The decor is quite simple, and I found the prices to be too high for Margate, with mains around £30 and starters between £10-£15. That said, the food was excellent, and the service was outstanding.

Really lovely experience in Margate. Menu seems to be changing daily which indicates that the ingredients could be sourced locally. The soup of the day had a very rich Smokey flavor and the cod with the leeks was fantastic. Good selection of wines Prices are reasonable - the one thing that I wasn’t a fan of was that I was asked what kind of side i’d like with my fish which, the way it was communicated, made it seem like it was complimentary and compulsory to choose but it was an add-on

Nice fish and seafood restaurant in Margate. The food was delicious and the service really attentive. You can feel the fish is fresh and the water always happy to answer any question. It tends to be busy so it is advisable to book in advance.

We visited this restaurant expecting great things based on its high ratings, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype. While the food was fresh and decent, it was nothing extraordinary. One of the issues was the pricing - paying £35 for a main with potatoes and bread feels excessive, especially given the portion size. My fish was barely 150 grams. To make matters worse, my partner found a hair in her food. Though the dish was replaced, it was still included in the final bill. Additionally, we noticed an unexpected £2 “discretionary donation” added without informing us. The ambiance didn’t help either - uncomfortable chairs, a chipped plastic table, and a dirty toilet room. Sadly, we left feeling underwhelmed.

Had a delicious dinner here of fish and seasonal vegetables. They seem to cook everything in a kind of charcoal oven which adds so much flavour. Who knew chargrilled baby leeks could be so delicious?! It's small, so may be difficult to get a table peak season or weekend but we were there on a windy Tuesday in early May and they accommodated us. Waiting staff were friendly and professional. Highly recommend.

Spectacular meal from start to finish. Began with a rich, sumptuous mushrooms on toast featuring an impressive range of fungi. Then a bass with tomato and smoked cheeks (smoked monkfish cheeks intended to replicate bacon flavour profiles and...wow, it sure delivered.). Finished with plum and mulberry crumble perfectly offset with a creamy custard/creme anglais. Other dishes on the table: scallops (delicate flavours, cooked to perfection), muscles (exquisitely creamy garlic and cider sauce) and flourless chocolate cake with sour cream and an almost fruity caramel, just the right combination of sweet and sour. With drinks the bill came to about £125, extremely good value for money considering it's one of the best meals we've had anywhere in the world. This is our second visit to Angela's. The food is consistently fantastic, it's a cosy place with little to distract you from what you're eating, and the people working there are passionate, just the right amount of friendly, and perfectly knowledgeable about the dishes. This restaurant is high up on my happy places list.

We absolutely loved our lunch and we were well looked after by the incredible team and owners, who accomodated our ever changing requests on a very busy afternoon in sunny Margate. The food was exceptional, we were able to sit out in the square with our menagerie of dogs and friends. The staff were very attentive and looked after us so well, we would definately go back and try some of the other delicious items on the menu. Overall a fantastic experience and one that you should try if you are visiting Margate, you can't get any more central to the Margate vibe, the restaurant is lovely inside with a small courtyard and clean and tidy loos. Highly recommended. Next time we'd love to try the sister restauaurant Dory's which is also close by. Margate has a great food scene and is well worth a visit.

I had my lunch outside, which was any of the other places on the square, a long table without nice views. The place looked nicer inside, so I might try that if the weather doesn't call for eating outside. The food was delicious. My turbot was a bit charred to my taste, but not too much to ruin the dish. The service was great, even if i could have ordered another glass of wine if the waiter had not changed in between my courses. While the prices are upscale, I would have expected a few more than three potatoes for five pounds on my side dish.

A tiny restaurant that delivers consistently fantastic food packed with flavour. It’s the kind of food where every single mouthful is delicious and perfectly balanced. This was our second visit and the food was even better. The wine list features local English wines which work well with the food. I have now come to Angela’s twice in the last two years , and it’s truly a gem of margate ! The staff are attentive, kind and efficient . The food is incredible : my highlights were the butter poached oysters, the smoked prawns , and the fish mains. The gooseberry posset dessert was also fantastic. They offer innovative and exciting sea food which, that saves the face of the international view of British food. In addition, they source local and seasonal high quality ingredients and have a social enterprise arm which supports training young people with disadvantaged backgrounds. Fabulous meal here last night, thanks to the hard-working chefs and George, our ‘hostess’. Margate mushrooms on sourdough, grilled mackerel salad, sea bass/broccoli/bisque, skate with veggie ‘chorizo’ - all hot, tasty and(reasonably) healthy, washed down with a ‘light’ (13%!) garnacha. And the ‘optional’ service charge was only 10%, not the advertised 12.5%. Our third visit to Angela’s, and our best experience yet. Thanks, George 😉

Started us off with two glasses of frizzante and were suprised with a couple smoked trout and celery canapés (on account of my girlfriend being gluten free) ! Hosts were lovely. Had the smoked prawns and aoili which were fantastic and tasted like hotdogs in the best way possible. Also had the mackerel with confectionery like beetroot, and grilled squid with salsa verde which had a nostalgic quality of a summer family bbq in the south of france The skate and chorizo was gorgeous and perfectly cooked. Healthy portion with the cabbage shared between us. White negroni giving the joys of hypothetically drinking lemon floor gel and the zaks sparkling tea was delicious, recommend for anyone avoiding alcohol. Great place !!!!

Great meal at this small Michelin-listed restaurant - the monkfish in particular was very good, and very well cooked in the coal-fired oven. Well done! The dessert was good but not great in my view. Friendly staff. Having to go outdoors to go to the restroom is a bit surprising for such a restaurant - if it rains, you’d get wet… should be addressed. Note the restaurant opts you in (to put it mildly) a £1/person donation - I’m not a fan of the practice and typically decline. Overall, a great experience and I’d be happy to go back.

This is a small and cozy seafood restaurant. We went with friends and I loved the way you could see the kitchen. It's relaxed and has a very chilled atmosphere. The food is beautifully prepared and presented, our starters were crab on toast and scallops with red peppers both were out of this world. Our mains were skate in a beautiful sauce with clams and monkfish cheeks and lemon sole. The food was faultless and I cannot recommend this place enough. We had all three puddings which were flourless chocolate sponge with poached pear, orange sponge with blood orange creme fresh. The rhubarb on toast was another level good. If you want a personal touch with off the scale food then don't pass this by the staff are lovely and welcoming and the food is perfection.

Visited the restaurant for the first time with my family. Have to say, the staff are super polite but was shocked with the price at the end. It came 120 pounds for three of us, two adults and one child. I mean the food is very nicely decorated, very tasty but the portions so small for the price. The space is small and people coming in with dogs. Its a very small space. I mean its cute but still the price OMG. We havent even had a dessert and my child had a children portion. We had 3 drinks, 3 meals, 3 sides and 1 starter. Somewere else we can all eat and drink with dessert for half price. I mean well done guys for the reputation but I had to add my comment. I dont think I can afford this next time and its not even a spaceous or luxurious. I could rather grab a fish and chips for 5 ponds behind a corner rather If I would know it will come that much. We poped in thinking they would have affordable prices. Thanks for kindnes and good luck.

Exceptional ingredients and cooking, with chefs who truly understand how to prepare the freshest produce and bring out its unique flavours and characteristics. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. The decor is tasteful, and despite its compact size, the ambiance is outstanding, offering views of Margate's beautiful beachside right from your table. However, I encountered a couple of displeasures during my visit. Firstly, the semi-open kitchen design, coupled with poor ventilation, filled the dining area with cooking odours whenever certain dishes were being prepared. If opting for a semi-open kitchen, more consideration should be given to an effective smoke extraction system. Additionally, a mandatory £1 "donation" per person and a 12.5% service charge were added to our bill without prior consultation. While I'm willing to tip for good service, I believe tipping should be at the customer's discretion, not automatically assumed - especially in a bistro, not a Michelin-starred fine dining establishment. Regarding the donation, I understand the high unemployment rates in Margate and the efforts charities are making to assist newcomers to the culinary field. However, whether to donate should be based on the customer's support for the campaign, not the establishment's. A [direct addition] of a donation to the bill is uncomfortable and kind of rude; it would be preferable to inquire if customers wish to contribute, rather than assuming. I reluctantly leave a one-star rating, hoping the restaurant team realizes that minor details shouldn't mar the excellent food, superb cooking, and front-of-house team's efforts.

An absolute must visit. Turbot is exquisite and never thought peppercorn sauce is such a great combination to turbot. They’ve turned down the base with mushroom base so it’s not as heavy to complement the turbot. Every dish is very deliberate and well thought out. The desert rhubarb crumble is a must also and wish I had two of these! Don’t be put off by the tables at the back do the restaurant. I prefer them. More cosy and less traffic.

We came based on the recommendation in the Michelin guide and the great reviews. Overall we had a nice dinner experience (good seafood is hard to find despite the many seaside towns in Kent). Especially the mains were amazing (turbot/lemon sole), nicely seasoned and cooked, generous portions. The other courses did not reach this level. The poached oysters were lost under a large amount of hollandaise sauce so that you couldn't taste the main ingredient anymore. The mussels were nice, though you have to order bread as a side if you want to enjoy this starter, which is 50% broth, to its fullest. The dessert, flourless chocolate cake came with a caramel sauce and a dollop of cream cheese, didn't taste of much and was overpriced for that it was (10£). Wines start at 32£ a bottle. We spent £150 for 2 oysters, 1 starter, 2 mains, 1 dessert, 1 bottle of wine. The atmosphere (at least in the front room) was lively, partly due to the open kitchen design. Only drawback, when something got burned in the kitchen they had to open the front window, reducing the temperature in the room from 'just warm enough' to 'better put on a jacket'. Service was ok, friendly. Would recommend it for a light lunch, for a full dinner it wasn't worth the money.

We booked this restaurant for our wedding anniversary meal, swayed by a lot the positive reviews here. I don't know if that set my expectations too high but we left slightly disappointed. The location is excellent and staff were friendly and welcoming. However, the young girl who served us, whilst friendly and attentive was unable to answer basic questions about the dishes such as "Is that served with vegetables or do we need to order sides"? The answer was "I don't really know. I think the chef throws some vegetables in it, so you might be alright". This doesn't fill the diner with confidence when ordering. The food was fine, though I expected a classic coq au vin and mine had some spice in through chillies which I wasn't expecting. It was well cooked and presented. Overall, we enjoyed the food, but felt it was expensive
