Namu in Kingston upon Thames

My favourite food spot in Kingston to grab lunch. Everything on the menu is good-amazing tempura, best Korean sweet chilli chicken. This place is outstanding! Cash or back payment, relaxed outside benches- street food stall style.

Not very good. I ordered a chicken stir-fry noodle but it was microwaved not cooked fresh. Quite disappointed. The food is not awful but not good as well. The people are quite nice tho.

Great place for a quick meal. Foods are tasty at a good price. But you may have to have your food quickly when you dine in. Otherwise, the pigeons nearby may ask you to share your food with them LOL

I'm writing this because you don't have a email or a number for me to contact your business. I've been here a few times but we went yesterday lunch time and both got the sweet chilli noodles but a hour hours later we both felt nauseous. My partner has woken up today and still feels bad. I'm not sure if it was from the food but that's the only thing we both had the same of

I've moved away from London but each time I'm back I make a pilgrimage to get the sweet chili chicken donburi. I have searched high and low to find it's equal and have come up wanting. Fantastic food

Delicious food and great prices. I've tried all their dishes over the years and all brilliant. Favourites are the chicken teriyaki and yaki soba. Staff are lovely too, very friendly and helpful. .

Who would have thought a market stall could achieve a five star review? Well this place certainly exceeded my expectations so much so that I tried it for a second time within a few days which confirmed my reason for a five star rating Here’s what I liked: • Very friendly service • Open kitchen so you can see just how fresh and clean everything is • The food. Tempura Udon is one of the best I’ve had anywhere and a side of tempura prawns. Light, crisp tempura batter, not greasy and plump juicy prawns worth every penny. What I didn’t like: • Cash only It would be unfair to say it had an atmosphere but it didn’t and it is outside so you go here with expectations clearly managed. Overall I would definitely recommend going if in Kingston but would suggest you attend on a warmer day as you’ll be sitting outside. Do I recommend going? YES Will I go again? YES Was it good value? Absolutely Terrible. Had vegetable soba to take away and expected what it says - noodles with vegetables. I needed to search for any sign of a vegetable and what I did eventually find consisted of a few tiny shreds of carrot and onion and two miniscule pieces of broccoli. I doubt whether the complete ingredients, which were 95% noodle, cost more than 20 pence and yet for which they charge £6.

Had very bad stomach cramps for a couple of days after eating here

Very keen to try their teriyaki chicken donburi out and was not disappointed. It also looks super mouthwatering! Chicken is very tender too. Will come back

Perfect food every time. When I can afford it now I do love their chicken yakisoba.

Sticky rice, succulent fried chicken, velvety sauce, long random strand of hair, what more could you want in a katsu curry?

Chilli Chicken is excellent. Prawn tempura is too good for street food! Nice people and good service.

Chilli Chicken used to be good here but last 2 times it's really poor - chicken soggy with soggy batter falling off chicken and mushy rice over cooked - won't be going again

Really tasty food and there is a dedicated seating area for it.

Perfect local lunch spot ! Food was good, prompt service. Chicken was flavoured well and very crispy. Soup and noodles were delicious. Overall enjoyed my meal on a quiet Monday afternoon. Market place does get busy on weekends with long queues. Weekdays are a better experience if it suits better. All for supporting small local business and stalls 😇

Unfortunately Namu's quality and flavours have deteriorated over the years. I have been coming here for over 10 years but today the food was terrible. The prawn tempura reminded you of partly frozen prawns and the chicken donburi tasted fake.

First visit and tried the chicken teriyaki on the recommendation of staff. Chicken cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside and moist and tender inside. Accompanying sticky rice mixed with beansprouts and a side of Brockley florets. Very well flavoured and balanced dish. Highly recommended

I would definitely reccomebd this place to eat for anyone. The food is delicious and there is a good selection of it, too. Also, wait times are short and there is a small amount of customization as well. The food is also very cheap for its high quality. I highly reccomend eating at this place!

Always satisfying. Quality is steady and never drops. Their donburi and ramyun are best.

We’ve had lunch from Namu before( before the pandemic) and we enjoyed their menu back then. This time it was very disappointing!! We ordered Prawn tempura udons and dumplings. The soup was very bland, no taste at all. It contained just a few bits of overcooked fish cakes and one prawn tempura! There were no fresh ingredients like spring onions or seaweed. The dumplings looked as if they had been kept warm for sometime, very oily and no crunchiness at all. For what we got this was overpriced. Also, they used to have tables but this time there was nowhere to sit. All in all we won’t go back there to buy another lunch. By the way I am Korean.

Japanese/Asian Chili Chicken Donburi is delicious, very tasty. I normally has the Chicken Ramen or Seafood Ramen, which is a soup, noodle dish. Always made fresh and really hot. Great Japanese food. Cash only. This is a market stall. Portion sizes are fairly large.

The best Korean Restaurant in Kingston Centre. The food is really delicious and tasty. My favourite dishes is Sweet Chili Chicken and Chicken Katsu. They serve so quickly.

I work local, so the Kingston food market is usually where I grab my lunch, for me Namu is the best food market in town. The sweet and sour chicken with rice is as good as anywhere. The taste, the portion, the price. 10/10.

Lovely food and always look forward to this when I’m in Kingston. The tempura prawns are delicious and the katsu curry is great. Support these guys over big chains like Wagamama. Better food for cheaper!

Sweet Chili Chicken is a must have with Veg noodles. Freshly prepared and delicious. Both of those will set you back 10 GBP. But the portions are good enough for 2 pax for lunch!

I have had so much food from here. The staff are really friendly and the food is just the best. It’s in the centre of Kingston market and I highly recommend finding it, because when you do, you won’t be disappointed. Sweet chilli chicken is a must. They do vegetarian food too but the Chicken gyoza is the tastiest I’ve ever eaten. Thank you for great food and service.

So glad Namu has reopened. The food is always delicious, made with fresh ingredients and served with a smile. The chicken dish I had yesterday was excellent, with very tender pieces of chicken and nicely crisp on the outside. My husband had a vegetable udon dish which he described as delectable. It is also cheap considering how generous the portions are.

Love the food here, its always fresh and quick. The staff are always polite and they have student discount. The Sweet Chilli Chicken is my favourite, and a great price.

Tried to get some food to eat in, forgot to get a spoon, then a random bird eats from my soup. Can't get another one without paying for a new one. What? Do they expect customers to continue eating that? I'm never eating there again, if an accident like that happened in my cafe or food stall, we would replace it. Waste of money.

Honestly where do I start, best Asian food in Europe.

Stopped for a quick bite late afternoon on Saturday. Chicken Katsu and Sweet Chiili Chicken were very tasty and just what was needed to warm us up. Outdoor covered seating just beside the stall, and there is a loo in the Market building.

Really good food , my favorite option in the Kingston market. Fast, delicious and very consistent. Highly recommend

The BEST Tempura Udon everrrrrrr anywhere

Always absolutely delicious food (I tend to go for the sweet chilli chicken donburi with noodles) and the quality is always superb. The portion sizes are generous, the food delicious and the student discount an added bonus! Can't recommend this any more highly - the best market food in Kingston.

Used to go here all the time when I went to Kingston uni. Now I have to go back every time I’m in the area. The spicy vegetable ramyun is great to warm you up and a cold day!

I used to work in the local area and always got lunch from Namu once a week. The spicy chicken Ramyum was my favourite. They have slightly changed the recipe (noddles) and upped the price but it's still the best ramyum in Kingston !

I was recommended here by a friend, however what I experienced was not good at all. We ordered chicken katsu curry and the chicken was cold, the rice was overly moist and the sauce was very bland. A friend also requested just rice and curry sauce due to an intolerance and was told they couldn’t do it, however no reasons were given. Wouldn’t go again. Overpriced too for the quality. Upsetting really.

I always go here when I visit Kingston. This place has great value for the food you receive. The staff are friendly too. I got the chicken udon and the chicken katsu with rice. Delicious and filling!

I had the fried pork cutlet curry bowl, it was really nice. Decent portion size and good service, worth the wait!

Although I love the food in here, the customer service is so bad! Rude and angry front house staff. Enjoyed my teriyaki chicken which I received with student discount and free drink. Will still recommend it to others. Good spot in the market side.

Never had a bad experience here! The food is great and it's a cheaper and quicker alternative to going to a restaurant for lunch in Kingston. They offer a student discount (meal and a drink for around £5 from what I remember) too. Sometimes there can be a long queue but that indicates popularity rather than poor service.

When in Kingston you should visit Namu. It's very good and great value for money. Can be busy but worth the wait (which won't be long) just head for the market place and look for busiest place. Enough said !!!!

There is always a long queue outside this place and so decided to try the chicken katsu curry here. Decent enough and tasty - not the best in Kingston but the value and speed is fantastic - only £5.50 for a fairly large portion. Perfect for quick lunch on a Saturday.

Yo suelo visitar un par de veces a la semana y el personal (irónicamente para un restaurante Coreano japonés) siempre encantador y la comida siempre es rápida y deliciosa. Me parece que nunca nada malo con la comida y yo particularmente recomendado el sweet chili pollo!

Fuimos a Namu improvisada, no es normalmente mi cosa pero fue tentado por el tempura. Había un poco de cola, pero se murió después de 10-15 minutos y el servicio era rápido.

Mi familia siempre hará una parada en esta cabina japonesa cuando visitamos el mercado de Kingston. Sirve comida sencilla honesta y rápida, siempre una multitud ya que las ganancias de popularidad. Nos gusta el salmón teriyaki y mis padres me encanta la tempura ebi. Simple y agradable almuerzo rápido que nos ayudará a conseguir con nuestras compras. Intentando resistir ir cada fin de semana!!!

Fui a Namu muchas veces y he de decir que es realmente bonito. Pollo teriyaki era genial como pan pollo frito crujiente y jugoso por dentro era y la salsa era dulce que va bien con el pollo. Que empezara poner nuevos menús y se ven muy interesantes como el pollo katsu curry, que era excelente. Si quieres algo rápido, barato, comida japonesa, ésta es su mejor opción (no YoSushi)

A petición de nuestros dos niños pequeños nos llama a Namu temprano en un sábado a mediodía antes de que se pusiera demasiado ocupado en un luminoso y soleado día enero. Nuestra hija más vieja ordenados los langostinos con fritos con arroz y su hermana ordenados el plato de cinco gyoza que le guste. Junto con una naranja Fanta y 7-up la factura total vinieron a exactamente 10 libras. La comida se servía rápidamente y nos sentamos en el área cubierta al lado la cocina para disfrutar de la comida. Otra breve visita exitosa de este sabroso para llevar y mercado restaurante japonés con mamparas.

horrible comida japonesa unathentic. No hay donde cerca auténtico. Gyoza no es incluso gyoza. Es algunas bolas chinas comprado de comestibles asiáticos. pasta de Tempura es tan gruesas como si estoy teniendo pollo frito. Sopa de udon es demasiado insípida, fideos ni siquiera adecuadamente preparado. Ni bueno ni de cerca. desperdicio de dinero incluso probar al menos una vez.

Este es un pequeño restaurante situado en la plaza del mercado.Las mesas y las sillas sencillas son meticulosamente limpia. El servicio es excelente. El personal es muy amable y servicial, en especial cuando usted necesita un consejo. La comida es buena comida de la calle cocinados en los locales, ofrece una excelente relación calidad-precio y el menú ofrece una buena variedad de comida para todo el mundo. Como en la mayoría de los sitios de comida el almuerzo puede ser muy concurrido especialmente los fines de semana. No te desanimes, ya que sin duda vale la pena la espera. Buen apetito!

Namu is great for a quick bowl of noodles or a rice dish, it's good value and the food is pretty decent. It's best to avoid peak periods as it can get very busy making it difficult to get a table.

Gran restaurante japonés de la calle! Hemos estado aquí un par de veces y siempre podía confiar en un buen precio (todos los platos por £5) y calidad, nunca fui decepcionado. Me gusta especialmente la sopa udon tempura, que viene bien caliente con huevos procedentes y gambas gigante. Deliciosa. Está abierto sólo entre semana y siempre hay una cola de compradores, empresarios y familias concurridas generalmente las personas de todas las edades y nacionalidades. Disfrute!

No importa que los surroundngs eran un poco corriente, lo que importaba era el excelente sabor de la bulgogi de cerdo. Si hubiera sido tiras cortina colgando sobre la entrada, podría haber creído regreso East. Generosa porción y picante compararlo, era justo lo que necesitaba en un día frío.

We often call in to Namu the Japanese restaurant food stall in Kingston Ancient Market place for a delicious soup or rice dish or other element of Japanese cuisine (but not on Sundays when it is closed!) The menu includes vegetable gyoza pan-fried dumplings, tempura battered deep-fried king prawns, udon thick wheat-flour noodles soup, ramen noodles, vegetable and chicken curry, yakisoba fried noodles, chicken or salmon teriyaki donburi rice bowl dishes and deep-fried pork katsu donburi. We have tried many dishes on the menu and can reliably enjoy a snack lunch here with our children in the outdoor market setting.
