What a great place to come with family and friends 😊 very nice ambiance, food is too good. I would recommend thaal very very reasonable. They serve food with great smile, that rejuvenate us.

I used to go to the original restaurant in Bradford in the early 90s every weekend when I lived nearby and it was superb. Was disappointed that the food no longer resembles the way it was, it was OK, nothing special at all for what it cost, rather bland but worst of all everything was absolutely swimming in oil (See pictures and zoom in - I don't think it was ghee) and we both felt sickly all night afterwards with indigestion for me thrown in for good measure. I had lamb Korahi and my wife had one of the fish specialities, with pilau rice and garlic naan. The lamb was super tender and served really hot (but medium spiced as requested) but mediocre and the naan was overpowered by way too much garlic with the food served on stone cold plates which soon turned everything cold. The service was very good and the location is really lovely, we enjoyed a walk in the vicinity afterwards but the food was rather expensive. The standard of the venue and location means you shouldn't expect it to be cheap, but if your priority is good food and good value I'd look elsewhere based on our experience. There are many overly glowing reviews that make me feel suspicious as to whether they're genuine, maybe they are and my experience was a one off, it's certainly popular so hey ho, maybe we were unlucky, but I doubt it. I hate to post anything even resembling negative but I am being honest, this is a genuine review.

A lovely quiet restaurant on Leeds Dock. The food was delicious. The service was perfect and the setting with a view over the dock was smashing.

Had a family get together, the platter was amazing. Staff were friendly right from the parking lot, service couldn't be faulted. Very welcoming atmosphere. Will definitely be returning soon. L was also blown away by the bill, reasonably priced.

One of my top fav place to eat in the whole of the UK and been there quite a few times. I have loved their karahi (especially lamb) however I did find that you may not get it top notch every time but happy to take that risk.

The only good thing about this place is atmosphere, over priced food, taste is okish but not great. The prices does not justify the quality. The service is too slow, there are many other options where you can have better food in half price but if you are looking for seating and atmosphere then yes it offers a great experience

Went to mumtaz at the docks today after a very long time Food wasn't to expectation but the service by the waiter yaseen was excellent he looked after us throughout, he served us with a smile and great personality

Great service from Yaseen. He recommended a dish, a butter chicken, which was really tasty and with good flavour. Would recommend.

Ordered Karahi Chicken(on the bone) and Paya. Both were deliciously made with the spices perfectly done. Both dishes were fresh and really tasty. Our host Salma treated us kindly and helped us with our order. All in all a very good experience.

The sirloin stake was poor quality, the peppercorn sauce was like jelly?! and the mash on the side was absolutely horrible. Won’t be visiting again.

Three of us visited on July 24th, leaving a review only for the exceptional service provided by Salma, who was taking care of our table. A truly delightful member of staff who did her best to make sure our experience was positive.

We came here for a family event and the separated room at the end was nicely laid out. Great atmosphere and decor made the place feel spacious and luxurious. Free parking also available just across the road next to the school. Food itself was good. Nice views out to the dock as well and you can go for a walk afterwards too. Would recommend for a high end experience.

Not sure what to write to be 100% honest...just average, but it's only my opinion. I'm sure if some people like to take plenty of selfie photos it's a good place to be. Good decor...

The ambience is so nice and photogenic. But in the case of food I'm not happy with their butter parathas ( not properly cooked ) along with mixed veg ( like no salt in it ) with dal talka it looks like its not cooked or when we asked it should be mashed they just replied to us that in UK you will get dal like this only. So it's a bit surprising for me. But overall you can come for starters and drinks. Also for your selfies.

The food here doesn’t quite match up to their Bradford branch, but the atmosphere benefits from the lovely riverfront setting. Service was on the slow side, though the staff were polite and attentive. One highlight was the mango lassi, which was refreshing and delicious. They also offer a range of fresh juices that are worth trying. The restaurant’s location at the docks provides a great river view, adding to the overall experience. Inside, there’s a shop selling their own perfumes, curry paste, spices, ghee, and more, which is a nice addition. Despite some drawbacks, the pleasant ambiance and courteous service make this spot worth considering.

Mumtaz Leeds has been on my "to do" list for over 5 years. I wish I had visited sooner. Excellent experience all round. The location is very convenient and easily accessible from the motorway. Large free car park is very welcome after a 2 hour drive to get to the venue. The waterside location is very pretty in the day and really comes alive at night. We arrived at a reasonably busy time for the restaurant, but nevertheless were seated very quickly. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable in the menu items. The food arrived very quickly and was thoroughly enjoyed. This alone is enough reason to return. I hope it is not another 5 years before I do so.

This place has gone downhill; mainly because of the lack of customer service. Waiters and managers need to be trained or retrained on how to deal with customers, and give them that joyful Mumtaz experience that is now a distant memory. Remember staff, the customers are paying good money to dine and are essentially paying your wages, learn how to be attentive and accommodating. It was a huge disappointment. The food was nowhere close to authentic. We ordered chicken tikka masala, which had no tikka chicken in it but rather normal cooked chicken. The masala was more like chicken jalfrezi than the smooth, silky sauce typical for chicken tikka masala. The aloo paratha was more like aloo naan, and the ras malai was tangy and not tasty at all. This restaurant is a disgrace to Pakistani cuisine. I'm really disappointed. I think it is only surviving because of English customers unfamiliar with authentic Pakistani food and are used to bland foods and anything with a little spice can excite their taste buds. However, for a native Pakistani, it was nowhere near authentic taste. Huge disappointment.

Beautiful place especially for pictures , food was good as well , do try the grilled fish it’s delicious. View is amazing, large menu and great atmosphere. The staff was a bit slow but had a good experience overall . Not to mention it was very clean as well . It’s called the selfie restaurant for a reason and now I know why 😀😀 it’s a brilliant place to go to 😁🫶🏼

Grand Thaal was very good value (but a bit anglicised! Chips and tomato sauce???) It was great for a family meal - and allowed everyone to try a bit of everything without feeling like they were stealing off another plate. We’ll do it again (without chips! … but that is us!)

Great restaurant. We enjoyed eating in this restaurant, everything was perfect. The dishes were delicious and the portions generous. We were served by Salma who was very kind and attentive. In addition, the decor is very beautiful.

Visited here today with my family. Here’s my take on it. Excellent Free parking which was manned by a gate guard, short walk to the restaurant (1min) On entering the place looks very impressive & lavishly decorated. We were seated pretty quickly. Brilliant service from the waitress and drinks & pickle tray/poppadoms soon followed. Mains ordered too. Food filled the table, reasonable sized portions and chapatti’s were massive. Presentation and taste were very nice and overall we all enjoyed our main course. We bought desserts to take home which had a large glass counter to choose from. Only annoying thing was some kids decided to play on the grand piano, so we’re just playing random keys until one of the waiters asked them not too and bribe them with a lolly. Awesome location at Leeds Dock and a few quirky bars nearby. I would recommend this place for a family meal or celebration

The best curry I've ever had by far! A friend introduced me to this hidden diamond a few months ago! The food is 10/10. The staff are very attentive. No complaints, only praise. Bear in mind they do not serve alcohol if you like a beer with your curry!

Our server, Imran, was friendly and went out of his way to ensure we had the best experience possible. The restaurant also features a prayer room with a washing area for ablution, and the toilets were clean and well-maintained. It's evident that the restaurant takes pride in maintaining a high standard. Notably, the restaurant has hosted many famous people, including the Queen herself. This prestigious history adds to its allure, making it a must-visit destination. From the beautiful chandeliers to the exceptional service, every detail contributes to a memorable dining experience. The combination of delicious food, a luxurious setting, and reasonable prices makes this restaurant a standout choice. I will definitely be going again !!!

Nice environment to sit and enjoy a meal, unfortunately the food was all very average and the service was absolutely terrible. Drinks order was wrong, waitress then argued we'd ordered what she'd brought out Main course arrived half way through eating started Plates banged down onto the table Just in general all waiters and waitresses were rude Bill came out wrong Made to wait 15 mins to pay the bill.. Overall pretty awful experience and most likely won't be returning

Overall Positive: Staff were polite, seated quickly Timing between courses was good Nice view of docks Free parking Cons; Toilets were very poorly managed. Unpleasant experience, especially from a 5-star restaurant. Definitely needs to be cleaned more frequently. This put me off my food. Especially unpleasant for children with young kids who need to use the toilet. We ordered, Samosa chat and chicken pakoras for starters, and half a kg lamb karahi for mains. Samosa chat was ok, chicken pakora's were very, very dry, and overdone. Curry was ok, generous portion for a family of 4, with 2 adults and 2 children, but was very mediocre in taste.

The Ambiance is top notch, located at the river side of Leeds Dock which makes it a nice place. Food was served cold and due to an event going on there, the management was kind of overwhelmed. Only few people from the staff were to take care of so many people coming in. Taste was alright though..!!

Its not worth the hype!! Food is very average and service is extremely slow. Waited half an hour just to receive the bill. Chappal kabab has no authentic taste: 6/10 Chicken achari handi: 7/10 Pani puri: 4/10

Excellent service. No waiting time to be seated. Appropriate waiting time for first and main course. Repeat customers at Mumtaz Leeds never really had any problems.

Great food and service, but the cleanliness of the toilets really lets this place down. Been on more than one occasion and again the toilets were a mess and unclean. They definitely need more attention considering this is a food establishment.

This is an amazing spot for dinning by the Leeds Docks. The food was super delicious and staff were very friendly. We were served by Talha and he offered us a great dining experience. I had Biryani chicken with a tasteful mixture of aromatic spices. I definitely recommend the restaurant and would go again.

Very busy for İftar meal in Ramadan. Food was good but not outstanding as on previous occasions. Service is average but can be excused given the busy restaurant for İftar. Prayer room cannot accommodate the numbers using the place, so staggered use detracted from the Ramadan spirit/atmosphere. We were offered Poppadoms and chutney without being told it would be added to the bill Overall pleasant and good food but no longer "outstanding"!

Walking in to Mumtaz, you know it’s going to be great! The decor and welcome are amazing. A fabulous meal for the whole family. The best Chicken Tikka Masala I’ve ever had! The staff are friendly and very attentive. Every meal the family had was lovely.

A grand looking asian cuisine restaurant famous for its Insta worthy / Instagrammable interiors. It is also famous amongst the royal family and celebrities across the world. This place surely lived up to the hype interior look wise as we planned to visit this place from a very long time and ultimately decided to go for our friend’s birthday dinner. We went on a Saturday evening hence called them for a confirmed reservation. Upon arrival they played the birthday song which took us by a surprise and our friend was elated. The service was prompt and were asked for popadams and we happily said yes to which within minutes we were served couple of popadams with combination or sweet and spicy condiments which had mint yogurt chutney, imli chutney, tomato chutney, mango pickle, some jam. It’s nice to have something to munch on while you wait to order as we assumed it was complimentary and a gesture of good will but no, they did add it to the bill, which is not a damage but just felt bad for assuming as they never mentioned but good sales! We went with our comfort food and ordered keema parantha, paneer tikka & chappal kebeb for starters. And for our mains we ordered garlic naan with spicy karahi chicken & veg biryani. We had no drinks and there was not much of an option just got like a diet coke on the side. I wanted to make the occasion special for my friend so got a birthday desert for him it was jam cheese cake and it was good. The billing was a bit of old school which is really authentic they fill up on a notepad and add up at the end. To be honest, food was very basic, some had extra salt and some did not! Not really impressed, so food wise its basic

Myself and my husband ate at Mumtaz this evening for an early dinner. We had a lovely time, Talha our waiter was attentive, efficient, welcoming and kind. Talha advised us on the dishes we were choosing. Talha really couldn’t do enough for us. We were included in the traditional break-fast for Ramadam, and were given the traditional foods of dates, potatoe slices, chicken soup & a bread roll along with an orange. It was so lovely to be part of the experience, when the sun set everyone began to eat and prayers were chanted. We want to say thank you once again to Talha for a lovely evening, the food was excellent, the surroundings opulent and the atmosphere as the sun set invigorating, we will be back. ☺️

The waitress rushed us to take our order, wouldn’t let us think before answering. Asked us if she should REEEAAALLLY be clearing our rather very dirty appetizers plates and escaped giving us fresh plates for main course. The waitress also handed the plates of food to our hands instead of placing them on the table and also took away our starters that we thought we would eat with our maincourse away, and upon reading the question marks on our faces for picking the food up she asked us “do you want to eat this?” For a £100+ worth of average curry, the service was rather underwhelming. Not going there again. Went to Aagrah the next day, the service was not only better but also the staff seemed more clued up about how to handle customers who are about to spend a fortune on again rather average curries. Must train your staff according to the price of your product to run a business.

I really enjoyed my Iftar experience at Mumtaz. The dates and soup etc. were a really thoughtful touch for Muslim customers. The mixed grill was nice but I particularly enjoyed the butter chicken and garlic naan. The service was really organised around Iftar time and I was really impressed.

The good two things are the atmosphere (which is not something that you can find easily in Leeds restaurants) and the free car parking. Food quality is OK (not horrible at least), portion is small, and it is definitely overpriced for the quality and portion.

Good service and the food came quickly; however, I wouldn’t rate it from a taste perspective, certainly not where my vegetable biriyani was concerned anyway. Too much rice, in-fact I only ate half of it, and then a very small amount of rather bland chickpea curry, another sauce that I have no idea about, but didn’t enjoy, and then what I can only assume was a raita. The garlic naan was good though, but huge, again, only ate half. I was with work colleagues, so can’t comment on their curry’s. What I will say though is that the did eat theirs and seemed to enjoy it so perhaps I chose badly. A slight issue with the bill too, but that wasn’t our server’s fault; we needed bills for work and it just got a bit complicated. Finally, the place is huge, a little soulless and, dare I say, tacky. Again though, that might just be me. I wouldn’t return.

The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making me feel right at home from the moment I stepped in. The menu, rich with authentic flavours, offered a delightful journey through traditional cuisine. Each dish, especially the butter chicken, was cooked to perfection, boasting rich flavours and succulent meat. I can't recommend Mumtaz enough for anyone craving an authentic taste of culinary excellence.

The prawn biryani was amazing, never let me down they’re always consistent.

First time here and was blown away the decor is great on top of that the food and staff amazing. We went for a early dinner and it was packed however could not fault the waiting time and even though the staff were busy they were very attentive.
