Great little place to work or grab a coffee. Always double espresso, comfortable seatings, and the staff is very nice. Lindsey (and Shaun) are making a difference! Definitely recommend the almond croissant.

This coffee and pastry shop is very welcoming and swift in service. Plus, the foods and drinks are just soo good. It honestly took me of my chair as I tried the delectable and yummy almond croissant and ice coffee. The staffs are very warm welcoming and affable. Especially, Lindsey(a staff member at the borough mouse coffee shop) who always shows her lively and cheerful side whilst attending to her customers. She is not only able to communicate with her customers well, but is also able to deliver a great job in serving us with the most amazing beverages and pastries. A promotion definitely needs to be considered regarding her role! It’s just amazing.

This small cafe serves good snacks and excellent coffee. They have a wide range of magazines for customers to read also.

Dashed in for a quick cup of coffee as Mousetail had been recommended by a friend. Quick friendly service and an excellent cup of coffee. It was quite busy in the sitting area so I had a take away. Personally I would recommend as the best cup of coffee in the area. Will definitely be returning!

I have nothing but good things to say about this coffee shop. It is located inside John Harvard library just across borough station, easy to find. The coffee and food are stunning, many variations and their brownies are to die for. One of the best brownies I’ve ever had in my life! It is also great to know that they are anti food waste, food surplus goes to people in need at the end of the day. Craig the manager is very lovely.

Excellent coffee, considerate and jolly service and a yummy perfectly sized menu all in a valuable library which is a A real community space. Meetings, children’ sing songs, laughter and work all combine, occasionally battle, and interact for a great work or jolly chat or baby play meeting!

I enjoyed the best toasted ham & cheese croissant with a large soya milk Latte. Spent a highly productive 1.5hrs in the John Harvard Library reading about Modern Art and Cezanne's 'Bathers' as part of my Arts and Humanities studies as an Open University Student. Really cool atmosphere and great service at the Mouse Tail Coffee Stories.

Really like this little coffee place in the library. Coffee is nice and so is food and the environment. The rocky road is the best I've ever had. Recommend.

Not a coffee drinker but I'm told that the coffee is excellent. When I pop in for the occasional tea, it's always been (albeit that it's not difficult to serve tea!). A bit too hipster for me to make it a regular haunt. It's often rather too full of super trendies pretending they're working so getting a seat can be difficult.

Nice place to relax, chill and get on with your work. Coffee is ok...staff can be less grumpy though (maybe a smile with a 'hello')

Down Borough High Street, away from the market, the front of the library has been niftily converted into a cozy coffee shop. Heavy wooden bench seats match the sturdy tables and encourage table-sharing. Good choice of coffees and non-dairy milks. I recoomend the Banana Bread.

absolutely love this place really really good coffee beats the Starbuck next door! Very high quality sofas carved heavy Oak dense wood raised bar tops to work on and tables great vibe friendly service and right next to the library inside! Brilliant. The only problem is the air conditioning is terrible it's very humid to work inside all times of the year.

By far my favourite cappuccino in London, but need to drink it immediately when just made! They also have delicious quiches for lunch and a short brunch menu (avo on toast and banana bread) which i have yet to try The cafe is in the John Harvard Library, so nice place to come alone and read the newspaper or some books

Excellent espresso blend which I have been enjoying for years, along with filter and V60 coffee options, teas and juices and tasty food and cakes. It's a great coffee shop with attached library rather than the other way around

Great coffee, haven’t tried the food but spent a couple of hours here just reading. It is very informational and is attached to the library- so if you want peace and quiet, you aren’t likely to get it. There are kids running around, joining parents who are having a coffee with other parents. All tables are communal and they do have good WiFi. Staff are friendly and accommodating.

Great coffee and amazing staff. My regular go-to for my caffeine fix - I couldn't recommend this place enough! It's got a lovely charm to it with it's communal seating and it being located within a library means you're surrounded by books. The food is also pretty great with vegan and vegetarian options available. The cakes and cookies are the bomb, too!

Not quite sure I agree with the other reviews on the quality of coffee. Had an americano there twice but both times got disappointed, a bit like flavoured hot water. Otherwise nice place though

Sin embargo, el ventilador visible en la parte superior izquierda de la esquina estaba lleno de suciedad y piel hasta el punto de que algunos fue sobresale por encima de la parte superior de la barra. No estamos hablando de un poco de lío o desorden - este es un serio problema de higiene. El miembro del personal sólo se encogió de hombros cuando me indicó, pero el cliente detrás de mí pena salías - que había pagado.

The best coffee I've had in London to date. Genuine single origin beans on offer or blends. Their selection is explained well so you know what you're drinking and they also make it in batch brews if you want a more affordable cup. Quiet too cause it's in a library which is nice. And I saw a robot drive past 😐🤖

Food looked great. Couldn't order any of it because the idea of mouse tails in the salad, mouse tails in the sandwiches, mouse tails out of the corner of my eye was too, too revolting. Mouse tail is a barista Thing but perhaps it should have stayed the other side of the counter. On a level with calling somewhere The Smelly Nappy Cafe.

Best coffee around Borough! Lovely place for coffee or lunch.

Good selection of vegan, vegetarian and meat filled sandwiches. 1 choice of each per day. In addition they have quiche or a choice of 2 different salads per day as well. Set in a library it's ideal for a quiet bite to eat or for a take away lunch. Haven't tried yet but their cakes and brownies also look really nice.

There's a great selection of places to eat and drink in Borough High Street but the Mouse Tail has become a favourite because they have a nice selection of healthy foods at a reasonable price. In particular I can recommend their salads which are different every day and always tasty and interesting. Coupled with the coffee shop being located inside the library, it's a good lunch time hang out with plenty to read. The banana bread is also fantastic and the coffee's nice too.

This coffee shop is inside a library. You'd think they'd have worked out that most people don't to to the library to have pumped at them non-stop. But no. Staff here consistently play loud music that ruins the peace of the library. Today it was rap music. So no chance of spending a gentle Sunday afternoon reading the paper, unless you like that gentle Sunday afternoon to be accompanied by a throbbing bass line and rap music lyrics. On the positive side, about ⅓ of the branch's staff are *not* rude.

My go-to option if I don't bring lunch to work: they serve toasted sandwiches, quiche, and salad. Their side and varied selections include daily vegetarian and vegan options. I wish I could give recommendations, but since I love everything and have never had a bad meal, sadly I can't. The food's always delicious, and the staff are always friendly! Do get here early as they can run out. Thought about putting out a cookbook, guys?

A little café in the library that makes the perfect alternative to costa and all of that. Very nice coffee, £2 for 2 espresso shots regardless of how they're taken (latté, americano, etc). Food is slightly expensive, starbucks prices, but there are a number of glorious creations especially amongst their inventive sandwiches. Many vegetarian options available and I'd recommend their brunch. Perfect place to work or read, not so good for noisy conversation as it is in the library.

This is a public library with a coffee shop at the front in the window onto the street - not what one would expect. The coffee is strong but good, and there are unusual things on the short menu to eat. It has a buzz about it and is informal and busy and the staff attentive and personable - worth checking this place out

I've just had the best avocado toast and toasted banana bread in my entire life! Love the fact that it's inside the library so you can read books while enjoying a great breakfast or coffee! Can't believe I've been walking by this place so many times but never came in! Definitely my favourite come back to place now!

So happy to find that Mouse Tail have opened a branch inside the John Harvard Library as they do GREAT coffee. Have popped in a few times recently to grab a take away flat white and every time it has been perfect - haven't tried their sandwiches yet,but they look very tasty indeed. They have created an individual relaxed space within the library so that it doesn't look like an afterthought to the main function of the building. Oh, and the staff are super friendly too.
