Hello, myself and my brothers and sisters had a lovely meal at Mint and Mustard. The food here was the best Indian food I have tasted a restaurant in the last few years. I liked the natural light and the simple but colourful decor. We were also very lucky to be served by a delightfully friendly waitress called Swapnali who was polite enough to listen to my terrible Hindi. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a night out in Penarth.

Very nice and friendly staff. Our waitress, Moon, was very lovely and attentive and the food was delicious, from the starters to the dessert. We loved our curries, rich and full of flavour. The goat one was especially good. Loved every minute!

Wonderful experience at Mint and Mustard! We came as a table of ten, and the service was genuinely unmatched. The staff were warm, friendly, and incredibly attentive & nothing was too much trouble. Our food arrived quickly and every dish was top quality, packed with flavor and beautifully presented. The menu is amazing too, so many delicious options to choose from. From start to finish, everything ran smoothly, and we all left full and happy. Highly recommend for both the amazing food and the fantastic service. This was our third time visiting as a large party! Moon was super friendly and made the night really enjoyable

First time visit. Staff very welcoming. Chose the Vegan Thali which came with Dall, Green Curry, Chapati , Rice and lots more. Extremely tasty & spicy with all the flavours. All very fresh and well presented.

Really enjoyed the Thali, also the Gobi Manchurian. Service was quick and friendly, we’ll be back!

I am a delivery driver. What a pathetic manager in the store. He said wait outside in a very rude manner. Try to show some respect. Every one work for living. It was really disrespectful and sad. Teach your staff some respect and no delivery drivers should be treated the way the guy did today.

Just been for a meal with hubby and my friend for her birthday. The food was amazing. I had Claypot green curry, hubby had the salmon and my friend had chicken Biryani. Lovely place friendly staff and prompt service, great atmosphere for a meet up with friends or family x

We were a group of 8 but at the last minute needed to change to 9, this was no problem at all. We nearly all had a different dish and everyone enjoyed the flavours of their meal. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially to my mum who is 90 and in a wheelchair. We chose to come here to celebrate my daughter's 30th birthday and am very glad we did. Many thanks to all the team for making the evening so special, we'll be back soon.

I usually love this restaurant, it's one of my favourites. Today wasn't a good experience. We had a table booked at 1:30. We had a phone call at 1:20, the restaurant asked us to come at 1:45 as they were fully booked (totally understandable as it was mother's day). We arrived at 1:45, we were asked to sit at a side table (a table for 6) to order our drinks,and to wait there, then they would move us to our table when it was free. A waitress came with the menus after 5 minutes then she left without taking our drink order. 10 minutes later she came over to ask us, to scoot over as they were dividing our table to 2 tables to accommodate a couple that just came in. She still didn't take our drink order. We left at this point, cause the restaurant was really busy and noisy and we thought that after all this it wasn't going to be a nice and relaxing lunch. I understand that mother's day is always busy, but this is why we booked and would have expected to have a table at the booked time (or at least by the time that they asked us to come in)

Finally, found a decent Indian since moving to Cowbridge a year ago. The 2 locals ones have become increasingly bland. The food chosen here was thahli: 2 fish, vegan and veggie. Mukul our waitress was very friendly. Around £35 per person for a superior dining experience. No doubt will be back very soon.

Excellent all round! Fantastic vegan and non vegan food, the thali is second to none, full of flavour, diverse and huge! Great atmosphere and very reasonably priced. Fantastic staff, looked after from start to finish. Moon you are a star!

My son and I were looking for a nice place to eat after watching the International Rugby match Wales v England. This place was recommended to us and I am glad we did. The lady that served us Moon was exceptional.

We came for the rugby, so did not book. We were offered a table by the window and drinks were served. It became quite apparent that our server “Moon” was to be the highlight of the night. That is not to take away anything from the food which was plentiful and delicious. But Moon was as described. A bright shining light in the dark cosmos of life.

We went here tonight (Sunday 2/3/25) as we were staying at Penarth Marina. What a fabulous find! We started with some poppadoms and pickles- compulsory! My partner then had the Railway Lamb, and I had the Fish Thali platter - amazing! Both our dishes were absolutely fantastic with a real depth of flavours. We shared a mango sorbet and mango lassi to finish up. Everything was delicious! Probably the best Indian food we’ve eaten in a long time. The flavours were just perfect! And the staff were really friendly and helpful and just a joy to talk to! Thank you so much! We will be back!

The food is very good and there is a wide selection of dishes on the menu. Many cocktails and drinks to choose from. Service is friendly and and attentive.

Me and my partner came here on a whim one Friday after work and are so glad we did because we are now locals! We have tried a lot of the curry houses in Penarth and this one is by far the nicest and most consistent. I had the thalli and my partner had the hunters lamb curry both were absolutely delicious! We have since ordered a take away from here twice and the food is just as good and is quick to collect. Love the chicken momos a must order!! Love the ambiance of the restaurant and the service was great! It was a little cramped and drinks were quite expensive but overall decent value for money. We will definitely be back and highly recommend!

We would rate the lunch menu as very good, and with a good variety of dishes. The young woman that served us was friendly, professional and efficient. The food was well presented and the amount was very satisfactory for a midday meal for an older couple.

Came here for the £10 lunchtime set meal and it was absolutely delicious! Super filling as well so make sure you come hungry. Amazing service from Swapnali, super friendly and polite.

This was amazing! We had the set menu £10 what a delious treat! We added poppadoms for a £1 and nann bread £2 well worth it fantastic quality. Highly recommend trying the mango lassi also. Delicious. The samosa was stunning. What a lovely day off work. Lovely service thank you!!!

The place was heaving when we arrived and had a great atmosphere. The food was incredible, one of the best meals I've ever had, no lie. My friends' meals were amazing too, the thali was fabulous. Huge amounts of choice. I would go every week if I lived nearer. Highly recommended.

My daughter and I chose to eat here before going to a matinee at the Wales Millennium Centre, so we booked a table for an early lunch. We chose from the set lunch menu (there were several menus to chose from, two of them vegetarian). All the food was absolutely delicious (as well as being good value for money) and the service was so friendly and efficient. I can't wait to go back.

8 of us came for our Xmas meal and the food took an age to arrive, it almost felt like they were keeping us waiting to get us to buy more drinks. It’s a very very pricey menu which may be reflected in the food but defo not in the service, tables that arrived far after than us we’re getting served before. Was in there 3 hours all told, waiting for food for 1.30-1.45 Although I have to say this review is somewhat saved by the quality of the meal itself, quality of the Byriani was immense.

Despite ordering an hour in advance the order was 45 minutes late. Called the restaurant twice to chase. when it arrived it wasnt great, just ok. We also ordered the poppadoms with chutney and the amount of chutney in the pots was poor. Not the best experience.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mint and Mustard and was impressed by the exceptional service provided by Swapnali. She was attentive and friendly and ensured that our needs were met throughout our meal. food was beyond expectations. I had Peshawari naan, Railway lamb ( It is the best curry I have ever had) and chicken biryani. They have great selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes also.We will definitely be back soon.

Update to review below:- After contacting the owner regarding this issue a full refund of the service charge was given. Prompt and excellent customer contact. Thank you Debs ! Food was very good, but be beware of the 10% service charge which they apply to the bill without confirming if you would like to pay it. This is a discretionary payment and appears in very small print at the bottom of the menu. We were only a party of 4 and it was a Monday so there was only another 1 table in the restaurant. I sent an Email to the restaurant stating my disappointment at not being asked if I wanted to pay a £13 service charge, which I have had no reply to. I would hesitate to go again, hence the star rating.

We booked for 7-30 on a very busy Friday night! The new menu was causing delays but when the meal came it was worth the wait.Most of all Moon looked after us impeccably and we were made to feel most welcome.by her.I can recomend Mustard seed.

We simply loved this. The restaurant is warm and beautifully turned out. The team were so friendly and welcoming and on a Saturday night there was a huge cohort working. We were shown to a large table with plenty of room for the pram holding our sleeping granddaughter. The food was something else. The home made samosas had flavour so exquisite I have never tasted anything like it before. The chilli squid had a perfect kick, and the chicken domo were superb. Together with other Bahjis poppadoms and a wonderful spicy scotch egg we commenced our meal. The main courses too were exceptional. I had the Calicut beef, round and flavourful with a big hit of ginger warmth. Our daughter the panneer curry which had a glorious tasting Marsala. The boys had the coconut chicken, excellent and the lamb rogan josh , also superb. We had been recommended by other family to visit and we will certainly be back. We only visit Penarth a couple of times a year but this should become a tradition.

We found this lovely restaurant by chance early Saturday evening and so glad we did. Lovely interior and a warm welcome met us. We were seated immediately wherever we chose and immediately provided with menus. We were offered advice with choosing our meals as there were so many which looked lovely on the menu. We chose poppadoms and chutney tray and shared a portion of onion bhaji to start all of which were very tasty. My husband then had the chicken in a crackpot which had spices and a coconut sauce which was delicious. I chose the Railway Lamb which was equally delicious in a beautifully flavoured sauce which was not spicy but had beautiful flavours. We shared mushroom pilau rice and a roti, both of which were very tasty. We both said the food was the nicest we had eaten in such a restaurant for some time. Flavours used are Kerralen, Nepalese aswell as Indian. Service was excellent and the two gentlemen who served us were clean, smart and friendly. Will definitely return when in Penarth.

Honestly one of the best Indian dinners I have had in a long time. Phenomenal and great service. Really unusual dishes compared to the usual “curry places”. Worth a visit. Naan was out of this world

I order regularly and food is always very good. The vegetarian mango curry and chilli coriander naan are favourites of mine.

We chose Mint and Mustard for an early dinner one Saturday night. So glad we did! Lovely place with intriguing decor. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food was top notch - absolutely delicious. We both had dishes we had never encountered on other Indian restaurant menus and found them great. Highly recommend this restaurant.

The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered Tiger prawns and Scotch egg as starters. Main course - Mango and coconut stuffed naan, Wheat roti and Highway Dhaba Murgh and Mushroom rice. Followed by dessert of Chocolate and cherry cheesecake. Portion size was spot on. We were attended by - Mr. Alex and Ms. Moon. Both were quite warm and welcoming. Excellent service provided by both of them. Second time visiting it. Would definitely love to bring my whole family along.

the chicken tikka masala didn't taste like a masala and the coconut chicken I assumed was a corma but it wasn't the sauce was like dish water and had peppers on it and was spicy which I thought was strange as a korma or coconut curry shouldn't be spicy it went In the bin sorry guys but it's a no go for me

The Mint & Mustard is brilliant! We booked to be certain of getting a table but they also allow people to walk in, which is great to know if you are in Penarth and wanting some quality food. The welcome was great, meeting us as soon as we stepped in, we were sat straight away and looked after throughout. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Our starters were awesome, recommend the Gobi, we had to wait a little for the mains - but this was helpful as we had a breather to really enjoy the mains - dish of the night was Saag Gosht - really tasty, but saying that everything was perfect. And for what we had very reasonable too. Recommend to everyone.

Delivery was a little later than requested, but it was not a problem. Food delicious as always, with interesting options for vegetarians too. The vegetable mango curry is particularly good. Thank you!

Waited over an hour for cold food to be delivered. Really disappointed considering how high all the other reviews were. Food was tasty but when it’s delivered cold and sweaty it’s not what you expect, especially when spending over £40 for a meal

Very good food. Very good and friendly service. Loses a point on atmosphere because I use hearing aids and the universal use of noise-reflective surfaces is seriously detrimental to my enjoyment of conversation with those in my company.

Normally great food here. Tonight was a massive let down. Railway lamb (gluten free) was a disaster, may be a different chef. India gate across the road may have been a better option, albeit not a restaurant, just a take away.

Excellent, delicious food and friendly efficient service. I dropped a star for atmosphere as only a few tables were occupied during our visit so the place felt a little underused. With the standard and selection of food this place should be packed out. Plus they serve excellent cocktails at very reasonable prices!! We'd love to have an Indian restaurant of this standard where we live. Will definitely go to Mint and Mustard if we are visiting the area in future.

A lovely evening with very tasty food and generous portions. We had a wide selection of dishes - highlights being the tarka dal and the rogan josh. Beautiful rice, roti and naan. Plenty of advice and patience and good humour from our exceptional server Moon.

We went on a whim one night with friends for the evening offer menu - 2 courses for £20. Portions were very generous indeed, and the food was amazing. Choices were very good, too. We frequent high end restaurants, and honestly I can't wait to go back here for the coconut lamb once again. Stunning. My only criticism was, despite the offer, it did end up being £35 a head by the time you add a poppadoms, drink and a Naan. £70 per couple for a curry is still on the pricey side for me.

Fab food Fab service Lovely atmosphere

One of my pet peeves is a description on a menu that then doesn’t turn up on the plate. Had the sea bream that was described as served with green mango and rocket salad, curry leaf herb dip, garlic mustard and ‘spiced’ chips. What was served was fish, highly salted chips, garlic mayo and a mountain of ‘bagged’ salad of beetroot/ carrot/ lambs lettuce/ red cabbage - undressed and dry. Please guys, if you don’t have the ingredients listed on the menu in the kitchen for some reason / explain this when a customer places an order for a dish. Was left underwhelmed and quite disappointed with a dry and over salted supper. On the upside - my partner enjoyed his beef dish.

They were recommended to us, pricey, but we thought you get what you pay for, sadly we were wrong food was tasteless!!!

Booked a last minute curry because we were near by, the staff were very accommodating. We went for the clay pot curries which were served on hot plates. The food took over an hour but we did arrive at a very busy time. I would not recommend the £8 cocktails they were of poor standard. The service and the food was great

Couple why it was only 2 stars. Why I gave it two was purely because of the food which I cannot fault. Four of us went, my partner and 2 friends, it was their choice as never been here before. Had poppadoms to start. Nothing special and dips were small portions for four people and I only liked one. My choice. While we were tucking in a waiter came and took our plates way before we had finished. So shocked we never said a word. Called another waiter over and said he was new. Never even apologized. I had one small plate which was delicious as small appetite but others had full size meal. The rice was so delicious. When my partner ordered another cobra the waiter leaned over my friend sitting next to him so friend had to lean back so his arm could get past. Plenty of room the other side. I do not want to visit this place again . Didn't leave a tip as usually do. No apologies, nothing. No greeting coming in either. Hospitality is important to us
