Mowgli Street food in Nottingham

Fabulous meal for a friends birthday at Mowgli’s street food, Nottingham today. As always, the food was delicious, but what makes this special, was how attentive the staff were. Everyone who served us was super helpful, welcoming, chatty, cheerful, happy to explain the process of ordering to our friends (who hadn’t been before), etc. Their knowledge of their product was just superb! They had take home boxes for us - we always order too much - we dont want to miss out on anything 😂 - and finally a fantastic dessert arrived for the birthday girl from the team! We’d never tried dessert there, as too full, but we all had a nibble, and will definitely try and leave room for the chocolate brownie next time! Special shout out to Tom, one of our waiters who was just so lovely - he’s training ready for Lincoln so we’ll definitely head over there too! Whenever we visit this chain, it never feels like one somehow. It feels more personal. Even the music was fab!! 5 stars for the food and especially for the staff in this lovely restaurant. Highly recommend to all - in whichever town you are. You will NOT be disappointed👍🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Caitlin J was amazing, she was so lovely and welcoming and really knew what she was talking about! My boyfriend is coeliac and pescatarian and he had options which is always good, however it would’ve been great if the fish curries had a gf option. The Monkey wrap was genuinely one of the most amazing things I have ever eaten, such generous amounts of chicken and the wrap with the savoury sauces and then the sweet pomegranate was beautiful! We will be coming back again! Thankyou!

Been here many times, but this time the service was shoddy. Food still tasty but very slow, 50 mins for Chaat Bombs, starter left goong cold on the bar, abrupt member of staff who didn’t care. Glasses and bottles being dropped around us, very poor.

Some of the tastiest and most flavourful food I’ve ever eaten, served in an authentic and unpretentious way. There should be no fear of navigating the menu as everything is described in an enticing and wholesome way, as we found out with our choices. Recommend 2/3 dishes per person was just right for us. As you can see we ate it all. Staff friendly and helpful.

We had lunch at this place. Awesome ambience, service is pretty fast. Food is good, a typical home cooked style, nothing fancy & that's the best part. Portions I would say are weird though.

Love this place Chat bombs amazing. Only complaint is toilets are up 2 flights of very steep stairs. But food amazing just have a wee before you go 🤣

We visited on the 10th March for a family meal. Yes, the restaurant was a little compact but the food and the service more than made up for that. The food was refreshingly different to what you would find in other restaurants, the staff were very friendly and happy to tell us the stories behind the food. We all said that we would be very happy to go there again.

This review is for Indians looking for authentic Indian food. Wouldn’t recommend the place for most of Indians as food is on sweeter end of the spectrum. Spices were also undercooked.

The food was very disappointing, no taste at all, ordered butter chicken, lamb curry, lamb chomps, potato chips, monkey chicken wrap. There was no flavour in the curries very watery, the portion size of dishes is a kid portion size so if your going with your family it’s not worth it, it works out pretty expensive for the portion sizes, also my daughter had an upset stomach the next day, the meal didn’t seem fresh. The service was good and the atmosphere was also good shame about the food, I wouldn’t recommend eating from here.

A strange experience for us food was very good but found it strange that starter and main were served at the same time! We would not make a special trip to eat here.

You could easily rack up a bill at this place, the orders are cheap, but every thing sounds so good you end up ordering half the menu. I'm not a vegetarian, but if I ever wanted to be, this is the place to go, amazing choices.

Absolutely incredible food. Came here for my birthday a month ago. There's a great selection of food for vegans like myself which I was really happy about. The staff were super friendly and inviting and helped us decide how much to order. It's nice as there are lots of small dishes to share so you get a good variety, for a decent price too! Love the atmosphere and cosy interior. Nice and quiet on a week day. Perfect! ☺️

It was my first visit yesterday and I'm ready to go again! Fantastic food, really enjoyed it, even uncannily played a load of my favourite artists in the background. I know this will become a regular place for us.

Just as you would expect from the Mowgli chain it was lovely food and very nice decor. Please book though as it is very busy and with very little space. We went a little early for our booking, 10 mins, and were turned away as there is nowhere for drinks or any room for manoeuvre between tables. They must really pack them in each service. Very enjoyable once we were at our table. Lots of small plates which is great to just graze and order as you go along depending on your appetite.

Good place for food or a nice dessert. Very pretty interior design and friendly staff. Perfect place for a cute date.

Visited Mowgli after booking online.We was visiting the Arena for a show so knew it was best to book. Great food enjoyed and service was friendly. Restaurant was buzzing. Can see them needing bigger premises!

Visited here on a Tuesday night, thank goodness we had booked as it was so busy! A warm welcome and the staff were great, explained how much food to order and suggested what to try. The food was delicious, we shared 2 starters and a main each with rice and bread, which was plenty for us. No room for dessert. Great food, friendly staff and a buzzy place, we will be back.

First time at Mowglis and they went over and beyond expectations. Such fun food and was so impressed that there was a full vegan menu available with delicious food. Setting is beautiful with all the fairy lights and swings!

Found this place by the smell of food 😆. Brilliant bright n decorated like a Xmas fairy lights. Offering delicious Indian street food. Active n helpful staff. Even i didn’t book a table but she still managed a table. Food was hot n tasty. Situated in height street so not hard to find it. Btw I really liked it. Thanks to the smiley lady who served us 😊

Fantastic food and service, some of the best Indian food we have ever eaten. Very nice atmosphere. There were three of us and we had the veggie tiffin plus two other veggie curries and three puri’s, which were the best we’ve had. The price was also excellent value. Nisha Katona should be congratulated on her chain, and the staff at Nottingham were amazingly attentive and friendly. We would definitely visit again.

This place seems to be very popular, very vibrant. Staff was just great. We loved it there. Food was really nice except naan bread. Worst Naan we've ever had.

Lovely experience for my birthday with my two children! Staff were really friendly and helpful. The environment is beautiful. Food was really delicious! My children absolutely loved the experience. Just one note: please check your bill, I very nearly paid £102 when it was £58. The table next to us had had their items added onto my bill by mistake.

Great food, nice setting and good service, really worth a visit.

The food is very disappointing. Restaurant is style over substance. I’m not sure what qualifies it as ‘street food’ either! (Bhel puri certainly doesn’t taste like it’s meant to)

What's not to like the atmosphere with the quirky swings, the food was excellent and staff were really lovely. The only thing and it's a small thing it was a little pricey but will return at some point.

Had a thoroughly enjoyable meal here recently. We already had a reasonable understanding of the menu and portion sizes but the waitress helpfully reinforced our understanding. The temple Dahl was great as the fish curry which was really tasty. This was accompanied by a greens dish and lamb curry. All dishes were really tasty and delivered promptly. We accompanied the meal with a very palatable Pinot Grigio. Thanks for a lovely evening.

This place is great. The food is smaller than you'd expect as it's small plates but it's exceptionally flavourful and really rich (in the good way!) You'll not need more than 3-4 plates each! Top tip: order the chat bombs!

I've been wanting to try Mowgli for a long time, and finally got the chance as a Christmas treat. We were not disappointed, every bite was sensational 😋 its not the cheapest, but you certainly get what you pay for. I had The Monkey Wrap and the Goan fish curry, and I think I'll be dreaming of those tantalising flavours for a long time to come! Beautiful food, location, and fabulous service.

Always incredible from cleanliness and decor, to food and service!

A well appointed restaurant (with swings for seats at some tables) and lots of fairy lights. Staff are attentive and helpful. Food is really good lots of exciting flavours. Think of this as an Indian themed tapas so go for two to three dishes each plus some rice and breads great to share and try different dishes. A small but nice range of beers plus cocktails too. I will certainly be going back for more. The lucky dip meals are good value.

First time in the Nottingham venue. Wonderful staff and generous portions of food. Can totally recommend the mango lassi too.

This is by far one of the worst restaurants I’ve been to. The staff was incredibly rude ,brought us the bill without even asking for it and took ages for them to take our order even though the restaurant was almost completely empty. When the server brought us the wine they did not even open it for us .Also they charged 31 pounds for one of the most horrible wines I have ever tasted. When I googled the wine it showed that its actual price is 9 pounds.

Exceptional even for Nottingham 😊 I expect a good meal whenever I dine in Nottingham, the city buzzes with cheffing talent, yet Mowgli excelled even my high expectations to deliver a perfect dinning experience. First impressions were made as we wandered passed whilst shopping and decided to venture inside where we found the staff to be friendly, polite and helpful which, coupled with the beautiful decor and lights makes for an inviting experience, then there was the food, wow! Even the rice was packed with flavour and the nicest I have had anywhere and the fenugreek potato’s were stunning. I’d highly recommend Mowgli street food 😊

There were four of us who pre booked on a Saturday night in the centre of Nottingham a very busy part, we parked at an NCP car park nearby. We sat on their swing like seats, which I found to get gradually uncomfortable and very painful after a while, making it a bad experience for me however, the service was great and the staff were friendly, so I guess it made up for it. The food wasn't bad. It came out in little tiffin containers stacked up together with the other parts of your order, and it stays hot for a while longer than others. The choices of dishes were vast, including vegetarian choices. However, I would probably recommend choosing a dish at a time rather than multiple dishes, as you could have lots of food wasted and a huge bill to pay the end, much to our surprise, we paid £180 for the four of us. They do, however, recommend a dish out of each category as it all comes out together and can make it a little overwhelming like me. I do, however, recommend this restaurant. Enjoy!

The only reason I have not put 5 stars is because I’ve had a mixed experience when it comes to the service. The vibe is great and the food is delicious. The first time I went there, I didn’t have a great experience with the staff. One of the waitress almost threw the dish in the table, and got annoyed when we asked to repeat what that dish was. However, the second time I went there, it was a totally different experience with super friendly and helpful staff. The waitress (a different one) even advised regarding a dish on the menu. So if you are looking for great and almost authentic Indian food here in Nottingham, check the place out! The atmosphere there is also very pleasant and warming.

Really glad we went. The food and service were great. The welcome was warm and considering we arrived half an hour early, this was not a problem. All the food chosen was done really well, full of flavour and thef8nal bill was reasonable for lunch. I suspect we will come back the next time we are in town.

Came Friday evening and was served by Caitlin who was friendly and efficient. She gave some great recommendations. We ended up doing the sharing menu which was a great way to try all the tasty food!

Well all abaut staff.... We never been there before. No one explained us anything, no one asked,, do you want water,, basic question in each restaurant. The Waiters, young girl - if you don't want to work, or don't like it, or don't care you shouldn't work in restaurants. There was more staff just hanging around with not Happy faces. Whole place with lot of charm and food wasn't so bad however the people /staff create the atmosphere. Definitely will not go back there

First time visit chose 2 dishes per person and 2 sides which was enough The goan fish curry was outstanding and the lamb chop and tumeric chips delicious All the dishes were lovely and tasty and spicy so interesting , so different loved it !!

I can't fault Mowgli! I'm not the biggest fan of spice, but really enjoyed everything I had here. We visited as a group for a work get together, and paired up and shared a few dishes each. The Agra ginger chicken curry, Mowgli sticky chicken and fenugreek kissed fries were absolutely beautiful! Also really enjoyed my Sweet Delhi Heights cocktail, which was so fruity and refreshing. Our waitress was super lovely and attentive too. Would definitely recommend!

Came in with my sister last week and had the nicest food! The butter chicken was to die for and the service was brilliant. Marnie was incredible- so very kind and smiley :) Will deffo come back!

I came in with family last week. My sister had the butter chicken and I had the sticky chicken and both were incredible. We were also served by Marney who was really friendly and helpful and gave great recommendations- she made our experience that much better x will deffo come back!

What a place! You have to experience Mowgli’s! The restaurant is across two floors and the decor is great, the staff were knowledgeable and pleasant but these were not the stars of the show! The food was amazing! We had a total of five dishes including a beautiful bread. The yogurt chat bombs were insane, the flavours just burst in your mouth! And if you decided to have fries with your dish you have to try the fenugreek kisses fries, they somehow have a sweet spice that’s like nothing we have had before. If you haven’t visited Mowgli’s it is a must!

Second time in a Mowgli restaurant the food is delicious! Our waiter was great at giving advice & service was amazing.

We nad a great time here! The swings are really fun and everything we ordered was delicious. They have a whole vegan menu which is really great. Also the staff was absolutely lovely. The portions are quite small though so if you're hungry I'd recommend ordering like 2-3 dishes per person.

Absolutely fabulous.. Hadn't booked but sorted a table for us straight away, atmosphere and decor was just devine and the swing seats brilliant.. Not been before but our waitress explained portion size and recommendations and when food arrived the presentation was lovely and food was gorgeous.. My dad even took a doggy bag home. Lovely to see the cocktails being made and didn't have to wait long for anything. Thankful the restaurant we booked was awful as we would not have found this fabulous establishment. We will come again. Thank you ☺

Food wasn't bad however the whay how it was delivered wasn't great. We received chicken first, no rise or bred to it which we orderd as well,it came after 15 minutes. True chicken was tasty. The rest of the food was nice as well. Will we come back? No. reason? Staff. When we walked in we were welcomed by nice gentlemen,who took us to our table. The young blond Waitress well, there was no question regarding water, nothing mentioned how the food is served, no advises given, just stood there, took our order and on the end asked with surprised face that's it? We have been I many places and service is half of the success. You may hve good food but if you feel you are not welcome you will not come back. We went for desert to different restaurant and the difference in service was huge!

Very tasty stuff. Tamarind fries are a particular favourite. Pricy, but you get quality, and it’s a nice place to be.

After paying the bill they claimed money was missing which we then payed, later realizing it was the optional service charge. We were never told the service charge was optional, since the waitress came back claiming it. The service was horrible.

I popped in for Dinner last week and the food was incredible. The Paneer in particular was unreal. The staff topped off the evening though with a special mention to Will behind the bar. Clearly knew his stuff and thanks to him, I don’t think I can go anywhere else for a Gin and Tonic ever again. Delicious!

Whole experience was fantastic, hadn’t booked and it was busy and the helpful front of house advised a table would be about half hour so we popped for a drink and returned. The team that work there are so good, knowledgeable and really efficient, they were so friendly and gave advice on what to order. All the dishes we had chosen were amazing and so tasty but I have to highlight the sticky chicken which is to die for, flavour explosion and just so good. I like that a £1 charity contribution is added to the bill, which is voluntary and the team made that really clear, a service charge is also added which I was more than happy to pay as the staff that work there are brilliant. We were in Nottingham on business for a couple of nights and the experience was so good we returned the next night, and yes I did have the sticky chicken again. Will definitely return next time I am in town.

Great food, great service and the swing chairs are different!! You can opt to not sit on the swings 😉 I had the Ruby wrap and the angry bird dishes and the flavors were amazing. The service was friendly and quick and the table water was always topped up. They didn't rush you and the atmosphere was very chilled. Will definitely be back. I also had a cappuccino and the bill came to £27.50

Delara was such an angel and amazing the whole meal!! Couldn’t recommend this place more, the food was also amazing. Shay was also such a sweetheart and I commend them both for amazing service <3

Good place for food. Tapas menu so small portions

This was our first visit and it was a combination of delight and disappointment. The ambiance and staff were first class, the ‘starters’ were some of the tastiest food we have eaten - amazing. Unfortunately the ‘mains’ were tiny and lacking in flavour, the beers were poor in cans and overpriced, I know it’s street food but please put a good draught on, those tins don’t match the food! Maybe the starters are so amazing they make the rest seem very bland. Had the quality continued the overall price would have been fair however with the poor drinks , service charge and donation it felt expensive. Would we come back? Yes but we would only order extra starters and leave the mains to avoid disappointment.

Don't be fooled by their portion sizes, these guys know what they are doing. Despite it may seem too few, food is incredibly tasty and filling. Best Indian restaurant I Nottingham, lovely atmosphere, perfect for a date night or a dinner with bros. Bit busy on weekends.

Cute venue, most of the staff were great just a couple that pulled faces at some of our questions. Food was lovely and plenty of it (even if the portions seem small) great for veggies, vegans and carnivores alike .

This food was amazing, great quality & quantity. if you want something tasty, clean & filling! Service entering wasn’t the best, no allergen/dietary question which made the non allergen menu confusing at first until asking for separate ones. A few great options on vegan & gluten free! We prefer to give a direct tip to the person doing our table service than to give it to the restaurant to split between staff - Adding a service charge automatically isn’t something found to be polite & personal suggestion would be to ask. Table service itself was nice, quick & friendly. Also thank you to the chefs for an amazing bit of food this afternoon! Definitely recommended.

We ate here and it was great, lets face it, Mowgli’s is always great. Pretend street food, chain recipes which are difficult to screw up, and just tasty food. The service wasn’t all that, though was a Saturday night around 6:30/7:00 which is expected. Location is great, plenty of parking, pubs, things to do, etc. No immediate parking, you’re looking at pretty much car parks, but within a five minute walk at most.

The food was amazing! I have been to many Indian restaurants but this was exceptional. The staff were so knowledgeable and our server Josh was polite and friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant and I am coming back soon

When the dishes came to our table, my friend and I were a bit disappointed at how small they seemed. However, don't be fooled! Everything we ate was amazing - such rich flavours that we ate more slowly to savour it all. We even managed a dessert each and commented that we didn't feel like we'd overeaten. I would absolutely recommend that you eat at Mowgli!

Treated like a bunch of juvenile alcoholics. I am a professional middle aged man in my late 40’’s with kids and a family going out with two of my ex work colleagues also of the same age and family men. We decided to meet up, have a couple of drinks, get a nice meal together and head off home back to the wife and kids by 10pm No roudy alcohol fuelled bar crawl around the city or nightclubbing adventures… we are way too old for that! After 2 pints we decided to go to Mowgli for some food. We ordered a bottle of beer each and told the waitress we would get a bottle of wine between us with the meal but would wait until the food came so the wine wouldn’t get warm. Sure no problem she said. We finished our beers, the food starting coming so we then ordered a bottle of wine to which unbelievably we were told we weren’t allowed one! The waitress said it had been decided we had had too much to drink already and therefore they were refusing to sell us anymore alcohol!!! We were utterly shocked. We weren’t drunk, we had had hardly anything prior and only one bottle of beer there! We hardly looked like alcoholic trouble makers! We thought it was a joke at first so asked to speak with a manager. They tried to rob us off by bringing another male waiter over who clearly wasn’t the manager and asked why and how this decision had been made. We were told the waitress had made the decision but given no explanation as to any reasoning behind it or details of what behaviours we had displayed that would possibly make someone think we were raging alcoholics and what had happened on the short time before serving us one bottle of beer that had made us look like we were stupendously mangled. It was an utter joke. We were very polite about it but wanted a rational and logical explanation as it really ruined our night and our meal. We were literally treated like criminals after this … no one came to check was our food ok, we weren’t even offered any soft drinks with our food and we had to ask if we were allowed to have some water. I wouldn’t mind but we weren’t even drunk! Shame on them as we very often organise corporate meals and take clients out there but we certainly wont be again. Ridiculous
