Lovely place to sit and watch the world go by. Had a lovely coffee and rabebit. The rabebit bread was very doughy and left a claggy feeling. Shame as I'd treated by friend and he said the same.

We called in for lunch but that turned into cream teas for two. I had the savoury cream tea and my wife had a normal one and, as she is Gluten Free, hers was with Gluten Free scones (not sold by many places). Both were well-presented, delicious and good value for money. As it was sunny, we sat outside but, inside, it is a delightful, old fashioned tea-room. The staff were charming, friendly and helpful. We would go there again and can certainly recommend.

Very disappointed. Always wanted to go in everytime I visit Taunton and this time my husband said ok. No atmosphere when we went in. It is trying to portray luxury, especially with the prices, but it's greatly lacking in many departments. Salt, pepper and sauces in little packets are not luxury, it suggests cheap cafe. You would expect more, like salt & pepper grinders or at minimum shakers plus bottles or jars for sauces. Food was average, a bit of greenery and a drizzle of vinegarette (so out of date) doesn't help. The Breakfast Sandwich had slid apart during service and ended up presented as a breakfast on toast. One of our hot chocolates arrived with a full saucer through spillage and the server was going to leave it. I had to call her back and instead of removing it to get a clean saucer, I was handed a couple of napkins to soak up the excess. If you're trying to suggest you are a superior establishment you must provide the right level of product & service. The prices were extortionate but I thought we were having a luxury treat. 2 hot chocolates (minus a saucer full), a breakfast roll and 2 poached eggs cost over £32!! Disgusting cost for basic. I could have got much better food & service in many of the other places in Taunton and won't be recommending this place

Came in with a few friends for the high tea. At the start, it was lovely was greeted by a waitress (Lil i think her name was) who shown us to our table and was ever so helpful and catered to our needs. We were then left with a waiter who took our order, granted we came in alittle earlier as my 6 year old was hungry so ordered him a sandwich. 25 minutes later I asked when it was coming and I was told “yeah, it’s just on the kitchen side” which frustrated me, the whole reason why I came in earlier was to get something to eat for my 6 year old. When the rest of our party turned up we had the food come out, now considering for what you pay, you really don’t receive. Slithers of sandwiches, the iced cakes that I could have bought from lidi, one pot of coffee for 5 people need I go on? We wanted to book for 1:30/2:00 but made a song and dance that our booking needed to be at 2:30 because it was extremely busy, however the restaurant had emptied out by the time we had sat down. Overall felt left disappointed by the experience and rushed as the restaurant closed at 4, bookings at that time shouldn’t be done if we are going to be rushed, and with the waiter sliding takeaway boxes on the table to take away what was left of the tiny buffet. Wouldn’t recommend.

The sun came out so Mr Miles' outside seatung in the shade was perfect. The fish cake special was delicious. My friends ploughmans substancial and tasty. Lunchtime service with a smile.

Worst ever £57 for three breakfast and 3 drinks the potato cake was more like a blob of mash potato the whole lot was terrible

Who would’ve thought that a trip to meet family in Taunton would re-affirm your faith in humans. What my mum, my aunties and I witnessed in this lovely coffee shop today was so sad and beautiful at the same time. A known customer was upset and the patience and kindness he was shown by the staff was the most genuine and wonderful thing I’ve seen in a long time. Just fantastic. Well done to you all, it was so lovely to see. The coffee was delicious as well!

We've always walked past this place on the way to Boston tea party or The Cosy Club for brunch and mentioned how quaint it looks, must try etc. Today we decided to call in. The window table we were shown too didn't even allow room to sit in a normal seated position - so cramped! After reseating ourselves we looked at the menu. I'm vegan so went for the vegan breakfast roll. At 9.75 I expected more! Two cheap Linda McCartney sausages (probably bought across the road in Iceland for £1 for 6) and some mushrooms. A very sad wisp of undressed side salad on the side with the bonus of one baby tomato. I'm happy to pay more for good food or good ambience. This was £30 for two standard rolls and drinks with neither a nice atmosphere or good food. We'll continue to support elsewhere. Side note, staff were friendly enough, no complaints at all there.

Terrible service . I arrived before my father and asked if it was ok to take a mobility scooter inside as no outside seating . I was told yes but when my father arrived we were told he had to park it in the shop area and walk to the table . This is something he is unable to do . I explained he was unable to walk. My poor father at 93 was turned away in front of everyone . I have no words to describe how embarrassing the whole ordeal was . I was met outside by a lady who said she was also shocked at the staffs reaction and response to my father . Mr. Miles tea room should be ashamed of themselves in these days of inclusivity . That said No 38 in the high street welcomed us with open arms and we had a lovely cream tea, in lovely surrounding which was much cheaper that Mr. Miles .

Went here with my husband for brunch. We both had the creamy mushrooms on toast, which was tasty . This tea room is quirky, twee and very different from the many chain restaurants. It's very popular with pavement seating as well. We sat upstairs with traditional decor, very clean and prompt service. Would definitely visit again .

Stopped here on the off chance when visiting Taunton as I hate using chain restaurants. Nice outside covered seating, good friendly service from staff and Victoria sponge and coffee was delicious. Toilet was also spotlessly clean. Prices reasonable as well Enjoyable visit definitely recommend

You can always rely on getting a lovely cup of coffee with first class service In a friendly and welcoming environment. The only place to go in Taunton as far as I’m concerned!

Stopped at Mr Miles just for coffee but after reading the menu decided to have lunch. The three cheese quiche was so tasty and perfectly warmed, husband had the salmon salad which enjoyed very much. As always, very satisfied.

Mr Miles's Tea rooms is a wonderfully quintessentially English place. You can even sit outside summer. Loose leaf tea or freshly ground coffee; they do meals as well but I fancied and drink and a little snack. Crumpets or teacakes are a wonderful pick me up. There scones and afternoon teas are worth a trip too. Friendly staff and you can even Leaf tea or coffee to take home, not to mention a take-away drink if you're in a rush. I really enjoyed this little oasis of calm and can't recommend it enough

Having had a previous bad experience with this tearoom where the kitchen seemed to have forgotten that we had ordered, we had hoped that it was just a one off. However, the fruit scones which were ordered arrived as plain ones. The pleasant waitress quickly checked and confirmed that the kitchen had made an error but they were eventually replaced with fruit scones as ordered. By the time they arrived my wife had nearly eaten the ones she had ordered. The waitress checked again a few moments later to see if all was now ok but I had found that the scones were heavily laced with vanilla which was overpowering and unpleasant. She asked if there was anything they could do and I commented that it could have been mentioned when ordering or even stated on the menu. The reply was “ Sorry we cannot change the recipe we use” In addition, the amount of jam & cream provided was insufficient for two scones and the overall price rather high. The coffee was however very nice. We shall never return and advise others to avoid it also.

Having visited before and not entirely happy with the way we were neglected, but they were very busy on that occasion we came away saying never again. We changed our minds and thought we would give it a second chance, it was two years since. The waitress was very attentive and took our order, we both wanted a cream tea. Mine was gluten free, although very dry they were nice and hot but I only had enough jam and cream for one scone so took the other one away with me. My husband ordered fruit scones but when they arrived they were plain, so had to be replaced which seemed to take ages, I’d almost finished my dry one when his came to the table. As soon as he cut into his scone the smell of vanilla wafted over us, he said they were overwhelming in vanilla taste that he couldn’t taste anything else. I took a small piece and yes, just too much vanilla. We mentioned this to management but we got a very heated and much too loud for comfort reply that they are done to a recipe and no complaints. Maybe on this occasion the scone maker might of doubled up on the vanilla as I’m sure a fruit scone should taste like a fruit scone not a vanilla bun. I just wanted to leave asap, shall never return, will not be spoken to like that, we were trying to be helpful.

Lovely venue and very friendly staff. The cream tea was nice but the tiny amount of cream and jam was ridiculously small and not enough for 2 scones. There is a difference between not wanting wastage and serving less cream and jam than most other places serve for just one scone. Customers should not need to ask for more.

I visited twice in three days, and it’s lovely to have the same warm welcome and friendly service as in the past. Cheese scones were delicious, and I was delighted that no one was misguided enough to put sugar in them as often happens elsewhere.

We had Cream Tea here outside on a sunny Sunday. Staff were excellent as was the tea. Only downside was we were plagued by wasps but they are not to blame for that! Definitely will be back again soon.

This is not a complaint but hopefully a constructive review that the restaurant managers could discuss and possibly develop.We attended yesterday, as a family, for breakfast. We were seated outside (would have preferred inside but assume that this isn’t possible due to social distancing rules) and were greeted by an outstanding male member of staff. This server had brilliant communication skills with our young child. When taking the menu they we’re fully happy to amend and change dishes to suit us. The downside of outside was the number of wasps. The restaurant had done their best to attract them away from customers by having bottle of what looked like sugar water under the drop tables and we know it’s nothing they can control.We all had a breakfast. Quality and cook on the bacon and sausages was brilliant. The granary /wholemeal toast as far as I was concerned was brilliant however it was also served on the child’s meal. An alternative option for a child to have a white toast would have been good. The potato cakes for me were a disappointment. I prefer them made with diced or grated potato and these felt as if they were made with mashed potato. I was also a little disappointed with the black pudding. I could tell it was a nice quality, however it was a very very very thin slice. This made it very difficult to cook and hence it was overcooked and crispy. My taste is to have a black pudding which is about a cm thick and then it can be heated through without going crispy. The drinks were good we had a coffee and two milkshakes. All drinks were excellently presented. The cream and sprinkles were received well by our daughter. I however do not like whipped cream on milkshakes and had i noticed this on the menu that the cream was on it I would have requested mine without the whipped cream. I stress that a lot of what I raise was down to my taste. Please do not let this put you off as I would certainly use this restaurant again and I would recommend it to others.

We came this afternoon for a high tea and it was vey nice indeed. The first plate of the stand was sandwiches with good selecting. Cucumber sandwich, ham sandwich and egg and cress sandwich. We had white and brown bread. The second plate was scones, jam and clotted cream. The top plate was mini cake and some blueberries, raspberries and strawberries. We had a pot of tea which was very nice with a little sieve as it was loose tea. The man that took the order look confused as we asked if the sandwiches had smoked salmon as we don't like it. So the man want and asked for use. We meet our friends who live in Taunton. We had to sit upstairs and that was ok. The only problem they have no lift if you are in a wheelchair you can't get upstairs unless you go up on you bum. We said it is a bit like being in the Disney hotel as it was very posh upstairs. When it is windy outside you don't really won't to sit outside as not much shelter from the wind.

We enjoyed an excellent full English breakfast ,a hot chocolate and an Americano. The food was beautiful and the service excellent, good old fashioned service at it's best. This is a lovely place and I always enjoy my visit. All the current protocols are being adhered to to keep everyone safe.

We expected places to be closed due to the Covid 19 and so were pleasantly surprised but definitely check before you go!

On a day visit to Taunton we found Mr Miles and had a delicious lunch there. The service and set up with all the new restrictions was outstanding. Yes we had to queue but were offered complimentary water while waiting, once seated our order was taken promptly. Food and drink was placed near our table for us to collect to ensure distancing remained. It was extremely hot on the day of our visit but the staff gave brilliant service throughout.

I haven’t been here for ages, but was attracted by the 'new' outside space and the lovely weather. Food and coffee was great. Names and phone numbers were taken before being shown to a table. They have a very odd process for dealing with the Covid situation: orders are taken at the table and your order is delivered on a tray to a nearby empty table from where you collect it. However it’s not clear whether you should take the tray..or not. We left ours, it was collected by a member of staff. Menus were collected from the table and put back on their pile under the counter.....as were a couple that had blown on the ground. The process for paying also needs clarification.

After recently experiencing a really poor effort by a national chain coffee shop in Taunton - no contact info taken, poor cleaning attempts, rubbish coffee and a very shouty member of staff!! Mr Miles is a great place to go - a calm and relaxed environment.Very Covid aware - contact details taken, sanitising tables, creating space between customers etc Also serve great coffee!Staff as friendly and helpful as ever.Previous review July 2018 - I'm still impressed!

Not sure this place has got it right.I don’t like the way that none of the staff wear any PPE. I don’t like the way they do not bring your food or drink to your table but place it on another table. This is not helpful to the disabled. I saw one man in a large wheelchair told to fetch his own coffee.I will not be visiting again.

Getting the customer order correct is the first rule in customer service. Shocking service, overpriced and loads of dirty flies in the place!

I went here with a friend early in the morning for a cup of coffee and cake. The coffee was great and the cake was delicious. We noticed how busy it got. It is a lovely place to while away some time. The food is great as well. I would definitely recommend this place.

I went in on a tuesday mid afternoon was steady good to see for an independent business. We got a warm friendly welcome and seated swiftly we all went for afternoon tea the sandwiches and cake was delightful in a clean efficent enviroment.Th staff were all smiling and seemed to be communicating well among themseleves which being in the trade its crucial. Our waitress emma with blonde hair so amazing in the way she spoke served and presented herself no request was a issue for her bless her. EMMA seemed to be an asset to your buissnes and sure she go far please give her my thanks we certainly be returning in the near future thank You again

The cafe is situated in double-fronted premises with wide windows. The interior is really pretty with crockery and tea/coffee on display, and comfortable quality chairs and tables in the cafe section. There is a warm welcome as you enter. We had to wait quite a few minutes for our order to be served but it was well worth waiting for. The coffee definitely gave me a noticeable lift and I skipped along for the rest of the afternoon. A charming tea shop, indeed!

We experienced here recently. It seemed like a nice, traditional tea room and the food was tasty. However, firstly, before we were even seated, I could see and hear the female manager being snappy and rude to staff, which I felt was quite wrong in front of customers, however busy you might be. Something that probably wouldn’t happen if the owner was present. Luckily the staff took it on the chin and kept smiling, obviously used to her, but I felt quite uncomfortable. Secondly, although we had a lovely waiter, they didn’t seem to be able to answer any questions about the food. A 10% service charge is added to the bill for everyone - rude manager included? I wondered what service we were paying extra for - the preparation of food on this occasion perhaps - not the service. I like to choose how much tip I pay and who I give it to. Whilst there is the option to have it removed from the bill, I don’t think many people would want to as it is a small amount, but I would have liked the tip to be my choice and not presumed (given the choice, I normally leave more). So, overall I’m not sure about this place and don’t know if I want to experience it again.

A lovely tea shop on the high street, I didn't realise how big it was until I went inside. The surroundings are lovely, and the food was very good. A great place for lunch, I really enjoyed my visit.

Popped in here with a friend last Friday afternoon for a cream tea. Although we were fairly late, after 4pm, we were greeted warmly and offered a choice of tables. Menus were brought and we ordered, fruit scones for my friend and gluten free scones for me, with tea. These arrived promptly and we both agreed were delicious. Ample jam and cream and a nice large pot of tea. Even though we were now approaching their closing time, there was no hurry and we were allowed to finished our tea in peace, while the staff prepared to close up. All in all a lovely experience and one I shall be repeating soon.

We called here for morning coffee which was excellent, and after shopping decided to come back for lunch. My wife had a ploughmans which was epic, not only a lot of cheese but also both ham and salami and a side salad. I had a splended seafood linguine at very reasonable prices. An assett to Taunton. Prompt servise and efficient staff. Well done.

Lovely welcome by charming staff, who were also willing to keep a secret, which meant the husbands had two cakes each! Glorious home baked cakes, good sized helpings and freshly ground coffee. What more can one ask. A very homely cafe, very clean and well presented. Thank you.

the coffee was very nice and reasonably priced, i really did enjoy it, the waitress we had was not that very good though, she brought us the wrong drink and the wrong size and only one cup for two people, she also messed up the orders of both the tables next to us, she was just not paying attention. the decor is nice and everything seems clean

Mr Miles is a good place to visit if you like quality over quantity. The loose leaf tea was lovely as was the breakfast. Really good attentive service and not too much to complain about. Similar in price to Brazz which offers better food.

It is nice to find establishments in towns that go their own way. We can all eat in chain restaurants but it is refreshing to find something a little different. This is a coffee shop/cafe/restaurant attached to store selling a lot of interesting tea and (especially) coffee items which is worth wandering around in its own right.

I only had a coffee but it was professionally baristered and from a good quality tasty bean. Table service was delivered with a smile, staff very friendly, so thanks to them for their professionalism.

I went to Mr. Miles yesterday afternoon to buy some coffee beans. We often have afternoon teas and lunches here too and had great experiences.We got some house blend a few months ago and absolutely loved it. Thought we'd stock up some other good ones. When I arrived, there were 3 staff standing around the till. I looked at them, smiled and said "hi, just gonna get some coffee". They didn't say anything back nor did they move. I went to the coffee shelf and waited for a good few minutes. Still, no one was coming to serve me. I then turned to them and said " please can I have some help?". Then, one of the girls said to the other "oh, she wants some help". I did think about just leaving the shop and go somewhere else for my coffee. But thought better give them a chance, plus they do have amazing coffee. I did get served in the end but the whole experience was not something I was expected at Mr. Miles. If the beans turn out no as good as the staff recommended then I will seriously think about shopping somewhere else.

I popped to the cafe with a friend, initially for coffee. We sat outside in the sun which was lovely.

Stopped off for a lovely coffee, sitting outside. Service was very good, reasonable price and the smell of roasting coffe - devine. Well worth a visit.

Popped in for lunch, unsure if we'd even get a table on a busy Saturday. However we were in the function room and although it was so noisy my husband had to take his hearing aids out, that isn't the fault of the staff. To be fair the noise level diminished rapidly as a few tables left quite soon, but unfortunately not the noisiest!

Today I visited with a friend for a nice lunch and sat outside in the sunshine. Tom was nice and showed us to a table. The food was lovely and they did take our food order really quickly but I felt rushed which I don’t like as sometimes I don’t get to have a nice enjoyable lunch out. I didn’t have a check back and when I went to order desserts I got ignored by a few members of staff that walked past. Once they took are order they then took ages to clean are plates so overall been finished for about half an hour and still had my plate in-front of me. I come here regularly and can honestly say today was the worst visit.
