Moti Raj in Harrogate

A friend and I had a lovely time here. The staff were extremely helpful and they couldn't do enough for us. We ordered 4 starters, chapatis, poppadoms and pickle tray instead of main meals and these were so deliciously tasty .😋

UPDATE FROM REVIEW BELOW. I’m delighted to say that after speaking to Motiraj management they have redeemed themselves with a wonderful free replacement meal. I hope this is the new standard and I look forward to more like this. Congratulations on your award! Aweful meal. I live locally to the Motiraj and have enjoyed 2 takeaways prior to this week. I have to say this time it was completely tasteless no spice and reheated duck floating around in a sweet sauce. The only good item was the naan bread. Never again. Next time I’ll buy Indian meal from Morrisons which are better .

Mediocre is the best word it's not a waste of money but it's not a good way to spend your money. Everything was edible and acceptable but nothing shun out in taste texture or spice.

Without doubt one of the best meals we have had in a long long time, the friendly service and very reasonably priced top quality food makes moti raj an absolute must visit for any lover of fine food

What an absolute amazing curry take out we had . This is as authentic as it gets.This little gem in Ripon is as good as any Bradford / Leeds top curry restaurants. It is really that good. I’ve eaten in Pakistan and India and it certainly is on par with its authenticity and fabulous taste.

Now Im not a curry man, beautiful meal tho.

Cracking little restaurant. Food is varied and is of good quality. Waiters are friendly and helpful with suggestion and they will adjust heat 🌶 🌶️🌶️ to your tastes. The night we went in it was quiet... Deserves to be busier. We've had takeaway from there before and it's always been spot on too.

Absolutely shocking ordered 2 chicken tikka masalas and the chicken was burnt but they decided to hide it in the masala sauce, absolutely disgusting

The food was brilliant here. Full of taste and plenty. I do love a good curry when ever i'm away from home. Service was cool, place clean and tidy.

First time trying. It was quite grim. The chicken was tough and inedible, perfectly formed cubes. Just really cheap ingredients for a ridiculously expensive price, totally overpriced. Will not be ordering again.

Was in Ripon for 2 nights 25th & 26th June2021, me and my partner Dawn went to Moti Raj on Saturday 26th. The meal was very very good, the starters Onion Bhagi was one of the best we have had and the Chicken Chatt was great, our main meals King Prawn Buna and Chicken Rogan Josh was excellent also the Nan was done as we asked. Can’t understand how people say food was below average, everyone to their own. The staff made you very welcome and they were very friendly and polite. When we go back to Ripon, we would definitely go back to the Moti Raj, anybody who likes Indian food as we do, would not be disappointed with the food or staff, we would definitely recommend the Moti Raj to people who are looking for good food at a very reasonable price.

Good service but food well below average. It's been a long time since we've had such poor food. Staff insisted the locals like their curry flavourless so they wouldn't be changing it!!

Food was quite average...used to be quite good...No Drinks licence but Byo..£4 for 2 small cokes from out of a bottle under the counter was a little steep ..How Much!

Butter chicken sour and consistency of baby food No license so had to go to local off license for a couple of drinks which we werent told about when booking the table. Butter chicken was quite simply rank! and i left it and complained but didnt get a response. Not everyone wants mega spicy meals and it shouldnt be on the menu if you dont want to serve it. We were on holiday so dont live locally so no risk of returning anyway

Not my cup of tea, staff was friendly but food was horrible, first order steak (not even ask how cook steak I want to) steak was so hard couldn't cut it with very sweet sauce, they bring it chicken instead which was not even better, chicken was chewy and I could tell was defrosing, small portion as well for that price, get curry but pay seperatly for little portion of rice, very dissapoitment never come back, for this price you can find in Ripon so much better restaurant.

Great restaurant, no alcohol licence but our waiter directed us to a shop just over the road where we bought some Cobra & Kingfisher... Menu not overloaded with veggie dishes so I ordered two veggie side orders, rice & nan - food was really tasty. Will definitely eat here again.

Been going to this restaurant for the last fifteen years at least. Always had the same staff and great service and food. It's now a 'take your own' beer place. Do a great range of curries and always fit you in when busy!

Had a lovely meal. The mixed starter was lovely, probably the best onion bhaji I've had in a while. All the food was tasty and couldn't fault the prices. Only gripe is the tables are jammed in a bit and could do with spacing out a bit. Will definitely be back again.

The food was watery. The plain man was covered in a disgusting inedible substance that ruined the whole taste and I couldn't even scrape it off and make do it was so foul and polluting the flavour. There was also a problem with one member of staff (white English) who seemed to be fishing for an arguement and he was very racist toward his colleagues which was highly offensive and made me feel very uncomfortable. Luckily the target of this man's vile "humour" as he put it did not rise to the bait and was extremely professional and courteous throughout my short visit. I will never go back. What a disappointment.

We visited on a Saturday. They were very busy but coping well. The food was all lovely and piping hot. Staff all pleasant and helpful. Alcohol is bring your own and they loaned us a quality corkscrew when we found we had forgotten to bring one. Water was also supplied on request. Heartily recommended.

Just had a takeaway from here. Not used them in a long time and wont be again. It was appalling. Watery, oily, tasteless rubbish.
