Mythos Meze Bar & Restaurant in Monmouthshire

We waited over 2 hours for our food to arrive at Mythos. Several other guests who had arrived later had food arrive before us and the poor couple who sat down just after us decided to leave after 2.5 hours when their food still hadn’t arrived.The warning sign should have been sign on door looking a new chef. The main issues appear to be everyone booking for the same time slots without staggering seating times , too few staff in the kitchen and waiting staff for very full restaurant.I felt really sorry for the waiting staff who were aware of the problems and felt unable to do anything as they told us management aware of issues but had not increased staffing or reduced capacity to ease the issues.I would not go there again!

We arrived at the restaurant to be told our booking was about to get cancelled but as we were there already they would let us have a meal. There were 6 other tables being served and the staff had no idea what they were doing. Took half an hour to get drinks, took another hour to get starters, to be told that we wouldn’t get all the starters we ordered, mains came out an hour later, didn’t get offered any sauces or any more drinks, finished our food, which was actually nice but then we didn’t get offered any desserts, instead we got handed our bill, which included the starters we didn’t even get. The toilet light was broke, no hand towels or hand dryer or hand soap. Food was really good but the staff ruined the visit so wont be coming back.

What a great Greek restaurant it reminds me that We should be in Kefalonia The Meze was fantastic sadly we could not eat it all but a bottle of mythos reminds me of lunch by the beach

The worst customer experience we’ve ever had - waitress was continually rude and dismissive, got very defensive when half the menu wasn’t available. We went there for a family reunion and the attitude of the staff put a big dampener on the event

What a beautiful and authentic Greek restaurant. Love the Greek music and the menu did not disappoint. We were a family of 4 and one of us is a vegetarian. There was enough choice for everyone. Loved the moussaka.

We moved to the area in February just before the first lockdown and this has become our favourite restaurant for a sit down meal and takeaway/delivered during lockdown. Also like the fact it’s an independent, authentic Greek restaurant so supporting the local community rather than a chain. We love Greece and Greek food and this takes us back to happy holidays and memories. The decor is fab and has been decorated like a traditional Greek taverna with the wooden furniture, blue shutters, Greek statues and twinkly lights. There are 2 floors with the bar area downstairs with some eating areas but the main eating area/ restaurant is upstairs on a balcony/ mezzanine overlooking downstairs. There is a huge menu with plenty of choice which is crammed on one side of an A3 sheet and quite small type font so you might need your glasses! Great choice of cocktails too. I’ve shared the meat mezze twice and it’s huge, the food keeps coming. Great value for money too. Don’t really have a favourite dish, the kleftiko is cooked in the paper with all the veg is delicious, the mousakka very tasty, the pork bekry mezze we had as a main during lockdown was fab and very tender but I’ve probably had the souvlaki the most 3 skewers of meat chicken, pork or mixed with Greek chips sprinkled in herbs and Greek salad. The last time we went we went on the Groupon deal which is excellent value for money, I don’t know how they can make any money out of it. My husband had the saganaki cheese flamed in ouzo and I had the feta mell as starters, both were huge slabs of cheese and very tasty. I also need to mention the baklava’s for dessert, they are to die for and one decent size triangle portion with plenty of chopped nuts and that soggy honey, syrupy soaked base . Can’t wait to go back, I’ve been raving about it and taking all my friends who love it too. As a suggestion maybe another dish for vegans though as my daughter found it very limited not eating cheese and one time they had run out of the vegan mousakka.

We came here on a Thursday night and were met with very friendly service throughout the evening.The decor inside is absolutely stunning - the next best thing to being on a Greek island!Lots of food choices - could have eaten all of the starters. We had the taramasalata, dolmades and feta parcel which were all very tasty. For mains, we had the kleftiko and stifado which were also very yummy and very generous portion sizes.Pleased to see that they took social distancing measures seriously as well.We would definitely return here again :)

We are all about supporting local small businesses but we need to also be realistic. Starters were quite basic some nice dips but the portions... tiny.. and the main we had chicken which was just from the microwave. We simply cannot support it and we are confused by the really good reviews it simply doesn’t reflect them. Prices are quite high for what it is and ambience tries to be greek but isn’t, its like some joke 1980s version. We wouldn’t recommend.

Friends invited us and as they were paying whats not to like. Well in our case, toilets with broken doors, no toilet papered to round off the evening a fight outside. Staff were next to useless and food was very average at best, was told they were short staffed but frankly thats no excuse.

The restaurant itself was absolutely beautiful and they have nailed a Greek experience. We had purchased a Groupon voucher and were not disappointed one bit. Food was lovely, great service and we will be visiting again.

We went to this restaurant on the off chance whilst wondering through Chepstow at lunchtime. We had wonderful service and being dairy free there was a lot of choice and help with the menu! It was that great we decided to book in for dinner. Arriving for dinner and the service was once again fantastic, the staff were very attentive, going through the menu with me and telling me what I could eat and what I couldn’t, the food was amazing, one of the best restaurants I have eaten at! Great value for money as well as being absolutely delicious! We would recommend this place to anyone and will definitely be visiting again! Absolutely fantastic!!

I was very excited to be visiting a greek restaurant, i always really enjoy the food, this however was not good.The menu was very limited, no children's menu , the food was pretty average at best and the wind was undrinkable the prices were high though! The staff were fairly rude as well, so that also left a horrible taste !Sad as we only moved to Chepstow recently so had hoped for better.

A little disappointing. We were Groupon customers. There were no cocktails available and we were not offered wine with our meal. The slouvaki was far too salty and chips also do difficult to enjoy or eat. Our starters were nice and the salad and pitta bread which seemed to be more like nann bread. We were unable to eat a dessert unfortunately. Service was good and we didn't have to wait for our food. We will return to try this restaurant again.

Very slow food service, meat came out raw, starters not seasoned very well (could make better at home), wine is disgusting, servers are clearly understaffed for volume of customers. Manager was unkempt and rude, would not go again!

My husband and I went to Mythos last night for our anniversary, we originally purchased the voucher in February and we were gutted that we haven't been able to go due to the lockdown...however it was very short lived and disappointing!We arrived at the restaurant at 7:30 and were quickly seated by the waiting staff. We did not get our drinks menu or food menu until around 8pm, to which I was told I would have to go to the entrance to be able to show them my voucher as the internet doesnt work where our table was located. the drinks did come out quite quickly (would not recommend the wine offered in the voucher though!) The strawberry cocktail I ordered didn't taste like it had any alcohol in it! They had also run out of elderflower and quite a few dishes on the menu which we were quite excited about trying!Starters arrived shortly after around 8 15, not too bad but we said we could make better at home, and then the wait for the mains started! We gave it until 9pm and just as we were getting our coats on to leave our food arrived. We were already very unimpressed and ravenous only to find the meat which was served was completely raw! I mean who cant cook a piece of steak and undercook pork on skewers?! It was at this point the waitress came over and asked us if it was okay and we asked for the bill, she did offer to have it redone but by this point we could not wait any longer for food to come out which would be absolutely shocking! The poor waiting staff looked incredibly stressed and upset about it. I would like to point out that we were seated next to a couple which didnt have the groupon voucher had their food on time and were very happy with what they were served... seems like if you have a voucher the kitchen staff dont really care!

When we walked in we thought the restaurant looked stunning and really took us back to our holidays in Greece. The starters were great and the cocktails which came at the same time were equally good so we were expecting to have a really great meal / experience. Sadly having just read many reviews on this place we then experienced what others have which was a huge and monumental decline in service and food quality. We waited over an hour for the main to arrive and I had lamb kleftico. The lamb was bone dry and tasted nothing like it does in Greece it was just absolutely horrid. The lamb was accompanied by some burnt new potatoes and some slimey carrots. My other half’s main was also pretty awful. We then waited a further 30 mins for the plates to be cleared with no offer of a desert menu for yet a further half an hour. The waitress then forgot to bring the menus to us. We ordered the deserts but after a further 20 minutes of waiting and no sign of any food we just left even though we had paid for deserts as we had been in the restaurant for 2 and a half hours already. We heard several other neighbouring diners passing comment on the slow service and terrible mains. I’ve never had to leave a place like this. Needless to say we won’t be going back. No one asked us how our food was it doesn’t seem like they care. The place was half empty on a Saturday night and full of groupon voucher holders .... no we know why.

Had booked a table, was told that they had never revived our booking despite confirmation from the restaurant that afternoon (seems to be a common occurrence having seen other reviews now). Told they would seat us as it was quiet but otherwise they would turn us away.The meal started off well before things went downhill. To be fair the starters and cocktails were very good. We were then served a pint that was completely off. The mains were very disappointing. Moussaka tasted microwaved and was very bland. Pork souvlaki had raw chunks of meat in it. Turns out mains were meant to come with salads that never arrived either. Didn’t bother staying for dessert!

My wife and I booked a table for 24th September 2020 as we have eaten at Mythos a while ago. The restaurant was fairly quiet as the recent increase in Covid and restrictions meant Chepstow was almost empty. But what a treat we had. The restaurant has been renovated during the lockdown and looks so authentic. The service and standard of food was exceptional. Having spent the last 5 years summer breaks in Greece, we have experienced authentic Greek cuisine, and it's exactly what you get at Mythos. If you cant go to Greece because of Covid, then get to Mythos and you will be transported. Let's support our local businesses, they are worth it.

The restaurant itself is beautiful and cosy with lots of greek statues and fairy lights about the place. I had the tzatziki, souvlaki and the feta mall and they were all really tasty. My partner however is vegetarian and as the vegan mousakka was out of stock found the options to be quite limited and not that filling. The halloumi skewers say that they are with veg but they are just with some cherry tomatoes and come with some lettuce leaves rather than the greek salad and the chips as the meat one does. All in all the food was beautifully cooked but not the best for vegetarians so would rate it 4.5 as a meat eater but 3 on the whole.

Such amazing food, big generous portions and lovely staff! A really authentic place and the kleftiko was so well cooked, definitely worth every penny. We will be back soon!

There isn't a lot of Greek restaurants, especially like this, in the south west and so I was so happy when I found Mythos. I booked a meal for Sunday night for me and my family. We love Greece and Greek food,so we were excited to try this place out. It did not disappoint. When we first arrived we were greeted by a lovely young lady wearing a face mask, who showed us to our table. The setting and ambience of the restaurant was very warming and beautiful. I had the meat meze for 2 with my partner - and it was great. The meat was seasoned well and the moussaka side was lovely (you could tell it was made from scratch). My eldest had the veggie moussaka and my son the seabass fillet - both went down a treat. Staff were pleasant and worked really hard to cater to any requests we had. Really happy we discovered this restaurant - would recommend.

My husband booked a table for 2 the week before .. .when we arrived the waitress said we have no record of you booking. my husband showed them phone proof but she said well someone is lying and it's not the staff she was so rude we asked to speak to a manager eventually another girl came to door with a worse attitude she said look you can come in but you wont get good service,have a long wait for food because that is reserved for people who have booked ...unbelievable we obviously didnt stay. Cant believe the attitude of the staff .wish we d have looked at previous reviews before we wasted our time.

After reading the reviews before I went I was a little worried, but that was very soon dismissed.We had a groupon voucher and was really impressed.The setting is beautiful, just like a greek taverna.Food was great, even took some home as the portions were very generous. Staff were really friendly and working hard, especially at these testing times with all the restrictions. Will definitely be back.

I booked a meal for tonight with my wife over the phone on arrival we were informed there was no reservation for us sorry about that. I showed the staff my call logs and was basically told I was lying however there was a booking for the Sunday? However worst to come told we could stay however the service would be poor. I have never had such poor customer service no sorry nothing just no booking. Customer service appalling people get things wrong and they wrote the date incorrectly however they didn't car. Never again its a shame it looked nice staff attitude very poor customer service.

We arrived at 19:30, and was shown to our table. Unfortunately, no one acknowledged us at the table until 20:00. This meant we had to wait 30 minutes to be given a menu, or for a simple drink order to be taken. After being given the menu at 20:00, the waiter returned at 20:15 to take our food and drink order. As our order was being taken, the waiter ran off to inform another waiter about a complaint on another table. Oddly, the waiter did not return, which meant we only received half of our drink order initially. At 20:45 a confused waiter arrived at our table with two main courses, and placed this in front of us. We described to the waiter that we hadn't received our starters, and the mains weren't what we ordered. Disgruntled, the waiter took the food away and gave it to another table nearby. 21:00, our starters arrived, both were fine, nothing to rave or complain about. 21:15 our mains arrived, and we both ordered the same main course. Unfortunately the dishes looked completely different. My potatoes were under cooked, whilst my partner's were burnt. The lamb itself was seasoned well, and tasted good. 21:45 Our desert order was taken. The waiter described that the kitchen was "in meltdown" and we should only order dessert if we really wanted it. We'd bought a groupon voucher, so we wanted to take advantage of the included dessert. 15 minutes later, the ice cream arrived. The food was average, but the service and organisation of the restaurant were terrible. From what we saw, all of the waiters were working their socks off, and were trying their best to look after the customers. From our perspective, it appeared that the restaurant was overbooked, and did not have the right amount of staff to deal with the volume of trade. All the waiters apologised profusely whenever they approached our table, and they all appeared visibly upset that the evening was such a disaster. There was one issue that had a major impact on the waiters, and subsequently the customer service given to the customers. The barman (male, hair gel, wearing a light blue shirt) did literally zero work for the 3 hours we were in the building. We witnessed at least 50 times the waiters asking him to get drinks, to which he ignored. He was too busy entertaining a group of ladies who were using the restaurant as a drinking spot, and he had completely abandoned the bar. This resulted in all the waiters having to go behind the bar, and make all the drinks themselves. This had a major impact on their ability to carry out their role effectively. We discussed this with multiple waiters (when visiting our table) and they were visibly frustrated and upset by the barman's actions. We witnessed multiple customers making complaints, and one customer was in tears by the poor service. Another family walked out due to not being serviced. I understand all restaurants can have bad days, but on this occasion it was beyond anything I've ever experienced. Chaos reigned supreme!

I booked through a Groupon voucher as it was my mums 60th. At first the service was good, checking in on us, then..... When we had finished our main, the plates that took over our small table, stayed on our table for around 40 minutes, no where to put ur arms or drinks ect... I asked 3 times to remove, we were also desperate for more drinks but again this was ignored! By this time we had only received 1 drink within 2 hours. It was not busy their, around 5 other tables some only couples, Their were 3 staff serving tables,other tables after us were served more regular, cleared away and finished before our mains were removed! When cocktails arrived these were awful! Not cocktails at all... All 4 of us thought they were cheap and non drinkable.No ice cream, No Salmon, the waitress didn't have a clue what was in the cocktail when we asked, they didn't have a menu for drinks either? They took that long that when they did finally get around to take order for desert nearly 3 hours after arriving my party didn't want anything nor drinks! They were very unhappy and the staff were arae that all this mess was on our tiny table as they walked passed to everyone else...MAYBE THIS WAS BECAUSE I PURCHASED A GROUPON but i still payed therefore would have expected a better service!!! DONT Bother i wish i saved my £100 and go elsewhere, i was very disappointed as i had been waiting to come here. On the way out one waitress was out by the front door having a fag so that might explain the slow service if breaks were taken when customers were still waiting.

Having been to this place a few times before it changed ownership I wanted to go back and support them after they reopened. Me and my friend saw the groupon deal and thought it looked ideal! HOWEVER it was a disaster from start to finish. We were seated without problem thankfully they had our names down as some other couples weren't so lucky. We then waited 30 mins for someone to even take a drinks order which then took another 30 mins to appear! We asked for water about 5 or 6 times once it did arrive the jug was covered in what looked like soap. I was then told not so politely by a waiter that it was wax. Not that it mattered but the principle was that it looked gross and I wanted to know what it was.An hour and a half later starters arrived (only decent part of the meal) and my side order came with it which was supposed to come with my main. When our mains did finally come out another side order never turned up and my main was not very nice at all. I have always loved the food here so I was beyond disappointed. I think what made the evening worse was watching all the other couples around us being ignored or waiting forever to be served with people even walking out.We couldn't be bothered to wait for a pudding or cocktail(which was part of the deal) so we left.The staff were doing their best to manage the situation but it had gotten totally out of control. We were offered an apology from the youngest server who we complained to and we felt bad to do it but we wanted to make sure the owner/manager understood that if you cant manage the number of bookings properly dont take them.I wont be going back now as the food was not how I remembered it and wasnt worth the wait.

We booked here on a groupon deal. We waited 50 minutes for our first drink. We finally received it after the waiter had to make it himself! The food was very slow in coming out but adequate. I had octopus to start and all i could taste was oregano. We allowed 3 hours for the meal and ended up having dessert to go as we had to get the train. The only positive was the service from Melissa and Ewan (sorry about the spelling) they were amazing. Very stressed but couldn't have done more.

We passed Mythos by chance during a weekend stay nearby and knew we had to go back! We were lucky enough to spot a groupon deal and book for the following night. The service was friendly and speedy and the social distancing restrictions were adhered to at all times. The decor was fab - just like a Greek Taverna, as was the food! I had plenty of choice as a vegetarian (and definitely recommend the saganaki!) while my husband said his souvlaki was the best he’s had outside Greece. A few of the cocktails on the menu weren’t available but the waitress made us some tasty gin cocktails that more than made up for it! For the Groupon price we paid this was an impecable deal but would still have been good value at full price.

The restaurant looked lovely. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing. Would definitely recommend. Bought a deal through groupon which was really well priced.

After purchasing a groupon deal we took my mum here tonight for her 50th birthday. The food was very nice. Menu was not limited, only thing they didn’t have was cocktails but everything else was available. The waitress who served us took it upon herself to come out with my mums dessert and sing happy birthday which we thought was loverly. Would visit again and would highly recommend to others! Loverly food and loverly staff.

Although the restaurant is open again they are only offering a reduced menu and nothing like the one on their web site. I suggest if you are considering eating there you phone them first!

We had a great evening here with family. The staff were so pleasant and helpful and the food was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.

We visited the local area from Norfolk and were looking for a Greek restaurant to satisfy our cravings due to not travelling abroad this summer. The Mythos was truly stunning. The interior is modern yet traditional taverna style with lots of attention to detail and the staff welcoming and friendly. We had a meat Meze for two and had tzatziki, humous, pork and pepper casserole and village sausage to start with pitta bread, all delicious. For main we had a platter of pork and chicken souvlaki, sausage and fries. The meatballs had been popular so werewolf unavailable so the chef substituted instead halloumi skewers with pepper and balsamic vinegar which were lovely. There was a large portion of moussaka to share, this was gorgeous, moussaka is my favourite Greek dish. Plus a Greek salad. We took home baklava to share. The meal was part of the August eat out to help out so we got a hefty discount but wasn’t needed as would happily have paid full price for the meal. Staff were wearing masks at all times and cleaning high trafficked and touched areas which made us feel safe. If we return to this area again we would love to come back here for another meal. P.s. there was free parking available in a car park 2 mins away :)

Wonderful welcome. Fully booked but managed to accommodate us in bar on first night of reopening. Excellent food and really friendly staff. Had a fantastic time - thank you so much for a lovely start to our holiday.

Fancied a takeaway treat whilst self-isolating. Pleased to see that Mythos are now offering a takeaway menu. Had souvlaki and chips it was very yummy,yummy,yummy. Well done Mythos I'll be back for more.

We all enjoyed our food which was served by a cheerful gent who obviously knew his job . However on arrival we were greeted by a very miserable , rude bar person who had no clue of the cocktail menu & how to make them .... nor did she care . Lots of the spirits needed, they had run out of .... 4 choices later we ended up with one that still wasn't complete!!!! At the end of the evening we ordered coffee but the coffee machine had apparently broken .

Really delicious food but service was just a little bit slow. It’s quite an authentic place for greek food.

We visited at the weekend and did the Groupon deal which is great value at £40 for 2 people for a starter, main, dessert, glass of wine and cocktail per person.The food is really tasty. The chips are delicious. The salmon was very large and tasted good but there were some bones.The breads and dips were lovely. Cheesecake dessert was extremely good but the Eton mess style pudding lacked meringue and was mostly just cream.Cocktails were fabulous. The strawberry daiquiri was just like a holiday cocktail. The house rose was not so good.I really liked the authentic decor and Greek music.The only let down was the service. It is mainly young students who lack knowledge of the menu and were quite slow. For example, our waiter was unable to tell us what taramasalata is and could only tell me it is a ‘pink dip’. When we asked for a garlic mayonnaise, the waiter also insisted that tzatziki is garlic mayonnaise, which of course it isn’t. The waiter also lacked knowledge of the wines and thought all the house wines were sparkling (which they weren’t), and struggled with basic questions about the wine. Overall I would recommend the restaurant and would definitely visit again. I think the younger staff members would benefit from some additional training as I’m sure they are keen to provide a good service but at the minute some are struggling to.

Went for a Greek lunch, the starter and main meal were great, also the staff were brillant we will definitely return.

We had gone for Valentine’s Day and had not been notified when booking that there was a set menu, at £65 for two this was quite a surprise. Had been looking forward to experiencing a few of the smaller dishes from the standard menu but this was not to be. Thankfully the food made up for it albeit it was slightly cold. Won’t be in a rush to head back but don’t let this put you off as I feel it has a lot to offer on a standard evening.

Had a wow her gift for Xmas off my wife for a 3 course meal with a complimentary cocktail and a glass of Prosecco. Read a few reviews before going that weren't great. However, I like to make my own mind up and not rely on reviews! We attended on a Friday night, it was quiet and the staff were very attentive, shown to our table with drinks, and given the menu. All I can say is wow, what a meal, haven't enjoyed a meal so much in a long long time. The food was awesome, the atmosphere when the place started to fill up was lovely. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

A new venue for us but will definitely be going again. The food was delicious, all freshly prepared and served with a smile. Helpful advice from Nick, the waiter. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

A surprise birthday dinner for my beautiful Daughter in Law. A Groupon offer so no clear expectations. The wonderful photographs are never as good in reality, but this was. It was amazing from the from the front door to the toilets. A Greek fantasy of exceptional decor and warmth. The food was amazing and very varied. We all had to try each others choices. Superb presentation. Excellent service we couldn't have been made more welcome. It was quiet and we could not think why. Perhaps the early closing hour of 10pm. Well worth a visit. We will be going back with our other son and daughter in law. Soon I hope.

We visited on a tuesday night. There were only two other people in the huge space and only 2 staff. Service was lacklustre as ws the food. Moussaka ordered by 2 was only just warm and obviously moicrowaved. Wine was only average. Would not go again.

We returned to mythos last night as a large party 0f 22 and it was a total disaster .

After visiting the bar with a group of friends on a golfing trip to the town we found the atmosphere and environment just what we were looking for and it seemed to be the only place open after 1 in the town. However after two gentleman got in to an argument near the bar, a case of mistaken identity by bar staff meant that I was asked to leave the bar even though I was not with the other party and was just waiting next to them to be served at the bar. This would of been justifiable as the bar was very busy, however after being asked to step outside the bouncers explained that they knew it wasn’t me but couldn’t let me back in as ‘they had to be seen to be doing something’ which was ridiculous. All of our party then left and it put a dampener on the end of our night. I just found it insulting that the guilty party were left to enjoy their night whilst I was asked to leave even though I was just stood next to them, and the bouncers already said they knew I wasn’t in the wrong from my demeanour. Back at our hotel the staff said that it happens all the time in that place and there’s always bad service and complaints about the bouncing and bar staff and their attitude. Basically don’t go if you mind your own business and wait patiently for a drink, seems like they only serve drunken yobs, the rest get chucked out!

We would like to thank Sarah and Sakis for a lovely memorable day, the venue was laid out beautifully the food as always was excellent they hired a band called brothers blue we all danced the night away they were brilliant. it’s the perfect place for a small intimate wedding

Maybe im getting old but im sure as a youngster i didnt like having to wade through a crowd to get near the bar to be completely ignored for 10 mins and when i did get served i got a hostile look as i only wanted 1 beer change slammed down on counter and walked to next poor customer and scowled at him too miserable staff rammed to maximum capacity and probably more

My wife and I attended recently and were very disappointed. The appetizers (halloumi and hummus) were good but downhill from there.

Mythos is like football, game of two halves!! The downstairs bar area is not very inviting and on entering we almost turned around and walked out. However we were immediately greeted by the friendly waitress and taken upstairs to the dining area which is very attractive and with a Greek flavour atmospheric. The menu is fairly extensive with ample choice and reasonable prices. The food that we had tasted very good. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening in this pleasant restaurant and may well return in the future.

Ate here with friends. Pleasant service, and a menu that suited the whole party. I chose the meatfalls - delicious - the start, and then prawns on rocket salad for the main course. I have never seen such huge prawns - nor been faced with the task of eating so many. In the end I was trying to give them away to my friends because I was so full. Very good value meal. BUT, and it is a big but, the Pinot Grigio wine was tepid. I'll admit I don't much like Pinot Grigio; having it correctly chilled would at least have made it drinkable. We were given an ice bucket, but it takes time to chill a bottle...

As a chef who has visited Greece on many occasions I can confirm that the food in this restaurant is authentic and absolutely delicious. We ate here two nights on a row for the two nights we stayed in Chepstow because it was so good. Recommend the meat mezze. Everything is home made, beautiful!! I won't eat anywhere else anytime I am near Chepstow. Thank you Mythos.

After asking a friend to meet me at this restaurant where neither of us had been before my initial thoughts on entering on the ground floor was of shock at how dirty the walls, floors and furniture looked. The restaurant is on the second floor and this area in the dimmed lighting seemed OK. The food was disappointing as the chicken on skewers was very dry and lacking flavour, the halloumi cheese was overcooked and also dry...this is not Greek cooking at its best.

Called for drinks on a busy Saturday night. Lots of chaos in the bar and some had to be ejected. Bouncers in control until outside.

Popped in here for a bit of a late lunch and was amazed by the quality of the food - it was good at its finest - fresh bread, Greek salad to die for and moussaka was simply amazing would definitely recommend and will definitely be coming back

Visting Chepstow on route to the festival.

We were delighted to find a Greek restaurant in Chepstow, but we were unprepared for the incredible quality of our meal - absolutely delicious food, first-class service and a wonderful atmosphere. We were disappointed that we discovered this gem on our last day here rather than our first! We'll be back next time we're in Chepstow.

Me and my partner absolutely love Mythos! The food is authentic and clearly all freshly made, the interior is beautiful and the staff are always very friendly. We have visited Mythos plenty of times and we have never left disappointed.

We stumbled into this gem and were not disappointed. The chef is Greek and only uses fresh ingredients. The food was fantastic, and so was the service. We loved the decor too. Highly recommended!

We visited here as soon as it opened on a Friday night. They were preparing for a special event but were still attentive to us. We ordered squid and meatballs to start, the meatballs were particularly good. We both ordered fillet steak for main courses not because we don't like Greek food which is awesome but we just hadn't had steak in ages. The steaks were beautiful and served with oregano covered chips which I really enjoyed. The menu is impressive and I would have no problem returning there in future.

A friend and I were staying in Chepstow for the weekend and were looking for a place to have dinner that had a nice atmosphere but wasn't too expensive. We stumbled across Mythos but assumed it would be high-end as the decor was so impressive, fortunately they had a menu outside and we agreed the prices were very reasonable. We ordered a stuffed red pepper, and halloumi salad to start- very authentic and delicious! Followed by Greek 'souvlaki' for main (£12.50ish), which was generously sized and tasty. The decor, music, service and ambience was 10/10! Don't be fooled, we arrived at 7pm on a Saturday night and the place was empty, but by the time we left it was full!!

My fiancé and I visited this restaurant last night as we hadn’t been to a Greek restaurant before. He can be quite a fussy eater yet he found lots which appealed to him and I am very easy going and was wowed by the amount of dishes on offer.

Quiet in downstairs bar but better atmosphere in upstairs restaurant. Waitress was friendly but when we asked for a bottle of retsina she brought us some red wine , which was changed without complaint. My requested starter was then unavailable, as .were two similar starters but my 4th. choice was actually ok. However, my Kleftico bore little resemblance to those I have had many times in Cyprus, though was fairly tasty. So I was far from impressed, though I should add that both my companions were quite pleased with their fish meze.

It is remarkable that this big place has been made so welcoming and well decorated! It is very atmospheric. The food was fine, nothing special (we had meze). The service though was very slow, but to give them their due the staff were most apologetic and cut our bill to recompense.

We had a table for 6 which was pre-booked. The waitress took our drink orders, I asked for Peroni which was on the drink menu but there was no Peroni. Another asked for Guinness, which was on the menu but they didn't have Guinness. (This was a trend was going to continue into the food order)

Haven’t been for nearly 6 years & Visited yesterday evening for NYE , having being told there was a Greek night/ three course meal with free glass of proseco ticket event £35pp .... well the restaurant & downstairs was literally empty until around 11pm.

Popped in early evening, midweek, for a meal with a friend. Place was deserted when we arrived; however, the waiter was very helpful and courteous, and he kindly opened up the upstairs area for us to sit it. It is nicely decorated with a pleasant feel.

We visited Mythos in the evening. The restaurant has been quiet. Inside it is nicely styled. Our waiter entertained us for the evening. He was very professional and helpful. The food was great and there was plants on the plates. I would recommend and visit this place again.

We've eaten here many times in the past, but something is not quite right at the moment. We've always enjoyed the food and hence it was a first choice last weekend but the standard has dropped.

I found myself out and about in Chepstow looking for a bite to eat. Myself and my friend decided to try the Meze Bar , the place looks great and the staff were really friendly and offered good customer service.

So I nave usually leave a review unless I have something good to say but this time I am making an exception. Where to start. The restaurant is nicely decorated and should have a very good ambience, however the lack of customers in the restaurant upstairs and in the lovely bar down stairs means this doesn't happen. As this was Saturday night. There were 7 tables in all in the 2 hours we were there. 4 waitresses for 7 tables. We ordered the fish meze and the quantity of food was excellent. However we ordered 'home made bread and olives' to come first. No, came with the first course of the meze and because they had got it wrong the Pitta bread from a packet was heated in a hurry and was burnt to black on a couple of pieces. The fish skewers were overcooked and dry to the point of being singed. The salad was not dressed in olive oil and lemon, it was drowned in olive oil so every leaf and part of it was a soaked oily mess. We have eaten a lot in Greece and this is not the way it should be. I had to ask for some ice to cool the very mediocre Pino white wine was that the only house wine available by the glass. House wines are now usually very good. I can home with indigestion, something I don't suffer with.

Really nice restaurant. We ended there as could not be fussed with pub lunch. On going in the restaurant looked empty. Which can be worrying. But having ordered the meze.. i tell you we were pleasantly surprised. Food was delicious and price was good too. So if you are round chepstow and fancy greek food get ypur butt in there. Cause is worth it. And staff was friendly too

You feel you've gone back to Greece as soon as you step inside Mythos, the decor is lovely and bright. We had the most amazing lamb chops will definately be back to eat there soon, highly recommended.

We ate here on Friday evening. The setting was rustic aand pretty, the staff helpful and friendly. The menu was clearly marked with what was gluten free and there was plenty to choose from ! I settled on olives to start followed by kleftiko, which was very tasty. One to recommend !

We had visited before and had an all-round good time but this visit was very different - the service had gone down significantly and the food was only average at best. Supposedly the lengthy waits for our starters and mains was due to how busy they were but at best the restaurant was 50% full - and only half that when we asked for the desert menu which never operated. ‘Customer service’ was apparently an extra that wasn’t on the menu so we only got resentment when we expressed disappointment.

Staff less than friendly. I ordered cheese flamed in ouzo for my starter, which tasted like a smelly flip flop. No garnish, just a slap of breaded cheese on a plate-awful. Had mixed grill for main course, this was ok, good flavours, over seasoned fries, all they tasted of was herbs. Ordered Mythos mess for desert, had to send it back, no strawberries or raspberries in it as stated, just cream and tiny bit of meringue. Had strawberry cheesecake in its place which was very good. Overall very pricey for what you get. Won’t be returning.

Went as a large party, mixed results of the food. Starters were good but some mains not so. Food a little bland, slow cooked veg (pre ordered for a veggie) was raw, chicken over cooked and steaks dry. Proberbly had our hopes too high and comparing with meals on our Greek holiday. Staff did not check at anytime if all ok. Lovely building so expected amazing food.

Amazing service. Waiter deffo deserved his tip. Super helpful and great recomedations. The octopus was superb. They cocktails were fantastic and all the food was delicious. I will 100% be coming back.

Thought my wife and I would give this restaurant a visit and we were glad we did. Very nice traditional Greek cuisine, supported by a very friendly restaurant team. Everything about the place makes you feel you are on holiday. Reasonably priced and a good dining experience. Our only negative comment was the dessert ‘Mythos Mess’ which I thought was a total waste of money and a bit of a rip off. Putting a load of cream in a dessert dish with a few dried fruit pieces is quite frankly poor. (I honestly thought the chef forgot to put some ingredients in ie meringue!).

Ate here on a Thursday evening, it was not busy, but the food was lovely. It is so unusual to find Greek restaurants in the UK so a real bonus for me! I can imagine this place when full has a superb atmosphere.

Our first night in Wales and this is where we found in the town of Chepstow. Nicely remodeled, keeping touches of the history of the area.

Meze gives a good mix of food to try; some dishes better than others. Very quiet when we visited, but service still quite slow. Decor quite nice. Not a bad choice.

Quiet on a Tuesday evening, but welcoming. Decent selection of meat and fish Meze. Mythos beer as recommended by someone very good. A very nice meal altogether.

Glad we spotted this restaurant. Decked out with Greek theme. Clean restaurant with friendly staff and food was very good. Served quickly though it was not too busy. Food arrived after a short time and tasted like Mediterranean food should. Food hygiene certificate was on full view on the door and was rated 4 in case anyone wondered!

Excellent, authentic food from a chef who knows what he is doing. A busy restaurant on a Saturday night, so service was understandably slow - but worth the wait. And they have Mythos Beer; what more could you ask for.

Great authentic, fresh and tasty food. Had the lunch specials which were really good value for money (prices for everything is cheap). The pita wrap and souvlaki were fab and the owner who served us was really friendly. Can't wait to eat here again!
