Visited here after a walk around the lakes on a gorgeous day. Clean, modern setting with bright colourful furniture and furnishings. The staff were busy but still had time to greet us. We opted for coffees but there were a small display of yummy looking cakes and sandwiches.

Called in here after just arriving at the hotel down the road. All we were after was a quick snack-like meal and we were really pleased with the range on offer and the final meals - the mushroom soup was particularly nice according to my wife. Plus there were adequate safety contingencies in place.

Dropped in for a coffee before a meeting (in late 2018). Friendly staff, comfortable seats & beautiful view across the lake.

We needed hot drinks and a light bite after a bracing autumn walk around the South Cerney lakes. Tried a couple of nearby pubs but they were all booked, then saw the Muddy Duck. Staff were welcoming, there was a jar of biscuits for the dog, and although the menu choice was limited the cakes, tea cake and sandwich were all good - especially the cake, according to my wife and daughter! The outside seating on the patio area has lovely lake views and the cats prowling the land on the hotel side kept the visiting dogs amused. Good place for refreshments before or after a visit to the water park

We had a visit to the muddy duck cafe for a spot of lunch and although quite basic was a pleasant visit, sadly paper cups but the panini was very tasty. This little cafe is dog friendly, sadly the weather was against us as we would have sat outside on the decking looking over the lake.

Cozy and friendly place. Very nice coffee in biodegradable cups. Unlike other “dog friendly” places , this cafe really is, from a “dog wash” outside, to the treats on entry, to the staff making a fuss of the canine visitors. Fab little outside space with view of lake. Can definitely recommend for a peaceful coffee stop.

What a welcome treat to find a dog friendly cafe! The interior is comfy chairs and tables with a great view out onto the lake. The food selection is limited, pre-packed sandwiches and pannini's, lovely cakes and drinks. But if you're looking for somewhere to stop with a dog, what more do you need? The two staff were very friendly towards us and the dogs, who were happy to receive treats on a couple of occasions. We enjoyed our time at the cafe, but I suppose it depends what you're looking for and what your expectations are. We would certainly visit again.

Very little food choice that afternoon. Most of the shelves were empty. Could do with additional loos as there was only one.

It really depends what your expectations are. For me, I wanted a quiet place to enjoy a coffee and cake with nature around me. Ticked all the boxes. There isn’t a vast amount of food but it’s got what you need to accompany a hot drink on a cold day or a snack and soft drink in the summer. Friendly staff and modern decor. It is fairly new so still has potential to offer a great experience.

Miserable staff. Pre-packed sandwiches and paninis. Coffee was ok. Tables were a bit sticky. Not many customers and I now know why.

The venue is lovely and the food was spot on, only had a ploughman’s and a cake but was delicious. The reason for the bad rating is purely because it seemed as though two girls parents had decided it would be a good idea to leave them in charge for a day. Both who had no idea what they were doing, took far too long to serve, Clumsy, got most simple orders wrong and didn’t know how to solve it once it had gone wrong. Working in a customer service industry you need to have at least a basic form of social understanding but these girls were clearly nervous and didn’t like speaking to customers. Maybe there needs to be an adult present next time. But props again to the food, expensive but it was a decent cake!

First visit to this cafe this morning. First impressions are very good, perfect location and beautiful views over the lake. Unfortunately this is where it ends. Coffee is served in the smallest paper cups you could think of, coffee itself was ok, lukewarm though. We also asked for 2 muffins, which were ok, nothing special as they were very cold having been kept refrigerated. The worse thing was I nearly asked them to check the price when I was told it was £11 for 2 very small lattes and 2 muffins. This maybe wouldn’t be so bad if it was bigger size drinks and outstanding quality. The icing on the cake was we had to remind them to bring over the muffins as these were forgotten when we already half way through our coffees. Will definitely not be returning. This is a shame as this could be a lovely cafe!

Lovely spot by the lake and very dog friendly. Would be much nicer though if drinks were served in 'proper' cups, rather than disposables which seem to end up in a general waste bin. The coffee was good, the tea was less than good, the cake was tasty. Saying all that, we have been here several times and will continue to frequent as it's much more pleasant than the alternative cafe located by the Cotswold outdoor store. ☺️

Went to the Muddy Cafe for the first time as a change from Dobbies or the Gateway. We were disappointed and will not be going back. The selection on offer was very limited, coffe was ok but the cheese and pickle rolls were not good. The rolls were premade, probably some time earlier, as the bread was dry and the pickle was disgusting.

My wife and I arrived at the Cafe about 10am. i expected possibly breakfast, or a selection of snacks at least. All this cafe had were a couple of Bap sandwiches and two slices of sponge cake. I asked if that was all they provided and was told yes!

Having gone into Relish and found it to be very crowded, we remembered seeing this little cafe just off the car park. We sat overlooking the lake and watched reed warblers in the willow trees whilst waiting for our coffees and scones with jam and cream. Not a great selection of food, but some nice cakes and perfectly adequate filled rolls. The staff were very friendly and the coffee was good! Looking forward to returning soon.

Stopped here after a walk for a coffee as thought the seating area was sweet. Really wished we hadn't bothered, the coffee was awful. I couldn't drink mine and my partner felt sick for the rest the afternoon after drinking his. Cost was £3 for a latte, rip-off. If you like a nice coffee don't waste your money here you are better off going to the Gateway.

after a nice walk around South Cerney lake we stopped for a hot drink. It was a Sunday about 3.30 but very busy. All the tables on the balcony area were taken so we sat on a table on the grass. The staff were very friendly and people seemed to be enjoying their food. Wilol go again soon

Stopped on spec as we were driving past and needed some food. A really nice light airy cafe overlooking the water. Lovely rolls/wraps and cakes and a very reasonable price, a good lunch was had by all. The couple of staff present were both cheery and chatty. A genuinely nice, relaxed place - we will be back.

Was intending to go to the café @ The Gateway but the person I was meeting was already here. I didn't even know this place existed - but I can see why. Terribly poor choice in food. No food kept on the premises. Everything pre-made and brought in so no chance of them altering an order even slightly. Good luck if you have any special dietary requirements! My hot chocolate was luke warm and bitter. My bacon was cooked to the bare minimum so the fat was really bad. In a pre'-sliced bun not even offered a nice crusty roll or malt roll like the ones on display. So two bits of bacon in a pre-cut white roll (after removing all the fat it was probably one slice) for £4.00 is shocking. The man who served me was not unpleasant but not sure I saw him smile once either. I would not come back to this café again. IT WAS clean and decorated well they are happy to accommodate dogs and the view is nice. But wasn't looking for a seating area I wanted a decent light lunch and hot drink

We were in the area and decided to have some coffees here. We asked for 2 decaffinated coffees and were told that we don’t have any and also there wasn’t many choices available. We found what we wanted at the Boathouse.

Nice location overlooking the lake. Clean and comfortable inside. Friendly staff. Sadly the food was not great. The bacon in my roll had obviously been kept warm under the heat for too long so the rind had gone as hard as bone. Coffee was luke warm. First visit for lunch so maybe I was just unlucky.

We turned up just after four with 9 of us, a muddy dog and wellies and the main cafe was shut. These guys welcomed us in and although there weren’t many cakes left they made it clear they could get more from the hotel next door and welcomed us with boots and dogs and it wasn’t a problem. Nick couldn’t do enough for us and after us another couple of large groups arrived and all were welcomed. The cakes were good and the tea and hit chocolate too! There were even treats for the dogs. We were so impressed by his welcoming attitude when such a large group may have been a bit much when they closed at 5. We also left just about five but apparently it closed at five and he hasn’t said anything. He just let us finish up naturally. A really lovely guy and the ladies that served us too so won’t hesitate to go back again and when we asked about coming back another time with friends he said just give us a call and we will put some tables together to accommodate you. Great service and a credit to the cafe. Well done x

I have a dairy intolerance and was served a meal with butter, slaw and mayonnaise after I had told them about my intolerance. The meal was taken away and I was served a Ham baguette with most of the meat inside being just fat and I found spread in the roll. The mustard turned out to be mayonnaise with mustard seeds in it. My family member asked for Fish and chips yet she was served Fish with French fries. I ended leaving the cafe completely disgusted and will never return.

My family and I (two adults and a child) recently visited Whatley Manor for afternoon tea 09/10/23. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations, prompting this review. Despite booking a regular afternoon tea, we were charged £43.50 instead of the confirmed £37.50, citing a festive surcharge. Disappointingly, there were absolutely no noticeable festive elements to justify this added cost. Upon arrival, we were seated at a stark white, unadorned table, devoid of any seasonal decorations or even water glasses. The music being played just after we arrived wasn’t festive either. Our initial drinks and food were served promptly but for £140 (the entire amount of food in the attached photo), the value was awful. It consisted of three stale items, the Battenberg slice if you’re interested, accompanied by minimal service (no follow up on food and additional drinks and we had to go and find staff to ask to pay the bill) and a complete absence of the promised festive ambiance which after all was what the surcharge was for. Overall, this was an expensive and unsatisfactory afternoon tea experience. We have since had the festive surcharge refunded which we appreciate but I wouldn’t go back again or recommend the afternoon tea as an experience I’m afraid.

Someone recently wrote that staff were paid above average wages, I would like to tell her they’re paid minimum wages, and all too often they’re employed as temporary so they aren’t entitled to the annual bonus, sickness or holidays, although even the bonus has been non existent in the past two years either.

Wedding coordinators both amazing. Prompt and professional support and advice. Food was better than some Michelin restaurants I’ve been to. Five star quality; amazing service and would highly recommend. Venue went over and above what was necessary from free coffee to supporting external vendors and accommodation

Have a lovely stay here with friends, booked a triple room. The room was spacious and very comfortable, we booked an evening meal here and the owner was very helpful with the Thai menu as I'm unable to eat spicy food and her recommendation was delicious ( pad Thai noodles with chicken). Lovely breakfast and the owners were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again 👍
