Masala Hut in Leeds

We have had a couple of takeaways from here in the past month. The food was absolutley first class and very tasty. Portion sizes are very generous also. Delivery was in the stated time. Great food would highly recomend. Dishes included chicken dopiaza. Chicken khari. Korma, king prawn patina. Breads were moist rice fluffy.

Ordered a chicken desi masala through Uber eats.. it arrived 35 minutes late, the driver handed me a torn bag, when I opened it, the curry was all over the bag the contents spilled out. I plated up what curry was left and found it to contain not 1, not 2, not 3, but 9 full red chillies. I ate what I could until my mouth went numb. No flavour in it except chilli. I can handle hot, but this was hotter than even a phal. Never again.

Reservamos aquí hace una semana, uno de nuestros restaurantes favoritos siempre es un excelente servicio y excelente comida. Reservamos para el último día de ayuda para salir a comer y fue embestido. Reservamos para las 6 pm pero tuvimos que esperar. No es culpa suya, es un gran ambiente muy jovial, que no querría quedarse. Me senté, servicio rápido considerando que se quedaron sin pies. Pedí consejo sobre el curry más picante, confié en el consejo y en mi bondad, me alegro de haberlo hecho. Fue increíble. Pedí masala de pescado para empezar y phaktoon de Bengala. Pedí cordero pero recibí pollo, pero debido a la noche ocupada no tengo quejas, me gusta el pollo, así que estuvo bien. Mi marido consiguió buscar kebab, y los platos principales eran pollo, cordero y saag de carne picada. Le encantó. También conseguimos un keenma naan que era precioso pero estábamos llenos. En general, una comida fabulosa de la que todavía estamos entusiasmados, ¡me encantó! El pobre personal, sin embargo, se ha vuelto loco. Bien hecho chicos. ¿¿¿Muy apreciado???

Fantastic food and great service as always, they have taken the current covid regulations seriously and put screens measures in place to keep safe. Best local curry as always

Two and a half hour wait for delivery, and when it finally comes flat cold and congealed. Restaurant quality, I don't think so?! Save some money and order at a takeaway!

Llamé para hacer mi pedido y fue recibido por un caballero con una manera amistosa, hizo el pedido y fue leído confirmado. la comida llega en la escala de tiempo, y pedí un balti de cordero y ajo. Tengo que decir que fue el mejor curry que había comido en un establecimiento para llevar, y los sabores eran deliciosos.Recomiendo encarecidamente comer desde aquí a cualquiera.

Moved away and haven't been for a while so it was great to visit last Friday with my family. Booked for 6pm thinking it would be quiet but it was packed. As always, Kobi and his team gave us a very warm welcome and the food was outstanding. Normally when you ask for a vindaloo you get a madras, this was a true vindaloo. The refit is great as well, just wish they could extend it! Well done Masala Hut and highly recommended for a great curry at a sensible price. TIP, they don't take card so take some cash.

We visited for a family meal to celebrate our oldest son's 30th birthday. We had previously celebrated his 21st and been several times in-between. They have had a make over of the restaurant, not much changed. The food is still spactacular but the service didn't seem as sharp.

Firstly the quest for the best curry in the U.K. has ended today! Not only was the experience 10 out of 10 but the waiter's or as like to call them friends now Ehsan and Tyson blown our minds away with Sharpe attention and the best sense of humour directed with total respect...best experience ever xxx

Visité dos veces este año, en primer lugar con mi esposo y otras 2 parejas y en segundo lugar anoche con 8 amigos. En ambas ocasiones, la comida, el servicio y el ambiente eran fabulosos. cada uno de nosotros ordenó diferentes platos y nos sirvieron al mismo tiempo, lo cual no fue una hazaña cuando el restaurante estaba lleno. Cada plato era magnífico, como lo demuestran los platos limpios en general. La reciente renovación ha agregado al ambiente y volveremos muy pronto. Gracias a todo el personal por su atención y maravilloso servicio.

This curry house is tucked away behind the shopping Centre of Crossgates, don’t let that put you off as I believe this is the best Curry House in Leeds. Great atmosphere, superb food fantastic staff especially Kobi who runs the show. You will need to book in advance to get a table, if you just turn up on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday you will not get it as it so popular.

We came for my partner birthday with a few friends the place is so friendly the minute you walk threw the door the waiter Tyson Ishaq was fantastic always there if we need anything and the other waiter as well were helpful the food was well presented and big portion and they surprised my partner with an ice cream Sunday with a big sparkler just tip the night off I would definitely recommend this place warm friendly and very welcoming

Found this little gem last week by accident. We were so glad we did. Excellent food (coming from Bradford we would know) it was busy, but the service was second to none, very accommodating to personal requirements. Extensive menu to suit all tastes. Everything was fresh, clean tasting & full of flavour. We enjoyed it so much we are going back this Sunday to try the buffet. I would recommend booking in advance, we were lucky last week, but we have booked a table for Sunday.

We have been coming to the Masala Hut for a number of years. It has recently been refurbished to a high standard it looks amazing and the food and service are excellent.... Definitely worth a visit....

We loved this place before the refurbishment. Staff very welcoming and friendly and food always amazing but wow. They have given the place the wow factor. The decor is perfect and the food is up to its usual standard and more. The best meal we have had here. Onwards and upwards. Bring your own full fat coke because someone, mentioning no names, loves it !!

First visit after the refurb and it wasn't a great experience.

Never eaten at the restaurant but the take away is excellent. Usually ready in 25/30 mins. Good choice of very tasty dishes at reasonable price. Parking close by can be an issue.

I came here with my family and was not impressed at all! We waited so long for the food then when it arrived it was not cooked propeely. I spoke to management who were very arrogant, I would not recommend this establishment!

What a little hidden treasure In Cross gates ...great food and service.... the staff go above and beyond to help will definitely go back

Absolutamente horrible, horrible comida para llevar. ¿Sólo se entregaron 2 platos cuando pedimos 3, uno de los que sí llegó fue el plato equivocado? ¿Todo el pedido fue frío, los poppadams eran masticables y el aceite flotaba en la parte superior y en toda la bolsa? Literalmente el peor curry que hemos tenido! Llamó por teléfono preguntando dónde estaba el curry faltante, para luego esperar otra media hora hasta que llegara, ¿otra vez fue el plato equivocado absolutamente goteando aceite de la bolsa?

We've had many takeaway deliveries from here, and eaten in the restaurant a few times too. Usually really tasty food, decent prices, good service. However after Saturday evening's meal my boyfriend had diarrhea and then the most violent vomiting I've ever had the misfortune to hear, for a good 10 minutes. Accompanied by fever and chills he probably got a good dose of salmonella from his mushroom pakora or chicken curry. Such a shame as we've loved this place for years but don't think we'll risk eating there again.

Been here many times still cannot fault it, yes it can be very busy especially at weekends but that doesn’t stop me from going. The food is excellent, it is on a back street so easily missed. You can bring your own alcohol (not served on premises). If you want a very cheap night with great food come here, you won’t be disappointed.

Always great service and relatively low bill, helped by BYOB. Food can vary between brilliant and reasonable. However never poor and well worth a visit

I ordered a takeaway for myself and my husband. I placed the order by phone told it would take 25 minutes I arrived in that time frame. When I arrived back home with my takeaway it was freezing cold. I only travelled home taking 4 minutes. The food didn’t look very appealing either all sauce and no chicken.

Staying at a local hotel and bar was full so searched take away near me so was complete stab in the dark... really pleased and would order again if in the area ! Definitely recommend

Absolutely love this place. The service is always really good, the food is amazing and really reasonably priced too! Me and my Boyfriend tried the buffet on a Sunday recently-all you can eat for £10! That includes starters as well. We booked a table for NYE. They were packed out so we had to wait a little while. We ended up having to move tables half way through but to compensate they kindly gave us 50% off our bill!

Masala Hut is a small restaurant basically tucked away in a car park. But it’s worth seeking out! The food is lovely and the staff pleasant and efficient. It’s a nice place to enjoy a meal in relaxed comfortable surroundings. Bring your own alcohol - wine coolers provided, beers popped in the fridge! Excellent value for money.

Ordered food from this place and 2 out of 3 of the meals had big black hairs in them and if that’s not bad enough when this joke of a manager told us we would get a Refund of full price which was £30.40 he had the nerve to send his driver back with £13 what a joke , you should be ashamed not only are we regulars but we recommend your restaurant to our friends and family . I will never eat from this place again merely at the cheek of him would highly recommend Jinnah round the corner though .

What a fabulous restaurant. The staff are so efficient and friendly. The restaurant was small but busy and lively. I knew I would love it just from the lovely smell when we first walked in. Great that you take your own alcohol and the staff will provide wine coolers or but beers and wine in their fridge for when you want it later. Best of all though was the food, I can really recommend this restaurant. I had a dish I had never heard of before (chicken Saley) and it was delicious. Also tried some of the different dishes ordered by my friends as well as a selection of side dishes - all great. Prices are very reasonable too.

First time we have used the takeaway service and we were very impressed. Ordered over the phone and the food arrived within the time we were told it would, it was all correct and really good quality.

Eat here a few times a year. Went a few weeks ago me my wife and two kids. Great food and good company. Take your own alcohol nice cheap night out.

Tuvimos a mi esposo 60.o cumpleaños, aquí fue brillante. Éramos 18 de nosotros y nos lo pasamos muy bien. El personal es muy eficiente y la comida era encantadora como siempre, y aunque había otra gran fiesta, al igual que las parejas, todos Conseguimos nuestras comidas al mismo tiempo y muy calurosas gracias a todos los empleados.

Para aquellos de ustedes que viven en el área que no han visitado Masala Hut, no sé a dónde han ido. El personal siempre es amable y muy útil si no puede decidir qué tener. Tienes que tomar tu propio alcohol, pero al menos puedes tener lo que quieras. La comida siempre es deliciosa y te cuidan siempre.

A very small Indian restaurant in Leeds. Was up on Bussiness and the reviews were good and wasn’t staying too far

Quiet, small, but very tasty food. Bring your own booze. Great value for money. Service is impeccable and they honestly make you feel at home. Highly recommended!

The place may be small and intimate but the food is excellent cannot fault it. It was very busy, that shows how popular it is. The prices are very good, it was all in all a very good evening and I would recommend this place who like to go there. It is off the main road so easily could be missed.

My family and I were stopping off in Leeds on our way back down from a short stay in Fort William. We checked out the local area on Google for a good curry house and read that the Masala Hut offered an excellent authentic Indian curry culinary experience. We were not disappointed. The food was amazing. My chicken naga was one of the best I ever eaten and my daughters are still talking about their tandoori chicken and chicken korai dishes. Also noteworthy were Masala Hut's peshwari and garlic naans - a melt in the mouth delight. The dishes were generous so we ended up taking a doggie bag home that was most definitely not for the pooch! All the staff were very polite and attentive. On arriving back in Dover I discovered that I had left a rather expensive mountaineering fleece in the restaurant. I contacted the Masala Hut and a member of staff, Tanu, took it upon himself to ensure the fleece was carefully packaged and returned to me Recorded Delivery. I of course wished to reimburse Tanu but was informed that the Masala Hut had covered the cost. What a fantastic eating experience followed by incredible gesture of good will that one rarely encounters these days. Huge thanks to Tanu and the staff at the Masala Hut!

Lovely place. Very friendly staff, couldn’t do enough for us, very very busy. The meal was really good, as always too much, because we all love the pickle tray. Would recommend and will be paying another visit very soon.

We arrived on a Saturday when the restaurant had just opened, it was quite but soon filled up. The place is small but the waiters were really friendly, they were able to advise what dishes could be made vegan and which were not which really helped as some place cannot even accommodate that. The food was good and I would defiantly visit again if in the area. You take your own drinks to the restaurant and this is a great idea and saves a lot of money. They provide glasses and corkscrew if one is required.

The Masala Hut is a hidden gem, tucked away close to the car park of the Cross Gates shopping centre. Even so the restaurant is often full so it is prudent to book in advance.

Every time we visit Leeds from London we have to visit Masala Hut. It's fantastic and inexpensive.the food and service is excellent

My son took me for their buffet night. What beautiful food excellent service and friendly staff. They do not do alcohol but are happy for you to take your own and they can only take cash payments. As long as you know this before you will really enjoy their very clean comfortable friendly environment. Definitely worth the visit

Been going to this delightful curry house (set in in the middle of a car park!). Always a busy little venue so booking is generally advised especially on Wednesdays as it's buffet night. Always prepared to go the extra mile.

The food was great but they think that it is acceptable to make loyal customers wait for over half an hour to sit down. They need to get a better system for turning tables around. They weren't prepared to ask customers who had finished their food and were clearly not in a rush to leave so that we could sit down. I don't see why they think it's acceptable to leave customers standing around - no drinks and in the way of the buffet. Guess what when we left, those customer from earlier were still there! Stopped going for a while previously due to always having to wait and given them another couple of visits but after this last visit, we won't be going back.

I've never eaten in the restaurant but only had takeaways, which have always been good or excellent. The cook their food better than all the other local Indian restaurants in the area in my opinion and although I've not eaten in, I've stood near the kitchen and waited for one. The quality, presentation and aroma of the food which flows from the kitchen is absolutely divine and an absolute killer when you're waiting. I just can't wait to get home and rip the lids off my own food.One big criticism though - the difficulty in placing a telephone order. It can often be all but impossible to call an order through. This is a shame as I've given up and gone elsewhere on a couple of occasions. I dont want to go anywhere else but if you can't place an order there'' not much else you can do.

I came here with some girls from my gym who are regulars here. I've lived locally for a couple of years and been recommended Masala Hut a few times but never got round to going until now. We went on a buffet night and it was really good value for money. £9.50 included a mixed starter, naan, rice and a choice of 5 different curries. If you were vegetarian they would bring you a separate selection to the table. It's very small though so booking in advance would be a must. It was quite busy even though we went at a funny time! I will definitely be coming back.

Really lovely food, we went on a Wednesday and did not know it was buffet night, we were so full the buffet was amazingly lovely, and the bill came to less than £20 for twoWill come again, the waiter said his name was George Clooney but I have my suspicions lol

Well my friend and I went for a meal and a catch up and it was lovely, the staff were very polite and attentive, the food was gorgeous, I asked if a dish which is usually mild could be spiced up and they did just that for me and the atmosphere was perfect. We had a great evening and are planning our next visit :-)

Best takeaway curry in Leeds. Small inside and hard to find or park. Bring your own beers...there is a cash machine and offy just round the corner.Lamb keema absolutely incredible.Vegetarian options superb.Quick and cheap.Rice and breads not outstanding but the tasty unusual curries are a triumph. Hard to find anything wrong. Chili brinjal is amazing as is the potato curry. Hot stuff!

The food is very good and the service here is the friendliest I've come across in a long time. The atmosphere is buzzing and the value for money is amazing. Can't wait to return.

Sunday 4:40pm 30/04/17.The Chapatis came smelling of dough, under-cooked and tasted like slightly damp paper towelling.The Chom Chom main was swimming in Ghee, so much so I could have bathed a small child in it.The chicken was tasty however but, as I left I could feel the extra weight from the Ghee giving my gait a swing right to left.I would not go back.

1st time ive tried this place and only used the take away.Will have to try the restaurant now as it was very good.Looking forward too it.

Had tried to get in here on a previous visit to Leeds, so glad we made it this time!! Booking is essential. Helpful staff as I needed a gluten free diet. Delicious food and a great restaurant, take your own drink, lovely atmosphere. Will definitely return next time we are in Leeds.

I took 3 friends from Isreal for a meal at Masala Hut and they were very impressed with the meal saying how did you find this little gem it is amazing. I love the friendly waiters who really make your evening special and the owner always has a chat to you.I have never been disappointed at this restaurant. It is not licensed so if you want to drink alcohol you have to take it in.

We have been meaning to try this place for ages having had friends recommending it. We went for the Sunday night buffet which is great value. Poppadoms and pickle tray served to the table followed by a mixed starter, this included chicken tikka, samosa, mushroom pakora and lamb with salad. All of it super fresh and tasty. You are then served rice and naan bread to the table and help yourself to a selection of dishes. These included lamb, chicken and vegetable dishes, we managed to sample three of these which were all outstanding. We went for soft drinks but if you want alcohol it's "bring your own" which other diners had done. They were quick to bring out a wine cooler to a table who'd brought wine. It was fairly quiet when we were there, 5pm on a Sunday, and the service was quick and friendly. The food was absolutely outstanding, cannot wait to return and try the "normal" menu. Just wish we'd tried it sooner!

Had a take away this evening from Masala Hut. They delivered for free with our order (because it was over £10). The food was gorgeous. Really tasty. It cost us £32, for 3 of us. We had a curry each, a rice, and 2 types of naan as well as popadoms and pickles etc Lovely. So it's not go kerb appeal and you have to take your own beer but it's probably the best curry in this area and it has to be the best value. Staff are great and food top notch, it's our go to Indian restaurant. Just love it

Had dinner, late booking (8.45 pm). We got there at 8.40. The table we had allocated to us was occupied, diners already finished their meal but unwilling to leave. Didn't get seated till 9.30pm. Due to the very cramped space we had to wait outside & it was raining. Unsure why patrons are not told ahead of time that their seating has a time limit. However, staff were considerate & we had complimentary appetisers in form of poppadoms & saucesThe meals were amazing. Tasty, great value for money, & fast service. Staff were courteous & efficient once we were seated. Definitely recommend the food here

Visited this restaurant for the first time tonight with family bearing in mind it's only a 15 min walk from us. It is literally tucked away at the back of shops in the car park of Crossgates shopping centre. Our daughter had bought take away food from here before and said they were good so we gave it a try, we were pleasantly surprised! It only has about 45 covers and is in what used to be a hut hence the name. The menu is varied and different from alot of Indian restaurants we've been to. We had a mixed starter and a sizzling starter to share which was really good. Mains we had balti, chillie chicken, Karachi, korma and the vegetable rice was amazing as were the man breads. All the food was excellent. The service was very good and the staff were pleasant and attentive. The restaurant is not licensed but you can take your own drinks if you wish, soft drinks are available. On the whole would recommend this little gem will certainly return.

We had a underwhelming Saturday night Takeaway tonight from Masala Hut. We saw the good reviews so it was a certain that we were ordering from this place, and it began well, fast delivery, friendly delivery guy (except the fact we had to go outside out house to get it from the car) all was decent. We opened the meal, curry looked okay, opened the rice...didn't look like Pilau rice at all, I just thought 'well, they look different place to place'. We plate it up, I try a bit and the rice did not taste anything like Pilau rice, was clearly brown rice and tasted pretty horrible to be honest. The actual curry was decent (not superb) but...you couldn't complain. The naan was a little hard, poppadum's were fine....but overall the food wasn't great, please adjust your pilau rice or make sure you note down the customers order next time. Would I eat again? Probably not, wouldn't recommend.

Went to the Masala Hut on Sunday Jan 1st, booked it last minute and as there were 8 of us, considered myself lucky to get in. As it was Sunday, we were going for the buffet, to celebrate my birthday. As soon as we were seated the staff were very attentive and smiling. The pickle tray and starters were brought out, all freshly cooked and lovely, then the main courses are help yourselves. They bring you rice and naan breads to the table. The curries were excellent, several choices, lamb, chicken and vegetarian. Nothing was too much trouble, extra rice etc, anything you wanted. They also brought me out a cake and sang happy birthday, cheese I know but a nice surprise.All in all, a great time.

A former work colleague and I met up for a meal at this lovely little restaurant with good food and friendly staff.

Went last night with my mum for a mid week curry for the buffet night and it was the best curry we've had the staff we're excellent and our waiter Eshan delivered exceptional customer service deffo will make it a weekly thing! Thanks guys

Came here for a second time in a year on for business.Food great and service when bothered also good.Was seated promptly but sat for about 20 before going to the bar to ask for service and placing of my order.Food as I said was great but then my finished meal was left unattended for about 30 minutes while waiters walked past my table umpteen times.Simple basic service would get them 5 stars regularly.Com on guys, simple stuff

The best Indian in Cross Gates. You have to order as soon as they open on a Saturday for a takeaway and then collect. Not greasy, lovely flavour for all dishes. Will visit here every time we visit family.

Great little restaurant for any occasion, they do an excellent buffet night on Sundays which doesn't have a big selection but it's all good and the starters, ma'am and rice are made fresh for your table. The normal menu is as good as the bigger chains at a fraction of the price, service is friendly but remember to bring your own beer as it's not licenced

After having a disappointing visit last time we decided to return to give it another chance.We arrived soon after opening time and shown to our table.After having made our food choices we waited for 45 minutes for our starters to arrive which to be fair were very nice.There was plenty of activity from the kitchen with takeaway and delivery orders being taken care of which seemed to be taking preference over our order.The main courses arrived which were mainly all very good quality apart from one which had far too much salt added.If the service had been quicker it would have been a far more pleasurable experience .

Having enjoyed the Lamb tikka Dhansak so much on my first visit I ordered the same and it didn't disappoint. Fresh,finely spiced and plentiful food at a great price. Bring your own bottle of alcohol, the staff will bring you a bottle opener and glass if necessary. My friend ordered the chicken tikka dhansak and loved it equally. We had a good conversation with friendly staff member "D", thank you to him and chef quality for making it such a good experience again. See you again.
