Mr Chips in Thanet

I like to grab a bag of chips when on the school run. Mr Chips is one of my favourite places to visit and they have always cooked the chips fresh when I have been there.

Came here late on a Thursday lunch time and we had two small meals.. cod bites and battered sausage with chips. Both were really nice and portions much bigger than expected. Service was brilliant too... would 100% recommend and definitely come back when in the area.

Always lovely food here, best chip shop in Ramsgate, in my opinion. Chips are so nice, batter nice & crunchy & the fish is huge. Food is always cooked in front of you & always piping hot. Prices have risen significantly, though, which I do understand as costs have increased everywhere. However, the chip portions have decreased. But all in all, it's a great chip shop.

Huge piece of fish chips were great but the batter was out of this world and I don't normally eat it !!!

I have been going here for years and the chips and fish are always the best. Cooked fresh, always clean, with friendly smiles and a bit of banter.

Je kan hier lekker eten. Veel keuze uit vis. Het bord was goed gevuld waardoor je het lastig op kon krijgen. De service was prima. De sfeer was rustig. We waren net na het middageten waardoor het best rustig was.

Worst piece of large cod ever it was more batter than fish the cod looked anorexic. The chips were nice

Not a nice place unfriendly staff definitely no smiles from anyone when I visited & the customer's are not that great either! You have to wait for everything to be cooked nothing ready to go?

Best chip shop in Ramsgate. Everything is freshly cooked to order and the chips are without doubt the best!!

Whilst the food is acceptable. I am staggered by the need to place a temporary levy on the price of Chips ...... The Main menu behind the counter still quotes £2.50, but I was charged £3.10 due to an unexpected rise in the price of potatoes by their suppliers. The increase is is noted on a piece of paper stuck next to the menu and on the counter. This increase is over 20%. Really! is there a sudden shortage of spuds causing an unbelievable rise in price. Why not get potatoes from another supplier? The whole situation is pathic...... I'll go to somewhere else in future! Another customer lost! But do they care? Probably Not!

Lovely food but no matter what time you come you have a long wait. We would use a lot more but for this! I understand if you are waiting for fish to be cooked but same with pie or sav sitting on display 🤷🏻‍♂️

Love this chip shop! Batter is so crispy and not greasy. Great portion sizes and reasonably priced. 100% recommend. Even open on Sundays when you can not bother cooking. Brillant!

Just had fish and chips yesterday made me fill sick . Cold and oily. Almost through up from it . Never order again . And I called them they told me to speak to just eat . But just eat didn’t cook the food . That’s a very poor excuse.

Very overpriced. The menu prices are misleading and my cod and chips were covered in black specks where the frying oil needed filtering.

Stodge and grease. Cod bites were so greasy we filled up an empty bottle of oil just from the paper. Avoid! How it has 4.6 I do not know.

Best fish and chips in Thanet period!

The food took longer than I was told when I ordered so had to stand around about 20 mins as was told about 10 minutes but more like half an hour The woman who always seems to be there wears her mask at her chin which is totally pointless Food can be good though but varies as sometimes a bit undercooked

Never had a bad meal from them, their chips are superb.

This place was busy when I went in. The staff are great, good level of customer service and the food is good too. I randomly went in the morning with mix feelings however wasn't disappointed. Recommended and worth a try.

This is the best chip shop ever! I have never had a bad meal from here and tonight is no exception. The price is reasonable when you look at the size. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Went here today for first time, I had cod and chips and my husband had jumbo sausage in batter & chips. My cod was lovely, I had medium but it was a huge piece. Crispy batter, beautiful white fish nice and fresh. The chips were crisp and non greasy and tasted wonderful, my husband’s really enjoyed his too. We will definitely return here, the first impression was great!

popped into Mr Chips on way home from Wickes . Served immediately by young lady and owner explained about the new batter mix . Food was perfectly cook and well worth the money . Will use this shop again very clean and welcoming.Just eaten a delicious meal of cod and chips , absolutely gorgeous . Fish fresh and flakey , battter thin and cooked to a crisp. Lots of golden soft piping hot chips with added salt and vinegar . So pleased despite the virus still around we can still enjoy fish and chips . Yummy

I visited this chip shop on 6th may.as it is just around the corner from me. And it's always good to have a choice of local chippy's.When I unwrapped the fish and chips at home, I was disappointed with the amount of chips for a Large portion. We are not a greedy couple and we were disappointed that we didn't get a large portion of the lovely cooked chips.That was my only complaint.fish was beautiful.

Avoid this place... Fish was disgusting. Chips dry and old like they had been sitting in the warmer all day. Not nice at all.

This fish and chip shop must be the best in Thanet as the food is always pipping hot and taste so good the shop is clean the staff are friendly and i love the fact that you can ring them up place your order go and collect it and when you get there you wait a few mins why the dish it up and you pay and away you go and when you get back home in my case 10 mins or so the food is still pipping hot .Also there cod is a super size so big that it lays over the plate and is enough for two people and there rock has always been spot on so with the price and the postions i think that you ca not go wrong with Mr chips .Try them i am sure you will like them as much as we do ,we use these once a week if we can

After a long day of driving and sightseeing, we didn’t feel like sitting in a restaurant. Stopped here on our way back to the hotel. They have a vegetarian burger option which is tasty. It can be bought as a “meal deal” with chips. Honestly, the portion of chips is so big the veg burger wasn’t needed. The chips are cooked to perfection. You’re asked if you want salt and vinegar on them. They’re wrapped up in three layers of paper and are lovely and hot. Absolutely delicious. The staff are so friendly and polite. The prices are really good. Really impressed all round and will definitely be back when we’re next in the area.
