A Southsea gem! Consistently the best brisket burger/mac/fries in the area. The food is always good if ordered on delivery and even better if ordered in. They have a great selection of beers including some fun sours and it’s always got a great buzzing atmosphere. They’ve got so many options for vegans/veggies as well that it makes it a great location to take groups with different dietary needs. Could not recommend more!

Pete and Need Street Kitchen absolutely blew us away! We’ve never experienced such outstanding service and exceptional food at a wedding—or any event, for that matter. From the moment we first connected with Pete, we knew we were in for something special. He took the time to understand our vision and delivered a culinary experience that exceeded all expectations. The food was nothing short of spectacular. Every guest raved about how it was hands down the best wedding food they’d ever had, with many saying it was the highlight of the evening. The flavors, presentation, and creativity were on another level. Pete truly has a gift for making food that not only tastes amazing but also resonates with the crowd. But what really sets Pete apart is his commitment to going above and beyond. Despite it not being part of their job, he and his team took it upon themselves to clear tables, making sure everything was spotless and stress-free for us. And when our ice cream vendor couldn’t make it at the last minute, Pete saved the day by personally getting ice cream for all our guests. This act of kindness speaks volumes about his dedication and professionalism. Pete was a joy to work with—always smiling, approachable, and genuinely invested in making our day perfect. The food tasting before the wedding was just a glimpse of the amazing experience we would have, and we were blown away on the actual day. Need Street Kitchen is in a league of its own, and Pete is an absolute superstar. We would eat here again and again, and we can't recommend them highly enough to anyone looking for world-class wedding catering!

Stumbled upon this little gem, lovely staff, only ordered chips but they were to die for and the atmosphere was great, it was busy but myself and my friend could still hold a normal level of conversation. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

This place is the absolute best! My #1 place to get food in Portsmouth both on delivery and in the merchant house. The menu and food is sensational and the staff are lovely. I highly reccomend it’s a must try! And I have tried most places in the area!

Easily the best burgers locally, maybe even the whole of the South East. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for and every single bite is worth it. Only had a delivery but I will be visiting the Merchant House for a proper meal.

Just received a delivery order through uber ...the tex mex chips had no sauce on them whatsoever , the cheesy taters had no sauce on them either, our double classic burger was a single one and requested no bbg sauce but extra mayonnaise on our tbird he did come with no bbq sauce but no mayonnaise super dry until we added our own sauce ....first time i ordered cost me £40 ..i shall not order again

Absolutely shocking. The burgers are kids side and the chips ..we'll...we had about 11 chips per portion!!!

Two adults - Sunday lunchtime. Choice of beers. My veggie burger was fine and so was my son's brisket burger. Fries all good. This is a good stopping point for a simple, fast bite at a reasonable price.

Used to be really good it's gone down hill a lot recently. Burger buns are now a lot rougher and stale than they used to be. Burgers feel thrown together. Fries shouldn't even advertise rosemary anymore as the last lot didn't even have any.

Absolutely love their food. Great quality & flavour. I follow them to every food festival for their famous brisket burger!! Thought I’d be disappointed when they served the burgers as a wrap at Victorious Festival… was pleasantly surprised ☺️

Great food and quick delivery! I would have loved if the hot chicken sandwich/burger had more hot sauce, but that might just be my preference! Would 100% order again.

Really average. We've ordered twice recently. First order was incorrect, tried to blame the delivery service when the ticket was clearly on the wrong bag. No resolve. Ordered again and tried something new, really underwhelming and a bit style over substance. Such a shame as these guys used to smash it. Hopefully a blip...

Used to be great food, however the homemade chips have since been replaced with average fries. There is also an absolute overload of chives, not just a sprinkle which is too much with the cheese sauce. On my most recent order I asked for no chives, however this request was not adhered to.

So tonight I ordered from need street food what can I say well quite a lot I’m absolutely disgusted in what was delivers to my door never in my life have i seen food presented in this way I will add a photo of the food at the end of this review also my son got a cut while trying to undo the paper bag what type of food company staple a bag together I’m so devestated it all went in the bin is we end up I’ll over the next couple of days I will be ringing hygiene standards and making a massive complaint can’t find a phone number for this restaurant to make a complaint not only dirty burnt greasy food but also verry expensive

Table service . Busy but very good social distancing. Very clean had to give full name and email address . Had shandy and loaded fries with four cheese and bacon with chives absolutely delicious. Highly recommended

What I got it's nothing to the pictures on the seller website and what I expected. Huge disappointment for whole my family, as we choose our food by looking on the pictures. I was waiting to get those huge beautiful and great hamburgers from pictures on the internet. Finaly I got what you can see on my photos. I'm really sorry. I try to upload photos, but for some reason I can't see them. Maybe they pop up later on.

Our food was amazing! Orderd from other places and been greasy ect but our burgers were perfect and the pork belly chips were amazing pork was so soft and tender!! Food arrived before delivery time and was hot, Will definatlly be ordering again!

We have tried the roast dinners and the burgers and loaded fries and have throughly enjoyed all the very tasty meals. If you have never tried Need Street Food at The Merchant House would put it on your list. Wonderful range of craft beers, cask and keg tops of a great experience.

What a discovery, I was surprised to see just 14 reviews on Google. The place is superb, amazing and very friendly staff plus very good food. Let’s not forget the wide range of beers,ale,lagers and so on. Definitely a MUST. I’ll be there next week with more friends. Thank you

I speak on behalf of my company Aerial Direct in Segensworth. We invited the Need Street Food guys to bring their pop-up to our offices for our monthly 'Feed the Staff Friday'. This is our way of saying a big thanks to the team for their hard work. The food was incredible - a massive hit with everyone! There were options to cater for all dietary requirements and they were decent sized portions. The guys were friendly and knowledgeable about the food and the profits made go towards a great cause. The set up and service went like clockwork. I highly recommend Need Street Food for future corporate events!

This is the fourth time I've been here now and I've tried a lot of the items on the menu, and every time it's absolutely amazing! The staff are friendly and attentive and helped recommend the best beer for the food. The Philly Cheese Steak fries are covered in the tastiest steak and the burger is also one of the most juicy and succulent burgers I've ever had. The Tex-Mex fries are also amazing and they're the perfect amount of spiciness. I highly recommend Need Street Food and the beer at The Merchant House to anyone who wants the best kind of greasy burger around. But keep in mind the huge portion sizes of the fries - you might need to share them unlees you're completely starved (but they're so delicious you might finish them anyway like my boyfriend did). Overall, just great price and great food.

Food is amazing every time! I adore their vegan seitan burgers and Kentucky cauliflower! Everything is just fab, 100% recommend!

BOOM, after seeing this food all over my social media I had to get down there, and boy did it deliver. The chicken burger was juicy, crispy and hot (buffalo sauce) and packed with slaw and pickles. It was messy, but in an excellent way. You literally have to dive in and forget yourself for a moment to enjoy it to the fullest; large bites getting all that flavour. Alongside I had the burnt end fries; a beefy, slawy mix with BBQ sauce on top of fries. Again very tasty and a HUGE portion. Unless you're very hungry, I'd suggest sharing these fries with your burgers/dogs as your main. They would also suffice as a main dish. The chef was attentive and took pleasure in hearing our feedback on our food, that was a nice touch. All eaten in the lovely surroundings of the Merchant House; well decorated and airy space especially in the summer months when the large doors are all open. Wash your food down with a fantastic selection of beers. (One note: at the time of review the address is incorrect, so if you're trying to find it, please head to The Merchant House).

Love, Love, LOVE. The food here is so incredible. The merchant burger was out of this world as well as the Hanoi hangover fries. I haven’t had food this good in a long time!! Can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu soon� Highly recommend!!

Wonderful food... Just wonderful everything really!!! I could honestly go on but the place speaks for itself! Oh and them Hanoi Hangover Fries are the businessssss!
