Visited for lunch today. Fabulous meal and great service. Obviously a popular place as there seemed to be a lot of regulars eating there. Had Gammon, then Kit Kat Cheesecake and a cup of tea. £8.50. Fabulous value and will definitely visit again.

Booked for lunch. Been to this brilliant pub restaurant several times before, knew exactly what to expect and were not disappointed. The food is no-frills, generous and tasty. Nouvelle cuisine it isn't, thank goodness. Boss had roast turkey with roast tates and perfectly cooked veggies with some bite left in them. I had the chicken curry with rice and chips - super curry with tomatoes and lots of onion, hint of sweetness and spices, and a pint to wash it all down. Both had puddings (big piles of calories covered with pouring cream) and very nice too. £18 the lot. The Musicians Arms is friendly and cheery and a reminder that buried under all the lunacies that government, politicians, the media, activists, political correctness, the BBC and other numbskulls can unload onto us, there are yet places left where people are decent, life can still be a joy, and a sense of Englishness lives on.

Went for Sunday lunch while staying with my parents, who have been before. It is a good Sunday roast, choice of three meats (tell them when you call to book if you want lamb) with various delicious desserts (I had crumble with custard). The owner/chef came out to say Hello, and explained their booking were lower though this was not unexpected. The owner said tha switching to takeaway would be easy for them, which is to be applauded at this time. Tasty comfort food.

The Musician's Arms is an experience. Fabulous food like your mother would have cooked - an amazing plate of food. I had steak pie (suet pastry!), mash, veg and gravy, with KitKat cheesecake to follow. Sensational. We loved it, and will be back. Difficult to avoid walking out of here without a huge grin on your face. The food and the people just make it happen. Forget nouvelle cuisine, get yourself here for a stonking lunch.

Another Sunday lunch without fault. We eat here regular and find the quality and quantity outstanding and without complaint. Today was no exception. My wife and I both had lamb and it was superb. I couldn't refuse my regular choice of desert (apple crumble and custard) and my wife opted for kit kat cheese cake. She was too full to finish hers but i was all too happy to help her with it. Delicious as ever. Always a warm welcome for customers new and old alike.

You will travel a long way to find a good value for money lunch to rival this one. Delicious food with a choice of roast meats, plenty of veg, roast and mash potatoes, stuffing and Yorkshire pudding. To follow they have mostly home made deserts to die for with a choice of fresh cream, squirty cream or custard to accompany your vast choice. Plenty to choose from and a cup of tea or coffee to follow all for the bargain price of £8:50. Friendly staff, great banter with a warm welcome. 2 sittings on Sunday but still advisable to book.

If you want home cooked food and great value, look no further. The beef is like Grandmother used to cook and the steak pie is unbeleivable as are all the menu options. These are proper meals with proper vegetables. It is very popular so advisable to book at least for Sunday's. Service is speedy and most unusually the place is consistent so you know what to expect every time you go and I am lucky enough to live near enough to take full advantage of this excellent place. It doesn't try to be "hip" just solid, good and reliable. The landlord is a real card as well! John. Woodhall Spa. You feel very welcome and your custom is clearly valued.

I’ve written a few reviews about this place over the years and after eating here on Saturday thought it deserved another. The price of £8.50 is amazing value for the main, dessert and coffee. Staff are always polite and go out of there way to make you feel welcome and looked after. It was a hard decision to decide on my main but I do love the home made onion rings so I decide on the gammon, with my mate having the fish and homemade chips. I’ve attached pictures as they defo say far more about the amazing quality of the food you get than I can try and capture in words. For desert I picked the homemade cheese cake. Truly amazing.

We went in for lunch today and wow what a disappointment. We walked in the bar/lounge area and wanted to get a drink. To start off we only had the choice of with 3 beers on tap, and not good beers either. After that we went through to the restaurant with chains hanging over the doors which nearly knocked our drinks over, its like walking through to a conservatory. As we walked through we saw the kitchen on one side and the bar on the other with also chains hanging over the door ways. We then arrived to the restaurant and it looked like we were walking into an old people’s home. No music, awful decoration and we felt like we were visiting some ancient relatives. We sat down and placed our order to then realise our food was out within 2/3 minutes. Now for me that is far too quick, it seemed rushed and they just plated up pre cooked food and sent it out. The food came out and it looked sloppy, the mash was more like smash. The Yorkshire puddings where bought in which is a disgrace. Yorkshire puddings are supposed to be home made all the time. The vegetables tasted like they were out of a tin; bland and watery. The meat fell apart but was awfully dry. We all coated out meat in gravy but couldn’t save it! The roast potatoes weren’t roasted properly they tasted boiled and then shoved in the oven for 10 minutes, they were awful and you cannot call them proper roasted potatoes. We never complain because we find it rude and it gives off a bad atmosphere for other customers that surprisingly maybe enjoying it. We then had dessert which actually was half decent but we were given a grape cut in half and the tiniest cut of orange, it was like they were rationing it for ww2 still, which would suit the average age of the customers.

We ordered straight away then there was a long delay before our meals were served. 3 of us had steak which was so tough I didn't think I would be able to chew it and had to cut it up into very small pieces. Mother had fish and chips which were inedible so she left most of her birthday meal. Then we had desserts. Mother and another guest had apple crumble which was so hard it was also inedible. This place is just from another dimension, its more like a transport cafe than a pub, very cheap, very tacky, and with no atmosphere at all, the food is on a par with a supermarket cafe, but with added 'service' from the Diana Dors like waitress/manager. We finished our meals at approx 8.00pm and fancied a drink in the bar, only to be told it was shutting, on a Saturday night! As already mentioned, this place is like a comedy sketch about naff eating in the 1970's.

Been there for Sunday lunch two or three times, home prepared and cooked food, generally a choice of turkey, lamb or beef with all the trimmings together with a choice of puddings ranging from ice cream, home made cheese cakes through to hot puddings with custard. When you consider the price, two courses plus coffee for £6:50 its amazing value, the only downside is that the restaurant feels a little cafe wish which is why I have only rated it 4 star but if your looking for quality food at a reasonable price I don't think you will be disappointed. You do need to book though, especially for Sunday lunch.Oh and as has been said I have never seen a fly in the place.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

This restaurant opens for two sittings, one for lunch and one for early dinner, finishing before 7pm and anyone that has visited during these times will know that it is packed most days and booking is advised. The food is all genuine home made fare, with generous portions of fresh vegetables and is very reasonably priced as the fixed price includes main, dessert and tea/coffee.The staff are friendly and the meals we have had there have been good, I can recommend the chicken pie especially. The layout and lighting are the only bad points, don't let this put you off as it is well worth it for a home cooked meal. The previous reviewer mentioned notices about flies but this is an agricultural area and anyone living in this part of the country knows how bad the flies have been this year, on two visits we have not seen one fly inside so their efforts must be working.

This is my second visit to Henderson’s Cocoa House and it is lovely. I went for a chocolate milkshake this time but would also recommend the hot chocolates which are much better than the competitors’!

As spotless as ever. The prices still haven't risen and a really nice, well cooked breakfast with tea or coffee is still only a fiver! Can't fault the place.
