Ness Deli in Highland

The deli has become a regular stop for coffees, cakes, or lunches. The food is always great, there are loads of options available and daily specials. Good selection of drinks too, including local beers. Staff are always friendly and attentive, creating a really welcoming atmosphere. Definitely recommend Ness Deli for a stop in the village.

Stopped off here for lunch on our motorbike tour of Scotland. Flat parking just outside. Clean toilets. Popular spot with cyclists also. Outside dining available, plenty of space inside. Very efficient and friendly staff and a lovely lunch of toasted sandwiches and coffee. Great menu to suit all. Desserts looked amazing but no room for them this time.

In a gorgeous setting in the small village of Drumnadrochit, in the valley overlooking the tall hills of the Great Glen of Loch Ness, a bagpiper was playing brilliantly outside the premises. After leaving a tip in the bagpipe case, iced tea in hand, I stopped in and browsed the dessert case. I chose a small slice of passionfruit cake. What a wonderful delicacy! Brimming with taste, it was the perfect little pick me up!

Outstanding foodserved quickly in a lovely environment. recommend the baked potato with Brie and cranberry. Nice variety in the menu.

To be treated as you didn’t exist manager was so rude walked past table completely ignoring us even when asked to order was blanked attitude was I’m the boss as manager said to staff big tourist area not what I expected and I live in Scotland was here with friends and they were not impressed

Food nothing to shout about. It filled a gap. No kids menu on offer. Lorne sausage was dry and over done. We wouldn’t visit again.

Staff couldn’t have been more welcoming, so friendly :) best coffee I’ve had all week, breakfast rolls were delicious and the cakes we brought home were incredible! Very reasonably priced, definitely worth a visit ⭐️

En nuestra ruta por Scotland, no podía faltar la visita al castillo de Urquhart. Como teníamos entrada a las 13:30, hemos decidido venir a comer al pueblo, y por un tema de horarios nos hemos decidido por éste. ¡La verdad es que ha sido un gran acierto!! Sólo en la entrada tienen un mostrador lleno de pasteles con una pinta impresionante!! El comedor no es muy grande, pero está muy limpio y mimado al detalle. El personal es muy amable y profesional!! El servicio es rápido, y la comida deliciosa y de calidad!! Es un buen lugar para comer y sobre todo no te puedes ir sin probar las tartas!!!!

A quick lunch here while we were waiting on our deep scan boat trip. It was a really busy Friday lunch and quite chaotic. There were signs up to say wait to be seated but then other people just marched in and took a seat. We did wait to be seated and then were forgotten about for quite some time. We did get fed in the end. All mediocre but did the job. Our wee boy loved his smoothie! The village is just beautiful. We caught it in the sunshine and the piper was playing on the village green. Just lovely!

We’ve been in Scotland for two weeks now and here is the best coffee and cakes! We had a double espresso and a flat white and it was the best. And it was not expensive. We also had the raspberry cheese cake. We sat outside is in the sun!

Great place for a full breakfast sitting next to a wood burner! Couldn’t fault anything about the place.

Great COVID-19 practices with signage, masks etc adhered to. Friendly, charming atmosphere, loved the outdoor table space! Staff are super lovely and welcoming. My partner and I sat indoors and tucked into a wonderful English breakfast, saw the local butcher delivering meat so you know it’s good quality! Food was delicious as well, and great value for money. Treated ourselves to a bunch of traybakes after from their cake stand (with a plethora of choice). The Malteser slice is the best traybake I’ve ever bought and that’s saying something!! Will 100% return if back visiting Drumnadrochit.

We passed the Deli on the road to Urquhart castle decided to come back for lunch after our visit to the castle. Lovely place inside all tables had bottles of gel on them. I had baked potato with haggis and cheese my husband had baked potato with Chili. We both thought our baked potato's were lovely and soft. Our children had toasties which they enjoyed. My daughter is quite fussy but thought the deli was lovely. The toilets were lovely and clean.

Back in the area for a short break and decided to visit again (previous visit in July) booked ahead of our visit, tables spread out well and good procedures being followed. We ate inside this time and ordered more meal style food rather than soup and panini. All dishes were well presented and tasted fantastic - nice home made food and well worth a visit. Again we shall return if in the area.

Friendly, efficient service, something for everyone from panini to a hot meal, baked tatties, sandwiches & soup to salads. The best goats cheese & beetroot salad I have ever eaten! Tasty, well presented, plentiful, just yum! Drinks reasonably priced & great to have local beers on tap. We were controlled today (as eating out this evening) but the tray bakes & cakes inside looked divine! You do have to book to eat inside, where it’s cosy thanks to a log burner. Outside having arrived on spec was good, we feasted our eyes past the Drumbuies to Cnoc Snataig

Very friendly and accomodating staff, delicious food, Covid aware restaurant. Was very impressed with the hospitality of the wait staff. Such a yummy quiche and brownie for later!

By far the best place to eat in Drum. Great choices for both cake and lunch. Reasonable prices, good portions and really helpful and friendly staff.

This is a cafe just off the main road. Parking is further up the road which is also free.The time we were there, it was only outdoor seating and so there was a 10 minute wait for a table and it was table service only.This is a bakery/cafe but all the different cakes were all inside and we were not made aware of this after we ordered lunch, which was a shame.Service was a bit slow but we were in no rush.Food was very good and the sticky toffee pudding was excellent.

Nipped in for lunch in early October. Just wanted a quick snack so ordered tea, coffee and 2 toasted sandwiches. They were excellent. Huge toasted filled with delicious fillings, with side salad and crisps. We had ordered a side of fries to share but certainly did not need to - although they were delicious! Excellent service too, fast and friendly. Would highly recommend.

Small place but big portions at great prices. If weather allows take a table outside and watch the world go by at a lovely relaxed pace. Lots of choice, both for food and drink, and the staff all lovely and helpful.

We stopped here on a whim as we passed through and I’m so glad we did ! Really lovely food, we opted for panini / toasted sandwich and they were packed full of delicious filling. Service was very friendly and welcoming too. Fantastic little cafe would absolutely recommend!

Stopped in Drumnadrochit , walked round and found Ness Deli on the green, good coffee and selection of food. Good covid rules in place felt safe. Seating available inside and out. for a coffee, enjoyed

Stopped here for a break and a coffee whilst passing thru Fort Augustus. Nice little atmosphere and a lovely village along the south shore of Loch Ness.

Had a lovely lunch here on our way from Fort William up to Dornoch. Lots to choose from - my jacket potato with chilli and cheese was possibly the best I've ever had and my partner loved his toastie - both came with a good side salad with a tasty dressing. They were really busy but food came out quickly and the lady serving was friendly and welcoming. They were evidently very cautious ensuring everything was Covid safe and throughly sanitised our table and chairs before we were seated. Would highly recommend.

Waited several minutes to get served. The waiter was serving and he did notice us. No attempt to speak to us or communicate in anyway. We were standing at the outside area re covid. We waited and waited. Gave up and went elsewhere. Very poor customer service. What a bad impression for visitors.

We were staying in a BnB next to the deli, we wete going out for a walk and saw how busy the outdoor space wad with people wueing up. We decided to join them soon had a fresy disinfected table and sat down My wife ordered quiche and s fruit scone with a coffee, I just had a cappunchino. The wuiche arrived it was obviously hested in a microwave as the padyry and topping were soggy and the svone was dry and the coffees were so bitter and undrinkable. We would not go back or recommend.

We found this place by accident as we were travelling to our B&B. We had an excellent lunch at a very reasonable price. Service was excellent.

We enjoy our meal here whilst stopping in Drumnadrochit. There are plenty of outside tables so we felt very 'covid secure'. The staff were all wearing masks and respecting social distancing. There is a good menu choice and our food was good. You can have everything from a casual coffee to a full meal so overall a good place to call.

We had two cappuccinos a strawberry tart and chocolate cake. Everything was delicious, clean and good service. The toilets were clean and staff following the covid restrictions well. Worth a visit especially if you get a table outside in the sunshine. Total bill £12.70 We sat outside in the sunshine with our dog. So in that regard they are dog friendly.

We only stopped here for coffee but the food being served to other tables looked very nice and the coffee was good. We sat outside, overlooking the village green and pond. Lovely location and the staff were super friendly.

Fantastic home made food and the home baking was excellent it was a very busy day so the service was good given the circumstances definitely be back

Another place we looked forward to returning to after 2yrs .yoghurt and berries and eggs Benedict, fantastic, as long as weather is kind we'll be back ,great food ,great friendly staff and lovely cakes to take away

We wanted to get some nice and warm breakfast. We ordered offered breakfast for £7 - scrambled eggs, bacon and toast. The scrambled eggs were horrible. I would not recommend.

We had a delicious lunch, sitting outside in the sunshine. The staff were really attentive and very friendly. Venison burger is highly recommended.

Fantastic little cafe with truly excellent food. The homemade cakes and pastries are outstanding and the main meals are superb too. Service came with a big smile and incredibly helpful service. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Food was tasty but it was a shame they weren't participating in the government scheme - don't understand why any business wouldn't if they had the option.Food was tasty and jacket potato soft and generous with the toppings.Service was a bit confusing as we ordered at the table then paid inside. We wanted to buy some cakes but ended up having to take these away as nobody took our order. We went back again but decided to leave as didn't realise it was breakfast menu and didn't fancy it.Nice atmosphere if you're in the area.

Well worth the drive from the North East for the porridge alone. Simply wonderful. Great service and extremely friendly even during a very busy breakfast sitting!!

We have stayed nearby for the past week and have visited the deli about 4 times. Absolutely divine Mars Bar Crispy slice and Malteser slice. Glorious setting with a regular bag pipe player on the green. Will take away fond memories xx

Stopped for coffee and sausage and bacon butties this morning. Food was delicious, excellent service and impeccable toilets. Definitely recommend a visit.

The outside area was open and quite busy.We stood by an empty table waiting for it to be cleared and cleaned. We could see the man clearing the tables and I'm sure he saw us but never made it over to the table in the far corner. He cleared the table next to us and disinfected it very wellso after the ten minute wait we went and sat at that one. Thankfully the service after that was much better. The tea and scone were good and my partners toasted chicken sandwich looked and tasted lovely.So after us feeling put out and unnoticed the food made up for it.The tables and chairs were thoroughly cleaned by the staff before customers could sit down.

We just fancied coffee and a piece so came here, we ate outside as we wasn’t allowed in due to the rules I guess. There was hand sanitiser on all the tables and distancing between the tables but I didn’t feel as comfy here, there was no track and trace either, the first business where we didn’t experience this,my husband had a pot of tea and an apple tart which he said was nothing special and okay I had a latte which was good and hot but the piece of coffee cake I had was very dry and hardly any icing on the top or inside, the toilets were inside and not very well signposted I think, also a wee bit small too but they was clean at least

Stopped in here before heading in Loch Ness cruise and the seafood chowder was one of the best I’ve tasted. Heart bowl with lovely soft fresh bread. If you like chowder definitely try it here. All other food looked delicious, good choice!

Redloulas service waiting ages walked out in the end served people that walked in before us 3 times !

Nous y sommes allés 2 fois en une semaine le midi, personnel très sympathique et efficace. Un rapport qualité/prix excellent. Des produits frais, bien cuisinés. A tester leur délicieux et régressif Sticky Toffee Pudding fait maison, on en devient totalement addict.Juste un petit bémol (dommage que les Chips ne sont pas faites maison mais surgelées), ce serait un plus non négligeable. Pensez à réserver car il y a beaucoup de monde qui vient manger dans ce sympathique petit restaurant.

We arrived at at our hotel around the corner from Ness Deli just before tea time and following a short walk we decided to stop here to eat....and we were do pleased that we did!! My husband had the lambs liver and onions from the specials which he loved and was an extremely generous portion as were the lamb koftas that I had which were do tasty. Our sone had a steak burger and that did not disappoint either. The whole feeling of the place was lovely and relaxing with some fab views. It was obviously popular with locals which was also encouraging. We returned for the most amazing breakfast 2 days running. The only down side was that we couldn't have more teas there due to fairly early closing times. We will definitely be back!!!

We were living in the village for 1 week and visited this cafe several times, during a very uncertain time for us all it was nice to see an establishment making the best of the situation and to their credit they do it very well. Nice and clean which obviously is a main concern as we start to eat out more. We were a family of 7 and enjoyed several different lunches, all were well presented, fresh and delicious. You must try the ice-cream too! All staff friendly and helpful, I would recommend booking as there are limited tables.

Just back from a meal here...i had fish & chips with salad & it was the best fish I've had in a long time...my other half had the chicken burger with chips & salad and said it was brilliant. The staff were great too, very polite & helpful...finished off with an ice cream. Highly recommend.

We stopped here, unplanned, and were sat at a reserved table under the arrangement that we didn't take too long. The staff met there part of the deal when they brought a hot, homemade pie, paying and 2 kids meals at the same time within 5 minutes! ALL of the food was delicious. My youngest said her macaroni and chips was one of the bedt meals she's ever had!Not a place for those on a budget but a family friendly place that does delicious food and great coffee.

Amazing coffee. Lovely to sit and hear the piper playing. Meals looked great especially the steak pie. A must visit. Service a bit slow.

Dad and I stopped for a quick bite and I was glad we did. The staff were really friendly and the food was terrific. And if you’re lucky, like we were, a piper will play on the green. With so few places open at the moment it would be easy for an eaterie to serve any old food. But these guys seem to care about quality and customers. I’ll be back!

Myself and my wife were on a trip checking out a venue down loch Ness when we decided to stop for lunch in Drumnadrochit so we parked in the main car park .As we walked across the road we came across the Ness Deli ,we were welcomed by a helpfull member of staff who showed us to our table .We were presented the menu also shown the specials soup of the day the menu also catered for vegeterian taste ,i had a venision berger which was first ciass and my wife had a vegeterian Lasagne which was to her liking .To sum up a very clean and pleasent venue with the utmost pleasent staff this is definetly will be a return visit

Stopped off for a few supplies and along with some great scotch pies and shortbread had the most wonderful apple cake. Cant wait to go back in April and have some more

Have never felt the need to review so negatively before. Walked in to grab some lunch with our 3yr old boy... stood looking for someone to welcome us and tell us to take a seat. Blatantly ignored by waitress so prompted her and asked if we should just take a seat. Response was that there were no tables available. When I then asked if the obviously empty table with the red sofas in the corner was available was told it was a 30 min wait. No clarification on whether this was for the table (there was no one else obviously waiting) or for food but the tone and attitude was enough for us to not want to spend another minute in there so we left and went to the lovely Cobbs restaurant at the Clansman Hotel - now they were the epitome of Scottish hospitality we had been hoping for... Ness Deli I’d go for a visit and see how you should treat customers.

It’s February and we thought we’d go Nessie hunting from Donside. Arrived at 11:30am and feeling rather hungry. The only place which seemed busy was Ness Deli. Very busy, which is good and full of locals which is even better. We ordered one and a child’s portion of lentil and vegetable soup and a chicken and rice. Well, the food was excellent and the bread tasted as though it was home made. Only one person was serving, as the others had phoned in sick, and you know this, she did an amazing job, no one was waiting! Finished off with sticky toffee pudding.... oh wow, this must be the best I have tasted. Full marks Ness Deli, Kemp the magic formula you have now.... it’s working well

Had a delicious, piping hot lentil and vegetable soup with bacon, brie and cranberry toastie - very very tasty and, as always, served with a smile. Perfect anecdote to a chilly February afternoon - especially with a red hot log burner next to us!

Excellent petit restaurant, très bonnes pâtisseries et service agréable. Jolie ambiance avec feu de cheminée.

Nous avions pour premier choix deux autres restaurants qui étaient fermés, mais pas déçus de Ness Deli. Cuisine gourmande maison et assiettes bien garnies avec des produits frais. Très bon rapport qualité / prix ! Si vous allez en direction du Castle ou Ineverness faites un stop.

We were very disappointed with the service. We stood and waited 10 mins for someone to comer over. Eventually someone came, only to be told it was a 20 min wait. We went across the road to the tearoom, which was very friendly and had delicious cakes, advise to go there instead.

My husband and I stopped here for lunch on our way back to the airport. Very welcoming staff and a thorough menu. I ordered the jacket potato with brie and cranberry sauce - it was delicious!! My husband really enjoyed his lunch too. Highly recommended!

Stopped here for a lunch on way back to Stirling. Was reasonably busy, even on a Tuesday in early December. Had a superb lunch - Good lasagne, lovely chilli and huge side portion of chips! Food was really good, with lovely fresh salad, and all served very promptly by friendly and hardworking staff. really enjoyed it, and was very reasonable cost indeed. Will definitely go again and highly recommend it.

We stayed in Drumnadrochit for a week, first morning we went to this cafe hoping to visit a few times but staff were so unpleasant we decided not to.A young girl who was civil, but not friendly, and an older English woman who only lost the frown when she took our money. My wife asked her a question only to be brushed off.Perhaps we just intruded on them at a bad time, stopped us spending more time there. Luckily other eateries are available.

Visited here twice on our week long holiday and it was always packed. But that's because it is worth the wait for the delicious home made, very filling yummy food....highly recommended 😊

Have visited this cafe many times, always good menu choice and excellent food . In the colder months a wood burning stove is welcoming and in summer outside tables available

Popped into the Ness Deli as it was the only place we could see that was open at 10.30am and so glad we did. The coffee is delicious and the bacon and egg roll...perfect. The eggs Benedict excellent. Lovely friendly staff. Spotlessly clean. Couldn’t fault anything.

Visited again today for lunch and between the 3 of us had the Chilli, Goat’s Cheese & Beetroot Salad and Ploughman’s, all delicious as usual and friendly, quick service. Cakes to take home were the extra bonus! Love this place and highly recommend 👍🏻🥰

arrived as a large group of ten just befor lunch and whilst they were understandably biusy the service was excellent. good food and drink. would highly recommend.

Good selection of breakfast items and whilst we enjoyed our visit, some of the items were not to our personal preferences, such as toasted rolls, but would ask for it to be un-toasted next time. Staff friendly and efficient. Plenty of outside seating for when the weather allows. Would have scored as “Good” if the option was available so put “Very Good” as it was better than “Average”.

A family of 2 adults and 2 kids (7+11) all had a lovely meal here. The adults had steak pie and the kids chicken goujons. We all cleaned our plates. The food was a treat and sitting outside in the Scottish sun in October was just as much a treat!! Would definitely recommend.

Loved our time here at Ness Deli. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The food was all delicious - mac and cheese especially was so cheesy and yummy. Can highly recommend if in the area!

We ate at the Ness Deli twice for lunch during our stay in a nearby cottage. The service was excellent and the food equally so. There's plenty of seating inside and outside, perfect if you have dogs with you. We couldn't fault it in any way and it's worth buying some of the cakes to take away with you for later on :-)

Whenever we are in Drumnadrochit we call into the Ness Deli. The service is always good and there is a wide selection of food and drinks. We had our usual coffees and cakes and as usual we weren’t disappointed.

Lunch here is very nice sitting inside or out— a few bothersome bees outside though! The handmade steak pie was delicious as was the lasagna! Just a mile or so for Urquhart castle. Friendly staff !

Stopped for a quick lunch after searching for Nessie on the loch. Food portions were generous and of good quality. Service was also excellent - the cafe was very busy but despite this the staff were very attentive and we felt well looked after.

Avant toute chose je tiens à préciser que j'ai super bien mangé à un prix somme toute assez correct. Cependant le service, une serveuse qui embarque mon verre de bière presque plein en passant que je l'avais fini car j'étais debout en train de payer mon repas... Devoir négocier pour avoir une bière que j'avais payé 10sec auparavant... Honteux ! Et je met médiocre car je l'ai eu quand même mais c'était limite...

The food whilst not being exceptional was very decent. Service was a little slow especially as the cafe was that busy when we popped in. We were "treated" to an hours worth of bagpipe music by a player who was outside on the village green whilst we had lunch, 15 mins would probably be enough. Perhaps the owners should ask him to have more rests in his playing schedule as it does drone on a bit.

We visited this place twice in one week on our holiday the food is so good. I especially recommend the chilli, one of the best I have ever had.

Had to listen to anti English tripe from a Indian /Scottish waiter with a local old boy ,funny the place was full of English people paying his wages .the young girl hadn't a clue what she served us had to tell her .only place we never tipped in our week away.your hard earned English pound would be more appropriated down the road.

Paesino stupendo con bar, negozietti e ristoranti purtroppo però il ristorante top del paese era tutto esaurito pertanto siamo finiti qui.

Sembrava tutto riscaldato a microonde, piatti e cibo bollenti, non c’è stato modo di assaporare il cibo. Ambiente normale, non tipico, non particolarmente curato, probabilmente un posto pensato solo per i turisti .nom ci tornerei anche se le alternative non sono molte . Peccato perché sia la posizione sia il posto , da grande margine di miglioramento, sia come prodotti alimentari sia come estetica del locale

We came in here for breakfast having just arrived in Scotland (family of four, all adults). We all had a filled roll or bagel with various fillings and we all commented on how good it was. Looking at the menu we wanted to return as there were so many delicious sounding lunch meals on there as well as drinks (we had our eyes on the hot chocolate). Unfortunately our plans didn't allow time for a return visit but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place and I would definitely return should I ever be in the area again.

This is a nice deli located next to the green. We enjoyed coffee and home-made cake in the sun. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Called in for an emergency coffee and cake stop on our way back home. The cakes are amazing, the coffee, tea and hot chocolate also excellent.

Visited the deli many times whilst we were staying locally at Bridgend house. The Scottish breakfasts are delicious, all ingredients clearly excellent quality. Our children especially enjoyed the homemade scotch pancakes with bacon, banana and maple syrup. They also have a huge selection of gorgeous cakes. This was our favourite of all the cafes on the village green and we highly recommend.

Wir schneiten gegen 18 Uhr bei diesem Lokal herein, weil wir uns für eine längere Autofahrt stärken wollten. Es war sehr gut besucht, wir nahmen deshalb draussen Platz, dennoch war das Personal schnell zur Stelle und wir mussten auch nicht lange auf das Essen warten. Wir hatten Lasagne und Makkaroni mit Käse. Die Portionen waren anständig und der Preis sehr fair. Da wir seit dem Frühstück nichts mehr gegessen hatten, war noch Platz für Nachtisch. Die Brownie Variationen sind sehr zu empfehlen. Bevor wir dann weiterfuhren, kauften wir noch Getränke und etwas zu knabbern ein. Alles zusammen konnten wir dann ganz unkompliziert mit der Karte bezahlen.

Toller Cafe und absolute Leckereien. Unverständlich aber, warum ein Kaffee um 16.00h unter der Woche in einer solchen Touristenregion im Juli schließt.

We ate here three times during a week-long visit. The food was good but opening hours info was inaccurate and we were disappointed not to be able to stop in for breakfast as we left as the menu said it opened at 7.30pm but it was closed. Great kids' menu and good for coffee, breakfast or lunch.

A wonderful selection of freshly made cakes, sandwiches and meals all made with finest ingredients and washed down with great tasting coffee. (Lots of local brews available too) Excellent service with a smile and all very reasonably priced.

Stopped here with my wife and two dogs for lunch on a hot day (17°C) after visiting Urquhart Castle, there was a decent amount of seating outside although it did get full as it was a very busy day, dog bowls outside and full of water for your pups.

Just nipped in on a rainy day for a coffee. Took my dog in with me to ask if he was ok to come in as there were no signs stating he wasn't. A man from the kitchens shouted out to me while I was waiting near the door to ask if the dog was ok "No dogs in here, get him out". I thought that was rude, no need.

I eat with my family after a cruise tour in the lake. All food is delicious and made fresh and there are different type of cakes! We have seating outside in the garden

Called here for much needed breakfast on our mammoth drive to the highlands, we were served promptly and our food arrived very quickly, great quality breakfast hot and tasty and a good portion! Would highly recommend!
