A lovely evening with very tasty food and generous portions. We had a wide selection of dishes - highlights being the tarka dal and the rogan josh. Beautiful rice, roti and naan. Plenty of advice and patience and good humour from our exceptional server Moon.

We went on a whim one night with friends for the evening offer menu - 2 courses for £20. Portions were very generous indeed, and the food was amazing. Choices were very good, too. We frequent high end restaurants, and honestly I can't wait to go back here for the coconut lamb once again. Stunning. My only criticism was, despite the offer, it did end up being £35 a head by the time you add a poppadoms, drink and a Naan. £70 per couple for a curry is still on the pricey side for me.

Great atmosphere and pleasant surroundings. The management dealt with our issue in a professional manner. Our waitress, Swapnali, one of the best in the profession. We will return to the Mint and Mustard in Penarth. Rikos

Booked a last minute curry because we were near by, the staff were very accommodating. We went for the clay pot curries which were served on hot plates. The food took over an hour but we did arrive at a very busy time. I would not recommend the £8 cocktails they were of poor standard. The service and the food was great

Couple why it was only 2 stars. Why I gave it two was purely because of the food which I cannot fault. Four of us went, my partner and 2 friends, it was their choice as never been here before. Had poppadoms to start. Nothing special and dips were small portions for four people and I only liked one. My choice. While we were tucking in a waiter came and took our plates way before we had finished. So shocked we never said a word. Called another waiter over and said he was new. Never even apologized. I had one small plate which was delicious as small appetite but others had full size meal. The rice was so delicious. When my partner ordered another cobra the waiter leaned over my friend sitting next to him so friend had to lean back so his arm could get past. Plenty of room the other side. I do not want to visit this place again . Didn't leave a tip as usually do. No apologies, nothing. No greeting coming in either. Hospitality is important to us

The chips tasted like they were microwaved and were soggy. The curry was just pure salt no flavour ! The Keema naan was the nicest thing and even that wasn’t even okay. Don’t know how the reviews are so high

Went for lunch at 11.45 and it was shut despite saying it should be open.

Called in at a lunch time and the place was empty apart from one couple. It has a pleasant comfortable interior. There was a special two course meal on offer but opted to go for a regular tandoori chicken meal. The meal was of a very good quality but I feel the portions could have been a little more generous for £16.50. Will probably go there again.

Used to be a Fantastic place for food which used to be beautifully presented Visited all the time but recently we have been disappointed with the service and food, since the old manager left things have slipped, I had a burnt curry and was told its because its cooked in the pot, that's just the way it is, nope I've had that meal many times and it was never burnt. There was no apology just a comment "well we will have to make it a different way and then put it in the pot. Then as soon as the food was put on the table I was asked how is your food (hadn't even tasted it) Your paying for Premier quality (as it is pricey) but not getting a premium service. Not sure will be returning as standards are slipping.

Have visited this restaurant many times however the other evening I was left quite disappointed after always ordering the same food you get to know how it should be cooked and served the food was burnt we could tell things had changed the person who we complained to had a list of excuses and made us feel we were in the wrong and we should have ordered something else in fact I thought the person was quite rude the service has declined since the last manager left

Great food and service. Let down by turning on all the overhead lights up as bright as they could go, at 10.10p.m. When I queried this they said they were getting ready for the next day. You are paying a premium price so would have expected a more pleasant end to the evening.

Another excellent visit to celebrate a family birthday. Food is exceptional as always, as is the friendly service. I ordered the mixed grill and safe say it's my new favourite. I've visited many times and never been disappointed.

This was a huge disappointment having ordered food here many times over recent years. The Lola Cutty’s curry was indescribably bad having tried it many times when it was excellent. the Chicken Khurma was colourless and bland…tasted of nothing and was almost white in colour. What has happened, a new not so good chef maybe?. Visitors and home delivery customers look out. I complained by email and had a call phone back during which I requested a refund but nothing to date. Won’t be dealing with this company again, there are other good alternatives in Penarth

My husband and I went mid-week for a meal. The service was exceptional and the food was exquisite! Firstly, it was a bit chilly outside, but it was lovely and warm in the restaurant... which was a relief! (A lot of other local places we have been have had quite a nip in the air, and no-one wants to eat their dinner in their coat!). We have been before, and I wasn't a fan of the more creamy meal I had... so this time they very kindly cooked me a bespoke meal off the menu, which was more tomato based and spicy (which I requested). The side salad was one of the best I have ever had. My husband ordered off the ´supper club´menu and said it was fantastic. The beetroot starter was gorgeous. We usually choose eat in another Indian restaurant close by, but this is now our favourite. It's a bit more expensive than some of the others, but in our opinion it is worth the extra few pounds. The best in Penarth and the surrounding areas! We will be back very soon - thank you!

As an experienced connoisseur of Indo-Pakistani cuisine, I have had the privilege of dining in numerous households, which has allowed me to develop a discerning palate for authentic flavors. However, I have often found that many restaurants fail to deliver the genuine culinary experience. In this regard, Mint & Mustard stands out as an exceptional establishment, offering the finest curry I have encountered in Cardiff, surpassing all but the exceptional biryani served at weddings.

Just had the Showstopper for lunch which was so tasty and delicious with just the right amount of food and a lovely mixture of flavours, Paneer, dumplings and Lamb Rogan Josh all for £10.. you can't go wrong. My server Swapnali was very attentive and friendly.. definitely be back again .. I came here for my birthday before Christmas with 40 of my friends and the staff and food were amazing.. Quality Curry House that serves old favourites as well as tasty new dishes. In its genre, I would say best in South Wales if not beyond. Did enjoy the Pakora Scotch egg!

Absolutely superb meal. A popular places as it was packed.

Wanted a great but inexpensive lunch, so I went for the set menu, 'Classics' option, for £10. Service was attentive and polite. Water was provided immediately. The place was clean and neat. A glass of wine was on offer at a bargain price of £3 with the menu I chose. A delicious sauvignon blanc was provided. The food was attractively presented and was hot and delicious. I liked the 2 chutneys/sauces, too. I decided to go for some plain Naan (£3.50) and it was essential for mopping up the fragrant chicken curry. The bill came with a chocolate, prize drawer entry and free wine coupon. £16.50 in total. Couldn't fault it all, so 5 stars from me! Can't wait to go again.

Had a lovely meal here last night. Very good quality and very tasty. Staff were very pleasant and the staff appeared to know a lot of customers, so appeared to have a lot of regulars. 21/2 pints of kingfisher, pickles and poppadoms, 2 starters; 2 mains with nan and rice £70 with the 10% service. Lovely. Definitely coming back

The 5 stars across the board may seem a bit bland and thoughtless but this is a lovely restaurant with great food and good service without being too intrusive. I go with friends and always try something new - I haven't been disappointed yet. A great place to catch up with friends or have a quieter night with family. Have used them as a takeaway also.

We moved away from Cardiff nearly 2 years ago and returned on a short weekend break - we made straight for Mint and Mustard. The food, atmosphere and service were as excellent as ever, and the manager, Ram, remembered us and gave us such a warm welcome. Thanks to M&M, with special mention to Ram - we recommend it!

A great place, lovely food , I generally have the salmon which is gorgeous. The staff are welcoming and friendly.

Service was excellent and quick, the restaurant was lovely and clean. We ordered 3 starters dishes, seekh kebab was to die for, onion bahji’s were nice, we were not mad on the tandoori chicken trio, the chicken was cooked beautifully but we felt that they all tasted the same. For mains the kheema nan was tasty, chips were okay some felt undercooked but the rice was beautiful. We had the soulful beef curry which was lovely and the clay pot rustic chicken curry which we were not fussed on, the curry tasted rather bland. The portion sizes were excellent for the price!

Delicious food and fabulous warm, friendly and helpful service from the young waitress. Our meal was served promptly and we were in the restaurant for approximately an hour. Prices are not cheap, but we were happy to pay for quality. We were disappointed to note a 10% service charge added to the bill. We would have preferred to tip our waitress directly and choose the amount. This aside, the experience was a positive one.

Disappointing. Have eaten many times here and food has always been excellent. Today the food was not good. The poppadoms were not fresh like usual and the lamb rogan josh poor. The sauce described as spicy was very.bland. Hopefully this was just a one off.

Let’s start by explaining that I do know a lot about Kerala cuisine as I have spent many many years travelling to this beautiful area of southern India. Kerala is known as the land of coconuts and this shows in their style of cooking. It is neither spicy or harsh but rather a delicate redefined style of cooking using only fresh spices & ingredients which includes several dishes using coconut milk.every dish tells a story. Tantalising your tastebuds. If you are looking for sophisticated Skilled Indian cooking then this should be your first port of call. It is unlike any other type of Indian cuisine you may have tried before. It is neither mass produced in a one stock pot of curry, but rather each dish is cooked to order by a highly trained skilled chef. Using the very finest fresh spices available. With no substitutes used. The curry leaf and coconut are used in the major Aspect of cooking at Mint & Mustard. Only at this wonderful restaurant would you ever experience such delicious dishes. Expect nothing less than perfection. The service was impeccable warm inviting and friendly. We tried several of their cocktails and wow they kick a hard punch made with a lot of passion. Hard to decide which I preferred as they were all fabulous. They Contained generous helpings of alcohol certainly not for the faint hearted. There is a varied menu, something for everyone seafood, meat and vegetarian on offer and very well priced. There were several celebrations having dinner and throughly enjoying their evening. This is busy restaurant and I can tell why. Please don’t hesitate make it your restaurant of choice in Penarth you won’t be disappointed. Ram the GM steers a busy tight ship well and is an exemplary manager. . Ram was welcoming helpful not intrusive pleasant GM and made sure each and every guest enjoyed their meal.. Our server Lilly was a well informed and charming delightful young lady Who deserves recognition for her hard work & excellent service. Thank you everyone for such a wonderful experience. Our foursome had an exquisite lunch here while wandering through the village. We had tAken the water taxi from Cardiff castle, took in the beautiful st Augustine church on the hill then wound our way into Pernath. Mint and Mustard's display menu was more than traditional Indian so we entered. It was an off season Sunday so we enjoyed the attention of the host straight away. The curries, Bhudda bowls, masala, tea, cocktails, and okra fries were amazing!!!! I wanted to bottle up every sauce and take it home. Out of this world!!!!!!

Quality every single time, makhani murg is a mist

I am only worried seeing the quality of this place declining. I couldn’t stand the mango lasse - it is definitely off. They clay lamb is too strong ‘a lot of tomato sauce’ unbalanced. I would keep the starters as my favourite in addition to the chicken biryani ‘flawless’

Salty sauce, tough dry chicken, overcooked, thin naan. No flavour in the curry sauces. Had high expectations, but left bitterly disappointed.

I ordered take out rather than eat in but it was frankly one of the worst curries I have had I a while. It might have just been an off day considering how many good reviews there are but I was not happy with what I got. The jalfrezi was bland and just tasted of salt. The butter chicken was also pretty bland. Wouldnt order again considering quality vs cost.

7 of us ate here and really enjoyed our food. Two of us had the vegan squash and coconut curry, which was very mild and creamy. I had mine with lemon rice. A couple had the chicken coconut curry, someone else had the biryani which was beautifully presented with a pastry lid. Nice decor, clean toilets but quite noisy for me who has hearing difficulties. Nevertheless, I look forward to returning.
