Murphy's Pakora Bar in Glasgow City

Food was delicious and the service was excellent. We weren't sure what to have but the waiter kept us right and explained what to expect from each dish in terms of quantity etc. very attentive throughout. Would definitely return and recommend

Visited few years back and loved the food Staff are nice as is the venue but the food was not so good and very over priced. Guess this is what can happen when a place gets to popular and no longer needs to try

Honestly, THE WORST CURRIES I have ever had. We ordered take away from here and ordered the south indian. It was practically inedible. I have no idea how the reviews are so high?? Did the chefs have a bad night? Is it just the take away? They went straight in the bin. The chicken was so dry and the sauce was thin and very very overpowering of garlic. Infact the synthetic garlic was the only taste to it. The poppadoms and spiced onions were the star. Try a million other Indians that are edible around Glasgow.

I don't ever eat Indian food i'm more of a chinese food person but my experience at this restaurant as made me rethink my choices the food was amazing from start to finish

Came all this way because the website stated “open late” and hours on google said open until 11. However at 9:30 we were told the kitchen was closed. Such a disappointment. Wish they had been open about this online.

We had a fantastic meal, and all five of us thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The atmosphere was comfortable, and the staff were exceptional. Raj, the owner, went above and beyond to make the night truly memorable.

One of worst foods you can have. The pakora is ok, had so called gol gappa where some one has spit spit microscopic potato into a readymade puff and when I returned the dish, there was no asking why I did not like it or ask for a refund as the dish was below par. Definitely an insult to Indian taste.

Spent a wonderful evening here with my team after a long day of conferences in Glasgow. Raj was a wonderful host and guided us all through the menu. The service was immaculate and swift and the food was absolutely scrumptious. Thank you to all the team. Our group of 8 were thoroughly looked after.

The worst curry I’ve ever had in my life. It was very runny, the chicken was bland, there were only 4 tiny pieces of chicken on the plate. This was the first and only time I’ve ever not enjoyed my meal out of hundreds of Indian restaurants I’ve been to.

Popped into Murphy’s for a snack and a drink while hungover. We had the Murphy’s fry where you pick any 4 pakora (and you get 2 of each) for £16. Wasn’t massively keen on the cheese ones but the Veg, haggis, and chorizo ones were delicious. Service was great too. Couldn’t really comment on atmosphere as it was only 12.30 and we were the only guests at the time. Place was clean and welcoming though

Wow! The food in here is cooked to absolute perfection 👌 highlights for me was the cheese pakora, chorizo pakora and the lamb baltiI. I seldom order Lamb out because past experiences of it being too fatty have put me off. This was amazing. We shared the pakora platter, a great way to try all the different ones. My friends loved their mains, although decided mines was the tastiest😅 we got free pompodoms with spiced onions and free pastacio and mango ice cream as it was my first visit🙏 great menu choice, drinks menu and staff where lovely and friendly. 👌 The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars was actually down to the owner (sorry) we just felt he was a a bit too much, over at our table alot showing off all his pictures of the celebs he has met over the years, not impressed like at all. Aside from that, the food is amazing. Bravo to the chefs. Decent prices for Finneston.

We plan most our restaurant visits for our trips, by Murphy's was an exception as we just popped in (extra time, a wee little rain). We just wanted a drink, but to get a table we also had to order food. We don't have much experience with Asian food so we took the waiter's suggestion and had a lovely collection of appetizers. Nice drinks, nice food, exceptional service.

Brilliant food and even better service. The staff are all lovely and seem to genuinely enjoy working there, which creates a lovely atmosphere. Staff are extremely polite, helpful and knowledgeable with the menu. A lovely gentleman held my jacket out for me, which I found very sweet and a nice personal touch. Would definitely return when next in the area! Thanks for a great evening

2nd time visited, and unfortunately this restaurant just doesn't do it for my taste buds. Not a great selection on their menu, tasty poppadoms with spiced onions, but Pakora just too crunchy and dry. 1st visit my lamb dish had 3 maybe 4 pieces of lamb, so went for a chicken dish 2nd time around, a bit better, again though to my taste. No nan breads available or chapatis... I gave it a 2nd chance, but unfortunately there won't be a 3rd. A thumbs down for me.

I got a takeaway from here due to the good reviews but unfortunately I was disappointed. Paneer pakora was not what was expected, it was scrambled paneer in batter and it had a smokey/barbecue taste which I did not like. Lamb bhuna was very bland.

We checked in to our hotel late in the evening when everything was almost closed and it was heavily raining. But luckily we came across this restaurant which saved this evening. As soon as we entered we were warmly greeted and offered a table with a view of the university. We were given a tour of the menu and given a personal recommendation by the waiter, which gave us an incredible first experience of Indian cuisine. Chicken pakora and Three cheese samosa are delicious. Thank you so much!

Amazing service from Raj and a lovely meal

A great place definitely worth visiting! The food was delicious. The staff was extremely friendly and the view of Glasgow Uni from the windows is a nice bonus. :-) If you are around be sure to check it out!

The ambience of the restaurant was great just like the starters. Tried fish pakora tasted good. We were really looking forward to the main course which was a total let down. Experienced first time being served readymade Naan in a restaurant for £4.50 could have bought the full packet from FoodAsia.South Indian garlic chicken was not even close enough to the title Chicken seemed boiled inside the curry bland with no curry taste. We don’t bother spending as long as the food is worthwhile. I think this place should be okay for someone who doesn’t know much about Indian cuisine.

Best tasting chicken pakora I've had. The service was excellent, we managed to get moved to the best table. We also had a couple of curries that were delicious and everything was piping hot. Finally need to mention Raj the owner, such a gentleman and he has certainly lived an amazing life sharing so many great stories. Can't wait to return ❤️

Did not disappoint. We had a wonderful experience. Delicious food, especially the pakoras, samosas & more traditional dishes like golgappe. Ceylonese korma was also really good! Would recommend.

Overpriced and small portions, £16 for a mixed pakora (see picture) Naan bread looked like it was bought at tesco.

Fabulous restaurant in Glasgow! We came from upstate New York on holiday and couldn't be more pleased with our selection. Delicious food, great atmosphere, and we met the deliteful owner Raj. Highly recommend.

This place is a reincarnation of the original Murphy’s but with a contemporary twist offering both traditional and small plate portions. Service was excellent and food faultless. Staff great - kudos to Raj who clearly has the “Midas touch” We will definitely be back soon.

Best curry I have had in years, very authentic and most importantly very tasty all food was just perfect and Raj made us feel very welcome , will defo be back and will be telling friends and family how good it is , best in Glasgow in my opinion.

Was really disappointed heard so many good things about this place. The chicken pakora was really tough and dry as was the chicken we had in our curries . Once we had finished our starters the waitress asked if we were finished I said yes and began to give her the dirty plates and cutlery but she said no keep these for the main course . Never in a restaurant have I had to keep my dirty plate and dirty cutlery for my main course. .

First time here and it won't be the last. Every single item was delicious. The fish pakora - omg. Butter chicken was sensational and the spiced oniins and pakora sauce - out of this world. Service was very good and friendly like you'd expect in Glasgow. A little gem! Keep it up!@

Khushi was a brilliant host, had a brilliant familiarisation with the menu to ensure we were happy with what we ordered. The service following thus was 10/10, cups were always full and cannot fault. Come visit - it’s potent.

Food is good, staff were lovely although a bit ambitious with how many dishes they recommended to order. The average person can't comfortably eat 3 courses at the sizes at Murphys. Always well fed when I leave though!!

Came here to celebrate my 23rd birthday with friends. Amazing atmosphere and service. Lovely chat, and energy from the owner and his members of staff. Highly recommend to anyone looking for some great Indian street food-at an amazing price!

Came in for a last date night before going on deployment, and can’t fault a thing. Service was fantastic, friendly without being intrusive, food was delicious (although we perhaps ordered a little too much! Two people on small plates should be good with 3/4 between them, easily), a watermelon daiquiri that couldn’t have been better and great chat from Raj the owner (including a challenge to guess the secret flavour in their pistachio ice cream!) I can’t recommend this place enough. Fully deserving of its #1 spot for Glasgow. If you haven’t been here, just do it!

Me and my partner walked down after the theatre, worth the wait. Last Asian meal I had like that would’ve either been family or in London. Authentic, not greasy, fresh chicken, desi lamb off the bone, staff spot on, next time will try the lamb bruna as suggested. Cocktail recommendations were suited to the meal. Will be back

Absolutely brilliant! My partner and I both thoroughly enjoyed our delicious food and the service from everyone we spoke to was outstanding! I loved our seat at the window and there was no rush once we had finished either. Loved the variety of pakoras and I’ll be back for more chasni very soon hopefully! My partner was impressed with his meal and how authentic it was to remind him of home. We will be back!!

Excellent hospitality and excellent food. No complaints whatsoever with the food, chorizo pakora was my particular favourite and something different from I've ever tried before. Something for everyone and you'll leave with a smile on your face.

Best fish pakoras I’ve ever had, the food from start to finish was delicious. Raj was a pleasure to meet. His stories of all the places and people he’s met in his time were amazing. I could have listened to him all night. Staff were so friendly. Try this place you won’t be disappointed.

The food is absolutely gorgeous. The flavours are so intense. The service is so good. They only thing I'd change is mocktails on the menu. But I cannot wait to come back.

We headed out for a supposed fun dinner, expecting decent food and good service. The food didn't disappoint and some waiters were really going out of their way to be nice, but there was a huge problem that spoiled the whole experience. It felt like we were constantly being stared at by some of the male staff. Their stares were downright Indecent, making us feel really uncomfortable. It's frustrating—you go to a restaurant to enjoy yourself, not to be treated like you're on display for some inappropriate gawking. They seriously need to get their act together and have some respect for the customers.

Lovely dinner experience. Arrived early to our table and waiter offered to move us to window seat once it was available. Food was incredibly fresh and delicious! Would come back again and again. Lovely staff - especially Raj!
