I honest to God don't even know how to begin my review such is thee excellence of this truly world class restaurant My friend and I booked a table at the last minute for 9pm and told we close at 10pm We arrived the staff were magic attentive caring genuine and just pure lovely Then the starters came the pakoras were that good and the sauces so incredible my pal and I shared I asked my friend what did you think of the pakora ? Thee best i have ever had and I so agree Then the curries came were so good I almost had unlimited orgasms! And the Nan breads were quite simply thee best i have ever ever tasted like ever! It was closing time we ordered drinks the Manager put us in a lovely table majestic We informed the staff we were waiting on a taxi and all the staff God Love Them waited till 10.40 pm until our taxi came Incredible Incredible pure brilliant World Class Service ! A special mention to the Manager pure shame I never asked for his name a sheer total complete and utter gentleman!! This is a World Class restaurant that surely ( pray to God ) is on route for a Michelin Award Absolutely magnificently amazingly fantastically brilliant! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I had an unreal curry here. I have never seen a naan so big! The staff here are very friendly and take great pride in what they do here. The feel around the place is great, a lovely place to enjoy a curry.

Held a corporate event in work 7th January. For 180 people...Bombay cottage did not disappoint. Dealt with the very efficient and knowledgable Sam ...Thanks Sam 😊 From start to finish he dealt with all of my questions in a polite and professional manner. He got the quantities spot on ! Quality and choice of food was fantastic. Delivery time ...which I changed was accomodatedy. All round amazing !! Thanks to all..And the lovely driver too. Alison.

Think the chef must have changed, the food Definitely isn't what it used to be , we have been going there for 15 yrs and nvr had and complaints, both our meals were watery and the garlic nan bread was that cold the butter just sat on top of if cold to , my daughter also had these problems on 27th Dec but was hoping it was a one off ,

I made this booking a couple of months ago and was looking forward to treating friends to a special meal. However it was a big disappointment the menu was similar to the everyday menu. The meals were excellent but not value for money. Although the restaurant was quiet the waiters put us under pressure to clear our plates before we had actually finished. The price was more than double of what you would normally pay but nan bread chapattis etc were still an additional cost.

£6.50 for a garlic naan. £8.25 chicken paroka for 6 tiny pieces.£5.25 for fried rice. Dirty robbers. Never coming back.

Was on last Thursday with my son and I’m in this place a lot , Had Masanda curry and by god it was class , My son had lamb tikka and said it was nice , The service was good as usual and the waitress was very attentive 10 out of 10. It was very very busy and they still don’t try and rush you so as always I will be back

1st visit and very impressed. Service wonderful and pleasant waiters who knew the dishes and able to give guidance. Lovely atmosphere, clear, excellent food and drink. Great parking space to the rear. Highly recommended.

First time visiting The Bombay Cottage. Choice of set menu or a la carte. Went for a la carte as had the dish that partner was wanting to try (I would have been happy with either of the fixed menus, as both had a good selection of curries etc). Food was absolutely amazing! I’ve been on holiday to India several times in the past and the food brought back memories. I read previous reviews about the staff and cannot disagree more! The staff we extremely polite, friendly and attentive. Overall, we were very impressed at this jewel hiding away in Hamilton. Will definitely be visiting again in the new year.

1st time been back in for over 5 year and won't be rushing back. Food portions where very small and even more worrying was spirit measures. Over 70 per person for 4 drinks, starter and main course...food was nice enough for value for money there's better around Hamilton

After recommendation we visited for lunch on Weds. 20th November 2024. The waiter, perhaps head waiter, was very impatient, bordering on rude, when asked questions or taking our order. We noted that his attitude was similar whilst dealing with staff. I find it very disconcerting to see staff being spoken to in a derogatory manner. The comments made could be overheard by diners. I can say we found the food to be mediocre at best. I feel this waiter's attitude should be brought to the attention of Bombay Cottage management in the hope that diners may enjoy a more pleasant experience and staff do not feel intimidated whilst at work. It is difficult to enjoy lunch whilst witnessing staff being treated unkindly.

Have visited the restaurant on several occasions and it never disappoints. The food was very good and the staff were polite and professional. Clearly a popular restaurant as it always busy

Amazing as ever, such good value with large portions and excellent service. Better to book in advance as really busy. There is free parking at the back but is usually busy.

This restaurant has a lovely setting in general the food was very nice how ever the atmosphere was terrible. My friend and I felt rushed to order drinks when we arrived the waiter possible head waiter was very rude when I said he had rushed away after taking our dinner order. When we wanted to add to our order again he was very rude and complained and shouted he was really busy. It was obvious he had no time for us. He then came back and said he now had another waiter starting and must have passed our table to him. He was a bit better otherwise I think we may have left. We also found he was very patronising and rude to his staff. So overall our experience was very disappointing and unenjoyable Please train your staff better and re- think your staffing structure. Lead by example. But for now I’m afraid we won’t be back.

From the moment you step in the service is excellent, staff are attentive and so lovely , tucking us in our chairs , putting napins on our laps . Food was the best my taste buds we’re dancing. Strawberry daiquiri amazing . We also got offered complimentary drinks .. place is amazing will defo be back xx

Authentic that is old school and old style Scottish Indian cuisine at its finest. The type of place where lager goes amazingly well with your meal. It's not subtle. It's not modern. But it is brilliant.

Love the Bombay Cottage for lunch. Fantastic value)14.96 for 3 course lunch. Portions are large as we always take some home. Food is good. Some of the waiters can be a bit unfriendly. Decor is date but overall good food and value.

This is a popular Indian restaurant in Hamilton. Food is tasty and portions are generous.

Went here for a pre theatre meal. Staff were pleasent enough except for one guy who hovered around the tables and stared at you. Starters were not nice at all. Garlic mushrooms which did not taste anything like garlic or mushroom and an onion baji which was also bland and had been reheated. Main course was pretty average at best. Desert was ok but you can't go too far wrong with ice cream. Waiter then came to take away our plates twice before we had even finished and wasn't pleased when we asked him politely to give us a few minutes. When desert arrived he also brought the bill and card reader and asked us to pay before we had even ate it. Checked the bill and was overcharged by £35. Again he was not happy when challenged. Wouldn't recommend or go back.

This has got to be the number one Indian restaurant in scotland. The food is to die for, from the starters to any of the main courses, my favourites being the chicken chatte and the chicken jaipuri jeera not forgetting the table topping naan bread. What is not to like. The friendly, attentive staff just seal the deal. Around £25 per head including drinks, when are we going back?

Just a poor experience..lunch menu was small portions,unpleasant,greasy,poor nanny bread.slow service cold food,asked for the bill four times.Wont be rushing back.. hard to find a decent Indian restaurant.

Terrible - Threw food at us - must have been trained by Famtima Whitbread! The microwaves are very powerful but unfortunately the flavours were not. Very disappointing as recommended.

We ate here regular, but unfortunately after them refusing us entry with our pram and 3 week old baby we won't be back, I have never heard the likes that no prams are aloud in a restaurant 😡😡😡.

Chicken was overcooked & charged for things we didn’t have

Only thing I didn't like as we had loads of food left was putting in containers ourself in the tubs on our table.

We had a large table booked for my fathers birthday. The table ended up being a 7 and a 3, with a room that wasn’t very busy. This could have been accommodated to be a table of 10. The food was pretty dry and uninteresting and the desserts were equally the same. The drinks were pushed upon us all the time with waiters lingering over us the whole time. It was quite disturbing how the host spoke to a lot of the staff, spoken too as if they were minions. Aside from this, the portion sizes were okay. The peshwari naan bread was very nice. The garlic naan was lathered in garlic and uneatable. Overall, wasn’t impressed with the meal and the quality of the service.

I went to the Bombay Cottage with several work colleagues and we had a fantastic lunch...the restaurant was very busy but the service was first class and the staff were very friendly. The main thing though was the food....all six of us had different mains and we all thoroughly enjoyed what we had.... Took my wife and family there two nights later and once again the food and the service was fabulous...one of the waiters told me the place has been there for over thirty years....there is a reason why it is still going strong....Not To Be Missed, John, Glasgow

Food wasn't anything special.to be honest first visit probably be the last wasn't a great atmosphere either, no football colours notice on the main door only for a 50 yr plus guy in a full Celtic track suit on a Thursday afternoon to sit down across from us that just top it off staff where polite and friendly apart from that it wasn't anything special

Well guys I felt I needed to write this review. I have been to your establishment 4 times now and I have found the food to be absolutely amazing. I’m the guy who lives in England and comes for lunch before I travel back to Hartlepool on the Mondays. Top marks to the little guy who served us. We had the king prawn puri and the chicken puri as starters. I bought the lamb Madras to take home along with garlic rice and a keema Nan Bread. Well guys I have just had it for Dinner WOW. Tried the Lamb Makhani (sp?) Tikka Masala and it was delicious. The Lamb fell apart beautifully and melted in my mouth, lovely flavours in the curry, the naan was doughy how I like it, and the drinks in the bar area after were excellent

This was not a good experience at all, staff were so rude, didn’t make us feel welcome at all. Basically pushed us out the place. Our popadoms arrived and all our mains at the same time, staff were hoovering as we were eating our food. We were basically chucked out. Staff left before us! I am completely shocked

Worst spent £50 for a basic meal for two. Horrible service, unwelcoming and our wishes were not heard. One of the waiters was polishing our plates in front of us, but that didn’t really have any effect on the finger print marks… Interior and crockery all very old. Potato & aubergine meal was bland and full of coriander. The fish dish was pieces of battered fried fish in vegetable sauce that made it horribly soggy. £4.50 for still water! And to top it all off they were actually vacuuming the restaurant while we were eating!! Avoid.

I took my Dad here for Father’s Day - the 3 course set menu was £19.95. We got spiced onions & poppadums as an extra to share. I got vegetable pakora to start and my Dad got the onion bhaji. I got chicken tikka for my main and my Dad got chicken punjabi masala. We also ordered a plain naan bread & portion of chips as extra too. I got tea with a mint on the side for my dessert and Dad got coffee with a mint. The food was of a very high standard and service was quick, especially with the amount of other tables that were sat. Overall, would return again and again.

Excellent service food was warm and very tasty

Cold reheat samosa starter. Returned and then given a cold plate for mains. When I picked up the plate to check for heat I discovered food and a hair on the underside of the plate. After a wait we were advised to wait for a manager, we were finally met with a cold indifferent manager who took my food off the bill. 36th wedding anniversary celebration down the drain😢😢😢

Bad experience first time in restaurant Staff didn’t listen went inside said no table I understand when its busy . the way he spoke to me was rude not welcoming not greeting please take care of your customer without customer u can’t business . I heard best restaurant in Hamilton. But my experience wasn’t great. Don’t want to come back here again . I will not suggest to go there also .

Only called in for a takeaway as I was parked in the motorway services, dropped off the trailer and went in the unit ,food was excellent I had a dansak with chilli rice,the nann was enough for 3 people let alone me on my own. Very large portions and again enough for 2 people. Will call again next time I'm up here, just a shame I live 170 miles away or it would be go to place and the interior is very nice.

Love the food, the lamb was amazing, lunch is three courses and filling didn't realise how hot the metal plates were they serve the main on watch out. Ps I would have the ice cream without cream and just sauce. It's really cheap to eat but the drinks add up quickly

Heard great things about this restaurant. The service was excellent, so helpful, but I have to say the curries were OK but nothing special and the nan was too thick for my taste. My lamb was melt in the mouth, though. Very busy, so booking essential. Parking on street and pay car park opposite. Not too pricey and a well stocked bar. Worth a visit.

Want there as a group of 4.. 2 Biryani's was disgusting as im who puts pineapple and a cocktail cherry on the rice and for the chicken curry the chicken was like eating leather and they had the gall to charge £110 the rice tastes of pineapple.cleary this restaurant doesn't know how to Cook. Ps told them I was allergic to coriander but my meal was full of it.stay away and avoid its disrespectful and disgusting

Food was excellent, was there with a large party. I thought it was strange that the starters were ordered and the server walked away leaving the menus on the table. He then brought the starters when we still had the menus and had not ordered out mains? Male staff were also rude when serving the mains but as the food was very nice I would go again.

One of the best Indian Restaurants we have been in, highly recommended this place. We had the lunch time set menu and more food than we could eat, being a little older our appetites are not as big as they use to be! Very good value and the staff could not do more.

The restaurant is clean, modern and thats where the positives stop! The quality of the food is average at best, the elderly female member of staff needs training and thats being extremely polite. I would not return here and therefore I do not recommend this restaurant.

Personal taste but I have e joyed better Indian cuisine. It was so busy and seems popular so you need to book. Nan breads huge garlic nan had large deposits of grated garlic in patches which was not very appetising. Would go back if friends wanted to go.

Booked a table for 4 people for 3 pm, not given table to 3.25 . A shambles in table planning. Staff appeared at odds with each other as regards orders/service. Starters served okay as what was ordered however some mains arrived late and/or incorrect. One was supposed to be chicken tikka sizzler which came with a masala sauce and rice, what came was chicken tikka masala with no rice. Eventually rice came for which we were over charged. The vegetable rogan gosht was too spicy and inedible. Won't be rushing back anytime soon

Food ok, still eating starter and waiter cleared everyone else’s plates away including uneaten pompadours and spiced onions. Just average wouldn’t rush back.

Let me start by saying ...love the food, the staff and the setting but to have confirmed that the tips we give for staff are sent to a girls school in India is appalling. There's no notices to state this on site or any indication anywhere to alert the public that's this is where our tips go. I've sent an email and a couple of messages to the restaurant but they haven't confirmed or denied it, they have ignored them. So I've decided to make it public on social media too. I have had it confirmed and I won't say by whom. I'm angry that I'm giving good tips for staff and they are not receiving a penny of it!!!!

We had a lovely meal here for a retirement do. The food was beautiful and the staff where great.

One word! Amazing! Firstly the portion size is massive. Curry’s and rice in the same size cartons, and the biggest Nan bread I have ever seen!! The South Indian chilli chicken was tasty, not as spicy as I expected but enjoyable. Husband had the Chardonnay Chesni lamb. Wow! Exactly like the description, flavoursome and full of tikka lamb. The tomato and coriander rice was beautiful and so tasty. Cannot wait to try some more dishes next time.

Can't fault the place everthing about it is good

Went here to dinner already not feeling well only for the waiter in the spiv moustache to arrive coughing his lungs out while setting out the plates, who should have not came in to work if he had a cold. Then getting ushered out to the car park because they can't wait to shut the gates at 22:00.

I’m a customer for 30 years and tonight my partner ordered king prawns korma and it apppears the prawns was too salty . We complained to the waiter and he did changed but still the same . That salty that we cant even taste the prawns . They’re Adamant that they didn’t put salt on the prawns and stated that it could be the sauce . We did tried to explained it’s not the sauce but the prawns itself . We were disappointed plus they still charged us after ate 3 of the prawns .

This was my first visit and , I am delighted to say, I was not disappointed . This is an excellent restaurant. Comprehensive menu: delicious and carefully prepared food. Wonderful ambiance and very attentive staff. “ Sunny “ made us feel most welcome and the whole experience was delightful. Can wholeheartedly recommend.

Arrived about 830-845 ask for table for 2 said something like where have you been as if your late like he didn't want any more customers!! It was a bit off putting. Got meal was ok. Service could have been a lot better, food presentation was poor. Nearly everyone had left and a guy was hoovering up. We felt really uncomfortable and decided just to leave. I will not be back £80 meal wished he had said sorry we are closed and we would have saved the inconvenience we caused 😄

Brilliant Indian restaurant with fantastic variety of delicious food, romantic ambiance n lovely staff. Not forgetting proprietor Sonny who kept us fascinated with his stories of Singapore Airlines etc. Brilliant guy to chat with. I've eaten in here twice, had one takeaway and had a great experience each time. The food was wonderful, the service was impeccable and very friendly. If you order the nan bread, be prepared to give up half of your table space. They are huge and delicious. I will definitely be back.

got told by staff member that none of the vegetable curry dishes can be made vegan. I’ve been vegan for many years and have always been able to order curry at any other restaurant. Booked table so ordered a drink then had to leave.
