Nero in Chesterfield

We always go every week. And have done for some time. But the cake portions have become pitiful and for the money it’s quite disgusting the size of cake you get now. It’s frozen cake and it used to be a good size and nice for a treat. The staff aren’t always that friendly and if you ask for your drink extra hot. It’s hit or miss whether this happens So because of this I feel the need to review the cafe as we are now going elsewhere where and it’s a shame because we like it in there. The staff say the portion sizes of the cake are pre cut when it comes. (Frozen) but I’ve been going here for years and I know that they’ve made them smaller and the prices higher.

I have been meeting my friend here for 10 years now, most weeks. Being an old building, it can sometimes appear a little shabby inside (but part of the vibe/atmosphere imo). Staff struggle to stay on top of tables/clutter when people have gone, but that's purely because they're so busy and popular. The staff here are ALWAYS on the go. I had cause to complain early this year, and customer service were exceptional (Justine, from memory, who turned it around for me). Eleni stands out amongst the hardworking staff: always good humoured and welcoming, accommodating, despite being so exceptionally busy. It is incredible how they remember customers and their orders every time. Thank you also to Eleni for saving my sunglasses, left behind by accident on a recent visit!! I hope the higher management have recognised your efforts at this branch. (The quality coffee is just a lovely bonus 😁)

Cafe Nero is my preferred brand over the countrywide chains such as COSTA & Starbucks etc, it’s just a taste thing and their pain au raisins are in a different league. I use the one in Chesterfield regularly, I was in yesterday morning and yet again I was struck by just how dirty the place is. Sitting in a comfy leather chair in the first area by the counter I could see paper & leaves & food all over the floor under tables and display stands. This is not unusual for this outlet, there does not appear to be any regular cleaning regime or audit process in place and there really should be.

30/05/22 The lady with the blonde hair was so rude when asking what we wanted. It was our first time at the cafe and we asked for a salted caramel & pistachio iced drink. This lady looked at us as if we had 4 heads. We then repeat what we wanted and she said “So you want a Frape!?”). The dirty looks made us feel very uncomfortable. The customer service was horrendous! The tables were dirty, crumbs from previous customers… it was very quiet when we visited and they were just should chatting at the end of the bar…. Sadly we will not be returning…

Called in to Cafe Nero in Chesterfield a few days ago and I ordered an iced Cappuccino and it was not the drink I thought which was my own fault entirely. However, rather than me leave disappointed, a young lady called Milly replaced it without hesitation and minimum fuss and so I had what I wanted and left happy. Very good customer relations so we’ll done Cafe Nero and Milly.

Visited Chesterfield CAFE Nero‘s today One of my favourite chains until today sadly I sat in the quiet part of the CAFE Big mirror behind me going to enjoy my favourite cappuccino. When a fly decides to go in and take a swim! Me being curious look behind me to see another fly!!! Then to my horror on the wooden shelf behind the seat below the mirror was hundreds of dead flies don’t believe me?? have a look for yourself! ” now I would of complained but I didn’t want to as it was rather embarrassing and I’m not one to complain but when I got home I thought I would write this review as it’s made me feel really sick to the stomach!! The cleaner needs sacking or a good pair of glasses!!! I wish I took a picture but I didn’t want the customers thinking I was being a Fruitloop!!! So I’m sorry Caffè Nero‘s at Chesterfield but the place is utterly unhygienic I would complain to Caffè Nero‘s them self as a company but coincidentally I can’t find a phone number to actually call them directly oh well lol

This is the best coffee shop in Chesterfield! The staff couldn’t be more helpful….The quality of the coffee is excellent, the food is good but slightly over priced… There is always a happy feel to the place promoted by the excellent, hard working staff… I could not recommend the place more!

Coffee at this place is just average and what you would expect from a chain. Finding a place to sit within a comfortable distance from others is not easy. The coffee is served in paper cups at present. People joining the queue to be served are in close proximity to some of the seated customers. Worst of all, I noticed at least 3 people in the queue not wearing masks and all went unchallenged by staff. I shall not be returning here in a hurry.

Me and my husband went in for coffee first time and last . We sat at 1 table which hadn't been cleaned, i had to do it .but ended up moving .overall the counter area wasnt clean ,glass smeared and mucky .you could tell it hadn't been cleaned in months ,mirrors marked not clean .dust all over ,bin overflowing .swing bin was mucky didnt get wiped down the feel of the place looked grubby. I think a area manager should take a visit . Regards L Clarke

We went there today after a long stay at home cos of Covid19 .And I must say I am disgusted.. The time we were there, 4 table got empty and not one got cleaned before other people could sit there again.Just before we left a staff came and only cleaned 3 tables.. But she never wiped the chairs down or the surrounding only the top of the tables. I thought the staff have to give all tables and chairs a good clean up so new customers could sit there.. I did not feel safe there..

Perfect for a nice hot drink after visiting the Parish Church. Lovely welcome from the staff on duty.

Good coffee /food, pleasant staff ,we often go when in Chesterfield. Their porridge is very delicious.

It’s a typical Cafe Nero with the usual standard of drinks. Nice seats in the window if you’re not mown down in the rush...

typical Caffe Nero, just lower on stock! Service was fine, café is quite nice inside, seems like a good amount of seating. Toilets were clean, but a treck upstairs.

Have been visiting Nero's for a good few years now.Unfortunately and sadly this venue is not what it was, it has become tired and needs updating.The staff have over time changed, losing some good staff who were great with customers to get some who are not as well motivated nor now very well led.

The drinks are great and the staff friendly, but I no longer go as I don't want to sit in a cafe where dogs are sat in chairs and pulled up to the table to eat. Have seen this on three occasions now and find it unacceptable.

I was such a regular in this shop and used to look forward to my weekend coffee treat there (more often when I’m off work) but I agree with other comments this cafe’s gone downhill. It’s got way too busy, needs abit of a freshen up and I just want to go elsewhere now. I didn’t get seen in the queue on my last visit. The food isn’t the best. Bacon sandwiches very small and not much bacon on. The staff are already asking the next person in the queue what they want as they make your order. The loyalty card is very good but I’ll go elsewhere in town now. Maybe more staff needed.

So I've been here many times in the past for drinks and cake but on this occasion decided to call in for lunch as they are dog friendly and we had ours with us.Can't say there was anything wrong with it apart from the cheese and tomato toastie I chose had some weird spicy tomatoey garlic sludge spread through the middle of it that I was neither expecting nor did I enjoy. I expected cheese and tomato to be on a cheese and tomato toastie and didn't notice anything to the contrary on the packaging - (perhaps it was and I missed it but I just saw cheese and tomato). Wouldn't have one again and will stick to hot chocolates in there from now on.

It really has gone down hill over the last few months. Some of the older serving members of staff are fantastic, but some look far to busy to even smile, let alone hand out spoons! It used to be my favourite place to grab a coffee in Chesterfield, but not anymore. They have a disabled toilet and baby changing facilities but it’s not always clean in there. It used to be. The only thing that keeps me going there are the freebies you get in their app and through O2 priority!! Oh and they do vegan mince pies and oat or soya milk.

We called in for a coffee and its a nice coffee shop. Toilets are up stairs but there is a disabled toilet on ground floor. Plenty of seating and staff are friendly.

What a nice coffee shop this is fantastic coffee at a reasonable price staff were helpful and polite place was clean and tables cleared straight away definitely going to come to this coffee shop again

Thought I'd call in and compare the cafe to others in town.

Ottimo per una pausa caffè e per riposare un po' le gambe. Caffè inglese tipico con dolci americani. A pochi passi dalla piazza mercato.

Nothing changed from my earlier rant. There isn't enough staff to clear tables and place is now desperate for a refurb. I appeal to Caffe Nero to reinvest in this establishment before it's too late.

Personally, the coffee is a little strong for me so if you like it a little weaker ask for one shot in a regular sized cup! But the staff are so friendly, always happy to help and very pleasant. It can get very busy and noisy, but on a quiet day it’s quite a nice place to sit and enjoy a coffee and chat. They have a disabled toilet and baby changing facilities.

I visit Nero about three or four times a week. I’m not sure about the bad reviews as I have never had bad coffee or service from them. I find all the staff really friendly and the service quite speedy. I have also noticed the staff showing extra care and empathy when dealing with vulnerable individuals who would struggle elsewhere. I have been to many a coffee shop that has regarded people complex problems as a hindrance and have been a lot less accommodating. The young man who works there is fantastic and you can see how much he puts in doing that little bit extra for people that need it. All the lasses that work there are very friendly and always smiling and are consistently polite and well mannered.

Overpriced coffee, had to ask for some milk. Dry carrot cake. Toilets not been cleaned in quite a while! Avoid!

This has got to be the worst cafe Nero I've been to. It always takes forever to be served and you always have to wait ages as the staff are so slow. Twice now I've been stood in the queue and got sick of waiting.

On a chilly Monday morning I stopped by Nero for a porridge pick-me-up.

Very friendly staff, food and coffee is great, stylish interior. Service could be faster. Overall, 8/10.

With so many cafes in Chesterfield it can be difficult to decide where to go. However at 8:30 am many are closed. Had a light breakfast in Cafe Nero served by a waitress with great Halloween makeup. Amie was our Barister who was great. Offered good advice and coffee was made efficiently and tasted great.

I have visited numerous branches of Nero on my travels and this one gets a high score from me for staff friendliness. I was greeted with a smile and helpfulness. the coffee was good - but then Nero's coffee usually is. It is a large store with plenty of seats and is ideally located in the centre of town by the market place. The muffin I had was fresh and tasty. The place also scores well as it has good wi-fi.

It's just like any other chain of coffee shops- each one you go to, regardless of the town or city, is pretty much the same. The food and drinks are delicious, the staff are friendly and it is right in the town centre- great for meeting friends. The only thing is, it doesn't always seem to be all that clean- sticky walls and tables. Other than that it's a lovely coffee shop, great for spending half an hour. It has disabled access, toilets, air con, outside seating, wi-fi, baby changing and disabled toilet facilities

The staff are friendly, the place is always clean, it is child friendly and there is disabled access. One thing I don't like... how someone behind you can get served first depending on what your drink is... I was first! So finish serving me! It's isn't faster to ask the whole queue what they want before serving the person at the front.

Never had a bad coffee from these guys (unlike other shops of the same brand). The staff in the chesterfield branch are always friendly and helpful. Nice and clean, the high back seats are lovely and comfortable.

I often meet friends here for coffee, hot chocolate and cakes etc. Conveniently located in the middle of Chesterfield town centre, it is a great place to meet up or take a break during a shopping trip.

Tried Caffe Nero out for the first time today and was quite impressed, I have to say the coffee is not as nice as Costa but that is a personal preference, staff were all pleasant and helpful the coffee shop décor does need updating, it is ok now, but will start to look grubby if not addressed soon, will I go back .... Hell yes..........
