M&S Cafe in Thanet

Visited today for a late breakfast and we were not disappointed. There were tables spare and we were warned of a wait for hot food, but ours came within a reasonable time. Large All-Day Breakfast of sausage/.bacon/poached eggs/beans/large mushroom/hash browns and toast with butter. Quality excellent and served with two butter portions. My wife have chocolate cake, add on a coffee and a hot chocolate and the whole thing was just over £20, excellent value for the quality served!

My wife came here today and left totally upset. There was a long queue and when finally got to the till there was hardly anything she could have left!! She settled for something as was hungry and was told a 45 minute wait?! When she finally decided to just get an overpriced bottle of water and leave the server was rude to her!! This happens occasionally and if you can’t cope when you know you will be busy then it’s on you to sort it out…. Not be rude to customers. Will not be returning or recommending this to anyone…. Disgusting staff behaviour.

The prices are continually going up, cakes not replenished in a timely fashion when cake stands are empty. Often run out of items, No glasses for water. Could be good not well run. The best carrot cake though!

Well. What a huge disappointment. Run out of teapots. Run out of jugs for milk. Ordered 2 jacket potatoes and the one with beans had virtually a teaspoon of beans on it. Think we counted about 20. The side salad was about the size of a tablespoon too. No butter on them. Really poor show. Using M&S you expect good quality but today was a huge disappointment. Won't rush back that's for sure.

I am very disappointed 25min wait for 2 poached eggs on toast Then alas they were just about warm hadn't the heart to send them back as would have had to wait another 25 mins........

Visited this store on Saturday. The place was half empty but could not find a table that had been cleared or cleaned. Appalling..place should be closed down..I counted at least 7 staff .. so enough staff to clean the place .. 1 member of staff walked across to take a scone to a table on walking away from table she must have seen all trays etc to be removed, but she ignored them so I shouted is anybody going to clear these tables..all I got was a dirty look..I could go on with lots more. But all I will say is I will not use this cafe again.

Firstly I am a constant client of M&S, and their food is greatThis last Saturday--when visiting the Westwood Kent Store I decided to have breakfast at their Cafe.I expected it to be good in view of their reputationUnfortunately, it was a very poor experience. I ordered a breakfast of scrambled eggs with bacon, toast, and a side of baked beans. It was delivered to my table promptly, but.... the scrambled eggs were quite dry and rubbery, the bacon was only half cooked and inedible --mostly fat, and the baked beans were coldNeedless to say I returned the dish to the plate collection area and advised a member of the staff that I was very unsatisfied---only to get the reply " it was cooked !!" I did not ask for a refund--just wanted to let them know I was not happy!!Not the experience I expect in M&S--needless to say I will not be using their Cafe again

A bottle of water,cortado coffee,tea and a cake,all for under £9. You pick your cakes,then go to the counter,order hot drinks and food,then sit down. Smooth and good quality,as expected from M&S.

Stopped here for breakfast before shopping. We had a bacon roll and coffee each. Its expensive for what it is.

Called in here many times while shopping, good views across the complex if you like people watching. Nice staff, good food

sadly every time i visit while the wife is browsing the store it seems under staffed but the other day was hard to find a table that didn't have the last customers tray and left overs on it ,looked around for some one to clear clean it ,sadly no one around ,so cleared the table contents to another table ,then the chef came out delivered a meal to a customer , went back with his hands empty , came back again ,yep went back empty handed , and again 3 x times ,never took back so much as a cup ,he could cleared three tables for no extra effort ,then a young lad came out clearing tables 5 mins later ,i dont ask for much just a clean cleared table ,think customers are being let down.

Shocked that for the prices of the drinks that they can't afford to supply crockery that isn't chipped

Nice coffee, always get lots of vouchers but you need to speed up making the coffees. Always a que of people waiting

Took my daughter for breakfast and chose the salmon and scrambled eggs. Not much I can say really, the eggs were over-cooked, dry and rubbery, and there was very little salmon. Disappointed.

Went early on a cold Saturday morning, so we could park the car without a long walk. Got our M&S shopping done, and decided to get a Breakfast in their Cafe. Bit of a queue, ordered two Tea, and Two breakfasts. Disappointed they do not serve fried eggs, or beans, eggs only poached or scrambled. Paid, got our tea, found a table, collecting cutlery, napkins etc. on route. Bit of a wait for food to arrive, had already drunk a cup of tea. Finally arrived, sausage, two of toast, bacon, eggs, small tomatoes, and mushrooms. Looked ok...but not very hot! Not value for money, not very impressed! Would have complained, but did not want to queue again to speak to someone.

I really like Marks and Spencers and shop there a lot so would love to have given them a better review. Two of us tried their Turkey Feast sandwich, for Saturday lunch, which was excellent. Full of turkey, stuffing and cranberry - couldn’t fault it. Their Christmas cake slice was also lovely, firm, full of fruit and scrumptious icing. The downside.... it took 15 minutes to pay for the goods and get two coffees. The queue wasn’t that long but the staff were so slow it was painful to watch. The cashier left the till twice to get cups and then teapots which meant the queue grinded to a halt. I did mention this to a member of staff who had a tie on, so I assume they were a supervisor or manager. He smiled and just explained that the barista needed more crockery. In the meantime he was just wandering around and could/should have stepped in and helped. Or got someone else who wasn’t on the till to replenish the crockery. The staff are friendly and seem really nice - they are just badly managed. Come on M&S get your act together! We won’t be eating here again.

We regularly visit this Cafe for tea/coffee and their wonderful iced teacakes...! However the service can be variable. The last visit at about 3pm during a weekday the place was not busy but they had run out of teapots..! So it meant a long wait while the staff searched around to find some! As regular users it appears that the dept. is lacking some leadership/management to keep the standards at an acceptable level. So the poor customers get a range of service levels based on luck. We are also regular visitors to McDonalds in Broadstairs who are doing much better than M&S in terms of customer service......which is something I would never expect to be saying. The M&S Cafe brings customers to the store who will then browse the retail - so tackle your Cafe management sooner rather than later.

Came across M&S; Cafe by accident and so glad we did. Was shopping with my Daughter for Uni and see the sign outside M&S; for Afternoon Tea - well we just had to give it a go ! So glad we did. The Service was impeccable, the Food was plentiful, tasty and well presented. Two of the staff working the Cafe Seating Area were very attentive, bringing cream, sugar, cutlery - we're apologetic for what was only a very small wait time - wasn't necessary but was appreciated (thank you). Marks & Sparks - this IS how it should be - was excellent from start to finish, and even though we're an hours drive from you (on a good day!) - we'll definitely be back again and again. Very Well Done and Keep it Up !

Reliable food and service with nice seating area. Can be a bit noisy with cutlery/crockery and people. Food a tad expensive but reliable.

Friendly staff, a bit on the slow side for some items. It was nice to be personally asked if everything was OK & also when we left, the staff said goodbye to us. Near the loo!

We dropped in for a quick breakfast, and on seeing the menu the only "full" breakfast comes with a poached egg. Since neither myself nor my wife particularly like those, we asked to exchange them for a scrambled egg (scrambled egg on toast is another offered option) and was told that it wasn't possible as stock levels would be affected.

nice cup of coffee /tea, various sizes on offer. lovely scones. variety of good sandwiches and cakes. small selection of hot food. great for a mid shop break and a natter. not a place to go for a meal. seating comfortable and upper floor position easy to get to via escalators or lift for wheelchair users.

How frustrating that they no longer sell peppermint tea in the restaurant! I suggested they walked downstairs to the food hall and pick up a box, clearly they didn’t.

Came here for tea and cake with my mum. The Staff are very friendly and the place is very spacious and clean. The cake is gorgeous and tea is lovely. Good prices aswell.

Popped in here for lunch last week and were served by a very rude member of staff! The restaurant was incredibly dirty with lots of tables but all full of empty plates etc... Would not return here!

Nice and clean and serves reasonable "canteen" style food and would not use unless shopping in M & S but the staff are really excellent

Good assortment of food and drinks hot and cold. Service is fairly quick and staff are always pleasant

We called in for a coffee and a cake but the time it took for the coffee to be made was ridiculous and some of the staff were really miserable. Only one coffee machine was working but instead of explaining this and asking people to be patient, we were just 'grumped' at.

I visit here a lot with friends and family. The staff are very friendly and they make the best chai latte. There food is basic toasted sandwiches, cakes etc. Always enjoyed what I've had. Definitely recommend for their chai latte.

took my dad for lunch, although food good lunch time is very very busy had to wait quite a while for food to arrive due to only one oven working which you do notknow about unless you chase up your food

Visited on a very wet day for a cuppa, lovely staff, very clean and a fab slice of carrot cake. Plenty of free parking outside the store.

Always get a great cup of coffee here and their fish sandwiches are to die for. Daughters and hubby love their cakes.

OK so its just the M and S café but its good value and the food is nice. Afternoon tea is better than you'd expect too!! Not 5 star hotel quality but you would not expect that would you? .

I had just had tests at the nearby hospital and needed a snack and relax. It is clean with pleasant staff and seems to have a very popular cake stand. I chose fish and chips and my wife a goats cheese tart which she thought excellent, and so it looked. My mushy peas were traditional, the fish tasted of fish but my chips seemed to have been deconstructed. They were, I think, boiled potatoes sprayed with oil and then grilled. It did not work, oven chips, which I dislike, were preferable. Chips are a dish which does not deserve such treatment, if that was served in a chippy it would be bankrupt in a week.

After a bit of shopping in M&S; where better to stop fir a drink and snack. Smells good as you approach.

This cafe is clean and neat. The gaps between the tables is reasonable for getting a wheelchair around. However, the coffee was a little cold because the member of staff took a while to make it, so a bit more training is maybe needed, as the staff looked as if they were rather pushed.

Well set up for afternoon tea or morning coffee. Not sure I would be comfortable having a meal or snack as seating bit crammed in.

This is a typical Marks and Spencer restaurant, the food is ok, cakes and scones are good! Unfortunately service is very slow, the staff are nice but someone needs to get a jiggy on. Not enough staff so they are overstretched.

Seating was limited so we had to eat standing up for most of our meal. Very busy but do not restrict the flow of orders. Food ok but a little on the pricey side. Coffee is quite nice.

Cannot go shopping without stopping off at M&S; cafe for a lovely cup of coffee or hot chocolate and a slice of their delicious carrot cake...heaven !

Service and coffee as good as it always is. only slight problem it takes ages to get served. Decor needs a facelift too does not detract from coffee or service.

Always use the café after shopping. Plenty of choice both cold and hot. Does get rather busy between 12.00 14.00

We turned up at 230pm and thought maybe lunch would be over. However full simple menu available. As you would expect food good and therefore great value

Great morning coffee, good for lunch, always plenty of choice and veggie options too. I often go here, once the guy on the table next to me accidentally knocked his coffee over and the staff tidied it up very quickly and gave him a free replacement. Unexpected service!!

Love to have a coffee in my favorite store. Good coffee and a nice snack always puts husbands in the right mood to shop till they drop and pay ! Clean and neat , friendly place.

This is a very nice cafe to attend, with lots of different dishes and drinks on offer. Prices are set to a good level, staff are friendly. However we do notice that the cafe is often highly occupied. (This may be due to pure popularity!) So service and management may be an issue. Overall 4/5

Called in here this morning with a very good friend. We both had coffee and a cheese scone each, delicious. Very nice coffee, plus small biscuit on the side. Really good cheese scone. Nice gentle buzz about the place today. Would return.

The cafe was OK - a little expensive - but the staff serving teas and coffees were really quite grumpy and unwelcoming.

very friendly staff, helped with menu as some items were out of stock, had toast with was lovely cut bread, not plastic bread! very nice smoothies too

Decided not to have a full English at the Toby, so had a bacon roll here instead. Must admit it was very nice, and because we were early there were no queues and no wait. Staff very nice as well. Provided Gluten free toast for our friend.

Came here with my mum yesterday (Friday of half term). Cafe was busy but managed to get a seat.

Visited m&s; cafe in Westwood today around 2pm,

Stopped in here with the 2 kids for a late lunch after shopping. It was very busy and after paying for our food struggled to find a seat! Ended up pulling another chair over to a table made for 2. Can't fault the food as you would expect from M and S but was not in the least bit relaxing! The staff couldn't keep up and there were dirty dishes piled everywhere. One to avoid at busy times!!!!

The M&S; Cafe is situated upstairs in the store but, there is a lift if needed. I visited the cafe with a friend for a light lunch after a morning shopping at Westwood Cross. We had soup of the day which was very good and served with a couple of small rolls. The cafe was extremely busy, although we got served quite quickly. My only negative comment on this cafe is the tables are quite tightly packed where we sat. It would be more comfortable if the tables were better spaced.

Too expensive, have had better similar foods elsewhere. Definatly won't go again. Canterbury's cafe is better, nearly always full, happier.

Pop in at weekends sometimes, wife and I love a snack and coffee while out shopping. Plenty of parking spaces at Westwood Cross, elevator to first floor, café has views over the Cross Mall. Good choice, very clean, staff friendly, what more do you need...

Slightly haughty bossy service. Teapots that flood the tray, but the sandwiches and cake were the usual good standard for M&S;.

Stopped off here for afternoon tea whilst shopping really lovely cafe in the middle of a busy shop lovely atmosphere and friendly helpful staff all the food looked amazing but I just had a pot of tea and a bottle of water very quick efficient service will definitely choose here whenever I go back to Westwood cross highly recommended

Always very busy and have to be lucky to have a place to sit. Staff very friendly and food and drinks are ok. Good place for a moment of rest after going shopping

Ate every day here in Nov 15 due to work. Found the cafe to serve good food and coffee with great cakes too. Really don't understand the 1 star above!

With sub par over priced coffee, poor choice of food for children and some of the worst service I have ever had I would recommend you stay away from here at all costs!

First floor café in this popular store at Thanet's Shopping Centre is very popular and busy. Nice views and comfortable seating with good friendly quick service.
