We visited the Nags while on a short break at a local glamping site, we intended to visit a different pub each night of our stay however we ended up going back for the rest of our stay. Both food and beer were excellent the menu was varied and after ordering the food arrived quickly. The staff were efficient and pleasant We never made it past the main course as the portions were large, I can recommend the Nags Head bitter and the Thai crispy beef salad, all in all an excellent pub well worth a visit

Staff need training to serve correctly and not lean over customers. Food was ok, cooked well, simple but I thought on the pricey side.

Visited for lunch and was struck by the friendly welcome, decent ales and above all, delicious food. Those providing negative reviews appear to be sharing experiences of visiting at far busier times than we did. Food is freshly prepared and customers shouldn’t be surprised by slightly longer waits when there are larger groups. As for us, we like to avoid such crowds and the ambience of a quieter lunchtime visit suited us to the ground. Thank you to the staff for a fine experience, we will certainly return soon!

Used to love this place but it needs some serious improvement. Beer was warm and did not taste as it should. Food portion sizes, and general quality, are shocking for the prices. I know eating out is expensive now but compared to other local eateries we were very disappointed. There was no warm welcome, staff seemed as if they didn't want to be there. Tables outside were not all on the level and some were in a very sorry state. It's such a shame as it's such a lovely pub, but come on! Make an effort please!

Went with friends to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we arrived and ordered some drinks and advised a young lady that we were booked in for 7.30and a table of four , she couldn’t find a booking and spoke with another lady behind the bar and she said that we could be fitted in. (No apologies ) Our friends arrived and I went to the bar and ordered there there drinks , one of them was a pint of beer that was warm , not wanting to complain I returned to the bar and asked a young man for some ice he obliged. No offer to change but my friend was happy to use the ice . We ordered our food and this took some time to arrive and I actually noticed people who arrived after us getting there food first , but perhaps because they were a table of two . Food arrived and we were asked if we needed anything else and two of us asked for ketchup. I’ve got to say at this point the food was delicious and I’ve not any issues whatsoever with the food. So we were only giving x2 napkins and then a gentleman ( who we later found out to be the manager) asked how was the food “all good thanks “ and we asked him for some more napkins he brought them over and one of the party asked for ketchup as it had still not arrived, his response was “ why didn’t you say that before as it would have save another journey “ not really the response we were expecting considering we had requested it previously., Then when we received the ketchup I’d eaten half of my meal thankfully I didn’t want any as we we received a tiny amount probably a teaspoon certainly not enough for two people. My friend went to get some more drinks and was ignored by the bar staff and when he was finally attended to the young lady was more interested in talking to her colleague while pouring the drinks. I felt quite embarrassed as I’d suggested going to the Nags head and our friends were disappointed with the service so we decided that we would speak to the manager and give them the opportunity to discuss our disappointments , we told him of our concerns and he apologised for his comments regarding the other journey to our table however one of the young ladies behind the bar decided to step in and her comment is the main reason for my complaint is “if your not happy don’t come back “ I have worked in retail and hospitality for over 40 years and I saddened by this situation and disappointed that I feel the need to complain about a local restaurant .

Kids at grandparents so decided to go for a nice meal somewhere. Nags was recommended and I’m glad it was. Whilst the food is not ‘cheap’, the standard of beer, restaurant and food made it worth the cost. Both meals were piping hot, generous portions and very tasty, wouldn’t hesitate to go again. The wait was probably about 30mins but that didn’t bother us as it was clearly evident we’d waited for freshly cooked food. Excellent service too from the young waiting on staff.

Really disappointed at our visit. Rang and booked a table for 4 adults and 2 dogs. After ordering and waiting probably half an hour at least we chased our food and were told it was just being plated up. This was simply not true as food then came 20 minutes later. Outrageously the young waitress served three meals and then confronted us about the one dog per table policy!! Why take our booking then when I was very clear about booking being for 4 adults and 2 dogs. The food was lovely and a great choice on the menu. However the overall experience was ruined by the waitress, slow service and lie. They did knock off the cost of a round of drinks but it was clear we would not be able to bring our two dogs with us again. Such a real shame as we'd had a lovely walk and already planning another walk in the area which would have ended up with food at the Nags Head but we will now have to go elsewhere. When we saw the menu we had even said we'd like to try many dishes on the menu over a period of time. Good service would have been to politely decline our booking when we said two dogs. Or not to lie about food being plated up when obviously something else had happened ( the truth would have been acceptable with a sincere apology). Why one dog per table, had we split up and had two adjacent tables our dogs could have been closer than they were. What a shame.

When my wife and I arrived with our 2 dogs at an allegedly dog friendly pub, we were met at the entrance by the landlady to be told you can't come in as it was only, "One dog per table." We said that we would sit at separate tables with a dog each. The landy's immediate response was, "We don't have any single tables." However, there were plenty of empty available tables. We had travelled 20 miles, having visited with our two dogs on other occasions when they were welcomed and behaved in an exemplary manner. We were not impressed.

We have supported the nags for a number of years, in fact spent three Christmas days with them. So I’m reluctant to give them a poor review but I think it is only fair to other diners. We popped in for tea and so only ordered a main course, but this took over 45 minutes to arrive in a restaurant with only 4 other couples. My wife’s meal she described as ok, mine was not. The duck breast was the toughest I have ever tasted and overcook, I’m not sure if it was the vegetables or the sauce but one had been so over salted it was impossible to eat. I left over half of my meal, which as I was starving , so how bad the meal was. We paid the bill and left as I felt it was unfair on the two young front of house staff to deal with another complaint. The couple at another table had left refusing to pay for one of their meals. Come on nags your better than this give us mid week customers the same standards as your do at the weekends.

Great food cooked to perfection (the birthday boy even commented on just how perfect steak was) and my salmon linguine was devine. The Nags Head was recommended to us by the owners of the campsite we were staying at as it was a dog friendly pub and I’m so glad we visited. You can sit inside with your pooch but are restricted to certain areas We decided to sit outside as the weather was lovely, the establishment was lovely inside and out, and staff very friendly. We popped in to have a few drinks and ended up having some food. Great selection of Ales and lagers, and the food menu is fantastic, lots of variety. Portion size is really good value for money. Overall a really good pub, you won’t be disappointed. Will definitely return again the next time we’re in the area.

Waited 1hour and 10 minutes for our food. We were not informed of this when we arrived, otherwise we wouldn’t have bothered. We were a booked table too not even a walk in. We had kids with us, one being only 12 months old so was ridiculous wait time especially for him. Had to leave without pudding as had an appointment. Waitress asked if we wanted ice cream that came with the kids meal, explained we had no time as mains took so long. Wasn’t offered to even knock a bit off the bill for this! Never mind the ridiculous wait time. Wasn’t even that busy.

Having been to The Nag’s Head on several occasions whilst on holiday over recent years and enjoyed our meals, we were very disappointed with our Sunday lunch today. Sliced packet bread with the Crayfish starter along with a slice of ice cold butter was a bad start. However, the Sunday roast appeared to be pre-packed slices of meat heated up with packet gravy, accompanied by stodgy Yorkshire puddings, frozen vegetables and hard roast potatoes, much of which we had to leave uneaten The service and the beer were very good though!

Friendly, good atmosphere and lovely food. Couldn’t ask for more. Just had two nights eating in pub, as staying locally. Had two very nice evenings. Large haddock and chips was indeed large. We are both chocolate brownie connoisseurs and the chocolate brownie with ice cream at the Nags Head was probably one of the best we’ve ever had. Soft and gooey with warm chocolate sauce and ice cream….a must for chocolate lovers. Gammon, lamb, honeycomb cheesecake and blackberry sponge and custard were all good too. Would definitely return if back in area as would love to try more of their menu. Congratulations to the chefs and staff. You have a special pub, which we thoroughly enjoyed eating in.

The weather has been attricious today with torrential rain and wind in between brief sunny spells. No thanks... Very inhospitable and quite rude. Booking to celebrate a joint birthday, so we'd done our research and chosen a nice place that was new for us. Service was great and the menu choice was good, but the actual food was a let down. The salmon fillet was small, especially for the price. The homemade chicken pie may have had a pastry top and sauce made in-house, but the chicken resembled the grey, tough cubes found in the frozen aisle at the supermarket. Brought this to the attention of the staff and was reassured that the kitchen would be informed.

All were very good, well presented, good flavours, generous portion sizes - no way could I eat 3 courses by myself.A very enjoyable evening, good food, great company and well looked after in a good old english style pub!

We had a late Sunday Lunch at the Nags Head which satisfied three generations with different tastes. It is a pub, not a restaurant, so a bit basic, but the food is good. I loved the Lamb Shank and the gravy was just the best 'pub gravy' I have ever had. Normally, the gravy is just a uniform mix to suit both, pork, beef and lamb, but this was exceptional which just made my meal. The vegetables served separately are an added bonus. Will definitely visit again.

I have been to this pub on several occasions, even though we live over an hour away, and we have always had a excellent food and service. However - last night - on our way home from a weekend away, we look the long route home so we could have some dinner here - perfect end to the perfect weekend. The pub was very quiet at 19:30. 4 waitresses pottering about, a couple of tables eating and a few drinkers at the bar. We found a table in the bar area and my husband went to the bar and waited, and waited, the staff completely ignored him. Now I appreciate that not all staff are able to serve at the bar, but they would not even make eye contact, too busy chatting. One of the other drinkers even commented that we had not been served. Now I will not stand for rude staff, so we left, and went to an alternative pub for some dinner. It put a dampener on the evening and it is a shame as I will not return here, and I have always enjoyed previous visits.

We were a group of 22 walkers and were happy to pre-order our lunch from the whole (fabulous) menu four days in advance. Penny opened the pub at 1030 for us to use the "usual facilities". As the pub was already busy when we got back from our walk, we had to wait a little while before the first meals came out - which nobody minded, as the pub has such a lovely atmosphere - but then they all arrived within five or ten minutes. The food was excellent and I have heard nothing but positive feedback comments.

Called into the Nags Head by chance when visiting Stiperstones. We were welcomed in with our dogs despite not making a reservation. The staff were very friendly and promptly took our order at the table. The food and drink followed swiftly and we both enjoyed our meals which were really good. Thanks to all for looking after us and we will return.

What a fabulous pub the food was amazing, i had the roast beef dinner that came out with two very large slices of melt in your mouth succulent beef and a good selection of veg. And to finnish sticky toffee pudding with honeycombe ice cream. Amazing. Will definatly be going again.

Me and my partner had the most beautiful meal here tonight. The halloumi burger was so yummy, and my partner had the homemade fish cakes. The staff couldn’t do enough for us and it’s such a shame we live so far away, as this would definitely be our regular if we lived closer. Such a lovely atmosphere, the food was top notch and the staff were brilliant.

After a walk on Earls Hill with our dog, we decided to stop by and have lunch outside . We loved the spinach and butternut and cheese filo pastry with lots of nicely cooked vegetables and roasted potatoes. The staff were very friendly.

Nice food yesterday evening, the barmaid who took our order was polite and cheerful just like the guy who brought our food to the table. However, very close sending our drinks back and walking out due to one of the other bar staff giving a loud and explicit account of how she boarded a flight with a hangover and then spewed (her words) catching it all in her jumper; pretty disgusting tbh. She caught my eye and said that she didn't realise that I was listening, the whole pub could probably hear her.

We popped in for a late lunch here after a hike with our dog and were immediately met with a friendly welcome. Lovely atmosphere and the food was very good at a fair price. Customer service also stood out as it was attentive and friendly. Would definitely return if in the area

Certainly not my local , being about 8 miles away, but you can’t beat the food. I have been there many times with family and on my own. Always chatty staff, who don’t mither you while you eat. Again it’s a dog friendly pub but they do ask you to sit in the bar, or garden ,not in the restaurant with your pooch.

The 'specials board' with Catch of the day, was unavailable at 7 pm, on a very quiet tuesday eve. So opted for the fishcakes with 'dressed tomato salad', Asked for small green salad instead of chips.

Popped in early evening to check they had a table for later and we could bring the dog. Told yes all fine. Rocked back up later hungry and ready for food to be told (after we’d ordered drinks that there was no food left today) Useless front of house.

We had huge starters and then an excellent roast beef lunch. The Yorkshire puddings were huge and the red wine gravy was very good plus the roast potatoes were crisp and crunchy. Sadly we had no room for any of the tasty looking desserts on offer.

We headed to Dee Dee's firstly because it is situated within The Range store, where we happened to be browsing, and secondly, because it advertised that it was serving Costa Coffee. We were killing time, waiting for a relative to undergo a hospital appointment, but we waited a LONG time to be served. I actually began to time it on my watch, silly I know, but I was beginning to think that we would have to ditch our idea of a coffee and head back to the hospital. In the end, we waited a little over 18 minutes to be served. Yes, the coffee was Costa, but not served Barista style, more of the kind of machine one finds in a buffet breakfast at a hotel, select your drink, press the appropriate button and the machine dispenses the drink. The staff seemed to be rushed off their feet, with one young lady taking orders and delivering coffees and another, older and more experienced lady putting together the food orders. One felt for them, as they were clearly understaffed and rushed off their feet. Yet, being British, we all stood there and queued! Costa coffee is okay, not nearly as special as it would like to think, but we got what we paid for. The seating area was nicely laid out, sufficient space between tables, but it was all rather canteen, rather than a coffee / cafe /bistro experience. The management should really look at their staffing levels and help out the current members, who are doing their best.

not much occuring but the beer is nice and the staff pleasant. I was the only one in so not much atmosphere but chilled out. The young guy in glasses on the bar was lovely but didn't know much about the beer really

A really good find close to the Park & Ride bus stop at the top of town. Service was welcoming and helpful (husband has some disability) which extended to our dog. A small breakfast for £6 (choose 3 items) was perfect as was the coffee. Lactose intolerance catered for without difficulty. We’ll be back.

Found by accident while out driving around the area. Popped in for a quick lunch about 2.30. Quits a few people in there. Burger and chips were nice. Coffee was good. Toilet was clean also. Would be a good destination if it wasn't pouring with rain as could sit outside.

The staff and service is always great. We came in for a quick drink recently. We really do miss the male owner doing the food, much preferred it then. We’ve been for set menu events and it’s never really lived up to expectations which is a shame. Partner used to always come in then but we don’t tend to visit now. Just an honest one
