Not being able to choose what you want to eat is just absolutely crazy and it was not good food to make it worth the risk. No amendments to anything allowed, even asking for a spicy curry as part of the whole tables sharer was denied for 14 people. Asked for a menu to order extra sides was told it wasn’t part of the sharer menu so couldn’t. I really feel for the server as she was doing everything she could to facilitate it but had to say “let me go and ask the chef” to something as simple as asking for a naan. Even after this parts of the set menu we were meant to get didn’t turn up and we had to tell them it was missing. Forced charity donation and forced 10% tip on your bill at the end of this and to top it off wouldn’t even tell us what was remaining on the bill after half the party had paid so we had to pay over, when I asked the sever how much total we had paid she just said “that’s perfect” so unknown how much we actually tipped them by the end of it. Servers were fantastic. Food, menu and chef absolutely terrible

Nothing short of a waste of time unfortunately. If you arrive in a party greater than 10, be wary that you are only allowed to order either off the set menu or sharing menu, if you dare diverge outside of this then it has to go get approved, mental. Even asking for a couple extra roti’s had to get checked. You aren’t allowed to order off the main menu. Now, none of this would really have been an issue if the food was great, it wasn’t. I got the set menu, ordered the Gunpowder Chicken, Office Curry Roulette (yes, roulette, you don’t get to choose your curries bar choosing if you want a meat and veg or just veg), and the brownie dessert. The gunpowder chicken was OK. The curries were bad and tasteless. The roti’s were part undercooked, small and just all around not nice The dessert was amazing, which seems counterintuitive as we went to an Indian restaurant and the brownie dessert was the best thing we had. The waiter forgot that those with the set menu had a glass of Prosecco, we had to remind them about this to actually get this. All of it was just not ideal, absolutely not the worth the money we paid, £35 each for set menu. Never coming back, what an utter shame.

We had heard good things about this restaurant from friends and also reading some previous reviews on social media. The staff are very welcoming and also have good knowledge of the items on the menu so can advise you if you have any questions. The food was lovely, we tried a good selection off the menu as it was our first visit and I can honestly say nothing was mediocre. Everything was so full of flavour and didn't disappoint. I would definitely visit here again and recommend it to anyone. All in all it was a fantastic dining experience.

I visited Mowgli Nottingham having been to the Leicester and Liverpool franchises before and had an enjoyable experience. Mowgli Nottingham was extremely disappointing and unfortunately I would not want to go back out of my own choice. If I was attending with a group of friends or colleagues okay enough, but would not go out of my way to suggest or go again. Let's start with the drink, great menu and options with lovely cocktails and mocktails to choose from but not prepared or with ingredients to the standard of Leicester or Liverpool so arrived and so was disappointed. Also ordered a masala chai, thinking in an 'authentic' Indian restaurant I would be served chai, again the price point would suggest this. What arrived was a herbal tea bag in luke warm water and a little bottle of milk on the side. When the waitress returned I let her know this was not what I expected rather than ask if I would like something else or offer to change my drink she simply said yes no that's not what they do here. Whilst the menu is the same as the other restaurant locations, the food and drink at Nottingham was memorable for all the wrong reasons. The quality of the ingredients was terrible given the price point, I would have expected fresh ingredients prepared in house, served hot. This was far from the experience I had. Curries were bland, watery, frozen and microwaved would be my guess. Curries: house chicken - probably the most flavourful or what we ordered but not enjoyable, not served hot, and quality of chicken was extremely cheap and again not as expected, paneer was undercooked and lazy, no flavour or texture. Prawn curry was like a can of tomatoes blended with four to six frozen prawns added with a little seasoning, flavour of heinz tomato and basil soup. Had significantly better food from takeaways, which is shame given the price, location, and atmosphere. That being said while the food was terrible, the atmosphere is lovely and the manager was extremely amicable and took time to listen to why I did not have an enjoyable time.

I visited Mowgli today with a friend and found the environment, aura and vibe of the restaurant to be extremely pleasant. We were taken care of by Jodie and her team who were so helpful, polite and attentive. It’s a deceptively large restaurant so taking care of so many covers can’t be easy however they took great care of us. The food was nice however as a self proclaimed connoisseur of Desi food (Indian), I expected a lot more. This is a quirky restaurant with a great vibe and a great team. Keep up the fantastic work.

We had planned on going over the street to Bar Iberico. However, after poor service and the ambient music playing too loud for any of us to hear each other, I suggested coming here. Best decision ever! On arrival, I mentioned we were here for a birthday meal, and the service, food and swing chair booth was just the best! The food was delicious and we’ll certainly be returning! After a poor start to the evening, this has been a really lovely evening in a fabulous restaurant! The staff have been so friendly and helpful making great recommendations and the surprise chocolate brownie for the birthday person, led to the rest of us ordering one as it looked so good! Couldn’t recommend more! Great people, great food, great place!

My friend and I shared the Indian School Tiffin and a Ruby Wrap. I ordered a Gulab Jamun for dessert, but wasn't told that this wasn't available until we asked why we were still waiting for it. Tables are very close together and diners and staff have to squeeze between them. We were offered the larger swing seats, but my friend declined as she gets motion sickness easily. Perhaps some coat hooks or stands would help to save some space as bulky coats on the backs of chairs doesn't help with the minimal space.

A group of us went yesterday evening. It was my first visit. In terms of positives – very attractive decor in the restaurant and a general nice vibe and feeling to being there. The food was enjoyed by all of us to varying degrees. Portions were generous also. Though, for me, I would prefer to eat Indian type dishes in a more traditional environment and way of presentation. The flavours were good enough, but they just lacked the intense and varied ones I have enjoyed in other restaurants offering this style of food in Nottingham over the years. I don’t know if the kitchen staff at Mowgli Street Food Nottingham preparing the food are of Asian heritage, but front of house, I didn’t see any, and decor wise (however pleasantly done) there was no connection for me that I was in a place that sets out to serve south Asian type cuisine. Call me old-fashioned, but a visual style relevant to the geographical origins of the food is what I prefer. The real disappointment, initially at least, was the very poor service we received after being seated. Greetings were fine but then we were left basically to our own devices for a considerable amount of time (possibly 15 to 20 minutes). Nobody came over to offer us a drink or to check if we were ready to order. It was left to a member of our party to go and find a member of staff to take our order. I find that incredibly disappointing in a place that appears at least to be offering attentive service, but in our case wasn’t. A further positive for the restaurant was the price of the meal which I thought was very reasonable when you take into account two bottles of wine were included in a total of around £160 for four people. On leaving, I didn’t notice any staff thanking us, or saying goodbye, and we walked past several, both where we had been seated upstairs, and then on our way out of the restaurant downstairs. Another negative touch that probably gives some connection to the very long wait we had to be served finally. It is both a nice and expected touch to have somebody front of house working to connect with you on leaving, and thank you for your time and your custom. And that didn’t happen here in my hearing at least. Would I recommend Mowgli Street Food Nottingham to others? Depending on what you are looking for, yes, on balance? But I wouldn’t do so to people of a similar mindset to myself, who are expecting the kind of intense flavours of cooking that you are used to encountering in a good south Asian restaurant. The food was just too generic for my liking, and I doubt I would return – particularly bearing in mind the disappointing level of service we also encountered there. Thanks for the reply, but I don’t think there is anything to investigate other than poor service from some of the staff we encountered. If it was worth considering a return, yes, possibly, but on balance, best left with the original review. Thanks.

The food was amazing! Great selection of menus and lots of food to choose from. I will say that even though when I booked it was already advertised that we were to give the table back after 1.5hrs, we were slightly rushed out. The issue was is that we were not even offered the bill or if we wanted anything else it was just that they needed the table back. As at this point we were ready to leave and would've asked for the bill but instead we were just told we should be going. I think there could definitely be a over way to go about this!

our second visit and were hoping it would be as good as last time - we were one of the first in and the restaurant was cold - we ordered a selection of food and were given metal plates that had been stacked up at the side - so cold plates in a cold restaurant. Last time we were brought the smaller dishes first and then the curry dishes but this time it all came out together so was cold in a matter of minutes. The manager said they could only work with what they had but i'm sure the owner of the restaurant chain wouldn't accept food on a stone cold plate. My husband also had to report an issue with the mens toilets which couldn't have been properly checked as they has only been open an hour. I don't want to say what the issue was as it's fairly grim :( .. food was tasty, the smaller sticky chicken and ginger chicken dishes were dry though. We won't be going back.

Cosy restaurant with nice atmosphere. Food was good but expensive for the portion sizes - the curries come in tiny bowls so by the time you order several it ends up expensive. Have had better Indian food from other restaurants which are much less expensive, but I’d say a lot of the traction about this place comes from its aesthetic with the lights everywhere (which is nice). If you’re ordering a cocktail, the margarita was very good! 🌶️🍸

On visiting family, I went with their recommendation of somewhere to eat with a lot of decent vegan options - with a few branches around the country, this Mowgli is in the heart of the funky part of Nottingham (apparently!) and close to some outstandingly unusual and interesting places. If you've not been here before, you'll get a quick summary of how it works. The dishes are often smaller in size than the average "main dish" because the idea is to sample lots of different but complementary flavours. That's ideal for me, as I love to order a thali or similar whenever it's on the menu. They also have a dedicated menu that consolidates all of the vegan options, so you don't have to scan through to find out what you can eat, which I found very helpful! The cocktails and mocktails were delightful and I highly recommend the cinnamon cola if you're avoiding the alcohol. Mind you, the others also looked tempting so I'll be working my way through them when I return here, which I hope will be often! The food itself? Well it's every bit as amazing as it sounds on the menu. I really couldn't decide between the dishes on offer so luckily they had a Tiffin Roulette, 4 dishes chosen by the chef to balance each other, similar to how an Ayurvedic platter might work. I knew I definitely wanted the tamarind treacle fries (totally worth it!) and the Keema Karma (also very good!) so ordered them as well, thankfully getting another Keema as part of the Tiffin so we could both have more each! Every dish is packed with a wonderful combination of flavours that leave you wanting more, and it's the little touches like the thinly sliced ginger on the chickpeas that really elevate this food beyond the mundane selections of your average Indian restaurant. Both of us are vegan so I can't tell you what the meat dishes are like but if they're anything like the vegan ones, you won't be disappointed. Prices are reasonable for this calibre of food - we ordered a bit too much because I really didn't want to miss out on any of it but even when stuffed to the point of almost needing a nap, it only came to around £30 per head (which includes a drink each). There's a 10% service charge but the experience was so good, I left a bit more. They also add on a charity donation so you'll be supporting a good cause while satisfying your taste buds. If you're a bit miserly, you could always ask them to not charge you the donation but if you're that kind of person, you've probably misunderstood the entire ethos and vibe of Mowgli, so maybe eat somewhere with less of a wholesome attitude? I love supporting places that recognise that companies and people can be a force for good even in the most unlikely of places, so I'll be adding even more of that donation - after all, why not feed your soul along with your body? The venue itself is tastefully lit (I'm not a fan of big bright lights so this felt warm and interesting) with casual dining tables on two floors, and an intriguing set of suspended chairs around one table, something I'm apprehensive about but still eager to try next time as it looks quite fun. Everywhere was clean and tidy, including the toilets which are up two flights of stairs (if you've come up from the ground floor and can't immediately find them, keep going up!). The staff are super friendly and will recommend dishes by telling you which ones they can't stop eating for themselves, which felt a lot more genuine than many places whose only concern is to upsell the dish of the day. I'd imagine you could grab a quick bite to eat here but bear in mind that the dishes might come out as and when they're ready and not necessarily all together, which I feel is part of the experience of well-executed "street food" that keeps on giving. However, my advice is to slow down, kick back, and relax into the dining experience. Order some roti bread to dip and scoop the wet dishes, and dive into some more of those fries! You won't be disappointed!

We were happy to sit and chat but the delay got worse and worse. We asked 3 times when our food would be arriving as others around us were getting theirs! We felt fobbed off the first 2 times and on the 3rd it became apparent they had lost our order!! We would have much preferred to have been told this at the outset. Mistakes happen but it’s how you manage them that key! Food was good although we were ravenous when it finally arrived! They did take 50% off the food order but again claimed it was due to things outside of their control. Just a sorry we messed up would have been better! We won’t return after this experience which is a shame but there are better Indian restaurants in Nottingham with much better service

I have been to this restaurant several times in the past few years. Every time without fail it has been top quality food, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Would not hesitate to recommend Mowgli to anyone looking for a nice meal out!

Service charge added and no choice about it, 2 people, plus a charity donation added on top of that! Wasn’t asked about service charge was just assumed I was happy to pay it

Mowgli is such an easy restaurant to overlook as it's tucked away towards the end of Hockley, but comes hugely recommended if you enjoy Indian food and are looking for a fun, social dining experience. Instead of ordering a single main dish, you order multiple small dishes which make up a whole (kind of like tapas). The recommended amount is two menu items plus a side carb (i.e. a rice or bread), which has always been more than enough for me. I've eaten here several times now, ordered something different every time, and absolutely loved everything I've ordered. Special mention to the incredible Mowgli mocktails, which are some of my favourite in Notts! Would recommend booking ahead of time if you want to visit on the weekend, as the restaurant is quite small so spaces go fast.

The food was fabulous. Great variety in general and good long list of gluten free options. Everything we had was excellent and the took great care with the gluten free food. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff.

Stopped off at Mowgli's on the way to see Becky Hill at the Arena. So glad we did. Great food and service. Also, got to sit on a swing seat - what more could you wish for?

First time here for lunch. Great service, quality flavoursome food and excellent value for money. Highly recommend the treacle tamarind fries, butter chicken and house chicken curry!

Mowgli is really nice, atmosphere is lovely and the staff are all friendly. The food is delicious, if slightly small on portion sizes. I feel that makes it potentially not great value for money but I'm sticking with a 5* because it's a lovely place to eat.

Lovely place and tasty food. Catered really well for gluten-free with separate menu. Good flavours and choice. Portions look small but are actually the right amounts for an evening meal. Worth a visit.

Went here last night, service absolutely terrible, had a waitress roll her eyes at us when indecisive on food as menu is confusing as there is no clear direction in this restaurant, curry house? Tapas? We then proceeded to be ignored by said waitress and had to call a member of staff over to take our order as we were waiting for 20 minutes. Received an icy reception to only wanting to drink water. The waitress that brought our food was slamming around and seemed like she couldn’t wait to be away from the table. Only good part was they brought the bill quick so we didn’t have to be in there any longer.

Mowgli experience was something to remember, food was amazing and seemed almost, experimental. The chat bombs were my favourite of the bunch but the mains received were also above average to say the least. The bunny chow was especially outstanding. Although not something I would have usually ordered, it met my expectations to a T. Suzanna I believe was the name of the lovely lady who served us with a smile, came here for my cousins birthday and we were made to feel very special. She was very attentive and seemed very professional - give this girl a promotion. Overall - will be returning to mowgli for all our special occasions.

Food is amazing, I can recommend the bunny chow. Food is at a fair price Staff are friendly however they could be slightly more attentive, noticing empty drinks etc however everything else was great. Bottled beer but a great selection of cocktails Lovely atmosphere and the swings are a fun unique addition Will definitely return

Situated on a busy lively corner of hockey, Mowgli offers some great viewing spots of the busy nightlife of Nottingham, with a beautiful ambiance, low intimate lighting, and a hum of chitter chatter, it really does give a street food essence. Service was quick, efficient, our server Suzanna was extremely attentive, she overheard our evening plans and politely asked if we needed any local recommendations after dinner. Unsure of what to try on the menu, she recommended a sharing platter, which suited the evening and our needs perfectly and some drinks to accompany. Well presented, professional but with a great balance of familiarity and friendliness, she made our experience a delight.

We had a fantastic lunch here and opted for the street food sharer at £25pp. This is 6 dishes of meat and vegetarian plus roti bread and rice including a salted caramel ice cream for dessert. I am vegetarian and my friend wasn't but that was no problem, as the staff ensured that we received our cuisine of choice. The food quality was delicious and amazing. Compared to other restaurants, the cuisine was about using curry flavours with different herbs and spices, e.g. tamarind, funugreek and ginger plus much more. We received a warm welcome and found the serving staff friendly, attentive and helpful, giving advice on the vast menu if you'd not been before. All in all, we had a fantastic time and will definitely return.

Went here for valentines and the atmosphere was ok, however, despite there being alot of staff hanging around, it took nearly 45 minutes to get a starter and this was only because they came over to see if we wanted another drink. The food was servicable but the lamb was very overcooked and not tender and chicken was a little dry. They had set meals and for 2 it came to £85 + tip (which they automatically applied and did not deserve). Took about 2 hours to have a starter and main and it wasn't overly busy. Would not recommend and will not be going again

3rd time I’ve been to this restaurant and not disappointed it’s been around along time that speaks for itself. Good night out 👍

I went to this place for the first time overall it was a good experience if I say about environment and service. But expected from the food specially with the dishes that I have tasted before there was a big difference in the taste. And comparing the price of the deal that we got, was slightly higher. Almost everything was on the basic standard. Not matching the actual taste very closely.
