I had dinner here with a friend the other night. The food was the best Indian food I have had in ages. A real 5/5 in my opinion. Service and ambience very good, too. Prices reasonable.

Recently renamed - but so different, the coriander was a fine Indian restaurant but the Mayura offers something really really good. Much smaller menu, more expensive but boy. The food is amazing. We had the lamb biriyani and a chicken masala. The lamb came cooked in traditional way with a pie crust - making the rice and lamb so moist and tasty. On the side we had the black lentil daal which was superb. Oh, and the poppadoms and sauces were just fab. Go go go! I’ll be back

Walked past it loads of times but never been in. Restaurant is downstairs, tables are cozy and it’s nut king since a refurb. Friendly welcome, good service, good priced wine list and a good menu. It had a the standard/classic curries but also excellent specials - went for the Noorjahani lamb and chicken beguni with pilau and garlic naan. The naans were perfect, hot, garlicky and puffed up. The mains were really good too, loved the aubergine with chicken. Definitely will be back - a great curry place in the heart of the city (why the hell I’ve never been here before is beyond me!)

We were 6 and arrived at 6 - we ate a lot of fish - prawns and the Bangladeshi fish curry . One of our party is keen on hot chillis and told us you couldn't get the type he liked - the waiter's challenged him and the house one when a plate of the hottest chillies, arrived at the table. Beer is seriously cheap - cheaper than in the pubs. The service was friendly and attentive - there were no waits and we stayed at our table over three hours. No nasty music, good decor and excellent air conditioning - we didn't find the basement setting off putting, I dropped an earplug and went back the next day hoping to find it. The waiters had it behind the bar and presented it to me gleefully. Sums up the quality of the place. This is not the most prepossessing of restaurants , but it should be on your shortlist if dining on the western side of the City of London,

We visit here often as have friends who live near by. Usually we enjoy our evenings, however tonight we were met with little to no service and wait staff who scowled for most of the night and threw our cutlery on the table. The food is nice (we have never had an issue with that) however considering the prices it is quite disgusting how bad the service is. We also had issues ordering and could not find anyone to order from for quite some time. One of the waiters was nice and apologised after we mentioned how disappointed we were but there was no compensation nor was there an improvement. I doubt we will return, there is no excuse for rude wait staff and the food isn't amazing enough to put up with it! A real shame.

Tried this place recently. We thought all the curries were pretty tasty but were A bit disappointed by the quality of the meats. The chicken was dry. Red meats fatty. The portions were also quite small for the price.

We thought we would try this restaurant close to the office. Indian with Bangladeshi and Nepali dishes on the menu as well. We ordered Onion Bhajia (they call it Bhaji, not oily), Sag Paneer (good), Coconut Rice (sweet), Prawn Biryani (tasteless, with boiled prawns, served with a mixed vegetable curry - surprisingly good), Moong Daal (insipid), Sula Salmon (tandoori, tolerable), Aloo Parantha (thick as a paperback) and ordinary paranthas (edible). Overall extremely underwhelming. Service was good.

The good news first - the poppadoms were light, crisp and fresh , and the beer was nicely chilled. But the rest of the meal.... oh dear! The chicken tikka masala tasted like plain chicken pieces, devoid of any flavour, and the peshwari naan arrived towards end of meal and when it had cooled down sufficiently tasted like a plain naan....

The restaurant is located at the Barbican close to St Paul’s and the London museum. Crunchy poppadoms and good pickle tray. Onion bhaji was very nice and crispy. Prawn balti and chicken balti, naan bread also good. Used Meerkat meal 2-4-1 so the bill was £45 inc a couple of drinks each.

After reading the contrasting reviews thought I'd visit to form my own opinion, and having visited I can kind of reconcile the varying opinions. I love my indians and have visited many in london where i work on business. I visited just after opening on a tuesday, so probably first guest of the evening. no-one was on reception so just headed downstairs to the restaurant. I was met and seated quickly; so here is the first clarification, the staff aren't warm and cuddly, but they aren't nasty either, they are just efficient and do the job, if you engage them you do get a bit of banter back but I can understand why people could find them 'cold'. service was efficient, place was clean with pleasant decor. Had popadoms which came with pickle tray (extra 80p each) but both good quality. skipped starters but had chicken madras and lamb rogan from the traditional menu and saag aloo side with pillau rice and plain naan. all currys were good, I've eaten spicier madras but it was a good tasty dish. the naan deserves a call out as it was excellent. prices for the traditional dishes were average for central london (some of the other dishes on the menu looked a little pricy) and they added a 10% optional service charge to the bill. In summary, was good experience and will definitely visit again.
