I had previously been here after a long walk on the canal and the ham sandwich was lovely service was good the only thing my freind and I were concerned about was the lack of salt you had to ask for that and mayonise, no salad cream either. However on this occasion the ham sandwich was disgusting there was no ham to say the least it was like mashed up tuna no sliced ham like the first visit. So I stated that the sandwich was different and felt there was a lack of ham in the sandwich the young girl just said well that’s it but if you want I can get you some where making me somewhat greedy when this wasn’t the case at all just lack of ham in general, I then took a teaspoon and managed to scrape the ham of the sandwich and this just filed the teaspoon which was half of the sandwich. Will not be returning after this bad experience there was no way that was a portion of filling for a ham sandwich If management want I’m happy to discuss the reviews photo will be added

This is more of a review of all National Trust cafes/tea-rooms, not specifically just this one. It is perfectly nice food, but ridiculously expensive for what you get. I remember when NT properties used to do different options, now it is the same food at every location and it is just nice, no more and it gets a bit boring! What I really do object to is the additions that are amazingly over-priced. Like getting a side salad with your sausage roll that consists of a cherry tomato cut in half, 2 slices of cucumber and about 5 salad leaves (I would expect a toddler to get more than that). Then a dollop of coleslaw (about a heaped tablespoon's worth), yet more cost. Do I need to go on? I'm guessing it is mandated by head office what to offer and charge, but visiting a NT property is all the worse for the current food experience in my opinion.

Yes this cafe is understandably busy, but a found a small table close to the stairs. Not a massive range of food but adequate for lunch, the scones looked good!! I opted for a jacket potato with tuna and cheese and a coffee. The tuna was especially tasty either seasoned wuth lemon zest or juice, very tasty!! Coleslaw was very good too. I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch.

I fully support the aims and values of the National Trust so would regard this rather disappointing venue as OK, in the sense that at least my money has gone to a worthy cause. If it wasn't a National Trust site it would only be getting one star because the so called home baking looked and tasted like it had come straight from a factory somewhere and the only choice of coffee was a very weak filter coffee - I didn't realise anyone still used filter coffee makers! - perhaps it's just the NT approach to the UK heritage that they feel the need to remind us all that we once all had to drink filter coffee and think it was quality - in the pre Costa/ Starbucks/ Pret era that some of us are old enough to remember. The tearoom itself is a pleasant enough place to while away half an hour but the menu seemed very limited and basic. If, as I do, you support the NT, then by all means spend your pennies here but, if you are looking for good value and better quality food then you will need to look elsewhere

Nowhere to sit, overpriced refreshments. Long queues and not in a good location - surely it would be easier to move it downstairs as it's not a disabled friendly venue

We sat upstairs, which is a really pleasant space, and had a cheese and ham panini each plus shared a cheese scone then some flapjack and brownie. Afterwards I asked for a macchiato which the staff hadn't heard of but when I described it they happily made me one and it was a great macchiato. I was really impressed that they didn't just say no but offered to make me one. Definitely visit if you're at the hall.

I appreciate this is going to be a very individualistic response to what is probably a usually well run eatery but needless to say, this NT owned tea rooms need to up their awareness. My daughter has a pretty strong egg allergy. Upon visiting East Riddlesden eatery, she ordered what was listed as a (V) CHEESE & SPRING ONION panini. All well and good until we realised that the inside of the toasted ciabatta had been generously smeared with mayonnaise to form a spread (no mention of this on the chalk board not the printed menu). Five minutes after digestion, her classic tell tale symptoms manifested...streaming eyes, severe nausea, blocked nose/allergic rhinitis. 30 minutes later and the entire contents of her stomach ended up behind a bush in the gardens! She had tried vomiting in the toilets but was embarrassed and there was only so many times I could assist by operating the hand dryer. We did note that the kitchen staff in service seemed exceptionally young and there did not seem anyone older supervising the food preparation. Perhaps someone more mature and worldly may have thought to check there were no allergies to mayo before coating a vegige sandwich?

No need to be a national Trust member to go to the cafe at East Riddlesden Hall. I had a coffee and warm, just out of the oven cheese scone. Gorgeous. No need to go to some scruffy cafe in Keighley when you can go to this little gem.

Keighley is where I was born and bred, but I havent visited the Hall since my youth, despite driving past many many times. After a trip round the Hall and Gardens, we popped in for a quick lunch. My egg/mayo sandwich was made with fresh chunky bread and well filled. My wife opted for Tomato and Spinach soup, thick and tasty and served with a doorstep of a piece of bread, though the appearance of the soup might have put you off ! Reasonable pricing

National Trust cafes and restaurents can usually be relied on to serve good quality food. This one is quite small so only serves a limited range, e.g. soups and quiches, plus nice cakes. Great for a snack lunch or afternoon tea.

We popped in for a light bite after having looked around the house and grounds. The cafe was busy and the surroundings were interesting. The cafe is located in amongst the old beams of one of buildings and it felt like a comfortable place to eat.The menu was the atypical National Trust offerings, sandwiches, jackets and cakes, etc.The staff were friendly and well trained. Again, another common trait of a National Trust place. The staff understood gluten free from a coeliac's perspective and we felt confident in ordering. It appeared to us that some people were just visiting the cafe to eat rather than to visit the house and grounds. That in itself tells you that people like the place and make return visits. Something we plan to do if we are in the area again

This was a very large, nicely furnished and very clean recently re-furbished tearoom. There is an downstairs for those who are disabled and cannot climb the stairs to the first floor. We went upstairs and was met by a personable and friendly young man who showed us to a table. The menu seemed quite extensive. Between Midday and 2.30pm they serve lunches such as Jacket Potatoes, Salads etc. For the rest of the time there is always hot and cold drinks, snacks and delicious looking cakes. The prices were also reasonable.

We stopped for lunch while visiting East Riddlesdon House, and glad we did. There was a good choice of food - sandwiches, toasties, soups, jacket potatoes, cakes etc and a specials board. I appreciated having a few vegetarian options on the menu. The service was quick and friendly and our toasties were fresh and tasty, with a good side salad. As a first time visitor to the area I appreciated the range of Harrogate teas! On a rainy day the atmosphere in the cafe was warm and cosy which was just what we needed after a damp walk around the gardens!

As we were at the Hall we decided to visit the tearoom for lunch. The menu is fairly basic but had a good variety of options, from sandwiches to jacket potatoes to options from the daily specials board. There is also a good variety of soft drinks and bottled beers (which are also for sale in the shop). You wait to be seated in this tearoom and the staff are both welcoming and efficient. This excellent service continued throughout our visit. The tearoom itself is upstairs in a old building (this might be an issue for those with mobility problems) with lovely beams and stone walls. It really is a stunning room. We opted for the three cheese and chive jacket potato with salad garnish. This was surprising good, consisting of three excellent quality cheeses - applewood smoked, Red Leicester and Wensleydale with cranberries. The salad was freshly prepared, a bit of dressing would really have bought this to life though. The tearoom serves a wide variety of cakes of the day (including low gluten options), all of which looked delicious. You don't need to be touring the house or garden to eat here, as you enter via the gift shop if you let the staff know that you just wished to visit the tearoom then they will let you go up.Not the cheapest place to eat (£17 for two cheese jacket potatoes, one soft drink and a bottle of beer) but we felt for the quality it was worth it.

We stayed at the hotel for the night so we thought it was easier to eat in the restaurant before we went out as we had an event on at Dalby Forest. When we checked into the hotel we were asked to let them know if we would be having dinner in the restaurant, we said we would be but wasn't sure what time, that was all fine but they said it might be busy. We went down to the restaurant around 6pm and it was dead. There were quite a few in the sports bar but the restaurant itself was empty. There were 2 waiting staff on who both spent most of the time looking at their phones. The menu online was entirely different to what was given to us in the restaurant. The online menu made the food sound a la carte but it was pretty basic, usual pub grub menu- steak, burgers etc. I ordered a medium rare steak and my partner had a burger. My steak was OK and it was probably medium rare but it was quite tough and bland and nothing to be excited about. I cannot remember the exact amount of the total bill but we did think at the time that it was a bit over priced for what it was. Wouldn't recommend unless that's your only option to eat out. Not impressed.

This place seems to divide opinion judging by the reviews but we thought it hit the spot nicely. Yes, the owner does invite you in if he spots you looking at the menu but we felt able to walk away, check a couple of other places and come back with no pressure. Sat out the back where there is lots of Bronte and Railway Children memorabilia on the walls. Even on a dreary day there were decent views over the valley towards Crossroads. In the summer the terrace would probably be lovely. We had homemade lentil and vegetable soup each, two sandwiches served with salad, pot of tea, bottle of water and a toasted tea cake for £25. For Haworth that’s not bad. Food was served quickly and was good, solid, no frills stuff - ideal for a grey autumn day.
