Mushtaqs in South Lanarkshire

Had a takeaway last night, our family has always ordered from Mushtaqs since day one. The food was lovely and delivery was on time, I’d definitely recommend.

Enjoyed my take away. Garlic chilli chicken was delicious. I think I've found a new favourite Indian food place!

Been a regular at this takeaway for years but tonight is my last order. The tandoori chicken is disgusting. Has been nowhere near a tandoori oven, is rubbery and all pieces cut open as if to check cooked. Pakora was the same. Was giving it a chance since it was taken over but the last 3 orders have been awful. Plenty of better choices around

The food is ALWAYS Late! 1 hour late last night. Partial refund refused. Customer service is appalling. We obviously will not be back.

Ordered chicken tikka meal with korma sauce it arrived and tasted sauce this tasted like they had dropped tub of salt in sauce they sent another I thought this will be ok put it over my meal and the taste of salt was so overpowering making the full meal inedible worse meal I have ever had will not be ordering again

Quick delivery, bad food. We have been in Hamilton for a year now and have never ordered from Mushtaqs due to how expensive it is. But it’s Christmas Eve,why not? We had the traditional curry and it was watery and tasteless ,other chicken we had was tough. Cannot put into words how dissatisfied we are, this was really sad for £30+ order . Never again .

Phoned for a takeaway. Was at the house within 15 mins. Obviously. Disgusting. Will never order from here again!!

Used to love the food however since being bought over they have changed everything down to the pakora sauce the dinner we ordered tonight was so disappointing! Food was 15late after the estimated the delivery time, food was room temp. The alu tiki didn’t taste right think they have changed the batter. The mixed starter was so dry couldn’t eat most of it. The loaded fries had the wrong sauce and it tasted like coming from a jar was so disappointing and it doesn’t help the price is so high!

Tried the loaded fries and they were 10/10, curry was great, naan was soft and fresh, we’re Mushtaqs regulars and we will be back again next week!

We've loved Mushtaqs for over 10yrs but the new owners have ruined it 😔 food has suddenly became a lot smaller (eg garlic naan), mixed pakora doesn't include mushroom now (even though it states it will on their menu) and curry has barely any chicken. Also, very fed up of being put on hold every time I call without an apology or thanks - the girl on the phone urgently needs a lesson in customer service. And the new owners definitely don't offer the previous 15min guaranteed delivery as seems to take 40mins onwards nowadays. Such a waste of a great restaurant

This place is no longer like it used to be the Currys are bland and the amount of chicken has not only reduced but the quality is almost processed, we have been going for here since his Dad had the restaurant in the 1990s , they are simply trading on the name think twice and try elsewhere

Pakora was tough, some of it inedible, not fresh, likely reheated, also very salty. Curry was quite watery. Standards have definitely slipped here unfortunately.

Won’t order again, received a notification food was on its way and then it doesn’t turn up for another 40 mins. To then open the loaded fries which were cold in a soggy cardboard box. Chicken tikka pieces were not your usual tandoori grilled chicken and didn’t taste great. The pakora, sauce and rice were the only parts of the meal that tasted okay. Not one to ever make a bad review but not ideal when you spend £30 on a delivery!

Chicken pakora was far too salty, I mean inedible due to how much salt was on it! Ordered chicken chat but got spicy chicken wings which were ok but was expecting tandoori drumsticks. Lamb curry, chicken tikka korma was good

We had food delivered and it was very disappointing. The rice was grey, supposed to be pilau! The chicken dish was rubbish and the garlic naan went straight in the bin. All in all it wasn’t up to scratch and most certainly ruined our night.

This place has gone down the pan. Always travelled from east kilbride to go here. Third time now, since new owners, we have ordered and either found hair in our food or, as today, had teeny tiny portions. One lamb curry= four tiny bits of lamb. Contacted twice before about hair in food and they didn't get back. Don't waste your money here,now.

Got this for the first time, delivered quickly but I didn't really think it was worth the money. Not my favorite.

Food was cold Nan was so cold so couldn't earth it. Had to warm the curry and the rice. Very disappointing

there was no indication of delayed delivery until we contacted, at which point we were informed it would be later

Visited and had their £16.95 set menu, the curries were absolute delicious and you get so much food we had to take a doggy bag home

First time ordering and to be honest wish I hadn't, chips are frozen chips cold on delivery and both curry's had way to much oil,... First and last experience ever!! £25.00 for a tub of korma a tub of tikka misla and a small bag of chips (frozen not fresh) both curries full of oil.. disgusting.. if I could put 0 star I would, do not waste your time folkes not worth it. Called up to complain and ended up with a argument over we how much did you eat.. lack of customer service .. took pictures of said food .. never ever again would I order from this place ...

Me & hubby sat in for a quick meal. Food was exactly as requested...1 curry very mild. Very delicious curries, rice & naan. Service was perfect & manager, Ali, made a point of having a friendly conversation. Restaurant side of business had just opened so it was quiet but am sure when its busy the atmosphere would be great. Highly recommend for sit in or takeaway as food is proper delicious. Will definitely be going back when we come down to Glasgow.

Inflated just eat prices are a joke. Usual meal from her costs £20. I got a £20 gift voucher so thought quids in here. Turns out cause of just eats inflated prices WITHOUT delivery, a free meal cost me £8.. Get a grip. Avoid go direct.

Not impressed with this resteraunt at all . Rice was awful and not the best experience . Had a poor takeaway months back but gave another chance . Won't be using this resteraunt again

Food utterly freezing, inedible on arrival. Called the restaurant and spoke to person who took my details and said he would speak to his manager and call me back in 5 mins. No further contact! Pretty abysmal to pay £20+ for only a curry and naan without rice and get this. embarrassing tbh

Wee eat chicken tikka chasni all the time very disapointed was more gingery like sweet and sour than chasni was yellow in colour not very nice wee will not be ordering again ours got binned after couple mouthfuls.

Ok i have been a regular for over 10 years and yes had some small issues here and there but in the whole always loved the food , i have been a bit weary since change of ownership , just got my takeaway tonight and the food is just amazing , dont get some of the negative reviews !! Spoke to one of the new men tonight who put my mind at rest regarding the food being as good as always , just had it and omg it is second to none , i hope the new owners realise the loyalty alot of people have and glad also to see the sit in opened again , fingers crossed for selfish reasons cause i love the food , good luck and im looking forwardcto a wee sit in soon

Amazing as always excellent deal with 2 for 1 main meals when ordering takeaway over phone. Chicken tikka korma was delicious, never had a bad meal or issue here, highly recommend.

We moved away 8 years ago and always had Mushtaqs before we moved. We live somewhere with multi award winning curry restaurants but every time we ordered I have dreamed of having Mushtaqs again. Well today is that day and let me tell you, it was worth the wait..the food is EVERY bit as amazing as i remember it being. Buffet starter was superb and my lamb garlic chilli is just brilliant. The portion size would do for 2 meals they are so generous. One mouthful and i was back to the day we first tried it. Absolutely love Mushtaqs food and so sad we dont live in the area now. I would recommend food from Mushtaqs over ANY curry ive had in the past- and that includes all the world famous restaurants in Glasgow. One very happy, full big boy this evening. Try Mushtaqs and you will not be disappointed Superb .

Just placed my first order for take away at this establishment and totally regret it. The food arrived quickly but I have never had an Indian curry that looked and tasted of nothing bland looked more like a Chinese than an Indian. Won’t be ordering from here again.

Can I just start by saying that I am a fan of this place and enjoy some of the curries very much. However, last night, 3/6/23, was simply too much to contend with in terms of customer service. My partner and I ordered two curries, a nan, pakora and a bottle of juice. After waiting for a good hour and a half for our food to be delivered we decided to phone and ask what was going on. During the phone call we were told that they didn’t know what had happened to the delivery and that they would send us out a fresh one. 10 minutes later we get a phone call. This is when our jaws hit the deck. The girl on the phone told us that the order had been delivered ( so the delivery driver said so) and basically that they didn’t know what to do! My partner then really started to lose the plot at this point, as we had been sitting in our living room for the entirety of the 2 hours since we had placed the order. It was then that they basically accused my partner of telling lies and that we had fabricated the whole thing!! As if we would eat all that and then phone to pretend we hadn’t had our delivery. Seriously! After my partner asked for a refund, she was told that they would have to phone the manager and get back to us. This is when I lost my composure and started shouting that I would phone the police if our money wasn’t returned as we had basically been robbed. After driving down to the establishment, our money was returned, but not an explanation was given for our ordeal in simply trying to have our dinner. My theory is that because it was a large order, the delivery driver has given it away to friend or family and told a pack of lies in saying that they ordered the food. Absolute disgrace in terms of how the treat the customer!! And for good measure the girl on the phone seemed to find the whole situation amusing. It wouldn’t be that if we had went in to the restaurant and just lifted 30 quid out the till. Just lucky the situation was resolved before police became involved!

Got take out well where do you start the chicken pakora & allo tikka are reheats defo not fresh poor quality food & cold. Phoned no answer sent 2 messages no reply poor cutomer service wont be back

No Way! There’s something terribly wrong with the chef. You dare call it as PROPER INDIAN FOOD ? No way! What a blunder! I ordered Garlic Chilli Chicken and they certainly made a blunder, can’t blame them being a Monday when all good restaurants are closed, I had very limited options so thought of trying Mushtaq’s and for sure we are not returning back to them. Guys pl for god sake, stick to what you say.

Shocking customer service. Very poor attitude from counter staff £45 between the pizza takeaway in the same location. Food was cold asked to make it fresh. Attempted to pass us to same meal put on a hotplate. Witnessed several wrong orders when i was there.

Our family had been loyal customers for years. We ordered from here at least once a week. The quality standard has been going down hill for a while but we still remained loyal to the business despite not receiving the standards we would expect but last night was the last straw when we found a dead bluebottle fly in bedded in the chicken pakora batter. We are absolutely disgusted. The health and hygiene standard have clearly also dropped along with the quality. Very sad to say we won’t ever be back!!!

Interesting customer ratings. Mostly 5 star or 1 star. Quite extreme! We visited Mushtaqs years ago, drawn by the good publicity they were getting at the time. Some of the 1 star reviews published here reflect our experience. The different a la carte curries ordered tasted the same and really bland. We complained and if I remember, were offered a buffet replacement instead. No improvement - still poor. We were then offered vouchers to return. Fair enough, but as another customer said, why would you go back? Let’s have another bad meal. Yay! I remember driving home and thinking: “How did they get awards?” On the other hand, they’re still in business all these years later…

By far the best, most authentic Indian food in the area! The ingredients are fresh and the food is excellent. They have a very small menu which I always this is a good sign that the food is prepared fresh.

Having close Indian friends and eat regularly authentic indian food sadly to say this wasnt the nicest experience. Starters chicken chaat and pakora dry, sauce vinegary, popadums were nice but not what I paid over £45 for. Main meals lamb bhoona sauce tasted like gravy, chicken chasni whole chicken dry and the south garlic chilli was ok. Called the restaurant that evening said someone would call me back nothing. So I called today spoke to the manager who offered me vouchers for my next time which tbh why would I return. not even if it was free. I asked for half my money returned which he declined. if you have a bad experience do you return? Well in my case no sorry this restaurant take away was one of the worst I've ever encountered Sorry this review was done on a visit a few months ago Plus may I add the attitude of the manager was deplorable.

£80 for bland, tasteless chicken & lamb chasni with soggy chips and chicken pakora. Place is a rip off - they say its the "best quality" it's far from it.

Been wanting to try mustaqs for a while , wish I hadn't bothered . The twice cooked chips were soggy that was the ones that were left after I picked the bad ones out , the onion rings were soggy aswell and all stuck together. The fish was a tiny bit of frozen fish . The curry total rip off having to pay extra for any veg in it , I could have put raw onions in myself. Not the best £30 I've ever spent

Firstly I would say the food in Mushtaqs is good 7.5/10. But sadly they really let them selves down when it comes to charges. Used them several times before but noticed a hike in price last night so asked for a receipt. First thing I noticed is £1.00 price increase across the board this puts up your order by approximately £5.00 on a 5 item order. However I was astonished to discover a £0.50 admin fee charged on the bill. Come on Mushtaqs an admin fee to take a food order especially during this pandemic, Weekend takeaway is the only treat people are getting due to lockdown and your taking advantage of the situation by hitting people with a back door charge to up the profit margins. Well I have deleted your number and won’t return. Well done guys you played a blinder.

If I could leave a 0 star review I would. Placed a substantial order, got home to realise they had given us chicken instead of prawns. A simple mistake made by the operator, who confirmed with us whilst ordering the prawns were not included in their meal deal offer so we knew we ordered the right thing - also considering my mum is VEGETARIAN. Call the shop and speak to the most arrogant person ever who says they can put another one on for us but we would have to pay another 18 pound. Why would we order a chicken meal for a vegetarian 🤣 honestly no regard for customer service and they are reluctant to admit they are wrong. Good luck if you are owed a refund cause you won’t get it. “Support small businesses during a pandemic” yet they don’t consider this is a treat for families on a low income who can’t afford to pay for their mistakes. Avoid!!!!

This used to be easily the best curries in Hamilton! Just had my 2nd bad takeaway from them in a row! Korma wasn’t great and the Chad I sauce has changed again! Some of the tikka was burnt even offered to sent them a photo but don’t think the girl answering the phone was bothered! Not going back now there are better curries out of some of the kebab shops in Hamilton now!

We ordered takeaway King Prawn Tandoori at over £11-00 pounds. The prawns arrived in a plastic container. Tandoori? Seriously? They were small, overcooked and tough - not worth eating. The other dishes were bland - Lamb Bhuna- lamb was tender but sauce was bland and heavy - Chicken Karachi was probably the best of the order, but just alright - nothing special. The pakora was tasteless and the veg content claggy and the one carton of sauce watery and had no flavour. The rice was odd looking but acceptable. The Naan was flat, hadn't risen and was undercooked. Decidedly a waste of money Best part of £40-00 pounds. If you advertise that you have a clay oven then the expectation is high. You cannot use poor quality prawns and get a good result. The whole delivery was nothing like the expectation. I would never consider using this restaurant again.

Amazing food delivery last night. We ordered a mix of dishes to share and weren’t disappointed....mixed pakora, sweet Nan, chicken and lamb main dishes. Great quality food and delivery under 30mins in midst of lockdown....brilliant!

First time we've had a takeaway from Mushtaqs although we have used the restaurant many many times.Delighted to say the quality of food for takeaway was top quality.Chicken chasni and chicken karahi totally fantatsic.Full of flavour no artifical colours and top notch meat.The pakora is the best I've ever had .I don't understand the recent bad reviews as we have never been let down by Mushtaqs.They are without doubt the finest Indian restaurant in the area and probably the country.I back this up by sayin I have eaten with them probably over 20 times and never once had any complaints.Great food and friendly helpful staff.

Mustaqs Hamilton is the worst Indian food I have tasted in 50 years. Avoid I would advise to go somewhere else.

A friend of mine has been trying to get a refund for an order that was inadvertently sent TWICE through the Just Eat App - they realised the duplication and contacted Mushtaqs and they managed to cancel the second order BUT Mushtaqs DIDN'T cancel the order with Just eat - in fact they allowed the order to show as "delivered" (even though it wasn't) which allowed them to pocket the cash from the second order that was never delivered . . . I call that despicable and I urge the restaurant to make amends immediately and contact Just Eat to tell them that the order was NOT delivered and that a full refund should be made! Very angry at this bare-faced theft!

Not for me this one. Well over cooked pilau rice delivered in a big soggy poly bag. Two equally soggy portions of chips ordered as sides. Nothing golden about them. Korma and bhuna were unremarkable. Expecting way better from well known business.

Raw chicken Chef refused to acknowledge potential food risk because "some bits were good" despite photos of undercooked food. Mistakes can be made in any kitchen but refusal to take responsibility for said mistakes means there will be a lack of complacency in future. Will not be eating here again and I advise you dont either

Was so disappointed with the food. I consider myself a loyal customer over the years. However the food was not worth the money and not as tasty as it usually is. Won't be back and wouldn't recommend them.

We ordered a takeaway due to having a long day and the prospect of cooking dinner was still a long way off. Well, the delivery arrived in super quick time, almost too quick. When I entered the kitchen at home there was a distinct lack of the wonderful aromas you associate with Indian food. Then on opening the buffet starter which consisted of soft, soggy, damp pakora, chicken tikka and chicken chat that had never been within 100m of a grill, never mind a tandoor, and the chicken was also soggy. The sauce that was served with this could not even mask how truly awful our starter was. Obviously after the starters we never had great expectations of what was to come, or would the mains redeem Mustaq's? I'm afraid not, as the chicken tikka main was as poor as the starter and the curry sauce it was served with was almost devoid of taste, and any taste at all was not nice. This though was a shadow of how bad their food can be, as the lamb bhuna neither looked or tasted like any lamb bhuna I'd ever eaten before. This lamb bhuna strangely had an underlying taste like and old kipper, distinctly fishy, absolutely revolting. The only edible parts of the meal were the pilau rice which did not even gain a pass mark, and the sweet naan which was the only thing in the meal to get pass marks.Well, needless to say that even though we were starving, there was a fair bit of food left. My wife said, well that's the first and last time I ever order food from there. But, it was so bad I had to phone and let them know. I told the girl that had taken our order how truly awful the food had been and asked to speak to a manager. I was asked to hold, and the girl returned to say she had informed the kitchen and I was told they only ever send our freshly cooked food (no way). I was then told she could only offer her sincere apologies, but that was it. Take about adding insult to injury.My advice if you are ever in Hamilton and are looking for an Indian meal, avoid this like the plague. In fact stay home and make yourself a sandwich, you'll be glad you did.This was truly the worst takeaway food I have ever eaten, in fact it was truly the worst meal I think I have ever eaten. Avoid at all costs!
