We had a really delicious meal and perfectly prepared cocktails at this nightspot that’s often overlooked by those who are more interested in dinner and drinks than concluding a late night out. Past 10pm there’s always a line, but from 7-9 it’s super easy to get a table and is just a nice place for an Asian fusion dinner. Drink prices can be stiff, but then again, so are the drinks. We were happy with our well prepared gin Martinis, not always the case in London, and avoided the exotic “Flaming Ferrari.” The items on the somewhat abbreviated food menu are really delicious and reasonablly priced for S Ken and Chelsea. The mains and sides are well prepared and simple dishes like the steamed whole fish are delicate and light. There is a small dim sum selection that we really enjoyed. The also a flash fried green beans are a signature dish. There is a really light (not oily) and delicious version of Singapore noodles, but under a different name, listed as a side dish along with fried rice. If you like vermicelli rice noodles with curry seasoning, you might enjoy it. The proprietress Gwen is the young and charming daughter of one of the restaurants’s two founders and who inherited Nam Long. (Although the old and antique reviews bring down the overall rating, that’s a classic TA problem in my experience. Namely, 20 year old reviews that have nothing to do with the present even if they might have been fair then. ) I get that the occasional bad reviews will still happen when the inevitable unruly patron is turned away at midnight. But by that time we will be at home in bed after enjoying a delicious dinner in the earlier evening.

The food is consistently excellent and we really like the combination that include close things like dim sum, steamed fish, and traditional dark and noodle dishes. All of the place is really known for cocktails and late night, find it very easy to get a table earlier in the evening and our focus is really on the menu offerings. That’s not to say that we don’t have a drink or two, but we really can’t come out on the late night scene.

We came for drinks only, so headed straight downstairs to the bar. Although our party arrived later than mid-evening, we were the only ones there. However, the room filled up from empty to maximum capacity phenomenally fast! The place has a very good atmosphere, and things like the hand-illustrated matches and engaging staff add a unique and personal touch respectively.

Drinks were good before but seem to be getting even better, definitely potent. The tea smoked duck with pancakes was excellent. We liked the dim sum. We had noodles as well as egg fried rice. Everything we were served was excellent and the food is priced very reasonably.

Esto lo puedo entender dentro del concepto de bar de copas. El servicio es amable pero muy lento. La espera es insoportable. Pero lo peor es el timo por el precio de la comida. Gwen, the charming daughter of one of the two original co-owners, is amazingly attentive of and has done a wonderful job maintaining the best part of the experience at Nam Long. We are regulars. We live about a block away, and there are many restaurants in the area, but this is our favourite. It’s extremely reasonable for the food, and the only understandable reason for why anyone would think it’s expensive is the high-end cocktails, that by the way are EXTREMELY potent, can be pricey. We tend to be modest drinkers and enjoy the ginger steamed seabass, the signature garlic fried green beans, The great dim sum, ribs and the Singapore noodles. We’ve only been going here for about 20 years. Any negative reviews that you see are mostly throwbacks to years ago and prior management and I’m not in at all to do with Gwen’s team. I’ve written probably 300 views to TripAdvisor and I have to say, out of all of them, I would put Nam Long near the top of my list for favourites. Highly recommended, especially the food.

I’ve given a two out of five because the food was ample, the service was shocking. There was 2 tables in eating that evening, not over run so in my mind service shouldn’t of been an issue. It seemed that if you weren’t having cocktails every five minutes the waitress wasn’t interested. As soon as I sat down and was handed the menu I was asked what I wanted to order, which was greeted with a huff when I said I had no idea and the rest of my party wasn’t sat with me. When I got her attention when we were ready to order, I then had to find her to get a fork, twice. When our food came, my father ordered a salad but what arrived was two king prawns and some green beans. When she came to clear the plate and we said “that was a funny salad” she just laughed and walked off…. The final part that was the most annoying was the bill. The order was incorrect, but yet I was about to be charged for the original salad AND the two prawns. Got that changed, but I also had to tell her to take off the service charge because 1) there was no service 2) the 12.5% was on top of Vat. All in all seemed like the correct thing to do there was have a cocktail @ £14 a pop and chat at the bar…

I went here with my fiancé for a four cocktails and a four/five plates of foods. The total bill was an eye watering £150. The service was decent but I couldn’t help but feel we got ripped off a tad. The food was good but not at that price bracket. It’s a shame because the decor is fantastic and the bar is very hip and the Clientèle seem fun. I may return for drinks but for what it is, it’s far too expensive. There are plenty of other places you can go eat for 1/2 the price. Im unsure how they can keep getting repeat business...

Lack of COVID precautions overall at this restaurant and I wouldn’t recommend. Not socially distanced - we were packed into crowded area right next to two tables and had asked to move. Other customers coughing at table next to us. Waiters not wearing masks at all times and took off to come to sing happy birthday at a table next to us. No soap available in bathroom (they had mixed bottle with water). Sticky menus and table.

That’s a weird place - there is a nice vibe once you enter, but after this it’s impossible to hear each other, the music is way too loud. No social distancing measures with the staff touching you on the back on several instances, or coming really close to your face to speak with you — not the best during the current pandemic. Food was tasty but we waited for quite a while and is significantly overpriced. Downstairs, there is extra space and when I visited the bathroom I saw several empty tables with unfinished food, and no one was there (no customers or staff) suggesting these were left there for quite a while.

What a relief to be back, an injection to the soul to be back with a restaurant with so much history and strength- the pandemic has not beaten this gem! Savaged with the 10 pm curfew diners and drinkers have started a touch earlier- get in for the 7pm slot and enjoy a proper evening. Its warm, cosy and friendly air have been missed, the food is just as tasty and it is refreshing to see we havn't been slammed with a reduced slack covid menu! The Jumbo king prawn curry is a must- Thank you Nam Long you've been missed

Chelsea’s unrivaled late night ‘watering hole’ with an always eclectic mix of guests, from famous to local, all in various stages of happy inebriation. This place is not about dining, it’s about late night drinking and partying which is why it starts to wake up after 10PM only to keep building. I make a b-line every time in London. The second generation is doing a fine job honoring the past while also ushering in some tweaks.

Tired place, unexciting food, inattentive ‘too busy’ staff. Overpriced bland cocktails. A very disappointing dining experience - I was very close to insisting the Service Charge be removed. I’ve lived a quarter mile from Nam Long for last ten years. It was bad on my first visit then, and unfortunately nothing has change - or it’s worse. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Great food and great ambiance, after 11 the crowd started to shuffle in and turned into a lively bar, with great cocktails and people. Definitely the best bar in South Kensington- Chelsea area. Whenever I have the chance to go back to London I’ll repeat the experience. Totally worthy.

It looked nice and busy from the window of the cocktail bar I go from time to time. Me and my friend booked the table for 2 for some food and drinks, but we left after few starters. Food is good, place looks cute but the staff and service is terrible. They either too much attentive ( every 2 min someone was keep checking on us ) or not attentive at all when needed. Also 8 members of staff standing around the bar and all clients could see are their back, so you can shout or scream or wave when you need them but no one will react until you stand up from the table and go to the bar. There’s clearly no communication. Won’t be back.

Almost none guests, but loud funky music and six waiters hanging around the bar. There was one other table with loud-speaking guests, with the loud music it was difficult to have a decent conversation. We ordered spring rolls and two dishes with rice, the rice and spring rolls came last, which was kind of strange. The beer glass was dirty -and the beer could’ve been colder. Average food, probably better place for (expensive) drinks.

Escuché sobre este lugar en la nueva saga de J. K. Rowling, vine a Londres y quería ver de qué se trataba este lugar. Primero me emocioné con el menú (fusión vietnamita / asiática) y el sabor no me decepcionó, la calidad y el precio eran realmente buenos, las bebidas eran muy consistentes y sabrosas, probé el Man Thai y un vodka Jade, puedo recomendar tanto .El servicio fue muy bueno, pero la cocina tardó un poco más de lo esperado, nada de qué preocuparse, pero creo que se puede perfeccionar ya que tenían cuatro mesas en ese momento.El bar no estaba lleno, pero todavía tenía el ambiente para un miércoles, volveré el fin de semana, ¡me dijeron que siempre está lleno de gente, ruidoso y divertido!¡Vamos a ver de qué se trata todo esto en un viernes ocupado!

The service was the most disappointing part of the experience - there was 4 or 5 waiting staff sitting and standing around the bar, chatting, using their phones & one even putting on his mascara in the mirror. We were not regularly checked on and needed to get their attention most of the time for another drink. We were also not offered any dessert and after sitting their for a while with empty glasses we called over for the bill. The restaurant was extremely quite - only 2 other tables were filled and after speaking with the staff, they explained that it was due to the time of year (Christmas) and that normally the place was extremely busy. Putting that aside, it should have made the service better, rather the staff just all looked really bored.

This is a true neighbourhood spot, we come in for a quiet evening at the start of service and we are never disappointed with the homey dishes. Imperial spring rolls wrapped in lettuce and dipped in fish sauce ...yummmmmmy. This place gets incredibly busy over the course of the night, however we enjoy both sides of this gem, we can enjoy a quiet dinner and be propelled into this full energy ball Nam Long manages to create. 9pm starts here are probably ideal, came here for drinks for years and then tried their food which is majorly eclipsed by the popularity of the bar.

My friend and I had one of the best dinners at Nam Long. We were welcomed by friendly staff the moment we arrived and seated straight away. The food is one of the best I’ve had in London. Highly recommend the dim sum dishes, they were all great. Other highlights were the beef tataki, Saigon chicken curry and the ceviche. All were super flavourful and delicious. Service throughout the evening was also faultless. The bar started filling up later into the evening and the general atmosphere was vibrant and fun so we stayed for a few cocktails - which were also great! We’ll be back again for sure. Highly recommend Nam Long to everyone.

Nam Largo parece desde fuera como un bar para la gente de Chelsea, y ciertamente puede conseguir esa experiencia si quieres, pero si quieres una buena y muy bien de precio comida fusión asiática no te puedes equivocar aquí. Los rollitos de primavera son particularmente buenas. El personal es atento y atento, y el ambiente hace que te sientas como un restaurante mucho más caro (es un halago! ) felizmente recomendaría a cualquiera.

Reserva aquí el sábado por la noche para 4 personas en 7:00 pm. A nuestra llegada, el restaurante estaba cerrado y tuvimos que esperar fuera por 5 minutos. No es un gran problema, pero pensamos que era un poco extraño. Todos los bares y restaurantes de la zona. Mientras comíamos éramos las únicas personas en el restaurante. La comida estaba bastante buena, principalmente china, el ambiente era un bar de fiesta. Demasiado ruido, me gusta un poco de música, pero mientras estuvimos allí una señorita bailando en el bar. Cocktails were good. Barman was keen. Food was good but slow to arrive. Very noisy restaurant. Rather put out by the couple with tongues down other's throats out at a table down stairs - classy! Prices were rather high, even for London. Restaurant seemed to be getting very smoky, and on leaving we discovered why - the bouncer was chain-smoking in the open doorway. Quite revolting, and I suspect illegal in the UK. This morning our clothes all stink of cigarettes - yuck !

We all enjoyed the really tasty food they make, one of us was vegetarian and she had good variety of choices on the menu. Spring rolls are highly recommended from everyone on our table! After dinner we had some cocktails, really good and balanced, atmosphere was great we had big fun while some of us enjoyed famous flaming ferraris accompanied by the typical Ferrari song! We were actually quite impressed with the food. We had the gyoza to start which was nice and the prawns and infused beef for mains. Everything was really really tasty and fairly well priced. I have to admit that we actually came here for the flaming ferraris which although expensive (£20 each) were amazing. There is a special ritual before each one and once youve drank it you feel very happy for a few hours. Supposedly the equivalent of 7 shots (although I doubt it as I wasnt wasted after one drinks and I'm a light weight).

Asked bartender for 3 cocktails and some shots which came out to £88, which would've been acceptable if he hadn't added £10 for gratuity, which I only found out after he had typed it into the card machine and charged me for it without my consent. I don't mind paying £10 for gratuity either, but when you ask for a set of drinks and it starts to get served and then bartender turns away and spends 5 minutes chatting to other customers and then returning to finish drinks without a 'sorry about the wait'. Also, once I finished paying for it, he put the card machine on the bar top and started to clean, take out rubbish and almost serve other customers until having to insist for my card back and again no comment from himself apart from an annoyed "yeah, I'm coming!" (which was unjustified). I also observed a large amount favouritism. It would seem that if you don't own half of London in this bar, you're not welcome here. I'll leave this one out for the elite who 'belong' here. Poor experience overall.

We live nearby, and pass Nam Long at least once daily, usually with a comment like "we really should try it". So we finally did. We were there on a Friday at 7:30, and the dining room was nearly empty. This is a place that is in its full glory late in the evening, we were neither surprised nor disappointed. By the time we left, 9:30, tables were filling up and there was a livelier buzz.<br /><br />Appetizers were good, and were surprisingly substantial and very good- chicken satay and shrimp/avocado rolls. We started with a couple of cocktails, which were quite tasty as well. Dinner included Saigon chicken curry, and a spicy beef dish, both very good also.<br /><br />Food prices were reasonable, and the food part of our bill was only 41 pounds; the cocktails, at 11 pounds each, seemed a bit pricey.<br /><br />While the food was good, and prices reasonable, there are other pan-asian restaurants in the neighborhood that are equally satisfying, with a somewhat more pedestrian (and no less interesting) drink menu. <br /><br />All in all, worth a visit.

First impression was poor? we rocked up just before 7pm for a 7.15pm reservation and were told they were closed and didnt open until 7pm which left me speechless as all the staff were ready. I wasn't even asked if we had a reservation just sent away...!!! We went to the pub next door for a drink to pass away 15 minutes and came back to find it now locked up..!!! We hung around outside like a couple of spare idiots until someone came and let us in. Still wasn't asked if we had a reservation just sat down and handed menus. I must say that it would have been more traditional if some of the staff were actually Vietnamese or even close? On the plus side the food was good, however not presented very well. I wouldnt go back again becasue party going other people were dancing round the tables while I was trying to eat..? If these are the sort of clients they want fair enough but I was just trying to have a nice meal with my wife.

It's obvious the place is passed its prime. It's a bit too dark to appreciate its decorative features and the furniture is (and felt) from the 90s. That's probably when the place peaked so they're probably just coasting now.<br /><br />Surprisingly, the entire waiting staff and bar crew are from Mexico. All of them nice but the waiting staff in particular seemed quite disconnected.<br /><br />Maybe it was the dinner time slot (8pm) but when we got there the restaurant was nearly empty. There was only a group of dudes on one side and then us (couple) on a small table by the stairs. Not the greatest impression.<br /><br />The food was average. Not bad but nothing memorable either... I literally don't remember what I ordered so that's how much of an impression the food left on me.<br /><br />Two starters, two mains and two drinks - £91. Yeah, the definition of poor value.<br /><br />On the other hand, the bar was buzzing so go there for drinks on a Friday night. Flaming Ferrari? Not sure it's worth the trip unless you're a wannabe junior analyst at Barclays pretending to have money to spare.<br /><br />Honestly, drinks there wouldn't be my first choice considering that there's a pretty good pub next door and a cocktail bar across the street (their Voodoo Punch is gnarly!). If you're already smashed, have poor self-control and you just happen to be walking past the Nam Long Le Shaker then sure, go for it.

Zeer leuk restaurant, leuke sfeer, vriendelijk personeel en geweldig eten !! Staat vooral bekend om hun lekkere cocktails met als signature cocktail de heftige flaming Ferrari.Mijn persoonlijke aanraders wat op de menu kaart staan zijn toch wel de green bean tempura, springrolls, crispy duck pancakes en de beef cubes. I've been going to Nam Long for quite some time now and I can honestly say there is no better place to go for drinks in London. The food is fantastic, try their spring rolls, and the cocktails are unbelievable. I would highly recommend the Jade however if it's your first time in Nam long then the Flaming Ferrari is the way to go! It's always a great night with amazing atmosphere and I've never been disappointed. I would recommend Nam long to anyone.

This was a disappointing experience. We went to the restaurant because of the positive reviews and convenient location. The food was inconsistent and of average quality. Several items did not match (eg seared ginger chicken) their description on the menu. Despite the fact that we were the only table in the restaurant, the staff were inattentive and neglectful (standing away and looking at their phone or chatting with other staff). The music was turned up very loud as we finished, overwhelming our conversation. Will not go back.

Following an average meal at Nam Long I left my rather expensive umbrella behind. Deciding to call the restaurant immediately after I left, I was ensured that they would look after my umbrella until my return the next week. A week later I returned to find rude and incompetent staff who had no clue where the umbrella was and first stated that I must not have left it at the restaurant. After some persuasion that I had indeed left the umbrella in the restaurant I was ensured that the owner would contact me that evening regarding its where about. A week later and still no word, so I called and was told that the owner had spoken to me a few days ago.. Following numerous further phone calls, and being told the owner is miraculously never there, I am yet to here from them. Rude, lying staff who steal your belongings.

A neighbourhood hotspot which oozes sophisticated Vietnamese cuisine. There are some regular dishes from which to choose, but also some unexpected twists and specials. Service is perfect, really old school perfect, with the additional advantage of having handsome faces behind the bar to help you choose from some of the best cocktails I have ever had the pleasure of sipping my nights away on. Personally I love the warmth and the atmosphere downstairs. Great for groups or just a romantic dinner with your better half. Of course, I live nearby, but anyone would love this Chelsea institution! Highly recommended.

This was my first visit to the restaurant, although the 'Flaming Ferrari' cocktail is renowned for it's potency among my friends and the place had been highly recommended to me for food and fun!<br />It didn't disappoint.<br />Despite being a relatively quiet Wednesday evening at the beginning of January, the atmosphere was relaxed and jovial. <br />The staff were quietly efficient and attentive; the food and drinks came quickly, the water was replenished without asking and empty plates cleared when everyone had finished (a pet peeve of mine if removed when someone is still eating...)<br />The food was fantastic, great for sharing and I particularly enjoyed the crispy duck and Sea bass.<br />Whilst I didn't brave the Flaming Ferrari, the cocktails list is plentiful, exotic and unique.<br />This place lures you in and keeps you there all night...

Mi marido y me encanta Gaon y nos diría que en nuestra lista de los 10 mejores de todos los restaurantes favoritos de vez. Hemos sido al menos 10 veces. Estamos un poco preocupados, ya que no ha sido abierto por un tiempo. Están remodelando, ME PREGUNTO? Es la mejor comida coreana en Londres. Recomiendo encarecidamente la barbacoa coreana (el cerdo es especialmente sabroso) y las tortitas de kimchi son de primera categoría. Do not go here thinking you will get a good bar experience. The bartender Dennis was rude. He never responded with words to anything. I asked if we sit and he said I don’t serve anyone. So we ordered and had to find a seat after getting drinks. . He rolled his eyes when we asked for refills. No piano player as advertised.
