Stretchgate Fisheries in Calderdale

OMG!! A group of us from Staffordshire and Leicestershire were looking for some great fish and chips and we stumbled upon Stretchgate Fisheries! What a gem ..staff were incredible and the food soooo lovely! All homemade and so tasty. Great price too which is a fab bonus. We were so impressed... definitely check this place out.

Everything I ring or just eat are being muppets I ring this place polite and friendly all the time not one complaint at all

The fish here are top quality, lovely batter and the staff are great. I come from Savile Park and its the only fish and chippie l would go to. I always ring them and ask for them to be well done for me and they are perfect.

Went here recently as we look for the best chippy in Halifax. While the location is not the best in the world, the food was good and very reasonable priced (£13.80 for fish & chips twice). The fish was very nice, a good sized piece and the batter was not heavy. The chips were decent and was a decent quantity. We really did like this.

The best in Calderdale by far friendly staff and the price prices not too be missed seriously it’s 10 stars xx

Hadn’t tried Stretchgate until a couple months ago despite working very loc for over a year. Never really was a fish and chip fan (I know, blasphemous) until recently. Stretchgate is the perfect little hole in the wall that’s easily missable but seldom forgotten. Reasonably priced and amazing food. Staff are always so welcoming and friendly and will have a laugh with you whilst you wait (never more than 10 minutes and in the later hours usually fresh from the fryer). Budget friendly with all-star taste. Have recommended this place to many family members/friends and all who have taken the advice have never been disappointed. 100% recommend.

Lovely chippy, been going for a few years and I recommend it to anyone looking for a good fish and chip shop. I think the loveliest worker there is Donna, she has been so kind to me every time I go there and I think she deserves a promotion or an award for her genuine hard work and dedication!

The food is always spot on, even near closing. Cluster service is Brill too

What a cracking chippy! I had a survey team in the area this week and just picked the chip shop with the highest rating, and was glad I did. My team were raving that these were the best fish and chips they'd ever had - and biggest fish too. Nice ladies running the place too

This fish shop is certainly not one that presses down their fish to make them look bigger oh no their fish are like steak and their fish cakes are very tasty if pepper is added prior to cooking try this fish shop out it is certainly the best one in the area !!!

Lovely traditional fish and chop shop with really friendly owners.We had family and friends staying from down South and America and had google the best fisheries around Halifax. They really enjoyed them I usually put on tarter sauce on mine as it doesn’t taste right without it and I’m very fussy along with my partner too. They did not need anything on as they was delicious. Will definitely be calling again for a treat and will be recommending you to all my family and friends.

The chips were brown ad the fish was soggy.I went to search it out because of the good reviews. Dot go there!

Forget about loyalty and bonus cards that you get at other fish and chips shops locally, stretchgates fish and chips are unequalled in my opinion. The lovely lady behind the counter is very pleasant and always as a smile on her face, which is more than can be said for the one that is supposedly calderdales number one 😉.

Work near here, a number of chippies in area, but this is the best. Good old fashioned chippy, nothing more than that, but the best around here.

After doing the supermarket run we decided we fancied fish and chips. Very tasty and you gets lots too.

I often make deliveries in the Halifax area so i always like pop over for my dinner. This is a traditional chip shop, like they all used to be like years ago. It's proprietor and staff are always very friendly and chatty, they offer a very good service in a spotlessly clean shop They also sell the best fish and chips for miles IMO

We get our dinner there from work every week, great fish and chips, just a traditional fish and chip shop. Not a vast menu, but excellent fish and chips, friendly staff and good value.

Always friendly service. The portions are ample and extremely well cooked. Very good value for money. Can't reccommend it highly enough!

If I go to my nieces we usually call here to pick up some lunch, called on Monday & as always the food was great piping hot, not overly thick batter on the fish but lovely & crispy. The staff are always pleasant. Pity there aren't more takeaways like this one
