We happened upon this place when walking up Morningside Road to meet my son. It's cute inside and was obviously well-patronised by locals, as well as visitors which is always a good recommendation. Staff were friendly and attentive and service was prompt. Along with a selection of teas, coffees, smoothies and cold drinks, there is an array of cakes and traybakes on offer (not sure if they are made in-house) along with sandwiches, paninis, toasties, wraps and homemade soup. We each had a bowl of tasty tomato and basil soup accompanied by a satisfying toastie and we were both very happy with our chance lunch experience at Mugs. We'd happily recommend!

I have visited Mugs several times now and need to let people know what a lovely cafe this is. The quality of the food, the friendly and good service, the cleanliness - all are superb. An absolute gem of a cafe just beside the Post Office and opposite the Churchill Theatre.

There's a good selection of cakes, pastries, hot and cold sandwiches etc and the service is very friendly and helpful. It's not as cramped as some places, so you have a bit more space to yourself. This is a very good alternative to the usual busy places in that area and one I'd choose first, now that I know it's there.

So we were looking for somewhere to eat, 5 of us plus 2 dogs and had been turned down at various places but Mugs welcomed us with open arms and provided water for the dogs straight away. The food was COMPLETELY DELICIOUSLY DELIGHTFULLY Wonderful we cannot recommend it highly enough! Great decor inside as well with the Alice in Wonderland theme. Great fun. We'll be back and thank you!

Coffee here was great. Wasn't all that hungry (sadly) so had a toastie each. Exactly what we wanted and at a good price! Great selection of savouries and cakes. Can't wait to go back. Friendly staff who really care about what they're doing. Seems more like a bistro than your typical café. Merci beaucoup!

I literally cannot fault this outstanding friendly family run café. I keep coming back because they never put a foot wrong. They serve a wide range of food to suit all tastes. They have made themselves completely Covid-19 compliant which is very reassuring in these uncertain times during the global pandemic. Just love this place: highly recommended!

Went in on a busy Saturday, had some coffees and blueberry cake - both were absolutely delicious. Great selection of different treats, and plant-based milk options available. Had a nice, quiet corner table to study at, and the service was very friendly although a bit slow but that was probably due to the busy time we chose. Definitely recommend and would visit again, a unique little place and much rather prefer this over a generic Costa.

There are many cafes in Bruntsfield and Morninside - we've tried them all and this is our favourite. Great coffee, croissants, home - baked cakes. Run by a friendly family. And very reasonable prices.

Popped in here as the window cake display looked fantastic, when in fact the whole menu was just what we fancied!! Amazing bacon & mushroom bun, beans on toast for our little ones all followed with Crepes & Nutella and a slice of cake. Flat white coffee was gorgeous and the books were a lovely addition for our girls. On top off all this the service was impeccable and the prices very very reasonable. Its a no-brainer that'll we'll be back soon :)

Dropped in here for a bite of lunch since I was in the area and tempted by their hog roast meal deal. Didn't need the potato crisps in the deal as the hog roll was delicious and so filling. I asked if they had any apple sauce for the pork not being a fan of spicy sauce and the chef MADE a French apple puree for me. That's great personal service. Delightful French family run little cafe that is family friendly with books for kids and newspapers for mum & dad. Worth a visit for a leisurely coffee or a restful lunch.

My friend and I stopped at Mugs for a lunchtime bowl of soup, as I had previously gone there with my husband and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff are very friendly and the soup is fantastic! Would maybe try a cake next time?! Very reasonable, as a large bowl of soup is only £3.50 and it is served with sourdough bread, which is delicious.

I live in Fife, so the choice of eating places in Edinburgh is a minefield. Without doubt 'Mugs' is the best cafe I have ever been to in Edinburgh. I loved this wee place! We were lucky enough to sit on the gorgeous comfy couch, the service was lovely and the food was to die for! I could have stayed longer but sadly the timescale of my parking ticket meant we had to leave, but we will without doubt return! The Mad Hatter/Alice in Wonderland theme was fab too!

This was morning coffee at a new cafe in Morningside/Bruntsfield, near the Churchhill Theatre. We were warmly welcomed by the owner who was helpful and attentive throughout. We ordered coffees which were delicious, together with freshly baked fruit scones with jam and butter. It was a very pleasant experience. The whole menu looked tempting. There’s a lot of competition in this area, but hopefully they’ll do very well.

This is my new favourite cafe in Morningside/Bruntsfield. Breakfast - amazing! Lunch - delicious! Afternoon coffee and cake - fabulous! A really lovely family run cafe with great choices throughout the day. Today my partner had the special pulled pork burrito for lunch whilst I had the tasty homemade butternut squash soup. The owner slow roasts his own pork for 12hrs to a Texan recipe and it’s sooo juicy. Every time i visit I take away raspberry cake for dessert at home the next day. If you haven’t been here you’re missing out!

What a find - a family run cafe, filled with amazing food, home baked goods, and bang on coffee. Mom, Dad and son are all there to provide a wonderful meal, great coffee and all around good experience. We recently moved to Edinburgh and have now been back many times - the food and company is that good - they all take such pride in their food and it is a joy to support a local cafe. The pulled pork is amazing and he tells me it cooks for 30 hours to get like this! As a personal note, we moved here from California and miss a good burrito. He has both breakfast and lunch burritos that are as good as you can get this far from home.

Feeling damp and hungry on a drizzly summer morning, I decided to try this new-ish little cafe in Morningside. The breakfast burritos sounded good - and tasted even better ! The coffee was good too . There were some quite unusual traybakes , available to sit-in or take away , so I took home the oat and chocolate slice for the family - also delicious Great place for comfort food and the service was good - quiet , pleasant staff. I will be back ....

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed the first class lunch served to us at the Wednesday Lunch Club in The Gift Tree Corstorphine. Started with a delicious Amuse Bouche. Followed with cheese and broccoli quiche. Served with baked potato and coleslaw. Pudding was a scrumptious berry crumble with custard. Together with a hot drink. Excellent value!

This is a church cafe run by volunteers. It says it is an outreach cafe and an asset to the community - but this is hardly the case when the prices are off putting and more expensive than most cafes run as businesses. A very poor cappuccino cost £3.40 and my baked potato was nearly £8. It is set up in a church hall and the volunteers are pleasant but not exactly efficient (my baked potato was left on an adjacent table until I asked where it was). All the members of our table had their food delivered at different times so some were finished before others had started (we ordered together).
