collected my order and realised they forgot my rice. Rang up and they said they would send some. No rice arrived for over an hour and by then my food was cold. Rang up multiple times to chase the food and the owner put the phone down on me

Always used this restaurant for years and noodle boxes have always been amazing , but the last few times we have had the noodle boxes and have been more like a sloppy wet tasting noodles! If they have changed their chefs then they will be another restaurant closing down soon in York.. I won’t be ordering from them again.

Curry sauce was as hard as concrete had to put it on the hob to get it as a liquid and even then it tasted horrible. Probably sat there since the night before. Prawn crackers stale and I had a very bad stomach for nearly a week. Mr Happy? more like Mr clinically depressed. If you want a proper Chinese try New Hong Kong instead. Look at all the other reviews for this disaster of a place no idea how it's still open.That review further down by that Joanne is probably a joke Still waiting for this place to appear on Kitchen Nightmares with a stubborn owner who thinks the food is nice when it's not! Ordered a noodle box large and it came small, 1 of them was spicy when didn't even order a spicy box, there horrible 1 box has loads of meat and the other box hasn't!! Rang restaurant for them to tell me they will send extra boxes out. Also ordered the mix box for 2 and the spare ribs not 1 bit of taste on them tasted all watery not very nice at all Don't think I will be ordering again

This restaurant should be shut down by the government. I got a cockroach in my chow mein. The other food tastes like garbage. It’s a scam of money. No Refund, late delivery cold and dirty food. For your own sake, you shouldn’t come to this place and give your cash to them!!!!!! Health safety Concern and dishonest owner. The council should check with this Mr. happy noodle bar.

Horrible hygienic restaurant. You should totally avoid it. Food tastes many days overnight.I got a few Flies with the dishes I ordered. My son got fever, diarrhea and vomiting For a few days, as well as me and my husband. I saw the Chinese chef in the kitchen With very greasy hair and dirty hands. I think a council should check with this restaurant to ensure the public health.

The worst, no go restaurant a complete scammed of money. Food is absolutely terrible. Everyone got diarrhea afterwards after having the meal in my family.

Avoid. Food took 2 hours to arrive. Called the restaurant to politely see where my food was. "To get a short "it's on its way" and then put the phone straight down. Still waiting on food so can't comment on the quality.

Didn't go there, and never would. I was at Pizza Choice next door. I have used Mr Happy before, twice, and that was to give it a second chance. Silly, really.

Ordered take out from here as we normally don't have a bad experience however after tonight we will never be ordering from here again when our order arrived we were missing a portion of chips and the batter on the prawns balls was raw (something that isn't worth risking on shellfish) when we rang to inform the restaurant of this we were told they do not serve raw food and our order would have to be collected before a replacement would be sent after the food was collected the lady in the restaurant told us there is nothing wrong with the food and that she feels we think there food isn't good enough and our order will be canceled and to order elsewhere Long story short service and attitude of staff on the phone is appalling

1 dish was smothered in sauce when never had it like that anywhere else. 1 dish had hair in it and greedy and egg fried rice was very very bland. Waited a HR and half for this disappointment

Never ever go here the Atmosphere and food are actually disgusting and they never get your order right, on top of this the customer service is awful with the people on the phone being very disrespectful never ever order from here I beg.

Not a recent experience but a certainly memorable one. Had a party and we all fancied chinese so we ordered a pretty large order. Came up to about 60 quid for all of us. Big order and it was a Friday night so understandable it would take a while. But 4 hours?????? Eventually food got here but we ended up ordering maccies in the meantime cause we were starving. Got the food. I ordered a chow mein. My friend ordered some chicken balls or something or the other. Anyways, was not off the toilet for the next 3 days. Do not order from here unless you wanna miss work from food poisoning. Chicken tasted really rubbery and the chow mein sauce was like water. None of my other mates ate their food either. Absolutely horrid food and a scam of a place as they refused to issue a refund for inedible DANGEROUS food. COOK YOUR CHICKEN PROPERLY OR DONT RUN A TAKEAWAY

I used to order crispy beef with boiled rice but I received dry (altered) rice with a dubious color and cripy beef had become elastic like chewing gum. Surprised still open and able to afford a living.

I have just had a takeaway meal from MrHappy chinese. The food was lovely, the staff were so so busy in there, hence the freshness. I read the reviews on here which weren’t good but sometimes you should just give a place a go, for me my meal was fab. Will definitely be returning.

Ran nearly 1 hour late and was cold when I recieved it when I requested for part refund for there delay in delivery they refuse I would recommend that if you want a hot meal to stay away from Mr happy as they don't deliver hot meals

Ordered through just eat. Food arrived luke warm, very very dry. Chow mein noodles had a very odd taste, almost like mushroom taste. Absolutely vile so left half the meal. Ended up with food poisoning afterwards. Used to be our favourite Chinese but will never use again.

Wondering where the rest of my 20 quid meal is? It’s just turned up and I’ve had to stick the little we got it in the microwave. We’ve ordered from here before and it’s been fine… but this time was beyond disappointing

the pad thai was literally plain noodles with sweet chilli sauce slathered all over it. Ordered a chicken dish too which tasted weird. Threw both away after a few bites. The only decent dish i had was the banana fritters, though i wouldn't say it was fantastic. I wish i had listened to the earlier reviews, especially with respect to the pad thai. Avoid at all costs

NEVER ARRIVED!! AVOID!!! Waited for 2 hours being very patient, called a few time to get answer phone, then got a notification saying delivered and I can tell you from my very starving pregnant self it certainly WAS NOT HERE! Can’t even refund either, so now starving and £30 down, brill. We’ve tried using the chat function on Deliveroo but they keep ending the chat. We took a chance ordering from here because we’re not overly fussy people but If you’re thinking of doing the same don’t make the mistake!

Meal was clearly then thrown back in a dirty pan and dispatched back to me. Still managed to be undercooked. On the plus side, the food was nicely seasoned with campylobacter!

Amazing food, took a while but its a saturday in the summer hols so thats expected, when i called they were lovely and honest about why it was running a little late. haha

I wish I had seen the review I ordered on just eat. Shame I don’t think you can tell just eat how terrible the food is. Shredded chicken with lemon. I think it’s lettuce they have used to make it look like a lot. It’s not the nicest shredded chicken dish I’ve had. The chips were over cooked as well. At least I ordered prawn toast it’s actually nice. So I won’t go hungry.

If i could give less stars i would! Our meal was almost 2 hours late, everytime we called (3 times) they kept saying our order was being made and will out for delivery soon. The lady on the phone was incredibly rude and refused to give us a refund on our last call. When the order finally arrived it was nasty, very greasy and I'm not convinced it was actually cooked properly! Meal in the bin and we're out of pocket. NOT HAPPY!

Was worried after seeing all the reviews but the food I ordered was actually okay. I will agree about sauces though, our curry sauce was very thick and snot like but again taste was okay. However took an hour and half to arrive, and delivery guy was very rude claiming he’s been trying to call me for past half hour and left food on the curb of outside apartment block and drove off yet my phone had no record of anyone calling

Actually shocking, had been out all day and we were starving, ordered salt & pepper chips and I swear there were only about 8 chips! I paid £4.60 for them, the curry did not taste nice at all I was so gutted!

Worst takeaway in york , came today and I have to say this was the worst meal I’ve had - the crispy chilli beef had barely any meat in it and when it did it turned out it was chicken not beef , the shredded salt and pepper chicken had no chicken in it what so ever , I was chewing on batter - the curry sauce was also thick, gloopy and green

This is the worst Chinese takeaway I’ve ever had. The Special Chow Mein was so dry and just bland and salty, with little in the way of quality ingredients. The Special Fu Yung was salty and again lacking ingredients. They were busy taking calls and seemed overwhelmed with orders to fulfil.

Can’t comment on the food as it didn’t arrive. Don’t waste your time

Joint 1st place for the worst York Chinese. Well done, good effort. 2 hrs for inedible food. Chow Mein that smells and tastes of cigarettes. Curry sauce that's solid and possibly 3 day old chips!

Foul. Chow mein is only noodles. The "beef" chow mein smells and TASTES like cigarette ash. Inedible. The curry sauce is also inedible, you can cut it with a knife and disgusting colour, taste and consistency. Waited 2 hours. They were not answering the phones. Suprised it even turned up. Really, don't believe the good reviews, they must be paid. Save your money, there is no hope for this place. Absolutely disgusting is an understatement. 0 starts is too good for them.

It's only 1 star as you can't go into minus numbers. Ordered from here on ubereats and estimated it would be 30-50 mins. An hour later I called to see what the issue was, the rude uninterested woman on the phone said it's on its way. 20 minutes later (it's a 5 min walk from my house) the woman said it's on the way, I told her I live round the corner, how on earth is it taking so long. After 3 phone calls and over 2.5hrs later the food arrived piping hot. So if it was on the way after an hour how did it stay so hot for 1.5hrs...ridiculous. The food was like rubber, flavourless and certainly undercooked. Got a refund and ordered elsewhere, total joke. I genuinely worry about people who think it's is good, quality Chinese food

This little takeaway had only 2.1 stars so I nearly went to a different one close by, so pleased I didn’t , service was excellent and fast and food was delicious. I had sweet and sour chicken and it was the best! Would have taken a photo but all nearly gone it’s that nice ❤️

Arrived over an hour late 20:30….marked as delivered on the app at 19:15 i tried calling once it was 15min late no answer I actually went to the shop when it was 30 Mins late to check they where actually open in the shop they said it was on its way this was at 20:00 when it eventually arrived it wasn’t exactly hot to eat to top it off they had forgotten the drinks I requested i would call but they dont seem to grasp the thing ringing on the counter top has customers on the other line…they where actively ignoring it while i was in the shop

Absolutely disgusting got delivery chips reheated god knows how many times hardly any beef in curry but what I did get was slimy and chewy curry was all onions no taste to the sauce. Prawn toast was over cooked £13 down the drain never using again also urge anyone who is reading these reviews stay well clear. How could anybody give 5 stars to this place and eat there for 3 nights in a row mustn't have any taste buds. Mr Happy my a#@e more like Mr Puke.

Me and a group of friends ordered food from here last night, the staff were borderline rude and uninterested in taking our orders, the sauces were like snot and to make our experience just that much more enjoyable today we woke up to discover we all had food poisoning and that each of us had all been throwing our food back up throughout the night. Safe to say we were far from happy with the service.

We have received our order 30 minutes late and our pad thai noodle boxes came with no crushed peanuts (not what it says in the description). The food overall is simply okay

The worst customer service and attitude from the driver and manager. After ordering from Uber eats, the restaurant delivered our food to the wrong address despite notes to describe the house. After numerous phone calls and being shouted at by the driver down the phone, they told us ‘there was nothing they can do’. This left us over 2 hours after ordering with no food but they were more than happy to take our money. Such bad service and really do not appreciate being shouted at down the phone when trying to query where our food was. Do not use this Chinese, there are many better places with better service. I wish I had seen the google reviews before ordering as they reiterate how bad this place is. I also wish I could give 0 stars.

Ordered on Just eat got 2 texts from just eat to say the order would be delayed because they were busier than normal, order was placed at 7pm it arrived at 8.51pm almost 2 hours after the order and it was completely wrong. Managed to get the driver before she left and gave her it back for a refund called the shop and they didn't seem bothered just said that I could have the food for free, although I'd given it back already. Our dinner ended up being some sandwiches from the shop. Never ordering from here again.

Really dissappointed. Ordered my usual Pad Thai which arrived as noodles coated in sweet chilli sauce. When I called to say that my order was wrong I was told that's what Pad Thai is.

we’ve been students for four years and we LOVE mr happy! consistently excellent, amazing customer service, and most importantly the food is AMAZING!! (we personally recommend the noodle boxes, which are the best we’ve ever had). Incredibly sad to leave mr happy after four amazing years, but will definitely be back for more xxx

Came to York with my family for the weekend/Bank Holiday and ate from Mr Happy for three nights! That’s how much we enjoyed the meals we orders - Shrimp Fried Rice, Chicken Fried Rice and Chicken in OK sauce. The meals were tasty, in generous quantities and consistent for all threee nights ordered. Plus the extra treat given on the last night was a surprise. Thank you so much. Would definitely recommend and be ordering when next I’m in York! Just one slight downside, the wait time and delivery issues experienced ordering from Just eat, but the quality of the meals compensated for it!😁

Delivery an hour late, takeaway not interested when rang to see where food was. Some food barely warm when it eventually arrived. Ordered through just eat app, tried to ask for some sort of refund, not interested Wish I'd checked other reviews rather than just looking at the Just Eat ones

15 minutes early, food was spectacular would highly recommend!

Food arrived on time, however the 1/4 crispy duck was very disappointing - very little meat but lots of greasy skin. We phoned up at the time to ask about this but were told that this is 'how we serve it', the gentleman on the phone didn't want to know and wasn't very accommodating. The rest of the food was okay apart from a long hair in the dumplings (we both have short hair so definitely not ours) and rubbery squid in the noodles. Overall, customer service on the phone was poor and would not recommend.

I rang to ask where it was and they said they called my mobile and when I didn't answer (I didn't recognise the number - not a local number or mobile) they took the food back to the restaurant!
