Visited the restaurant for the first time with my family. Have to say, the staff are super polite but was shocked with the price at the end. It came 120 pounds for three of us, two adults and one child. I mean the food is very nicely decorated, very tasty but the portions so small for the price. The space is small and people coming in with dogs. Its a very small space. I mean its cute but still the price OMG. We havent even had a dessert and my child had a children portion. We had 3 drinks, 3 meals, 3 sides and 1 starter. Somewere else we can all eat and drink with dessert for half price. I mean well done guys for the reputation but I had to add my comment. I dont think I can afford this next time and its not even a spaceous or luxurious. I could rather grab a fish and chips for 5 ponds behind a corner rather If I would know it will come that much. We poped in thinking they would have affordable prices. Thanks for kindnes and good luck.

Exceptional ingredients and cooking, with chefs who truly understand how to prepare the freshest produce and bring out its unique flavours and characteristics. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. The decor is tasteful, and despite its compact size, the ambiance is outstanding, offering views of Margate's beautiful beachside right from your table. However, I encountered a couple of displeasures during my visit. Firstly, the semi-open kitchen design, coupled with poor ventilation, filled the dining area with cooking odours whenever certain dishes were being prepared. If opting for a semi-open kitchen, more consideration should be given to an effective smoke extraction system. Additionally, a mandatory £1 "donation" per person and a 12.5% service charge were added to our bill without prior consultation. While I'm willing to tip for good service, I believe tipping should be at the customer's discretion, not automatically assumed - especially in a bistro, not a Michelin-starred fine dining establishment. Regarding the donation, I understand the high unemployment rates in Margate and the efforts charities are making to assist newcomers to the culinary field. However, whether to donate should be based on the customer's support for the campaign, not the establishment's. A [direct addition] of a donation to the bill is uncomfortable and kind of rude; it would be preferable to inquire if customers wish to contribute, rather than assuming. I reluctantly leave a one-star rating, hoping the restaurant team realizes that minor details shouldn't mar the excellent food, superb cooking, and front-of-house team's efforts.

An absolute must visit. Turbot is exquisite and never thought peppercorn sauce is such a great combination to turbot. They’ve turned down the base with mushroom base so it’s not as heavy to complement the turbot. Every dish is very deliberate and well thought out. The desert rhubarb crumble is a must also and wish I had two of these! Don’t be put off by the tables at the back do the restaurant. I prefer them. More cosy and less traffic.

We came based on the recommendation in the Michelin guide and the great reviews. Overall we had a nice dinner experience (good seafood is hard to find despite the many seaside towns in Kent). Especially the mains were amazing (turbot/lemon sole), nicely seasoned and cooked, generous portions. The other courses did not reach this level. The poached oysters were lost under a large amount of hollandaise sauce so that you couldn't taste the main ingredient anymore. The mussels were nice, though you have to order bread as a side if you want to enjoy this starter, which is 50% broth, to its fullest. The dessert, flourless chocolate cake came with a caramel sauce and a dollop of cream cheese, didn't taste of much and was overpriced for that it was (10£). Wines start at 32£ a bottle. We spent £150 for 2 oysters, 1 starter, 2 mains, 1 dessert, 1 bottle of wine. The atmosphere (at least in the front room) was lively, partly due to the open kitchen design. Only drawback, when something got burned in the kitchen they had to open the front window, reducing the temperature in the room from 'just warm enough' to 'better put on a jacket'. Service was ok, friendly. Would recommend it for a light lunch, for a full dinner it wasn't worth the money.

Great food, great wine, not cheap!. We made a booking with a small quiet dog but one waitress in particular was almost school teacher-like about it, to the point it ruined the lunch. You’re either dog friendly or not. Our dog is a Shih Tzu - didn’t make a sound but was obviously making the waitress uncomfortable. We can’t 100% keep the dog under the tiniest bistro table. Occasionally it will pop its head out.

We made a reservation on a Tuesday afternoon lunch from 2pm. It is a popular place and always fully booked. The food and beverage, claimed to be sourced from local, are all of high quality. We ordered crab as starter and Bream and Hake as mains. They were all very delicious and we enjoyed them. The restaurant was small and cozy. Perhaps it is too small, One of the waiting staff seemed very depressed, another were careless/tired, When she tidied up the table, she was so ambitious to do all the plates at once in front of me. In the end, the leftover olive oil from the dish was spilled all over me. (What a nice aftertaste :) Despite all these we enjoyed the meal, you just need to be appropriately clad.

The food was exquisite. Though the whole appearance, service (not offering even a printed menu and what was written on the board was hand written and not readable) was that of a trattoria. After having two appetisers and two mains and one side dish, we left the restaurant hungry, paying too much for what we received. Another thing is if in the name of the dish is mentioned: fish and clams. Then I’d expect more than 5 clams in the dish. Mentioned the ingredient in the name means that this is the one of the protagonists of the dish, cannot treat it as a decoration.

This review is based on my own experience. I'm not the kind of guy who usually writes reviews, but this time, I really felt the necessity to write one.If you’re visiting Margate and don't want to feel scammed, avoid to go to Angela’s restaurant. We were there trusting the huge amount of positive reviews. The establishment standard is not what you expect from a fancy place and the service is comparable to a street food stall, but what they are selling you is a “gourmet” cuisine. They probably don’t know that you cannot run a gourmet restaurant while at the same time offering a service typical from a chippy restaurant. Where do I start. They let us wait for more than 2 hours for a table, which was expected after all the positive reviews we've read. “If it is so full, it must be delightful!”, we said. Oh dear, we were completely wrong. After the waiting, the only table that was available for us was a wobbly table outside right in the sidewalk (it was very windy that day btw), and although there was an available table inside, they didn't give it to us, because it was booked, they said (well, we did book as well, didn’t we?). There wasn't any printed menu available for customers. So, they brought us two ruined blackboards that were hanged inside (one for the food, one for the drinks) and suggested us to take a picture of them (wow, that must be really a gourmet restaurant). To start with, we ordered 'smoked praws', which weren't cooked, peeled, or cleaned. The taste was so bland I was thinking that I was eating the prawns directly from the grocery. When we poured the tap water they provided us, the water seemed not clear (unsure if it was the water, the bottle, or the glasses provided). After that, we decided not to risk with the ‘mains’ and we just asked for the bill. They also had the audacity to include in the bill the service charge; not sure if it was more because of the "take a picture of the menu", the water/glass that wasn't clean, or the terrible table. At the end, we felt scammed, angry, and hungry, and we ended up eating elsewhere. What an awful experience, definitely not recommended. Save your money and time.

Had lunch here today with a friend, was one of the loveliest meals I have had in a long time. Scallops were cooked to perfection Andy main of Turbot out of this world, accompanied by some very nice wine and a shared chocolate cake for dessert , I left feeling like I had had a treat. Definitely worth the visit.

Had one of the most superb meals ever in this little restaurant served by a team who clearly all care about what they do. Oysters n fish all beautifully n delicately flavoured. Even the cabbage had us in raptures! Desert to die for. Local Westwell wine was a fabulous find too. Thx team.

Celebrated delayed lockdown birthday lunch with 4 friends. Delicious Scallop starters, beautifully cooked with almonds. Tasty bread. A range of Mussels,Cod,Monkfish and Bream for mains. All beautifully cooked and served. Great to see Chefs in the kitchen, calmly working and deserving every credit on the reviews. Well done Angela's in this difficult period for you, coping with social distancing, hygiene and a quick turnover. Recommended to all.

We booked in advance for dinner on a sunny but windy day evening in Margate. The fish is so fresh, perfectly cooked and delicious. The lovely waiting staff explained the dishes and recommended the wine. The desserts , especially the plum sorbet were amazing. A really relaxing and chilled restaurant with sustainability at its heart. We loved the tables made from recycled plastic. Booking is recommended as we saw quite a few people turned away. Looking forward to going back and visiting it’s sister restaurant Dory’s too.

We arrived without booking; luckily they reserve the outside tables for walk-ins on the day. It was a warm and blue skied autumnal day and you get good views of the harbour area. Our orders were taken, with good explanations of the varied menu. They specialise in fish, and most comes from Hastings and they set store by choosing fishermen with high ethical standards. My wife had rock oysters and I had turbot bisque. Both dishes tasted wonderful.

So happy I was able to book a table. All the food was delicious, but would have preferred more flavour from the kohlrabi and perhaps a little apple to help bring out the flavours of the dish. But the lobster in garlic butter was beautiful especially with the added tomato sauce, really delicious. The flourless chocolate cake went well with the damson jam and creme fraiche, the apple juice full of flavour and the seaweed tea ended the meal beautifully. Made up for waiting outside in the rain really good meal, grateful I made the the effort

Had a wonderful evening last night. The staff were friendly and it was lovely getting to know our fellow diners in a small dining room. Yes the wine was expensive. But the food was AMAZING. I find I can get nervous eating out as a bonafide coeliac but then staff were very thorough and reassuring about making sure my food was absolutely gluten free. I ate the best fish soup ever and then the monkfish in smoked paprika sauce with sides of potatoes and greens. Felt totally stuffed and thoroughly enjoyed my evening.

I’m not one for writing reviews but feel compelled having had a lovely dinner at Angela’s tonight. Went with my best friend. Nice touch to have some small bottles of anti bac hand spray on each table. Whitstable Rock Oysters to kick things off. The squid starter was lovely & the mussels were really fresh too. For mains we both had lobster... it was my first time of having lobster & it was amazing! Useful to have some sourdough bread on the side. Staff friendly & knowledgeable. It would have been nice to be able to reserve a table to sit outside but can not guarantee the weather when booking in advance, so understandable this space is used for walk ins (weather dependent). Yes it is slightly more expensive than some restaurants however you can’t beat the quality & well worth it as a treat.

We visited today on a day trip to Margate. Our meal at Angela's was the highlight of our day out and we had some lovely experiences. The food is exiquisite and the service impeccable -so friendly, knowledgeable, timley and patient. We had the lobster with garlic, hazelnut butter - absolutely scrumptious. The Mackerrel we swapped in beetroot instead of the aoli (avoiding the egg), coriander- incredible, delightful amusement to the palette and aubergine, lentil and pine nuts - beautifully hearty, earthy taste just delicious (and my husband does not typically eat aubergine!). I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. You must visit - you will not be disappointed!

The perfect restaurant IMO - small but perfectly formed, felt really special but unpretentious and relaxed. Tastefully decorated, staff are very friendly, menu is fresh and ever-changing. Absolutely the place to go for brilliantly cooked and presented fish and seafood in Margate. Considered options for veggies too. Would 100% recommend and 'must' if you can get a reservation!

My wife and I had an excellent meal here for our anniversary. Locally sourced ingredients and a choice of Kentish wines was a welcome sight on the menu. I'm not usually a fish eater but took a chance
