Went here for my husband's birthday on a Wednesday night for the first time. We were 4 adults and a baby and the service was truly excellent. The meal was delicious and we were saying how we never would have thought to come here had it not been recommended, due to it being a little out of the way. My husband and I are vegetarian and found there were plenty of options for us to choose from. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside. The toilets are a little dated, but clean, which is all that matters. I can't wait to come back!

Pick up service is always delayed. Food is nice

Booked a table for 3 of us (men) for a catch up and more of a open chat to check in with a friend going through abit of a tough time so thought this was a perfect meeting point for all. This isn’t the first time visiting this place either so know how ive been treated by the staff beforehand and its fair to say that after tonight i will not be returning. When first arrived,we were held at the front waiting for a table when other customers just arrived and sat straight down and greeted more welcoming than we were. Then we sat down,drinks took a while. Then food came, food was ok. More annoyingly we were in deep chat and 4 times by a different staff member kept asking if we had finished. We hadn’t as we were still picking and talking. In the end i gave in and wasted my food and told them to take it just to get them away from us and stop asking. Making us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Not good. Not happy and waste of food.

Order food for collection Saturday evening, picked up after a longer than planned wait which isn’t their fault as these things happen. Got home & tucked in to the meal which wasn’t anything special, then about 01:30am The stomach craps started & I have been violently sick ever since. 100% food poisoning, I have had to miss work today & I know I’ll have to miss work tomorrow as I’m so unwell. Cold sweats, D+V the lot. Will not be using them again & wouldn’t recommend that anyone does due to the fact I have been so unwell. Customer service in there is very good & the atmosphere is also usually good but after this occasion we will not be using them again.

Ate here for the first time today with a mate. Arrived 6pm for opening, didn't think to book and got a table but surprised how quickly it filled up, sign of a good restaurant. Service was prompt and polite. Food was amazing with some interesting menu choices I haven't seen before. Will definitely return

Not only the best Indian in the area but probably the world !!

Had my 35th birthday celebration here as its a favourite for my husband & myself. We tried something different from what we usually get & we're pleasantly surprised with the flavour. We never get disappointed my the quality here. Staff are always friendly & happy to help.

Visited on a Sunday evening - warm welcome, lovely restaurant and everywhere clean and tidy. We were seated in a booth, which was lovely and the staff were friendly and attentive. Had an absolutely lovely meal, food great and if I lived nearer (I’m 180 miles away) it would definitely be one of my regulars. Recommend giving it a try, we both really loved it.

Our family used to love this place, the staff always very helpful and food was amazing. Very bad customer service from Asad one of the “partners”. I’m afraid you’ve lost regular customers.

Delicious Bhuna & great service. If you sit by the window tables it’s worth mentioning they had ceiling fans above our table which were put on while we were enjoying poppadoms & they almost all flew away. It was rather hilarious but if I’d lost any poppadoms I’d be so sad haha

Excellent food and great service. It is always great to visit this restaurant with a great atmosphere. It is well worth a visit for an enjoyable evening. Good value for money.

Driven past this loads never been in so we thought we’d try it . Inside was a lovely ambience . The service we received was attentive and really friendly . The menu wasn’t as big as a usual curry house but plenty to choose from . The fiod was out standing. We will defiantly return and can’t wait to take friends there.

Very disappointed with our take away. Vegetable dish was accompanied by a few potatoes in a sauce. I couldn’t see any other vegetables.

Lovely Indian restaurant on the A48 before Cowbridge. The food is so nice and fresh and the service from the staff was fantastic. This was my second visit and the place was as busy as the first time so it's popular. Definitely worth a visit if you haven't been before.

My favourite Indian in this area !! Absolutely amazing food I can definitely recommend the Haryali Murgh Masala we have this as a sharer in the middle and my fav main is the ginger chicken. Poppadom and dips lovely and fresh.

First time ordering a takeaway from the Mughal. Food was delicious with decent sized portions. However, considering one of us has an allergy and we'd made this known when placing the order by asking about ingredients... the restaurant omitted to label any of the dishes, which is a little bit careless in my opinion. Otherwise all okay.

Absolutely the best 👌 I've used the mughal now in the last few years on a regular basis and never had a bad meal the boys are so polite the restaurant is spotlessly clean . It's a 10 out of 10 .. Ty.you lads.. 10**********

Food was ok, staff very friendly but restaurant was absolutely Baltic, it was so cold couldn’t enjoy my food. Complained several times about how cold it was and staff brushed it under the carpet.

Correspondingly, it is an in the extreme anticipatory thrill 2 see just now this most highly of all evocative Mughlai dishes STILL amongst the MANY aforementioned quintessential cuisine culinary delights of the Mughal Emperor’s state of the art out of this world online real time mains menu. Good Indian restaurant. Very busy when we were there on Sat night. Not sure I would go again as nothing special about it but maybe a reliable staple for Cowbridge crowd.

First time at the Mughal Emperor Indian Restaurant and how lovely it was. I was made very welcome our table was booked for 7.00 pm and everything was ready for the party. Food was very good, service was excellent and atmosphere was lovely. There was no rushing you to get out of the restaurant, everything was relaxed and lovely. I would recommend. They also do take away meals but you have to pick meals up yourself. So time to have a drink if you are waiting for the food you ordered. Nice sitting area by the bar where you can enjoy a drink.

Restaurant was so busy which impacted on the food and service, we had the same meal a few weeks ago when the restaurant was quiet and it was wonderful same meal last night was dreadful what a shame

We came as a group for a family celebration, the staff were great and had no problem with me putting up balloons etc. The atmosphere is good and the serving staff were all very friendly and attentive. I don't like to be negative but several of our party found the food lacking in taste, the korma in particular was absolutely tasteless . The tandoori chicken main ordered was dry and a very small portion . Everyone else felt that they had the same sauce ,but with a different name . Wouldn't really recommend for the food, but the staff were great .

Thought it would be empty at 6 pm but thank goodness we booked - the restaurant was full within an hour! Great service and and delicious food! We will definitely be returning!! Thank-you.

Been coming here since I was a child, now 26 still come here yearly. Excellent food combined with a lovely clean atmosphere. No complaints, however I will add that the garlic naan is lacking in flavour. Almost looks as if they use ‘Very lazy garlic’ and tastes like it too. Definitely not a bad naan just would be better to taste the garlic more!

Very welcoming ended up spotting this Indian restaurant on a trip back from Porthcawl along the a48. Very last minute and late we were the last in the restaurant before closing service was amazing aswell as the food. We will be planning a specific trip just to come here because of this. Very reasonably priced aswell as this which is also a bonus

The food was good but the service was top notch. Accommodated a party of 15, all food delivered at the same time and no fuss. Staff were only too happy to sort out our birthday cake and candles. A family favourite

We called in here on the way home from the airport, we'd just got back from Kos and we hadn't eaten since breakfast so we were starving. The food was fabulous,the staff friendly. My husband said it was the best curry he'd had in a long time.

Rude owner! We were told our food would be ready at 8.10 and when we arrived they had ‘lost the order’ kept us waiting until 9 and didn’t apologise or seem to care in the slightest.

Absolutely amazing food, great service and a beautiful restaurant. I had never been before but the standard of service, restaurant appearance, cleanliness etc were incredibly impressive and that was before I tried the food. The meal was amazing we tried varied menu choices and we were all exceptionally impressed. Can't wait to go back again... thank you all at Mughal for an amazing evening and wonderful food x

I definitely won't be ordering from here again. The chicken Tikka Starter we received had 6 tiny pieces of chicken in a pot a little bigger than a grape which were dry.. different curry's ordered but tasted the same & so hot I felt like I was trying to eat a vindaloo... Definitely food gone down hill at this restaurant.

Slow to take the order and the pineapple juice that was served was gone off. The food was tastey and will eat again there. The place was cold even with jumpers on so next time will wesr more layers.

Nice decor, pleasant staff & clearly v popular - but the food was so poor. The chicken pieces with the biriani were hard & overcooked & came with a small bowl of strange bright red sauce nothing like normal curry. In my veggie biriani sauce there were a few small pieces of potato & nothing else & it had a strange glutinous conistency - it didnt look or taste like any curry I’ve ever had previously. We won’t be returning

Delicious food in lovely, bright surroundings. Went here for a birthday meal and we weren't disappointed. The waiter helped us choose something to our liking and he was spot on! Fantastic meal and needless to say I'll be back. Excellent.

Clean airy atmosphere. Pleasant friendly staff. Unfortunately food poor. Starters were bland. I order special chicken dish which turned out to be tandoori chicken pieces added to a mediocre sauce a bit gooey. My wife had prawn Korma tasteless with bullet prawns. So would not be returning here….

We are fairly regular visits to The Mughal but on Saturday evening we had my parents' with me as we were celebrating my dad's birthday. Absolutely faultless. The ambience of the restaurant is beautiful and the staff are very polite and friendly (so smart too). We ordered a variety of favourites and all courses were well spaced. Some might have felt the wait between courses was excessive but this just helped us prolong our lovely family evening together as well as to allow the food to go down between each course. Our order included starters of onion bhajees, sheek kebab and lamb samosas and main courses of ginger chicken, chicken dopiaza, lamb dopiaza and chicken balti. The nan was perfectly crispy, burnt just as I requested and the rice was light and fluffy. We really couldn't find fault in anything and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We also felt that considering the amount of food/drink we ordered the bill was surprisingly reasonable. We had anticipated a larger bill and were pleasantly surprised. Can't wait to return. Only problem is that it makes me not want to visit any of the other restaurants locally. Stunning !!

waited 20 minutes for drinks - waited another 15 minutes for popadoms arrived at 7.30pm received our starters at 9.00pm !!we were a group of 5 every plate of food was cold bar one that came on a griddle was a birthday treat couldn’t even justify leaving a tip - first time ever will not revisit & will certainly not recommend should have left after the starters to enjoy the evening elsewhere very disappointing

From the outside it looks a bit remote, but when you enter it's a beautifully furnished restaurant with a stylish feel. The waiters are smartly presented and thoroughly professional. I went with family so we tried a few dishes between us and they were all delicious. I had the Sheek Kebab to start which was lovely and fresh and beautifully presented, I also tried the Kind Prawn Sukka, which was really tasty. For a main course I had Butter Chicken, very yummy and incredibly moreish, with Special Fried Rice and Peshwari Nan, all good. There was a bit of a wait between starters and main course, but it was worth it for the quality of the food. We went on a Tuesday and the restaurant was very busy, and had a steady stream of takeaway orders coming out of the kitchen. If I lived locally I would definitely go again, one of the best Indian Restaurants in the UK, in my opinion.

Mixed starter dry bland just terrible. The Bhuna was sweet and loaded with onions chicken was bland not even marinaded? Just lacking effort and flavour in general.

This used to be our go to Indian Restaurant and used to highly rate this place. We visited this weekend and whilst the service was very good and restaurant very clean, the food we ordered was far from memorable. The jalfrezi was mild and quite watery in texture, not think and full of flavour and heat. The Balti was nice, however was not the best Balti we have had. Overall lacking flavour and depth. Shame it's not as good as it used to be.

We visited for a meal with friends, the restaurant was recommended to us and it was everything we expected from what we had been told.We arrived and were taken to our table quite quickly. The waiting staff were friendly and quick to take orders and deliver the food and drinks.The food was excellent all of our group were really impressed with the taste of all the dishes and there was ample food everyone.The restaurant was really clean and looked stunning, toilets were really clean which is a reflection on how the rest of the restaurant is kept in my opinion.A really great night out

I had to write a review because we almost didn’t eat here as the latest reviews were sketchy and not many recent ones, but we decided to anyway and so glad we did!Firstly, the inside is lovely, very clean modern and welcoming.Our food was delicious honestly the best Indian we’ve had for a long time and can’t wait to come back we will be regulars!!Please just try it and judge for yourselves.

Very disappointing takeout tonight. Just ordered the basic......chicken tikka masala, pilau rice, tarka dall. The dall was quite good but the masala was tasteless, watery and nothing like a masala. Poppadoms were not fresh and onion bhajis were dry and tasteless. Such a shame for a restaurant so nicely presented. The premises are spotless, staff friendly and ambience lovely....but tonight, the food failed big time, sadly.

As an Asian person this was the most disgusting meal I have ever had. The food was bland and seemed to have had starchy gravy poured over it - glutinous. Prawns were translucent as if they had just been got out of the freezer, chicken tasted as if it was several days old.On tasting the first bite I threw up.

Phoned to order large £75 take away. Asked for mushrooms adding to my curry. Refused by the member of staff who told me the manager has told him not to take any amendments to any dishes, the words used were he had been ordered not to. Asked to speak to the manager, this was declined. Went elsewhere and had a very nice meal, no going back for us. Poor customer service, I am no Gordon Ramsay but putting some mushrooms in a curry ain’t the most challenging task! Real shame.

Had food here a couple of weeks back. I had booked and it was the last day of eat out to help out. Waited an hour and a half to be seated. Food was ok. Staff very friendly. The inside is lovely much bigger than it looks.

Always a fabulous meal here. Great service and nicely set up with hand sanitizer at the entrance. Very tasty meal. I had the chicken sagg and kema rice. Both was lovely. Will be returning.

Myself and a work friend visited last night for a meal and chat. Starters was chicken haralayi and shami kebabs...both really good..followed by butter chicken, chicken jalferezi, special rice, pilau rice and a shared garlic naan....food was served quickly with lots of meat..good portions..my jalferezi could have done with some more chunky oniins,peppers and chillies, but lots of meat and all very tasty...would return with no qualms...

Had a Takeaway and wife was sick two hours after eating it. Food was average, and was a bit lacking in flavour.

Ordered a takeaway due to the current Covid situation. Had to wait another 40 minutes on top of scheduled time. Order was in excess of forty pounds, all vegetarian, but nothing was any better than average to be honest.

Wow! We found out that Mughal are now offering a delicious delivery service during COVID outbreak.Food was awesome, really lovely! It was delivered in a box, in mini takeaway boxes, ready for you to serve on your plate.Absolutely faultless and perfect service!And... this is our favourite local Indian!I've attached a photo of my food on my on my own plate. A chicken korma, rice, peshwari naan and poppadoms. Oh yes and lovely vegetable samosa.Really friendly service too Thank you, stay safe!

If you are in the area and fancy a curry , then think no more! This place will suit just that taste bud. Great ambience, lovely staff and perfect food.

There is nothing to mark the Mughal emperor out from thousands of other curry restaurants around the country. You will get a good meal but don't expect anything stand out or that makes you really want to go back.

Absolutely not what you'd expect when looking at it from the outside. The interior decor is stunning! Makes for a really nice atmosphere. The food is great too, and reasonably priced. The only negative was the tikka is a bit TOO spicy considering it's generally a go-to for people who don't like the more spicy curries.

Will never visit again ! Found a very long hair in our food and the staff were extremely rude when we raised the issue, we have been here many times and spent a lot of money here so very upset with this situation and how it was handled. Also after seeing the article online regarding a very poor hygiene rating recently and a large fine for poor food hygiene practice very worrying !

Visited again this week. The quality of the food, the level of service and the ambience remain at the excellent standard that has been maintained for so long.

We visit the Mughal on a weekly basis as a couple / family or take out, the food is always full of flavour, the staff are happy, friendly and welcoming, great atmosphere but the high point is always the food, you can’t beat the quality, taste and presentation. Thank you we will see you next week.

I have been visiting the Mughal Emperor since I was 18 years old. I am now 42 and I have never had a bad meal there once. I visited the restaurant yesterday and had my Favourite Chicken Jalfrezi. The restaurant is highly recommended and is the best around.

Every time we go there the food never fails us. The manager Asaf and his staff give us excellent service. I strongly recommend it to anyone.

Been wanting to come here for a while what a disappointment tasteless and overpriced wont be returning

Gutted to say tonights take away meal was poor..Luke warm at best.. We had a madras/ korma and a butter chicken with Nans and poppadum's and rice..Not enough meat to sauce ratio..For the price we paid i would have expected more meat per dish..Poor show Mughal!!

Arrived one night in the middle of the week. Restaurant was relatively busy.

I think this restaurant survives on its location and decor, If you look past this actualy the cuisine is standard Indian fair, And as far as the service goes that again is average at best and on our visit last week frankly was very poor, And no it was not busy I saw diners taking plates back to the kitchen not sure why>> and waiters bumping in to each other trying to avoid diners plea full looks of service please.

Visited this restaurant with friends. Would recommend booking as it was really busy on a Saturday night. It's on the outskirts of Cowbridge with a strange negotiation of the road if you're travelling from the Bridgend direction, but worth the hassle. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was very, very good. The meat was tender and the dishes very tasty. I had the fish curry which was superb. Highly recommended. We will be returning soon.

This restaurant never seems to be anything other that a great place to visit. The food and service last night were first class. I have been a number of times and I am always impressed the consistently high standard they achieve. Superb.

We just love the Mughal Emporer. The service is exceptional and food is tremendous value. There is a well-chosen wine selection that is also good value. We can eat out regularly here without it breaking the bank! !

The service and environment are always friendly and welcoming. This is a busy restaurant that becomes crazily busy at peak times with eat-in and take-away. Fantastic curries - consistently good quality.
