Mother India - Dining In in Glasgow City

Feel disappointed as was alway a big supporter of The Den! However as we had not been in a while was really looking forward to returning! Sadly didn’t think veg pakora was as good as in the past!, however the Butter chicken was unrecognisable from the past! I feel it’s a signature dish and bore no resemblance to previous orders! The colour, lack of nuts and four chunks of chicken was nothing like in previous times. The dish was tasty but disappointing. Hubby was disappointed that The Simple lamb curry or scallop not on menu any longer! Unfortunately I did not take photos as think they would have confirmed my observations!

We went for a family lunch with relatives visiting from London. Six adults, three chose the lunch menu and three chose the a la carte. Service was disjointed with starters, main meals and rice and accompanying nan breads arriving at different times. The lunch food was particularly poor. I had the chicken starter and it was as dry and hard as a stick. I also had the sea bass which was also Dry and definitely overcooked. The only thing everyone agreed was good about the meals was the nan bread and the rice.

We love to sit in in their takeaway restaurant, the Den. There is a good choice of curry dishes and they are all wonderful ! The sauces are not too heavy and the nan breads are lovely and thin. The poppadoms and spiced onions are so delicious. There are only a few tables in this part of Mother India but we love the atmosphere and Jamie, the Manager, has known us and our friends for a long long time and always looks after so well ! The service from Sandra was first class as well.

Deliciously authentic Indian food, relaxing atmosphere, excellent service provided by Joseph. Fabulous eating experience.

Had not eaten here for a while although been to other Mother India restaurants and bought carry outs and meal for two deal. Had the smoked lamb and it did not disappoint! Only thing missing was the yoghurt with red onion that was previously served with this dish! Pakora usual good standard and my husband raved about his simple lamb curry! It’s not on menu but so good to get it. Love the Den and all other Mother India restaurants ❤️

Booked for a family afternoon meal. We sat in the basement area which is smaller than the upstairs dining area. Spent a leisurely afternoon eating and drinking. The basement due to its size is a little more noisy than the upstairs. I must remember to book the upstairs next visit. The food itself is out of this world. I shared a mushroom and chickpea on sourdough toast wih my wife whilst the others shared a smoked haddock based starter. They enjoyed it very much. I had the chicken tikka with basmathi rice and i did like the plain nan bread which was quite tastey. One had a channa Daal and another the sea bass with chickpeas. Last had the buttered chicken. No complaints about the food all washed down with a pint of kingfisher. Service was quick and efficient and staff were pleasant. It was nice to return to this resturant. Being in the city centre parking is very difficult andyou would have to arrive by bus or taxi. We all thughtit was good value for money and will be back.

The food was exceptionally tasty. One of the best Indian that I have had in a very long time. The food was served hot and we didn't wait too long, even though there was a large group of us. The service was allright and it was busy even. For a mid week day. Overall, a must go.

As a solo dinner I was allocated a table in the bar area next to the public toilets. Mediocre service provided, food was good flavourful and really enjoyable. Despite only 2 other tables and 3 staff members standing behind the bar area I was never asked if my meal was good or if I enjoyed it when paying on departure. Would I return possibly not.

Amazing pakora, curries and naan bread. Very fresh and tasty. Will definitely return again soon. Good prices.

Best Indian food in Glasgow. It is so authentic . One can see they use the best ingredients! Lamb dishes are just superb. Highlight of our dinner was the whole meal naan! Great food and fantastic service.

Simply Wow!! Right from you enter the cafe you are greeted with a warm smile by Kounik and his team. Ordered for papad with coriander dip and it was superb. Had peshawari roti, black dal and garlic chicken - believe me the taste is superb. Not a place to be missed in Glasgow. All the best guys

Such great authentic Indian food, fabulous veggie options and very generous portions. I had thali - wonderfully spiced veggies and dhal, with rice, chapati, coriander chutney and yoghurt dip. Sadly I couldn't finish it. Staff are abundant and just excellent. The place was buzzing. Great dining experience 👌

Last night my wife and I attended Mother India Dining in at the Den and we were not disappointed. table was ready for the allotted time and staff were very attentive. We both had Pakora to start, a mixture of Vegetable and Chicken which were very warm and tasty! For mains we both had Chicken Biryani, which again was warm and tasty. Drinks were reasonable too. We did not like what was on offer on the short Den menu however the waitress showed us the takeaway menu which had a lot more choices on it, so don't be put off by the main menu as there are plenty of options from the takeaway menu.

We went here after lots of recommendations to try. We booked in advance but didn’t tKe away ya being bundled in down stairs to wait in a crowd of people to wait on someone seeing to us. We were sat all was well ordered our food (the important part) starters came out staggered which is never ever ideals as you always get one person eating when the other isn’t. It was ok, wasn’t amazing and definitely not up there with other amazing Indian restaurants available in a more settler and quality service locations. Tried it was ok and wouldn’t go back.

A Glasgow institution now ticked off. Was absolutely superb. We started off with a selection of fish and vegetable pakora and the spicy haddock. A great opening served with a chilled Kingfisher.Mains were buttered chicken and the sea bass. I shared the leg of lamb with my brother in law and we barely made it through it. To be honest it should feed 3 or 4. My 3rd time here and it has always been top drawer.

My wife and son were heading home from a shopping trip in Glasgow and decided to bring some indian food home we’ll we were all amazed food was still warm we had vegetable pakora chicken pakora for starters delicious and. We had 3 mains and a nan bread shared by 4 the mains consisted of chicken Boona. Chicken tikka masala. And South Indian Garlic chilli chicken with rice. Food was amazing really tasty it’s a long way for a carry out But well worth it and we would definitely recommend this it’s 9 out of 10. Only because l preferred eating in restaurant keep up the good work guys

I was visiting Glasgow and dined with friends at Mother India. i had the most delicious amazing food. I opted for the Garlic Chicken and the flavours that came from this dish was superb. I wished we had one of these restaurants locally

Despite the constant queue outside it is most definitely worth it! Fantastic curry every time, very quaint on the inside!

On balance, Mother India's - Dining In is just the best Indian restaurant in Glasgow with Mother India and Mother India Cafe following closely behind. It is a small restaurant with a limited number of tables set in a simply decorated dining area just next to the take-away counter. The staff are consistently welcoming and helpful. The table menu offers a limited choice of house dishes but the kitchen will happily prepare any traditional Indian dish that you wish. We love the starter of fish pakora and the chicken dosa as well as their chicken bhuna. Actually we have never had anything but an excellent meal at the Dining In.

just to add to the many 5 star reviews of Mother India, this is an excellent Indian restaurant. The food is quite amazing, not your normal menu, but surprisingly quite a small one, and cooked to perfection, with great flavours.

Arrived there without reservations on a Monday night. We were surprised to learn there was only one table left at 6:30 PM but we were able to take it provided we completed our meal within 90 minutes! Not a problem for us especially given the prompt service

We were staying at The Sandyford Lodge on Royal Crescent and spotted this restaurant last night. We popped in for tea time special and were very lucky to get a table. I'm not surprised! The quality of the food is superb and the hospitality is first class. All I can say is if you are in Glasgow this restaurant is a must so make sure you book!

Busy little spot on Saturday after the museum closes. A queue is always a good sign and it was with the wait. Great service, great food cooked from scratch and every mouthful delicious

Ansiaba comida india y, en consecuencia, un amigo de la familia me invitó a cenar a la Madre India. La comida era bastante sabrosa, porciones generosas y un poco más caras, pero definitivamente tiene una buena relación calidad-precio. El ambiente es elegante y algo relajante, perfecto para una cita elegante o una cena. Le recomendé este lugar a otro amigo, pero fueron al café de Mother India (que es un lugar diferente, no estoy seguro si los dueños son iguales) pero la comida en el café no era tan sabrosa, ¡así que ve al correcto! Bastante auténtica cocina del norte de la India, debe probar si tiene hambre y tiene ganas de gastar un poco más.

Excellent indien pour ceux qui aiment la vraie cuisine indienne et pas les plats sans saveur et sans épices qu'on sert en France aux français. C'est costaud ! Bref, quantités et qualité aux rendez-vous. Bon rapport qualité prix (mais attention de ne pas trop commander, c'est abondant !). Service courtois. Mieux vaut réserver.

Love the Mother India and find it hard to choose which is best but absolutely love the scallops in the Den! We had a lovely meal for my husbands birthday 🎁 and are always made welcome and Dodd is always brilliant!

Had a superb dinner here with friends. For me the subtlety of the spice flavours was something I’d never tasted before in any Indian restaurant. Each dish was a different, delicious experience - this restaurant is a must-visit if you’re in Glasgow.

We were taken here by local friends. What a great place. Every dish we had was perfectly prepared and delicious. Having eaten at Indian fine-dining restaurants in Washington, DC, I was not prepared for the much higher quality of the food at this restaurant. Both the quality and quantity was great. This is also a great value for what you get. It is a taxi/uber/lyft ride from downtown, but well worth it.

Went for a meal on the 19th as attending a conference in Glasgow. Unfortunately menu had changed so could not choose what I had previously seen on the website. Saying that, the member of staff who was looked after us ( think his name was Sajad, the chap with glasses) was brilliant and very professional. He catered for our individual wants etc and delivered what he promised which was truly delicious. Would highly recommend this restaurant

Situated opposite the Sandyford hotel we were looked after by seasoned staff who made sure our experience was a memorable one!! Perfection is an understatement!!

We have eaten in Mother India’s Cafe on many occasions but this was our first visit to Mother India’s Dine In which is just next door. Small, intimate place with seating for about 24. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent, nothing was too much trouble. If you want a real taste of India you should try Dine In but you have to book.

We have eaten Indian food in a lot of places across the UK and Southern Ireland and this is by far the best food ever!!

Most enjoyable tapas such a great choice of food, friendly staff and great situation across from Kelvingrove art gallery definitely recommend it

Los fines de semana, Mother India tiene una cola regular que serpentea a lo largo de Argyle Street. Con una reputación de auténtica cocina india, estuve encantada de tomar una mesa entre semana en la tarde para poder probarlo por mí misma. Al estilo de las tapas servidas, la recomendación es comenzar con dos o tres platos más el arroz naan o chapati habitual y tomarlo desde allí. Cebolla bhaji, ajo pakora de champiñones seguido de pollo Bhuna y cordero con especias del sur de la India (con jengibre). La comida y el servicio cumplían todos los requisitos. Muy recomendable.

Habíamos reservado, pero ni nos preguntaron por ello. Había una cola terrible, y tuve la sensación de estar colándome. Apenas nos sentamos, vinieron a ver qué queríamos, y no habíamos visto ni la carta. La comida estaba buena, pero no espectacular. Habíamos pedido platos picantes, y tuvimos que terminar sin bebida, porque pedimos tres veces, sin éxito.

My son and I ate at this resturant on monday lunchtime, The food was ok not the best I have eaten but Not bad. The samosas were nice and the right size, the onion bahgee were also very nice the lamb karahi was not lamb karahi as I know it just lamb in a curry sauce although still pleasent enough to eat without complaining and the chapatti was also very nice. I would still recommend you visit this place for indian food at lunchtime the service was very good and the atmosphere was also

Popped in here on 2nd January for lunch. Excellent value at 6.95 per head and not full of lots of hidden extras. Menu is small but good quality. Portions adequate for lunch. I had chasing husband had garlic chicken. Service was good. Waiter very pleasant and pompodomm with spiced onions was very reasonable. Not as fancy as Mother India but much more intimate and personal service. Would expect that evening portions would be larger

Absolutely terrible service. We had to ask several times for our order. Food was awful. Don’t eat the lamb dishes, fish dishes the butter chicken wasn’t edible. Never again

The old menu at the Den wasn’t broke! Can we have it back please? We’ve been ordering the same seafood dishes for over 10 years since the Den opened - with spiced mixed greens, diced cauliflower and potato, dill and ginger etc.

Lovely fresh authentic Indian food,the cheese and chilli nan was so fresh and tasted amazing! The garlic prawns were so tasty!!

About 9 years ago we decided, as we were in Glasgow (stay in Paisley) to try Mother India - Dining In for a takeaway. We’ve now been making the journey about once a month for that 9 years !! The service, choice, portion size & price are all part of what makes this, without question, the finest Indian my wife & I (and most of Glasgow I’ll bet) have ever had. South Indian Garlic Chilli Chicken, Lamb Karahi, King Prawn Karahi, Chasni, you name it, we’ve never had a bad dish from MI-DI. We’ve just finished our meal & are both raving about it (again). How this place isn’t No1 is beyond me. Keep up the good work MI-DI.

We went for dinner with friends...the restaurant is quite small, but a great atmosphere. The menu is stripped back but with something to suit everyone...that's great so you don't default to your usual curry order. I had the smoked lamb mince with karela (what's that)...it was fabulous. Good service too and coupled with an inexpensive menu I'd recommend a visit.

What a great culinary experience!! Indian spicy food with an attentive, polite and efficient service. We just ordered the special lamb for two, a huge portion of lamb shank cooked to perfection with multiple Indian spices and vegetables, served with nan bread and jasmine rice. Nothing else. It was more than enough for two and we highly recommend. A Glasgow institution that deserves a visit!!

We had snacks of poppadums with spiced onions, mango chutney and lime pickle followed by chicken, fish and vegetable pakora. Everything is super fresh and tasty. The poppadoms were crisp, the spiced onions sweet and crunchy, the mango chutney sweet and aromatic, the lime pickle punchy with added crunch of carrot. The pakora is the best. If I could, I would eat it every day. The fish pakora is the best of the best! Service is friendly and polite and prices are good too.

The reason this restaurant has been open for so many years is down to the good service, the lovely atmosphere, the friendly staff and most importantly the great selection of fresh, fabulously tasty food...... SIMPLES!
