Sehr schade!

What a lovely village general store! Aside from the large stock of everything that one might need for village life, there was also a small cafe which served possibly the finest bacon baguette I've ever had (very good quality bacon and lots of it). Somewhat surreal to be in this quintessentially English shop on the morning of Charles III coronation.

Have lived in the area for over 6yrs, heard of a farm that had water buffalo. I had read that buffalo meat was a lot healthier than beef. So on my birthday yesterday we went to get some from Napton Village Store, when we got there it the staff were very helpful and the store was full of fresh produce, as well as frozen water buffalo burgers. Which are some of the best burgers I've ever tasted. From field to shelf is less than 1/2 mile and well priced. Congratulations guys, I will return. 👍

Oh this is rather wonderful, a quality village shop with excellent staff and good produce. It's the sort of place that if you woke up with a roaring hangover the bacon, eggs and bread would be so delicious you'd forget the indiscretions of the night before and yomp on your way with glee and a spring in your step. I was slightly disconcerted on my last visit when I recognised someone in there but couldn't quite place them. Assuming they were a teacher from my long lost school days I headed off scratching my head only to remember they were a very famous actor some time later. Ah well, clearly this is about the food, the service and less about the selfies. All to the good.

Lovely little village store, selling local produce as well as wines and beers. What is most outstanding though is the good old fashioned quality service. I arrived at 13.30 on a Bank Holiday Monday. The shop closed at 13.00 and a lady was leaving, having cashed up. She told me that the shop was closed, but opened up to serve me. No fuss. Just happy to oblige. Thank you very much Beautiful steaks sold, there too. Tasty!

Hannah and Adam run an amazing shop/ cafe. Nothing is too much trouble and the food is delicious and home made. There’s a great variety of things to pick from, and their approach to sustainable/ eco shopping is incredible in such a small village. Wish our local store had a refill system! They are both incredibly passionate about what they do, and it shines through. Definitely stop off next time your nearby, you won’t be disappointed! Use it or lose it. We absolutely love our village shop and try to support it as much as possible. We’ve used a well known veg delivery a few times but decided to try the ‘Click & Collect’ fruit and veg box from NVS. What a lovely surprise - it was overflowing with a plethora of colour and variety. We were also able to add chicken and steak (local) to the order, but their website has loads of other choice too. As NVS is a family business the owners are more than happy to be as accommodating as they can to fulfil your online order. Thank you NVS - keep up the great work.

As a regular user of the Napton Village Stores Post Office and Cafe, I can honestly say I have never been let down. There is a fine selection of fresh veg and bread, freezers with locally supplied meats (including water buffalo for a bit of something different), a good drinks selection (including local cider) and many speciality items. All these plus gifts (many made locally) and general household goods. I don't know how they fit it all in the space. The cafe has lovely hot and cold food (eat in or take away), and a cake selection that is always good. Lovely friendly staff and a nice spot just to sit and have a coffee, outside if the weather is fine. If you are passing, drop-in, if not, make a diversion!

We called in unplanned to see if we could get a spot of lunch. We felt very welcomed by all the staff and were impressed with the range of goods on display in the post office and shop. This is what you'd call a "proper" village shop. Probably nothing you couldn't buy! Although they still offered a tempting selection of breakfast dishes until 3.30 pm, and there was a huge range of choice on the menu, I had a delicious ploughman's with proper ham, cheese and all the trimmings and my husband had a prawn baguette, all freshly made and reasonably priced. If we were passing through again we would definitely call in here for lunch. PS and a feathery light coffee and walnut sponge cake went down very well for afters!

I arrived at Napton On The Hill by narrowboat on the Oxford Canal on a sunny Sunday late morning in January, I was very hungry but my fridge was bare and I had 9 locks to climb. So I took the short walk to the village shop, but I was too late they had been closed for 30mins and there was nowhere else for miles to buy groceries. But the nice ladies at the store took pity on the hungry traveller and kindly opened up the shop, when really they just wanted to go home. We walked to the pub along the canal side on a hot day so it was a welcome rest. The landlord was welcoming and the atmosphere was great. We sat in the beer garden and would definitely come back, next time for food as it smelt delicious

Great place to break your Canal trip, stock up the boat, and enjoy a quiche or a marvelous bacon sandwich. Theresa and Sam are delightful, and the cake is to die for!

A regular visitor to this cafe for both eat in and take out, the quality of the food can't be faulted. Hot snacks ara available, the homemade soup comes highly recommended, and the cakes are quite delicious. Part of the local store there are hand made gifts available as well as a good range of groceries, interesting bakery goods and fresh vegetables. Worth a diversion into the village if you are passing.

My husband and I found this by chance and I'm so glad we did. This place is amazing. A true local establishment. Staff so very friendly and obliging. That offer local food and crafts. They catered for every form of shopping to organic foods and gifts sorted locally and a very nice cottage kitchen with delightful food (had a lovely breakfast there) also the locally baked cakes and bread looked very tasty :) If your staying in or pasting through Napton well worth a visit.

Five cycling miles from home I yielded to temptation and called in for an urgently needed drink and cake. Staff friendly and welcoming. Cake excellent. Functional seating outside in the sun. I only glanced around before taking my cake outside, but the array of attractive and quality goods grabbed my attention. Memo to self: put this place on your regular route and investigate the other cakes under their glass covers.

We visited to buy Bacon and ended up spending a small fortune. This shop is full of very good quality goods and stocks just about everything. Also provides coffee and snacks. This was our third visit as we went back again as we were so happy after our first visit. Very useful if you are going past on the Oxford Canal.

Wonderful service, lovely food, generous portions. We forgot our dog’s dinner, and bought a couple of sausages to keep her going - bless ‘em, they chopped them up into a bowl, added a couple of dog biscuits and brought them out first. So lovely ❤️

Best restaurant in the Cotswold. Most innovative menu choices, food bursting with flavor. The chef's heart is in every bite. Had oyster mushroom brunch and sausage vegetable stew. Both tremendous.

Trudie is so lovely and welcoming and the garden is an oasis of calm. Delicious cakes and treats as well as a lovely craft selection to browse. I would highly recommend a visit when the new season starts next spring
