Really friendly chippy and even though the queue was long the girl behind the counter was really fast and took orders down the line rather than wait for each order, like people used to do in the old days! The fish was a big portion and really tasty and the chips were freshly cooked - they gave me a nice cardboard box to eat it in and I sat in my car by the co-op and ate the whole lot. Someone in uppermill told me about this chippy and said it was the best so I drove home via mossley and glad I did I will definitely be back

This is a very good chippy. The staff are always friendly and the food is very good. The shop looks smart and is nice and clean. I’d give it 5 stars but a couple of things are a bit random. Firstly, the portion sizes. Some staff give you massive amounts and the others a lot less. It’s difficult to gauge what size of chips to order! The other thing is the prices. Why is it more expensive for a chip muffin than ordering a muffin and portion of chips separately? It doesn’t makes sense

After dropping my daughter off at Greenfield train station, I fancied some chips. Quick google search led me to here. Decided to walk the 2.3 miles and leave the car in Greenfield. Well worth the walk. Chip Butty (I’m from Yorkshire) was excellent. Added bonus they accept cards as I had no cash. Ate them sat on the wall outside and headed back to the car. I may have just burned off the calories! Great find!

I have coeliac disease which means I can't have gluten in my diet. I was diagnosed almost 30 years ago now. The one thing that I missed was a chippy battered fish. This chippy needs 5 gold stars. They do the best gluten free fish I have ever tasted. Its big, its crispy and its fresh and cooked while you wait. It is delicious. There is also a large gluten free menu that includes about 6 chippy favourites eg potato fritters. If you are gluten free you need to try The Chippy, Mossley you definitely won't be disappointed. 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

If you actually smell that food before they even opened knowing the fact they use the same oil over and over again no wonder the food tastes disgusting it smells even worse

This used to be a really good chippy. Went in at lunchtime today, it was, frankly, disgusting. You could taste old, overused oil on the fish and the chips. The fish was not cod, was not fresh and tasted so bad we ended up throwing them away. The peas tasted ridiculously sugary. Such a poor effort and very sad to see. I tried to call them to tell them but the phone number no longer connects. Totally yuk, will never visit again.

My go to for breakfast when I’m in Shaw. Lovely, friendly staff, good coffee and a great range of breakfast options. From a full English to great breakfast sandwiches at a good price. They also do locally made muffins and to die for cream cakes. Well worth a visit.

My husband and myself went for a birthday drink today, deliberately after 2pm in order to avoid the lunchtime dining rush. On arrival we were told that, if we weren't dining, we would have to sit at the 'high tables' in the middle of the room even though there were plenty of other tables available. I am 5'2" and have always struggled to get onto those ridiculously high stools so we decided to leave and go elsewhere, where we were welcomed and allowed to sit where we wished. Incidentally, it is my husband's 75th birthday and we are both pensioners. It was embarrassing and a shocking way to treat customers.

We went with our friends for tea fish, chips, mushy peas, tatar sauce and bread and butter plus a drink all for £20 a couple. An absolute bargain. Excellent food and good service. We highly recommend. We then stayed and had a few more drinks good pub atmosphere.
