Munros Bar in Highland

We stayed at Taigh Ailean for our trip to Skye. We also had the opportunity to eat dinner there (Breakfast was included with our stay.) The dinner was so delicious! The view is lovely as you can see the loch from the windows of the bar. All the staff is fantastic and so friendly! I had a great dinner and I would describe it, but the menu changes to suit what is in season and available from the sea. Whatever you get, I guarantee it will be the best! Make sure you call ahead and get a reservation as it fills up quickly. I know that they also have live music, which would be great, but we didn't have any while we were there.

Fabulous visit and a great welcome from Katie and the staff. 6 rugby mates from all over the UK and I suspect we went through the menu over the 3 days we spent there between us all. Food was exquisite and would recommend the local specials. Smoked Trout was out of this world ! Can not fault the hospitality, quality of food and the welcome from Katie and the team. I was staying at the Skyewalker hostel just up the road, so walked down for a meal here to treat myself. I arrived a bit late, very busy with bookings so told when I got there, would have to vacate my table before I had started?! Advice is to book and get there on time, maybe because dining alone, and could have served two people? Super tasty scallops to start, then delicious trout on bed of creamy leeks and crushed new potatoes, took half away with me as too full to finish it!! Food was very enjoyable, great friendly guy from Leeds on the bar who knew his stuff. I wish I could have been there later when it is just the bar! Would gladly visit again, I may stay in Portnalong especially to visit Munro's bar and the Skyewalker hostel! Beautiful part of the world

Six ex-rugby men on a catch up weekend, ate here three nights in a row and the food and staff were first rate. Between us all we must have sampled the full menu over our three visits and we came away happy every night.

Just the two of us, a meal and one drink. Made to feel very welcome by lovely staff, which started on the initial telephone booking. I had one of the best beefburgers I've ever had, we were both more than happy with the food.

Six of had dinner here at beginning of September while staying about an hour away on Isle of Skye - was definitely worth the drive. A fantastic local place with delicious food, terrific atmosphere, good drinks of course, and our server was 11/10. Would definitely come by here again when back on Isle of Skye.

The food here wasn’t great at all. Two of us had different meats - one was absolute mush and like eating baby food and one was mega tough and difficult to chew. There are gluten free options. You have to go up stairs to get to the bar then down a different set to get to the toilets. I love the sticker in the accessible toilet about ambulatory wheelchair users but the layout of the bar makes it very difficult to access if you have limited mobility. Staff friendly.

Charming, quirky restaurant which looks a bit like a ski lodge in an amazing isolated spot with gorgeous views. Food was really good & the staff & people who run it were very friendly & welcoming. A bit of a drive but worth it.

Imagine you are at the end of the world - at least from a german perspective - and then you find this little but lovely restaurant. Reservation is highly recommended. The food was awesome, especially the pint of lobster as a starter. We really enjoyed our dinner. It’s at the end of the world and that’s why they are so great.

The staff were really friendly. The food was large portions and very delicious. (no complaints about the food) When we booked, they kindly fitted us in but when it came to 20 mins before the next customers arrival, unfortunately they rushed us out. So much so that we were ignored when asked for desert menu and 2 pints of beer. We ended up taking the beer home in the bottles and eating desert at home! Made us feel quite uncomfortable especially after spending over £200. A very disappointing end to a lovely evening with family. Such a shame

We ate at this delightful restaurant two nights in a row. Reservations are a must on Isle of Skye, and Portree is crowded. We had a reservation at a Portree restaurant on night two that was abruptly cancelled; looked like they were closed. Luckily, Munros - which is in Portnalong - had availability. Both nights, the food and service were excellent. First night, one of us tried mackerel the owner caught himself. Other seafood is on the menu, beautifully prepared. We had scallops, skate wing, and squatty lobsters. Amazing. If you’re not into seafood, they have other items. We had the venison stew, ribs, and risotto. Veggie curry and burgers are also on the menu. For gin lovers, there is a “gin of the moment,” but we also tried the local Talisker whisky. The menu itself is fun to read with daily specials. They are dog friendly, and the decor is adorable. Staff is joyful. Looks out over the loch and their back garden. We’ll return on our next trip.

This weekend my wife and I spent on Skye to celebrate the wedding of my brother and now sister in law! We had take away food from the Taigh Ailean on the Friday night and calling it "take away" is honestly a bit of an insult because it was amazing! I thoroughly recommend the ribs, so so tasty!The wedding which was also fully at the Taigh Ailean was really beautiful, current situation aside, the owners and staff attended to our every need. Covid rules and regs are adhered to to the letter and no one should worry about attending here.The wedding meal was absolutely outstanding. The only complaint being the portion sizes were a bit too big for us and we felt so bad for wasting such amazing food! The bar was well stocked and had more than you could have wanted.I'd recommend everyone visit here when they can!

We had the most fantastic meal here. All the ingredients were fresh and cooked perfectly and it was like delicious home cooking. The COVID restrictions were really well managed, all tables were really well separated but that didn't stop the place having a really nice feel to it. I would 100% recommend a visit here for food.

We visited this restaurant on our 2nd night on Skye after reading great reviews, It is amazing, the food is delicious, the portions are huge !! We booked to visit again tonight and the food did not disappoint, we have booked again before we leave!!! The atmosphere is really welcoming and the restaurant is dog friendly, however not just in name, they really made a fuss of our 2 dogs and made them feel welcome also. Whilst staying at the Taigh Ailean hotel we visited the bar both nights.Fantastic selection of whisky, beer, rum & gin - caters to all tastes.The food is ‘proper restaurant’ quality served in proper portions. Whether it’s a homely steak pie or freshly caught seafood you‘ll find something to your tastes.Highly recommend.

We enjoyed an absolutely delicious meal and our whole party loved their food. We especially enjoyed the huge onion rings! The portions were generous and the owners were so friendly. We visited as the lockdown restrictions were easing and the owners were very vigilant with checking temperatures and maintaining social distancing so all guests could have complete peace of mind.
