Good Indian Restaurent very nearby to Madam Tussad Museum. Food was okish. Try for once.

Food is nothing great. It's pretty ordinary.

I would advise against eating here - my girlfriend and I had a terrible meal which we left and I have been unwell for 3 days after eating here, with my girlfriend also suffering in the days following. DO NOT EAT HERE.

We went for a pre-theatre meal. I liked the atmosphere. The menu selection was interesting. I went for Karahi gosht and mushroom basmati.

Hosted a group of 25+ people here. Felt absolutely embarrassed because of them. Firstly they were having some buffet style booking with people who were very loud & it was group after group after group. This was very unprofessional & uncomfortable for my party. Secondly the food was absolutely mediocre. It wasn’t done in the manner that I would liked. My party was Disoriented & the food wasn’t spread in the manner I would have have appreciated. The toilets were not nice at all. It all seemed very outdated. Listen to the 3 star rating.

I wonder if I was ill treated at this place because I am woman or an Indian or a Hindu. This is an extremely racist place. We went in there as part of our group tour. I asked for a bowl and the waiter said “ we don’t have bowls here. This is London not India”. I brought it to the manager and he did apologise. This was an extremely disheartening experience. I will never recommend this place to anyone. And after all this, the food was bad too.

Avoid!! Staff needs some serious etiquette training.

Asked for a clean cloth (as the one on the table was dirty) and they replaced it with another dirty cloth….. GROW UP!

The food is so delicious especially butter chicken and bread also the rice. We love it and i will come again. من السعوديه

As you can see in picture both curry named as chicken, but when I tasted one was chicken other one red meat . I am not supposed to eat red meat and when I asked the service man , he wasn’t apologetic Infact rude and very careless. Other vegetarian food in buffet is horrible with lots of sugar in curry . Very bad service. I am so upset that I was cheated with name plate chicken . Very bad if people don’t respect people faith . What food authority of London is doing .even after telling him he didn’t change name board saying don’t read it . The height of his argument and arrogance is what difference it will make both are non veg . I said respect faith of other region and walked out .

We were recommended this restaurant by a friend and we weren’t disappointed. The good, service and ambience was just to our taste. We shall most certainly be going again .

Been here before and loved the food. This time the customer service was good and attentive. However, food was disappointment for all of us. Only think that tasted decent was the mango lassi and the Nan. The rest either was not what they said it was on the menu and all tastes like it it was gone off and smelt bad.I really hope this is a one off as I really enjoyed coming here before.

Tempting Indian food you can find here in london but the service and timing is limited.

Booked Mumtaz India Restaurant online as going to Marylebone Theatre opposite for pre show dinner, the booking went pending reservation approval, I waited and waited, no approval from Mumtaz so called on the day and they took booking over phone. We arrived as they opened and only one other couple were there for the hour and 15 minutes so as large place left it as no atmosphere. The place has elaborate decor but looking little tired. The Staff were friendly and attentive. Couple of little mishap, not worth a mention. The food was fine and fairly priced except to me the Sagg paneer side at £9.50, it's only spinach and cheese. There is a sign of cash only, which we did pay cash but we don't carry much so they did say they had a card machine that they could try if we didn't have enough. Always supisus of large place that only want cash. They add 12.5% service charge. I wouldn't rush back.

Visited the place after a theater performance. Relatively cheap (£25 per person not taking wine) and very tasty. Can recommend their bryani and kashgari dishes. Very satisfying, will come more.

Avoid the mediocre restaurant. It served us disappointing and stale food. The desert served was already gone bad and the staff was not even bothered to check it before serving. Avoid at all costs.

Lovely atmosphere and very friendly but the food took a long while to arrive but when it, it was lovely!

We came on a whim after finding it hard to turn our eyes away from the 14.95 meal special! It was quiet inside but luckily that didn't put us off. All around we ended up with a post-park-walk quality meal for the price!

Not the most beautiful place from the outside. Food is abundant, excellent and fairly priced. I went past this restaurant for twenty years and never went in. One of my colleagues who needed to take Marylebone train suggested we meet there. I am glad I went. This is a hidden jewel for the Baker Street area.

Came here on Tuesday evening, restaurant was nice & quiet (no cricket on at lords) Food was excellent! Had a chicken tikka Dansak, pilau rice / spinach & potatoes / garlic Nan Beautiful spices… loved everything I’ll be back on Saturday.. I’ve found a good Indian right here Thank you. 5 stars

Went there with friends as it is conveniently a short walk from Baker St tube and Marylebone stations, also Lords cricket ground. Waited over an hour for someone to take our order, despite repeatedly asking, then when it eventually arrived some of the order was missing, rice and some dishes were cold, poppadoms were very greasy, and we still had no drinks!. The service was just awful, never going there again.

I ate a lamb curry there nearly a week ago and am still seriously unwell (which started the next day), now with nausea and diarrhea, haven't been abel to eat really at all since then. I would strongly advise not to eat there as their hygiene must be seriously bad.

Awful food. I'm sorry to say this but don't waste your time and money entering this place. Every dish was bland and lacked salt or seasoning. Was very disappointing. The wooden seat benches near the window were hard and sloped at an angle. The ambience non existent and the whole place was dated and run down. The waiters were terrible and we were left for long periods of time. We left the food uneaten and I would suggest getting a new qualified cook or close down! Nice location but one of the worst Indian restaurants I have had the misfortune to eat in. Zero stars!!!

I don’t know why the ratings are so low! Although the food came out slow everyone was very polite! Mumtaz masala was definitely my favorite. I tried other famous indian restaurants but honestly this was so much better. I came back for the second time on the next day

We were staying nearby and recommended this restaurant by our hotel. They cooked us dishes we asked for not on the menu, and nothing was not too much trouble. Service was attentive, food excellent and we will go again if nearby.

The food was amazing, you need to book in advance as it is always full with a waiting queue.

They had only two people serving. And one of them was very ill mannered. Most of the dishes we had felt very average/not upto the mark. The only dish I would suggest having would be kadhai chicken.

I recently organised a group dinner here. All the dishes were lovely. My Mums honey lamb chops were particularly good! The food came sizzling to the tables. Like the fact that as well as the food the decor is Indian themed! Would recommend.

Really delicious food, amazing service. Staff were really friendly and always one step ahead of our needs. Really felt at home and will 100% be back! Defo recommended for a decent priced (considering you’re right by regents) feast! Thank you!!

Taste is very mild and all dishes are made British people. If you want to eat proper India food than don't go to this place.

Food was fine but took ages to come. Multiple other tables who arrived later than me got their food first. I think they forgot about my order.

I booked this restaurant for my brother Memorial dinner as he passed away Christmas from covid. There were 13 of us in total. I rang to confirm but they didn’t seem to have the booking, the waiter was so rude on the phone and said he didn’t care whether this was a memorial or not that the party was too big. Sent an email which was then confirmed. Thought I would check on the day and there was still some confusion. The food was good but the service was so bad. The waiter taking the order was making uncalled for comments under his breath and being rude to even the old generation. He had no patience and so my brother asked him what his problem was. At the end of the night, even though they got some of the order wrong and we had already paid for starters, mains and sides before hand, they got the bill wrong. Claiming most had two starters each and so forth. The restaurant was empty and now I know why. I nearly cancelled but this was my brother that passed favourite restaurant in past and I used to take friends here for big birthdays. It has definitely gone downhill. It’s a shame because it’s just this one man who ruined the whole evening.

Excellent quality north Indian/Mughalai Indian food with good diversity of dishes. Flat breads are all freshly prepared and have a fresh from the oven taste. Nice ambience too. Clean and well maintained toilets. The place was not too crowded for lunch either, probably because there isn't a whole lot of parking space nearby. Probably gets crowded for dinner. Good standard of service seen the two times I've been there.

I've never been to such a lame restaurant in London. The service was too slow and the food wasn't upto mark. I won't recommend to eat at this place at all. Such a wastage of time and money.

It was just a waste of time and money. Very slow service even if it wasn’t busy at all. Taste of the food is so bad. Will recommend a one pound burger of McD rather than this.

Gave them a ring prior to attending, told the guy that I would be redeeming the meerkat offer. He told me that my table was booked. Once we arrived he told us we couldn't redeem the Meerkat offer despite it being a Sunday. He told us that he would accept Groupon.. Bought the Groupon as we were starving. Once food arrived it lacked taste and there was little meat in the meat dishes. No toilet paper in the toilets. The guy serving us felt it necessary to stand over us telling us about how a sheikh had booked the whole restaurant for his wives, meanwhile our food was getting cold. Would definitely not return here. Poor service and poor quality food

They are frauds. This is not mumtaz. The man who owned it watched me and tried to start conversations with me while I was eating. I made it obvious that he was annoying me and tried to get him to leave a few times, but he kept talking to me and even sat at my table with me. Never going back smh waste of money

It's been consistently good for over 50 years, (booked it for my parents' silver wedding anniversary 1986) and never let us down.

Food was OK, staff unfortunately wernt great at all and one waiter was actually quite rude :(

I went to Mumtaz for the first time for my birthday with friends and honestly it was such a great experience! Amazing food with amazing service and great vibes! Definitely recommend it for a family/friends evening meal! Andrew was so lovely to us all evening and had amazing service! He also went out his way to get me a candle and dessert when he found out it was my birthday! Definitely made the highlight of my night! Can’t fault the place one bit! Thank you Andrew for your service again! You’re a star!!! 💯

We have been coming here for more than 2 years as regulars and I can honestly say it is my favourite place to eat Indian in UK. Keep up the good work please!

No customer service, would not recommend

Customer service very poor. Staff like angry man.

This used to be a gem - if you've visited years before. But it has slipped off a cliff. Do not be fooled by what looks like attractive prices - you will get a low budget experience. As so many other reviewers have said, service starts off painfully slow. Nearly 50 minutes for two small starters to arrive (there were only 8 other people in the restaurant). And then another 45 minutes for the main dishes. Every time we chased, they kept saying 'food coming'. And when it did arrive - well, what a disappointment. The Mumtaz Masala was 5 small cubes of chicken in an Uncle Ben's sauce. Lukewarm and flavourless. The Karahi Gosht was advertised as sizzling - again barely warm. A small issue on being overcharged turned into an excuse for two staff to be very rude. The decor in the photos makes it looks elegant - as it was in 1989. But now it's a relic, and extinction must be near. Avoid.

Lots of favour. But definitely not cook to the Asian standard. To much oil not much meat. This is not the standard thay had back in day in Bradford. Its like mass production food now.

We arranged a family birthday party in the main area of the restaurant for 24 people, on Sunday 29th, the manager and the excellent staff helped make the event a fantastic experience and one to remember for a long time, thank you Team Mumtaz

Nice Experience but bit expensive

The long wait was not worth it as the food we ordered, every single item was below par. Disappointed.

On a previous visit we were impressed by the food, service and atmosphere at the Mumtaz. During a trip to nearby Lord's cricket ground, we booked a table of 4 for lunch on a Friday afternoon. There was only one other table occupied, so no buzz at all. Our food was OK but with slower than expected service, considering the lack of customers. One of the wags with us suggested they'd called the chef in from home last minute! Were we unlucky or has this place gone downhill?

We walked it at 9.22 and got our food at 10.30 Having been the first people to enter the door, our drinks took over 20 minutes to arrive. Two of which did not come and one of which they did not have. Once we replaced it with lemondade it took another 15 minutes to bring. We ordered the food when the drinks arrived and had to wait another hour. Once arrived everything was unbelievably spicey which was not mentioned on the menu (including a chicken tika masala) As well as this they did not provide two of us with folks till after the food was served and plates came after too. I wish I could give zero stars!

Very tasty dishes, good service

Poor food, weak service and outdated styling The food quality was to a very poor standard, which left us hugely displeased. Failed to bring multiple dishes with our meal that we never actually saw. The service was very slow and the staff can be simply unresponsive. Despite the seemingly appealing appearance from the outside, inside it is tacky and outdated - establishment is in need of a make over

Had a takeaway delivery on Saturday night food was a little oily but good unfortunately the Rogan gosh did not have one tomato in it like to see what the restaurant has to say.

Amazing food. It's all fresh and full of flavour. My fav dish is the karahi gosht.perfrct blend of being hot and layers of flavour. Definitely try the peshwari naan as well. I've lived up the road from here and didn't go until recently and I've been more than pleasantly surprised. The staff are great too.

I thought the food was tasty,they do try and make it a little more better than the usual dishes.We got the lamb Sindhi Biryani which was nice and fluffly,not your usual tomatey mush you sometimes get,lots of methi and other spices added to depth of...

We went as a group to this restaurant and I have to compliment their staff. They are very attentive ensuring you have everything you need. We enjoyed all the starters so much we were pretty much full by the time it came to mains. The naan bread wasn’t my favourite (I prefer it more doughy) but we enjoyed the rest of the food a lot. I would recommend the Dahi Puri (starter) and the Lamb Passanda. We would go back again.
