We loved our noodles and dumplings at this lovely little restaurant. The service was great even though we turned up half an hour before they closed. We had the dumplings and buns deal and the noodle soup which were all delicious. The owner and staff were obviously really proud of their food and enjoyed seeing their customers enjoy it. We had a nice chat with the owner whilst our son finished his second portion! Thank you

We called here after following them on Instagram and they did not disappoint. Everything is freshly made, from the dumplings and buns to the soups. We got 8 mixed dumplings and pork noodle soup to share, this came to £10. You could taste the different elements of the dumplings, they were light and delicious. The soup was really tasty and the noodles had a really good chew without been too thick.

It's a few years since I was in Newcastle and things seem to have changed down in Grainger Market with lots of food places I don't remember being here before and food from all over the world. Nan Bei is a great spot for moderately priced dumplings and steamed buns. All made by hand in front of you in the tiny kitchen. Quite a few choices and plenty of veggie options too. You can go for a mixed 4 or 6 dumplings if you are hungry. All very tasty. There are no seats so it's very much an eat at the counter option. Perhaps before grabbing a coffee and seat at one of the other places (like Pumphreys for coffee).

The pork and cabbage, the chilli and beef and chicken and mushroom are fantastic dumplings. So good. You can mix and match, and we always order 6 each and mix with those 3. Tried the egg one as well, but the three I mentioned above are our favs. We have never had a bad meal from here, ever. Absolutely consistent in every way. We've decided that next time we visit we will try and make room to try the buns and at some point the noodles. We will, of course, be back and would highly recommend eating here.

This is a great little stall in Newcastle's fantastic Grainger Market. The Market is getting a reputation for food with some fine independent stalls ad well as the more traditional butchers etc. This little stall sells a limited range of Chinese Street food dumplings and 'buns'. They are made fresh on sure and you can see the next batch being prepared as you order. They are freshly steamed and are some of the most delicious snacks I've had in the town. In fact when my daughter and I visited we couldn't stop ordering! I'm no expert on Chinese food but these certainly have an authentic feel. The fact that the stall specialises on doing one thing well rather than a wider range means the food is top notch. Its just a stall so it's really food on the go but there are a couple of stools so you can eat at the counter if it's not busy. I recommend you pay Nan Bei a visit and whether it's for a quick snack or a filling lunch (the buns and twisted buns are very filling! )

They come in a few flavours- pork and celery, pork and cabbage, spicy beef and carrot, white fish and a mushroom flavour. The beef and pork/cabbage were the standout flavours for me, the fillings were cooked to perfection.I got the 6 for £3.50 offer (also had 4 for £2.50) and it was the perfect amount for a tasty lunch/snack.At the counter there is a little seasoning tray with (I believe) soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, garlic oil and scallions/coriander mix. I was recently sent an article by a friend that was in The Guardian, which listed the top ten budget places to eat in Newcastle. Grainger Market featured in this list and had Nan Bei's was one of the places to eat in the market. One Saturday, we decided to give it a go.Nan Bei is in Alley 2 of the Grainger Market and is on one of the corners. They hand make the dumplings on site and the are AMAZING!! We have tried the Pork and Cabbage (my personal favourite), Pork and Celery and the Spicy Beef and Carrot. You can have a mixture of different ones too. You get six steamed dumplings per serving for £2.50 and for an extra 50p you can actually have them dry fried. There are sauces and oils on the counter top for you to add yourself. There is the traditional soy sauce and garlic and chilli oil (which is the two I always go for) as well as a few more.We always order Gyoza when we go to Wagamama's, for example, and we now only get them from Nan Bei's as they are simply the best! This is my favourite place to eat in newcastle for a quick light bite for lunch! Our new "shopping" lunch enables us to travel the world under one roof! We start here at Nan Bei's and have 6 dumplings each, we then move over an alley (to alley three) and have a slice of pizza each and a San Pellegrino at Pizza Slice. After our Pizza, we then pop along to Le Petite Crêperie and have a Biscoff and/or Salted Caramel crepe and then pop round the corner to the Pet Lamb Bakery for a brownie and cupcake. All of this for around £15 depending on what we have and how much we have!Seriously, check this place out! It is well worth it! Well done Grainger!

The Grainger Market has been lifting its game lately with lots of new small independent snack bars. Great news for Newcastle shoppers and hopefully gives a new lease of life to this fantastic covered market. Nan Bei dumpling bar is a great case in point - a small but deliciously tasty selection of dumplings that you eat off the counter or take away. They make the dumplings from scratch on the premises, steamed or fried. My favourites are the prawn and white fish, with a splash of vinegar and soy sauce. Garlic and ginger are free additions too. Only down side is that they seem to close early, but a great place for a quick lunch.

Fantastic thai food specially their pad thai has got to be the best in the neighbourhood! The curries are delicious and creamy and the papaya salad is as authentic as it gets. We were served by a very kind and polite guy who was managing the floor by himself but never made us feel rushed or not looked after. Delighted to have finally found a great Thai place. They accept only cash which can be a little inconvenient.

This restaurant is part of the Maldron hotel where we stayed. We had the three course set menu, which was less than inspiring, and the food was fairly basic in terms of ingredients and plating. It was a shame really as the service was great, and I've no issues with any of the staff. All very professional and attentive.

Tristemente no volverá 😞

This used to be my favourite bubble tea place where I would frequently come to visit. However, the past couple of times, I have been left very disappointed. The quality of especially the taro milk tea seems to have gone down hill-it doesn't taste nice anymore. However, there are no faults in the fruit teas.
