Best place for fish chips and more

Ordered and charged for correctly. They then bought the order wrong and were very rude and blunt when we questioned this. The waiter then started shouting and swearing at us so asked for a refund. The waitress in question then walked out

Best chippie I’ve been to for many years . Fish was crispy and light and my wife ate all the chips before I could get to them. Lovely staff and very clean and bright seating area to eat in. Highly recommended. Deep fried mushrooms were really good…

The fish was cooked well as was the batter and both were decent. The chips, although cooked through, were anaemic, not crisp and average taste. The mushy peas were watery and lacked flavour. Service was good.

Once again got home to find no mushy peas or curry sauce which was paid for in the bag, wasn't going to travel all the way back to the shop as I live about 8 mile round trip away, happens too many times now

On our way back to Manchester landed at Mother Hub bard’s at 9:30pm, they let us sit in and eat even though their seating area was closed. Thanks to Shoaib, who allowed to take our time and eat. Great service and friendly staff.

Diabolical fish and chips overpriced and not cooked right.Chips were massive fish cooked in weird not traditional batter Asian style.

At Mother Hubbard’s I ordered Special Fish and Chips. They do have other variety of food like burgers, sausage and pies. They had a variety of drinks and slushes. It took them four to five minutes to serve me my order. It cost around 10.95£. The food was lovely, and delicious The portion size served was great. The fish was thick, huge, and hot. The batter of fish was crisp, and well coated around the fish but not overly battered. The fish meat was cooked to perfection with beautiful white colour. The fish type was Haddock. The chips portion was great and cooked well not too crunchy or burned. The Chips were slightly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The staff working there is courteous, warm, well-mannered and radiated positive energy. Their style made the service look so good. The ambience of this place is warm with warm lights and colours. The seats were comfortable and like the fast food eating place. Wall had pictures telling about the history of this town, with descriptions of the landmarks and the building constructed in the city during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. I’ll pay this place another visit, the food was tasty, and the service was awesome. The atmosphere was different in a great way. Excellent value for money.

Just been for dinner...food usually so nice up until today I would've said best chippy ever but today's chips and fish bites completely undercooked and dripping in oil. Took food back wasn't offered a refund or fresh food. Staff members didn't seem bothered.

We us this fish and chip shop quite often, the portions are of a nice size, and you get your money's worth. The staff are very polite and friendly. Plus you can eat in if you wish, seating and tables are available.

Nothing wrong with the food here we've just found somewhere that's exceptional.

Good, but not as good as it used to be.

Yuck, chips so greasy they melted in mouth, and tasted like old fat or other products had been fryed in oil. Shouldve taken back but had driven to moor.

Better cooked than the Blackpool shop chips lovely fish nice and moist batter lovely but if you reading this don’t even send out fish thats not fresh to me. Its not off but very close you could smell it when you opened the box. Yes we have eaten it as on second bottle of wine but if I hadn’t you would have had the order back

I ordered at 8:30pm and rung the restaurant at 9:30 and was told the order was ready but waiting for a driver to pick up. I waited up for this order until 11:45pm and the order never arrived. it kept saying driver lost signal then it was 12 minutes away then it was 15 minutes away and it carried on like that for hours. This was a £30 order that never arrived! I will never order from here again I would like a full refund!!

I love going to motherhibbard the fish and chips are always fresh and taste is out of this world in normal language lol whenever I get a chance I go for the whole family especially for the jumbo fish mwah

Fish was burnt half the chips had eyes in or green nothing like the Blackpool or Cleckheaton one

Asked for 3 fish, got home to only have 2 fish and chips and one single chips tray. Phoned to complain. They didn’t acknowledge that they had made a mistake. Worst service ever received, after being a loyal customer. You’ve just lost a loyal customer. Avoid at all costs!

Big enough portions to share and halal

My wife and I went there. We asked for fish and mushy peas with NO chips. We were told that chips were part of the dish. I told the lady not to put chips on my plate as they will not be eaten. The food arrived with chips. They were not eaten. The fish had about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of batter around it. I removed the batter only to find the worst fish I have ever tasted. We will not be going there again.

Always a warm welcome. Food is consistent throughout their branches. Good portions and decent prices. The gravy has taste for a chippy and isn't bland. Decent sized fish, even in the small portion.

Recently had steak and kidney pie , chips and peas here . When it landed on the table passed by a waitres moving faster than a bee's wing I thought it was a child's portion , the pie looked so sad and thin in the tray , thinking I should have done it the honour of bringing a letter opener to open the pie and everything was so tasteless , but on a positive note the chip butty is not that bad.

Everything tasted of cleaning products , we rang to let them know and there response was ohhhh shouldn't be , well they did!!!!!! Rude rude rude . Trying to make people ill!!!!! Which they did we had bad stomachs! Avoid , rude staff , no structure and for sure terrible food !

I think there have been staff changes and there has been a noticeable difference in the quality of food. The fish is now very hit and miss. sometimes the batter is far too thick and the quality of fish used seems to vary. When the older gentleman is frying the fish it normally turns out decent but there has been a lady working on the fryer and i think it is suffice to say she is learning. If i see her working i tend to avoid now. As I have had several bad experiences with her. Counter staff generally very friendly and welcoming

Being a very picky person when it comes to fish and chip I was reluctant to try these, but since I was really hungry and wanted fish and chips this was the only place that seemed to be open. To be honest I am really glad I did get them. The food was cooked to order so when I tried to eat it the first time it was burning my fingers so had to let them cool A little. There is nothing I hate more than fish cooked in old oil so was thrilled when the batter looked like it had been cooked in fresh oil. The fish had such a lovely flavour to it and the chips were not half bad either. All in all well worth the money. Keep up the good work.

Nice fish and chips and all but, not paying attention when handling your order and giving you the wrong one. Had 2 fiah and cheesy chips and they forgot to add a fish to one of them. Appalling service, forgetting the main thing you ordered......

£50 uber eats order all wrong. Rude bloke answered phone. Refused to accept his error. Food arrived cold, chips hard, fish wasn't fresh, special instructions now followed. Quite hit and miss, sometimes the fish isn't that great and other times it's good. I give 1 star as I went during lockdown last year and I'm exempt from wearing a mask but the fish fryer at the back (probably manager) told me I needed a letter from my GP which was totally false and not required by law (GPs don't give these letters by the way which I tried explaining as I even showed him my NHS exemption from my phone) as other supermarkets and shops have never said this to me upon showing the NHS exemption and he said he'd let me off this time (again, totally out of order, talking to me like I'm a child, I'm almost 30!). The worst part, he didn't even walk to the counter to talk to me like a civil being, he made it a scene and was raising his voice from the back which embarrassed me really as all the staff and customers watched in silence. I hadn't visited since this experience until after lockdown and all restrictions had been lifted recently as I just didn't want to go through arguing with him again over something quite simple, this horrible experience just put me off visiting completely. Oh and they don't do NHS discount unlike the Bradford Leeds Rd branch which do (10%).

Got some sunday lunch in for the family, the fish size portions are whopping to say the least. Onion rings were straight up fantastic and asked for some bits and ended up with a box full. Over the moon, will be back.

Absolutely awful chips tasted burnt and as though the fat needed changing both me any my OH left them and OH's also left his fish as that was the same awful taste my scampi was OK. 1&1/2 hours after still got the nasty taste called them several times to let them know but no answer complete waste of £22

What a rubbish place, 3 times I’ve been before 10 and they are closed. I went at 9.48 this evening and was told we closed at 9.45. Who cares, I can get food from a million other places, just a simple customer service tip, write the correct closure time on the web and on your signs. Won’t be coming back, the fish and chip shop across the road is much better, shake they close earlier (although at the advertised time)

Appalling. Paid 11.49 for cheesy chips and gravy. I got about 10 chips they were cold and hard, I even added extra gravy and there was none.

Great service. However I’ve given it a 4 start as the fish fell short by being over cooked. This has happened before so it’s a hit and Miss.
