Ok, it was 2pm. on Swarland show day but despite there being 10+ folk in front of me within 20 minutes I was served and on the way out. Still a great selection of soft white poppy seed buns well filled, and lots of cake on offer. An efficient team were working cheerfully at a spanking pace. Outside there's an excellent play area.

We visited for breakfast before heading to Glasgow. We had delicious hot choc, latte, oat milk latte and iced latte then a vegan breakfast, breakfast pancakes with maple syrup and bacon, Saus and egg buttie and bacon and egg buttie. So keen to enjoy we forgot to take photos but all the food was amazing!!! It was all presented beautifully, piping hot and delicious! Lovely staff and I would highly recommend - see you soon!!

We booked a table for lunch to break our journey to Scotland primarily as we had been before and the Grandchildren loved the zip wire in the playground. We arrived at the prebooked time and found our table had been reserved. I went to the counter and ordered 2 kids sandwiches and 2 adults sandwiches and 4 drinks- juice for the kids and coffee for us. It was £55 which I thought was very expensive but I hadn't really taken much notice of the prices on the menu. The lady taking the order did say there would be a wait for the food as the kitchen was very busy. I didn't realise however that our wait would be an hour!! When the food finally arrived the kids portions were huge and it turns out they were adult meals and I had paid for adult meals. I had definitely ordered kids meals and the lady on the till came over and kindly refunded £14. The sandwiches were lovely, fresh and tasty but there was a lot of wastage due to the huge portions. It's a shame they don't organise the kitchen better to cope with demand on busy weekends. There is also only 1 unisex toilet and we waited 20mins in a queue after our lunch to use it. They really need to assess their facilities and how to improve to meet the customer demand which is after all down to their own success. Unfortunately the zip wire was no longer in operation so the kids left quite disappointed after waiting patiently for ages for their lunch.

Lovely staff and nice place but I was disappointed with my food, and we waited ages. Avocado on sourdough was unfortunately served with the smallest piece of dry bread, and at £8.95 I expected more. I did want to add poached eggs and bacon but this would have been an extra £4. Kids pancakes were so dry and served with 2 strawberries. Again, expected more for the price. More than happy to pay more for great food, but sadly this wasn’t worth it.

Really, really great food, far better than the 'place I will not name', (but it started in Felton years ago, and is now in Felton, Longframlington, Longhoughton and Shilbottle). There are a few outside tables at Nelson's, overlooking the bowling green, and when the weather is good, which is far more often than people think, it's a lovely place to relax with good food and drinks! The scones are amazingly good, both fruit or cheese, and the sandwiches and toasties are well filled and wonderful value. Treat yourself to the Bacon and Brie with a side of Cranberry sauce, it's really, really good! Our first visit to Nelson's was in 2015, it was a very small concern, and we just had drinks and cake. I am delighted to say that the team have gone from strength to strength, and it's now a wonderful venue for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea! It's child friendly too, and the children's play area of the park is right outside! It's worth booking a table though, as they can get very busy, and I'm not surprised!

We regularly use Nelson's with 3 of the service users we support in the nearby village of Longframlington. We always get a warm welcome from all of the staff, some of whom know the lads we support by their first names. We have 2 service users in wheelchairs and never have any difficulties accessing the building or finding a suitable place to sit. Staff are always on hand to help with opening the doors and ensuring we are seated appropriately. The food is always delicious and there is a wide range of cakes, scones available. All of our service users enjoy their trips out to this little gem of a place x

We ordered soup and were each given half a bowl of something more of the consistency of mashed potato than of soup plus two chunks of, admittedly, tasty bread. I couldn't finish mine!We were sat in the middle of the cafe close to the door and the serving counter. Visitors regularly walked past us, all probably within a metre. I finally said something when two people, on their way to the door, stopped and had a conversation just by my shoulder! In the current situation the table in question should be removed! Finally we were handed menus to make our choice and the same menus were apparently handed to other people before and after us, a good way to spread disease. Most restaurants are using a menu board on the wall.

It was our first visit after finding Nelsons following a google search of places to eat in the area. Lovely food and selection of drinks. However, we were not asked if we wanted our sandwiches on white or brown bread so all came on brown and it was only after seeing another tables order we saw that white was available, not indicated on menu. The young staff are not friendly and looked like they didn’t want to be there. Social distancing also an issue as all tables are used and people were constantly brushing past us to go back and forth to park outside. It would be also be better if staff serving tables wore masks and didn’t pass drinks by holding round rim where you put your mouth.

I went for brunch with a couple of friends and their children. My friend’s food took much longer to arrive than the rest of ours, so one of the children became upset. She cried for short while, then the owner came over and asked her to leave. The owner was quite rude and offered no support or understanding. I would expect a family friendly cafe located at a play park to have more compassion for mothers and young children. We won’t be returning.

Having visited with friends and their children I will not be returning. One of the children became upset after waiting for their food to arrive, after a very short period my friend was asked to leave with her child as she was annoying other customers. As this is a cafe with a park attached, I was shocked at this response. The complete lack of empathy and shaming that this incident showed was something I thought we had moved on from. I won't be returning or recommending to others.

Went here for lunch at 1.30pm on a Wed with friends. One cannot have gluten and the staff went out of their way to check ingredients and find something that was suitable for her to eat. In the end we all had jacket potatoes. The Coronation chicken filling was delicious. The gluten-free guest had plain chicken and said it was very good too. We had coffee and delicious cake after and talked (a lot!!) Finally got up to pay at 4pm not realising how late it had got. Never thought a little village would have such a nice cafe. First time visit to a friend who lives here. What a stunning venue, more suited to a city with a fantastic menu & food to suit. I seriously considered stealing the entire carrot cake after sampling a slice which was huge. My daughter couldn’t eat hers after demolishing an enormous oreo milkshake which was sickly but bloody tasty. The wife opted for a bacon, brie & cranberry panini again which was excellent. Seems like this venue is the heart of Swarland & is a non profit business helping youngsters with work. We will definitely be back again through the summer & would consider moving here in the future. All the food I saw around me was as well presented as ours and the day we were there it was certainly popular. Love the fact theres a kids play area and actually really loved the view out to sea on a sunny day. When we arrived I eyed up the cakes and they looked amazing but I withheld until we went up to the counter and I need up buying 3 slices to take home. Heard about this place from a neighbour so decided to give it a try and am SO glad I did.... though I was a little tempted to say it was rubbish just to stop everyone else finding out about it! The food was excellent and my burger was probably the tastiest I've ever had (and I have had a lot!), the service was impeccable and the cakes delicious. The kids menu was also fantastic, and their picnic lunch was really well presented. There's a playground on the doorstep and seating outside and a nice selection of hot and cold drinks... including beer, wine and prosecco.

A nice little breakfast treat from my wife . We arrived to be met by very helpful and friendly staff . We had a pot of tea for two whilst we decided on what breakfast to have . I plumped for the half nelson which consisted of a quality sausage bacon mushrooms egg black pudding half a tomatato ,, with a side of toast ,,, worth every penny . My wife had croissant which she totally enjoyed .we took some scones home for our tea which were delicious . The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed and the premises was spotlessly clean . I would recommend to any one to give this place a try . ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

Pleasant eating place which offers lovely home cooked food. Cakes are delicious. Situated in the park and on warm days it's nice to sit outside.

Booked a table of 6 for the minute they opened on Mother's Day and pleased to see they were open and ready for orders straight away. We were under time pressure, but a varied selection of breakfasts all arrived promptly and we had time to enjoy it. Good value full breakfast (with excellent black pudding) and they are happy to do different selections if you ask. Staff are cheerful and helpful.

Nelsons is a great family friendly café in Swarland. Debra and her team offer first class service with a smile. The offerings are always fresh and there's enough variety to please even the most fussy customers.

This little cafe is worth searching out. Lovely friendly efficient staff, good decor, excellent choice of home cooked foods to suit all hunger levels. Our first cross border foray to Swarland but we will be back!

Warkworth has a small nucleus of great places to eat, and we'd never tried Bertrams, so we went. It was a no brainer given the quality of other reviews. The only downside was that we had to get in and out early so were nearly the first people in hence little "atmosphere" but that was our agenda not the restaurant, and we were there for the food... ... which was first class. Superb hake served with a beautiful herby crab pate and dauphinoise potatoes. The flavours were immense and everything was cooked to perfection. You notice the difference with real quality and top chef standards and this delivered for me. The lemon meringue dessert was the proverbial icing on the metaphorical cake. Superb.

My cousin and I were hugely impressed by Castaways. I had been reluctant to go because about 20 years ago the original café had been taken over by a useless couple. But when I passed and looked in, I could see that its original atmosphere had been recreated by the current management. Our reception was very friendly. The café was full (always a good sign) and we were third in the queue. Our table was soon ready and we were seatedby a waitress. We were very comfortable and the atmosphere was nice. Many pleasant people there as customers happily dining and chatting. Good choice of food and drink. I had the traditional breakfast and my cousin had… I think it was avocado and egg on sourdough bread. We were both very content with our lunch. I will certainly return and bring members of my family to enjoy castaways. Nicely sited, easy car parking and great views over Seaton Sluice and the sea. Get yourself along there and have a treat!
