A friend and I went on a Saturday to have Afternoon Tea, I had spoken to the staff ahead of our visit to ask if it was possible to book so that if it was busy we would have a table. While they said they don't take bookings as such, if I confirmed the date and time we would be coming they would set a table aside for us. I then confirmed our visit and when we arrived they were expecting us, we had a table and our Afternoon Tea was brought out very promptly. The quality of the food was very good, the sandwiches had a variety of fillings, we had three small cakes each and a had a choice of plain or fruit scones, I had fruit and my friend a plain one. The scones were particularly good, they were large, there was plenty of fruit in mine, and we were given a very generous amount of cream. For only £10 we thought it was excellent value and would definitely recommend it.

A friend and I went quite early, around 10.15 am on a Friday morning. It was busy and we had to queue at the food/drink counter for maybe 10 minutes, because only one till was in use, even though there were two tills available. When we got to the point of ordering, the waitress over-filled the little milk jug, so that it spilled over on to the already very dirty counter, as well as on to my tray when I lifted it on, and then slammed all the crockery down very rudely without engaging at all with me, no eye contact. There are no saucers, so everything was spilling over because she was so sloppy. I suggested she wiped the counter top (coffee and tea spilled all over it) and she gave me rather dirty look and turned away. It was not a very good experience, and M&S should be aware how this cafe is letting them down. I would suggest the staff need a bit of training.

My daughter ordered a bubble tea which cost £3.75 , all she ended up with was a glass of water with some bubbles in the bottom, a small little squirt of syrup and 3 chunks of ice, all added with little bits of dirt, what a delightful taste!Really not worth the money.

Staying local for the weekend, called in for breakfast.. limited options only bacon or sausage bap no full breakfast. Very disappointed very small roll with not a lot of bacon in it. Would of been better getting a sandwich from the food hall and a takeaway coffee

Went there with my elderly parents and they both needed to sit down. Trays were dirty, I actually had dried in food on the bottom of my tray, did,nt realise until I was near the tills, gluten free sandwich selection was very poor, coffee was warm not hot, I had soup, I was given a dirty spoon, no salt and pepper on tables. All in all not a good experience, I will not be eating there again

My friends and I decided to treat ourselves to afternoon tea and we thought we would try out M&S at the Mall.We had a choice of sandwiches, a choice of cheese, fruit or Devon scones, warmed. Then there were treats of a mini mince pies, profiteroles and Macaroons.Accompanied by tea or coffee. Afternoon tea is £15.95 for two.All the food was delicious. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, with a very prompt service.Highly recommend this afternoon treat

There are real problems with this M&S Cafe, the tables are not cleaned, the floor is dirty, there are dirty plates with the cakes and sandwiches, it makes me wonder what the state of the kitchen is like. Come on M&S many shoppers are happy to use your cafe, try and live up to your marketing slogan.

It was a toss between the café or their rotisserie on the ground floor. I went for the café as I wanted the cheese egg and mushroom roll. It sounded delicious but when it was heated in the microwave the top of the roll couldn't be cut with a knife and you could not bite it as it was so brick hard. The base was very soggy but I had to eat it as I was hungry. I left the top It did taste very nice but un edible. The knife was sticky with food ,and a staff member behind the counter was really rude to me for no reason. It would have been good value but for M/s a very bad meal. Shan't be going there again. You must step up your standard. I went away starving. September 11th 2019

We had scrambled eggs & toast which was good, they did not do fried eggs with the English breakfast so I had a smoked bacon roll which was average. The luxury hot chocolate was bitter and it was a bit expensive but as it was M&S that was to be expected, the staff were very good.

Perhaps our expectations were too high, but I think one can be forgiven for expecting higher quality from a reputable and highly thought of department store such as M&S. On first impressions, we found ourselves pleasantly surprised by the range on offer, however once the food arrived it became apparent that the cafe seems to have over-stretched themselves by offering too many dishes with which they seem to be unfamiliar. The "burger" turned out to be a tough, overcooked chicken piece placed in between cold buns and garnished half-heartedly with a small dab of mayonnaise and a strand of the type of salad you might purchase for £1 from a high street supermarket. This rather amateur attempt provides the impression of an overall lack of care, and if those in charge are so unfamiliar with burgers as to believe it is adequate to serve damp buns, perhaps they should not be offering them at all.The intriguing sounding "fish-finger sandwich" belonged on the kids' menu; "garnished" carelessly in the same way as the burger and inside bland bread, suggesting a child might actually make it, let alone eat it. Indeed, the 'side' offered with both lunches fitted the theme of disappointment; a stingy spoonful of coleslaw hurriedly finished off with a lone, rather miserable looking pickle. An ill-advised decision has seemingly been made to cram in as many tables as humanly possible, removing any sense of privacy or comfort and creating a loud, intrusive environment more akin to a fast food restaurant than to a department store cafe. Furthermore, most free tables appared dirty and uncleared. Certainly not what one might hope for when taking a break from shopping in the bustling environment of the Mall. This cafe could offer so much more, should due care and attention be paid to the food, cleanliness and surroundings. At present this cafe comes across as a forgotten area of the store in which standards are disregarded.Again, perhaps expectations were too high, and perhaps hoping the cafe would perpetuate the same standards as M&S stores was naive, but hey, at least the coffee was good. As it is however, next time we will head for a well-known competitor, whose food offerings fit the high standards for which their store is so famous.

Very disappointed. We arrived just after opening time Saturday morning. Although there were few customers we were held up at the till with a member of staff on a day off ordering breakfast for her family and faffing about getting the staff discount and her daughters bacon having to be crispy. The food arrived reasonably quickly and looked ok. However the majority of it was cold, especially the poached eggs. I would normally bring this to the attention of the staff but as we were on a tight schedule we let it pass this time. Unfortunately we won’t be returning. Great shame. C’mon M&S you can do better!

I can’t believe I was actually trying to continue to eat what was the saddest excuse for a ‘cheddar’ ploughman’s after struggling through the first half. Every mouthful was full of disappointment and the sandwich itself was not full at all. The ‘cheese’ ( and I use the term loosely) only covered half of the bread and was so thin it was incredible. It did not taste of either cheddar or Red Leicester and the very soggy piece of tomato in each half did not add to the flavour. I have been a fan of this companies take away sandwiches for many years but sadly these bore no resemblance to any I have had in the past. My mother’s egg and watercress were as bad- utterly tasteless, with soggy bread. We didn’t See the point in complaining as they came in machine sealed packs and so were obviously not made on site. We left the inedible, uneaten halves and will not return to this or any other cafe run by M&S;.

We visited to do some shopping at Cribbs Causeway and after had a cup of tea and scone inside M&S; . We tried to sit at a table but it was full up with dirty plates and cups ,I asked the young lady on the till "could some one clear that table " she replied that lady over there with Barista on her tea shirt will clear it " . The lady in question was talking to some people she knew . We waited some 10 minutes , the lady was still chatting so I moved all the plates and cup etc to the end of counter after loosing my patience . We had our tea and scone , which was nice and got up to go and the lady at last finished talking to her friends .( M&S; what is going on with the staff ? ).

I've never had a meal at any M & S cafe and our recent snack at Cribbs Causeway was the average department store fare.
