Menu items had changed. The selection available was poor but I had queued up by then so wasn’t going elsewhere. I ordered the fish and chips. I’m not sure what kind of white fish it was supposed to be but it was utterly tasteless. The chips were soggy. And the portion of tartare sauce was ridiculously tiny. Would never order this again. Once again there were too many tables not cleared, some of the cutlery didn’t look clean, and the staff need training in customer service skills.

Ordered the nutty granola bowl and an americano at 10.09. Went to get some cutlery and that didn’t look particularly clean. Tried to find a table and saw too many tables that hadn’t been cleared. I went back to the till at 10.27 to chase it up and then it was difficult to get the attention of staff. It finally arrived at 10.32 when I’d drank most of my coffee. The food was nice but I’m not sure why I waited 23 minutes for something that doesn’t even require cooking. And the cafe wasn’t anywhere near as busy as it usually is.

Called with my Granddaughter for the 1st time in a few years. Huge queue, nothing for children, dirty tables, no saucers with the cups, milk given in a cup not a jug. Won’t return.

Absolutely atrocious, where do I start....no staff, queuing for 25 minutes, poor attitude of staff behind the counter....it goes on. The queue? If M&S are so focused on the customer they may want to offer seating to those elderly stood in the queue for 25 minutes. The guy behind the counter chatting away as if there is no queue, eventually got served and then started the hunt for cutlery, "excuse me, do you have any cutlery?","why what do you want", "Anything" poor, surly attitude, ended up stirring my coffee with the end of the fork I was eating my cake with. Nope never again.

Very slow serving staff When I got to the front of the queue the server just walked away into the staff room. Came back a few minutes later but still did not serve me. I left my tray and went else where. Will not be going back

This is for Middlebrook store What a pathetic attempt to run a cafe Massive queue 2 serving Order wrong delaying matters further 20min wait in queue Dirty table Filthy floor People sitting down with no food so When you get yours there’s nowhere to sit ! Disgrace It’s not the staff it’s the lack of them Managers in groups of 3 in store talking whilst the queue goes out of the door ! Go and help clothes don’t need moving around again but the cafe need assistance where is their loyalty ? Rubbish rubbish rubbish

Restaurant visit 1:45 pm - Thurs. Nov. 17th. - Couple 65+. Even though the previous reviews go back over 3 years, almost all of them remain an accurate and fair assessment as to how not to run a restaurant within a large departmental store where, historically, the corporate mantra has always been to deliver a quality product / service to the customer. There was a queue of approx. 10 people ahead of us with just 2 staff members taking orders and making up the hot drinks. Painfully slow, and a subsequent 20 minute wait for "cooked meals" (snacks). Our order consisted of a ham hock wrap and a ham and cheese "toastie" plus a portion of chips + tea and hot choc drinks. For our £18 we got a chewy ham hock that looked like a sausage roll and a toastie- and I use the term loosely - that I doubt had ever been in the vicinity of a toaster. It was a disgrace. Tasteless, soggy,and poorly presented - not even any garnish to add a bit of colour. A prime example of how not to impress customers to such an extent, that they wouldn't go near the cafe again. Tables are still too close together, and there was no-one at reception to manage the influx of new customers in terms of organising table clearances and directing people to their seats. I accept that the staff - few as they were- were under pressure, but if you can't provide the basics of good customer service, then people won't return. I am so sad to have to submit such a damning review, but even sadder that, with the odd exception, - despite similar reviews spanning the last 3 years or so, not one blind bit of notice appears to have been taken towards rectifying the same issues being highlighted again and again.

I quite like shopping in this branch of M&S but unfortunately, the café is terrible. I ordered a flat white and the clueless woman behind the counter served up a latte in a small cup. When I pointed out her error the women became very defensive and insisted she had made a flat white. She obviously had no customer service training and continued to try and convince me that I was wrong and she was right. Eventually, the rude woman backed down and served up half a small cup of something that looked and tasted a bit more like a flat white, I then had to sit at a dirty table (no clean ones). My idea of a relaxing few minutes in a café had been ruined. Never again|| M&S get your act together.

Found table full of dirty plates and cups floors dirty no real effort was being made to clear it up.For £5.95 I found the chicken burger overprice two chicken nuggets on a small bun with a few lettuce leave and a small pot of coleslaw disapointing coffee good.

I have to generally agree with the previous comments that service here is usually slow and with a 'could not care less' attitude from several previous visits however today (quite late on a Sunday afternoon I visited whilst my wife browsed the clothing in store. I was greeted witha cheery smile from a pleasent young lady and as it was quite late no queue. The coffee was nice, I do like the taste of M & S coffee, not as bitter as Starbucks, and the cake was OK. Obviously at the end of the day the cake selection was limited but the coffee & walnut chosen was nice, tasty and moist. The restauarant was clean and staff were about clearing tables and cleaning, I appreciate it's easier to do this when it's quieter but on todays visit I could not fault them. I also gotr a cheey goodbye and thank you on my departure so good marks for service today from me.

Scrambled egg was poor and had been re heated, didn’t look like the picture. Odd set-up with all toasted sandwiches on display, but when you take them to the till they tell you to put them back as they’ll be done in the kitchen. Plastic glasses for drinks. Up selling coffee to to the Peru blend Not worth the prices.

Fancied a sit down meal and it was busy at 1pm. Queue was being stewarded so people could find a seat. Nice spot sat against the padded wall. V comfy. Ordering all went well. Nice coffee. Fish finger butty came without mayo but was fantastic. Loved it and the coleslaw with a tiny little gherkin. Lemon drizzle cake was even better. V tasty. Tables a little close together making access & egress a little tricky. But lovely meal.

This has got to be the one of the worst Marks and Spencer cafes in existence. Stopped visiting a while ago because of the slow and disorganised service. Always a long long queue with plenty of staff milling around behind the counter but absolutely no system in place to provide an acceptable level of service. I've returned dirty cutlery, been served milk in chipped jugs and even in espresso cups when the washing up has obviously fallen behind! The food is pretty pricey for basic no frills fare but that's standard throughout the M and S cafes. Anyway this cafe has recently undergone a big refurb so being in a rush and desperately needing a quick bite to eat I thought I'd give it another try. After queuing for an age at their new all bells and whistles double sided counter I was told it would be a twenty minute wait to heat up a cheese toastie!! No thanks. I went next door to Asda and had been fed, watered and was on my way before I'd have even been served in M and S. Maybe the staff should go along to the smaller Wigan branch of Marks to see how a cafe should be run. Always great organisation and service with a smile.

It's a cafe in the middle of Marks and Sparks so couldn't be more convenient, you can take a well earned break during your fight through the Sale bargain rails ... or even better, let your other half do the scrambling whilst you sit back with a coffee and watch the world go by through the massive windows. Either way it's a winner as the food and drink is exactly the standard you would expect from M & S.

When we went into M&S for a breakfast I wasn't sure what to expect because we have had problems with them before. But I have to say they went the extra mile this time. I originally wanted a currant teacake toasted, but ther's have milk in, this is a no go when I have a dairy allergy. Next I asked for some bacon and beans, still a no go as the bacon comes premade on bread that has dairy in it. What about scrambled egg on toast? I asked, still a no as their scrambled eggs come premade with milk and cream in. You can imagine by now there was a huge queue behind me and we were loosing the will to live. Finally, I was offered beans on brown toast, hurray I finally get to eat a breakfast In M&S!! I will remmeber this in other M&S stores as a precedencehas now been set. The breakfast was lovely and we thanked them for their persistance in finding a meal I could eat,

Came here with my daughter for lunch there was a queue because the other side the till was broken,we had chicken bacon and cheese toastie and 2 cokes we didn't have to wait long to be served,we managed to find a table the food was served quickly.The food was ok and the service good.

My husband and I had the full English breakfast. It arrived cold. Bacon was so small wasn't even a child's portion, sausages where cremated.I asked about jam for the toast and was told it is 50p per portion!!!! The waitress had a bad attitude and definitely should not be in the hospitality industry.We came here because previously the good and service was really good. Definitely would not recommend and we will not be returning.No name badge visible, small, slim and rough looking.

ordered on uber eats delivery time was later then said and we got a cheesecake wasn’t anything like cheesecake at all jt was more like a marshmallow and whip cream it came warm and definitely not worth the money do not recommend

Bacon sandwich is just cheap streaky bacon , rubbish had to bin most of it as it was sooo fatty Jacket spud and beans was like elephant skin and hardly any beans . They had no eggs , not really a cafe as it claims . Ok if you want cake. Don’t bother find somewhere else . The coffee was more like warm frothy milk with a couple of coffee beans present Defo not value for money

This is a great branch of Costa they make great coffee the staff are very friendly and the place is always clean.
