Nerd in Trafford

We were looking for place to have some small bites and found this cute place. Interesting ambience and staff friendly and warm. I usually don't like bubble tea, she was kind enough to give me options of various flavours available and I liked it. Google map took us to different location and we somehow found our way out.

The salad was delicious and the fried chicken was very tender and juicy（sorry，no photo）. It was a very enjoyable lunch restaurant.

Food terrible I ordered a ramen soup it was tasteless had no spice level which I chose . And 4-5 tiny pieces of char Sui ( pork ) the noodles were soggy. Second meal was also horrible undercooked rice with few pieces of chicken on top . Trust me don’t order from here ! I also wouldn’t go on the good reviews as it’s run by Chinese people . Most reviews are from these people most likely not real so misleading

When we went in, there weren't many customers. Waited a long time for the order, which were only drinks. Had to go check on the order but it hadn't even been started. Had to wait again for the drinks to be made.

I just went there for a quick lunch and the food there was amazing 5 stars

I came today just to buy bubble tea but the lady offered if I buy one large I would get one medium free. Such a lovely person she is. Place was amazing too mostly very affordable. Would love to come again.

Lovely staff and bubble tea. Unfortunately chicken breading is quite hard and chewy, and chicken was dry, would recommend different batter recipe. Rice and beef quality was not particularly good. But other dishes that we didn't try might be better.

Have to say, this "hiden gem" can offer a really good quality food and absolutely fantastic layout of the place, very central in Altrincham, two minutes walk from free parking facilities at Tesco Express. Big downstairs dining area with several tables and game boards when families come together. Very resenoably priced! Crispy Chicken is a must, absolutely srcampsious and Highly recommend!

Called here on recommendation from my friend for the Fried Chicken, so many spices and flavours to choose from, I choose Salt and Pepper with Cheese, this will definitely not be my only visit, I will be back to try other flavours and delights sold in this shop. The staff are super helpful and very friendly, if you haven't been here please make a visit you will not be disappointed

We came today to get some lunch, the place was relatively quiet and the staff seemed friendly. We ordered a mushroom salad bowl and a chicken meal, alongside some drinks. We waited around 15-20mins for the salad bowl, but the chicken hadn’t turned up. We were then informed they had mistaken the order and made the wrong food and had to start again - no biggie this is a simple mistake, it can happen - but when the chicken arrived around 20mins later, it arrived without the rice we had paid for, and without fries (we weren’t charged for these despite asking for them and understandably none were served). The chicken was fully plain, no seasoning, no rice, just chicken on a plate. For £10. The salad bowl looked pretty until you went a bit deeper and saw browning leaves, tasted burnt seeds and realised the avocado was bruised and mushy and browning. The cutlery was also marked and quite dirty. We tried to eat as much as we could to be polite but it was difficult… honestly it was a really disappointing meal, especially for the price. I understand that this is a small business and I don’t want to be cruel, it was just a really stressful experience and I don’t want others going in with the high hopes that we did based on the other reviews. No hate to the staff, everyone was smiley, I hope other experiences are better than ours. Other dishes may be better too :)

Absolutely AMAZING staff!!! So nice and friendly. Great service, we seriously didn't even wait 5 minutes for our order, and food is fresh, tasty and in massive portions, for very good price. Atmosphere is really nice, downstairs you can play some board games, so it's kids and family friendly. Can't recommend it enough!!!

Finally a place where you can get affordable, authentic Chinese food in Altrincham. Service was very friendly and good too. Also noticed that the owner was happy for non-customers to use their toilets, which is always a plus point.

Brilliant concept and lovely place but the menu is super pricey and has a very limited kids’ menu. Board game selection is smaller than I’d hoped.

Good spot in Altrincham to have a chill out from the shopping. Took my partner here and played some jenga - we are both students so it was free which was good. We ordered a chai latte and a coffee - both were nice! Would come again!

Absolutely love this cafe! Has the most amazing atmosphere whether ur visiting by yourself or with friends. The acai bowls are to die for and the coffee is on par too!! The staff are delightful and i loved their recommendations. Definitely my new favourite brunch spot.

I recently went into nerd for a different work environment and the atmosphere was perfect. The staff were friendly and kindly recommended the salmon sushi bowl. Definitely my new first choice for cafés in the area!

Hidden gem tucked away by the station in Altrincham. Staff were so lovely and very helpful. They recommended the nutella cookies and cream hot chocolate which was delicious and I also enjoyed a pesto parmesan bowl. Didn’t try the board games on this visit but I will definitely be back with friends. Would definitely recommend 👍

Brought the kids along to play some board games and have a spot of lunch. Staff were super friendly, lunch was spot on and kids loved the choice of games. Will definitely be back.

Came in on a Sunday and the service was exceptional! I had an iced Chai Latte and it was one of the best i have ever had. The staff were extremely friendly and i wish i could have tipped them more. Am definitely going to be visiting again very soon. Keep up the good work! 💓

Sooooo slow.... the staff don't seem to have a clue... they start one bowl.... then move on to the next without finishing.... it took me 45 mins to get a bowl of salad.... and all I can here is them complaining.

Nice place, nice staff and a decent selection of food. My biggest gripe is the price, which is expensive. I paid £7.30 for a slice of cake and a coffee which didn’t feel like good value even at Altrincham prices. 👎

Been few times now to play games with little.ones, great selection, everyone super friendly, a group of us used down stairs to practice baby signing we had instruments and was no hassle, the avocado on toast super tasty too 😋

Ordered from here a few times. Food usually ok, however often I order sourdough bread and it does not arrive. Ordered two caramel frappes, one did not arrive and the other was curdled and undrinkable.

Fabulous place to meet downstairs for a group work chat. Emma, the owner, was lovely and made us all really welcome. The coffee was excellent and the cakes delicious - what more could you want! Would highly recommend it and we'll definitely be back!

Really enjoyed my time there with my 5 year old. Loads of age appropriate games and a lovely kids menu. Servers were attentive and kind. Got some good ideas for games which I wouldn’t have otherwise found!!

Brought the kids in to entertain them for a bit with the games. Kids had some smoothies which they loved, and I had an excellent coffee and too much cake! Was very busy but staff were really friendly and managed to keep on top of the many orders flying at them. Most importantly, my kids were engrossed in their gaming, and not talking into my ears incessantly, or arguing, so I got an hour's peace! Excellent little place with a nice vibe.

We attended the Silent Disco, which was fantastic, lots of extra's cookies and face painting, a really friendly atmosphere, and the children asked to go back to play the games, we'll definitely return

The most beautiful portobello mushroom salad and I was able to add a couple of extras too! Wonderful customer service and a very relaxing sofa to sit and watch the world go by with a latte too. Was quiet, so not a lot of atmosphere, but sure, if it was busy, it would be good. Coffee was really nice , not normally a coffee lover but it was very nice. Service excellent.

Nerd has become part of our family's weekly routine. We're so glad to have it on our doorstep! The owners and staff are really friendly and helpful, the selection of games is amazing and we're slowly trying to work our way through them all!

Great place, for kids and adults gaming. I also go here as a co-working space, as it's quiet downstairs in the day, they have good power points (including USB charging). Coffee is good and their salads great. Staff friendly and approachable - one spent 5-10 mins explaining a game to my three year old and she was delighted

I decided to try a new cafe and found nerds. The food was amazing I recommend the salmon and avocado salad, the coffees where great and the customer service was perfect. Definitely my new favourite place. They are animal friendly and offer student discount. They have vegetarian and vegan options available also

I attended the board gaming event at Nerd yesterday and had a fab time. Great company, great food and lovely atmosphere. It was so lovely to meet new people and to get out of my comfort zone for a while, without feeling self-conscious. I highly recommend Nerd to anyone who has even a passing interest in giving board gaming a go. You'll be met by genuinely passionate people, friendliness and a lot of memorable fun. I went to the games night on 30/12/22. Our 2 game hosts were great company. We had an excellent teacher host of games. The games were well chosen and great fun. The good was very nice. The atmosphere was lovely. Highly recommended

The owners of Nerd are lovely and welcoming people and the staff are always helpful - nothing seems to be too much trouble for this lot! Food is fresh and tasty, the selection of soft drinks is unusual and appetising (Soda Folk - I approve!), the smoothies are packed with flavour and the cakes are to die for. Gaming selection is varied with stuff to play for all abilities. There's low-weight party games sat next to casual games sharing shelf space with classics and modern must-haves. Their kids game shelf upstairs has an amazing selection of stuff for younger gamers or family groups, too. We'll be sure to visit Nerd more often - they have a few games we don't have in our own collection and a couple of set-pieces that we'll enjoy getting use out of but have no space at home to own (the new Heroquest and Klask being two that come to mind. Seriously, try Klask - it's hilarious fun). Nerd have organised game nights and organised Role playing dates. If you're looking for a place to get fed and play games, Nerd could be the place for you.

Had a great time at Nerd Cafe’s inaugural Ultimate Game Night! We went as a group of two families - 4 in each with children ranging from 13 to 17. The staff were really friendly and welcoming and knocked up a last minute alternative meal with a smile. Our host, Luc, was brilliant at introducing us to a range of different games and it was a great way to find out what we liked and what we weren’t sure about. We will definitely go again!

I ordered a butternut squash soup which sounded delicious and was then disappointed to seeing the girls in the cafe open up a tesco tin soup to heat up for my meal, this was really dissapointing, I tried the soup and it was bland and had to send it back, unfortunately, didn't get offered a refund. The advertisement of the food makes everything sound made from scratch and healthy/fresh so it was very sad to receive a tin of tesco soup heated up, and felt unhappy that I paid over £6 for tinned soup from tesco. It also came with stale sourdough bread, and I had to eat this whilst my friend had ana amazing portobello Buddha bowl which looked fresh and healthy so this was very sad experience as I love my food:(

A great place to spend quality time with my children well away from screens! Nerd has a huge variety of board games and staff were on hand to help us choose and get to grips with the rules. The food is healthy and tasty with a good range of options. We will definitely be back!

What an absolute gem of a place! Beautiful, fresh healthy food, amazing cakes, great coffee and over 200 board games! We went with our 12 year old and spent ages playing games whilst eating lunch and drinking coffee. The owners were fab and showed us how to play some of the games - introduced us to new games too! Brilliant! Will definitely be back and would 100% recommend for families and grown ups alike!

This a fantastic place - great food and drinks (we had lovely coffees, hot chocolate, cakes and pastries) and a brilliant selection of excellent quality games to play. The cafe is modern with lots of plants and exposed brickwork. The lunch menu looked very inviting - we will definitely be returning when we are next in the area.

A friend and I went to Nerd for the Friday board game mixer. Jamie was very welcoming as soon as my friend and I entered the café,. I had some concerns as to how easy it would be to join other attendees to play some games. I needn’t have worried. Luke was on hand to act as a facilitator putting together a group of us and taking us through the rules of the games so we could continue playing by ourselves. His suggestions as to which games to play given our numbers and time available were spot on. We had a great time and I will definitely go back. Next time I will forgo eating my tea at home and eat at Nerd.

The best latte I have ever had (and I’ve had a few!). Lovely friendly venue that have superb warm welcoming staff, great games and are really working with the local community. Park in Tesco’s and go and unwind in a really special place.

First time visiting Cafe Nerd and it certainly won't be our last. We actually spent the day working here (highly recommended co working space in Alty centre) service was fab and the salad bowls were delicious and a great sized portion.

Came here with my friend who lives locally and had a great time playing boardgames downstairs. The coffee and cakes were great and the owners and staff were really friendly!

Really enjoyed a coffee, dairy free babycino and some board games with my 6 year old. Lovely management who not only made a great mocha but helped us set up a more elaborate game and was incredibly friendly and welcoming.
