places a similar option and it’s been of much better standard and quality! After thinking this may have been a one off, I decided to order a Tuna Panini, my mistake. The one which came for my partner had no filling it was a joke! and looked a sloppy mess but we decided to leave it and just not go there again… onto mine; I opened the package, took a few bites and noticed on the underside it was covered in MOULD! I felt so sick I almost threw up! - after phoning and complaining we weren’t offered a refund, instead sent more food! This should have been refunded and new food should have been given for free… Not going to be going here ever again and will be warning others to not either! Appalled, I never like to complain but this was just an awful experience I wouldn’t want others to go through! Images attached as proof.

Just for clarity, due to the owners responce, This review is left for Nest Cafe in East Grinstead - I am not commenting about the Cafe itself, just the owners business ethics.......Avoid. Take out a contract for services for their business in a false name, then complain when services are ceased as they refused to accept terms, or provide legal details for service. Not a business to be trusted me thinks. Your broadband and phones were not "messed up", you just failed to provide genuine business information for us to register your number. Umm, wonder why?? Be very interested to see what "legal action" is being proposed.

Quient little place, nice atmosphere. Tad disappointed soup came with normal sliced bread and not a crusty roll. Also pre buttered and not asked if wanted butter first. Cakes looked delicious but limited on vegan/vegetarian options. I do wish office workers wouldn't hang out for hours in places like these taking up a table for 4 people, taking advantage of free WiFi and heating.

We both had the tuna, cheese and onion toasties. Excellent! The Nest is a little small inside, but if you can get in... it's a marvellous establishment. Definitely recommended.

Wonderful little tearoom tucked away at the end of the highstreet serving tasty food and drinks. We wandered up from the Bluebell railway for some lunch and would definitely come back again!

Its interesting place to go for having tea or coffe or lunch. It’s small cafe on high street, behind the monument. Its very easy to get here. We park our car at waitrose and walk 3 minutes. The food selection were limited but all look interesting. Top floor always busy so we went to basement area which is Ok. The staff were friendly and we’ve got 50% discount as we went here on tuesday. Soup, salad and quiche was delicious. Cafe also provide hand sanitation on each corner and setup table at basement with social distance.

Staff were really polite and friendly. You could see how hard they were working to keep all the customers happy. The cake and coffee was delicious, much better than some other chain coffee shops in terms of food, drink and atmosphere. Would highly recommend and I will definitely come here again.

Best coffee shop in town! They offer variety in both their food and drinks at a reasonable price. The food is all homemade and fresh. I recommend the salad with chicken and halloumi with a mermaid matcha latte. X
