But now we have it down to a "t" on what to have and this morning I thought .....I must have a lovely lunch ....and off we went ....the spicy chillie miso soup is THE BEST, the sashimi is always so fresh, the veggie tempura is out of the world ......we couldn't finish and all for a good price. We LOVE Moshimo!

The best and most delicious Japanese food in Brighton! Actually almost anywhere . Knocks socks off some well known chains . I highly recommend this restaurant

Very disappointing. Not been for a while. No flavour in the food. Most vegan/plant based, not the real Japanese experience.Just not what it used to be.I feel we won’t be back again. Need to find somewhere else.

We’re Moshimo members and normally have a great time, but this was easily the worst it’s ever been. Took 90 minutes for the food to arrive with minimal apology or warning from staff that it would take that long. Apparently we’re short in the kitchen so don’t blame the staff, but management need to sort their sh*t out sharpish.

Such a nice place to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Beautiful food and atmosphere, and kind and accomodating staff 😊

We had a lovely dinner here this week, the food was superb with lots of vegan options and the service was fantastic. We were welcomed with our two small dogs who were offered water straight away and had a big fuss made of them. The server was super helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and different dishes, as well as being really chatty and friendly. Our empty plates were taken away regularly, keeping the table open for the lots of small dishes that were arriving. Overall, we had such a nice time and would definitely come back for another special occasion!

Super friendly staff and lovely atmosphere! It was our first time coming here and Michele was a really friendly server who helped us understand how everything worked. Lovely service as your water is topped up often without asking. We were also sat by the conveyor belt which was amazing as we could do a mixture of menu ordering & picking from the belt! Their membership system also looks great (half price on Mon/Tue) and the membership counts for you and one other person! Definitely will be returning 😊 Edit: Actually so amazing we came the day after writing the original review (kept up my end of the deal 😉)! The variety on the conveyor belt is amazing, and super fresh tasting sushi. Best place for sushi in Brighton!

Wonderful food and service restaurant a bit cold could have done with heating

The Staff was really nice but the dessert made my mouth feel like the sahara. My sushi was wayyy too expensive for what i got and it somehow crunchy. I‘m never gonna eat here again

Food: not good. Good sushi is all about the rice. The rice here was overcooked, mushy, and flavourless. Too little fish and vegetables were put in each sushi. So all of the dishes we got besides the edamame and miso soup were disappointing. Price: way too high for what you’re getting. Service: not really worth mentioning one way or the other. Ambiance: pretty good. I guess this (and the good mission around sustainability) is why people go here. Reply to "Response from the owner" – No, the servers were very busy and we did not feel comfortable telling them how we felt about the food or the price, and were not asked.

Dog Friendly. Lovely Japanese food. Small dishes available to take off a conveyor belt. Plenty of Vegan, Vegetarian, meat & fish options.

First up - the food here is amazing. And the service likewise. But having turned up on the basis of the Moshimo 50% madness deal for members for January it was disappointing to save just £3.82 on £150+ bill. To be fair, it does say to check the terms and conditions on their website (which we clearly failed to do in sufficient detail). The conditions include dropping the 50% discount to 5% for a party of 5 (which seems a bit harsh given it’s 50% for two), and excluding all drinks, desserts, miso soup, soft shell crab etc. We will return at some point as the food is awesome, but the intricate nature of the 50% discount leaves a bit of a bad taste.

Three of us went to Moshimo for lunch. The service was great and the food was excellent. Will certainly be back.

I wasn’t a fan of this place which is shame as I’ve been wanting to go for years. The food is average and the cost is very expensive. The service was average as our food all arrived at different times. My friends had a very poor service as well and i am very upset to hear how they have been treated. Can say I won’t be returning. I also think the businesses replies to the lowest rating reviews are very unprofessional and is a testimony to their values. Edit- thanks for taking the time to leave me that response !! Me and my friends went at the same time they organised it and were treated terribly afterwards. I’ve been wanting to go for years (when I was a student) hence didn’t go due to budget. The food is average no point in bringing it to the attention of your staff. Apologies the whole bill was more than £100 not per person my error. Have a great day!

Could not fault the place. Felt like a more upmarket version of waggamammas with tons of sushi options. We all (fam of 4) ate loads of various dishes all really nice and the bill came to way less than we anticipated. If I lived in Brighton id be here all the time! Highly recommended.

Then we had an extortionate service charge added to the bill which we had to prove we would like removed, and then finally when we received a surprise additional charge to our bank account a few days later and we called to ask what this was for, we were shouted at down the phone by a rude employee stating that this was a "small family-business" and that its tough and we should just cough up £50. Great look Moshimo. Won't be coming back again.

Brighton institution that’s always reliable. Great veggie/vegan selection and the vegan sashimi is a marvel. How do they do it?? Large menu that’s great for dietary restrictions. Would go back.

Amazing staff, so friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and fresh. Great atmosphere, very clean and nicely presented.

Just no. The food was not very good. We had the teriyaki chicken, Korean chicken, pork ribs, all of it was dry and covered in sauce to disguise the dryness, possibly because it’s been sitting out for a while and reheated. The rice was soggy. Only nice dish was the tempura soft shell crab. The only plus side was the service which was friendly and attentive. Everyone else was ordering sushi, we did not because it was cold weather, maybe this is where we went wrong but probably will not come back here.

I have been going here for years and it is the best place for sushi in town! The staff and atmosphere is perfect whether going solo, as a couple of for a works night out and meal.

Visited a few times over the last couple of years and consistently enjoyable. I'm not a foodie but love trying new flavours and this is an atmospheric and not overly expensive place to indulge. My 11 year old also loves it, and not just because of the conveyor belt dishes!

Not the best Japanese style of restaurant that I’ve been to, yet it was nice. The view and vibe were fit for a beach city.

The weather was awful so there were only two other tables taken. The service was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and freshly prepared. It is another restaurant we will return to.

Overpriced, extremely mediocre food, everything was far too salty and virtually inedible. Desert came in a plastic pot as if they had bought it in from an airplane catering company and tasted awful. Would not go back and do not recommend. Also tried the sushi which is no better than any supermarket.

Great food ethics and incredibly delicious. I can't get enough. The staff are great, very helpful and informative, helping you choose from what could be a daunting menu for some. Decor is warm and snug, the atmosphere is lively with conversation, but feels private enough to talk freely. I always leave feeling full and very satisfied.

Wow. Blown away with the vegan options. Shared 3 big dishes all were awesome! Wish this was in my town. Will definitely visit next trip to Brighton!

I've been here twice, a month ago and recently. Both times ordered the boat and some sides. The food is just okay for that price, nothing special. Sashimi is okay, but the hosomaki... you just pay for the rice. At least the staff is nice and helpful.

Favourite restaurant in Brighton

I've been to Moshimo many times but was really disappointed with the most recent visit (at 730 on a Saturday night) as things seen to have gone downhill rapidly. We like to sit at the conveyor belt as it gives you a lot of choice and the chance to sample a lot of different things. This time there was almost nothing on the conveyor belt and nothing was added in the hour we were there - the couple next to us said it was the same for them. Disinterested staff didn't let us know this was happening - though they must have been aware but didn't mention it when they seated us there. The food we did order was OK but the length of time it took to bring our drinks and chopsticks was excessive. The few plates i did manage to try from the conveyor belt were lukewarm, which they shouldn't have been, or tasted like they had been there some time (the desserts) Usually the place is buzzing which is fun but the overloud repetitive music meant it was impossible to hear the people next to you properly let alone the server. All in all I'd be wary of dining there again

Really disappointing experience. 730 on a Saturday night and almost no sushi on the coveyor belt, and what there was was luke warm. Server's disinterested and impossible to attract their attention.

Beautiful place, with best sushi I've ever tasted in the Europe. Stuff is amazing, they are so friendly, kind, nice and fast. They are well organised and helpful. My husband and I really like this place. It's children friendly and pet friendly. Sometimes you have to book in advance but it's normal because they have great food so they have a lot visitors. I am so grateful that we found this place. It's our favorite restoran here.

Food was amazing, definitely a place to go if you want high quality sushi and don't mind paying the right price for it. Highly recommend the fried udon.

Great if you like your food to come out 1 minute after it’s ordered. But it is disgusting. Moshimo more like mushymo, mushiest rice with disgusting fish.

I only ever leave reviews when I feel strongly enough to do so. Having moved to Brighton from Hong Kong and spent a lot of time eating Japanese food in Japan I have been on the hunt for a good Japanese restaurant in Brighton- trusted the reviews and a blog I read on this restaurant- They are not accurate. The food here is terrible, the rice is completely over cooked leaving the Sushi damp and pappy to the taste. The Sushi is flavourless and loaded with mayonnaise and other condiments to hide how bad it is. If you are after value Sushi go to the super markets or Itsu/ Yo Sushi- They have a much higher turnover of covers giving you much fresher food than Mosimo where it is left to go around on a conveyor belt for hours on end. There are some good Japanese restaurants in Brighton but this is not one of them!

Nice casual place for dinner if you want a mix of Asian food to suit all tastes. We got a bunch of dishes to share and it was good fun. Service was really good. Our waitress was helpful and friendly.

Popped in here with the wife & kids. Great inside/outside room(s). The design is super cool & the kids loved the vibe. They have one of those to shushi conveyor thingys - which the kids enjoy. We also ordered from the menu. Highlight for me was the salmon sashimi Lunch for 4 people with a tip £85 - eat in style, eat here

Don’t like giving poor reviews but just went here for wedding anniversary meal and was really disappointing food. You could tell the fish was of good quality but the prep was poor and rice terrible - awful as cold stodgy - over cooked. Nice staff though. Perhaps it was the 5pm sitting and rice had been sitting out for a while and we were in between shift but was not good, hard to finish. I am sure we just were unlucky as reviews are good and we had personal recommendations too. But especially for a special occasion - and as sushi fans - we honestly have not had such a disappointing meal in years. We left super quickly and will be very slow to return.

No longer in love, but still like. This place is still popular but not how it was when it first opened. Update in response to owner's reply. ---- I didn't see the prawn tempura on the carousel and must have missed it in the menu - so I've deleted that comment. I'll stick with the fact I loved this place when it opened but it's not a patch on how it used to be. Certainly the mains seems to be smaller than they used to be, but as you say menus change and prices go up so I may be wrong. When I asked for the VEGGIE version of the eel don buri I was told that it was no longer available. You last paragraph confuses 7 years of not having eel with it never being available. It was the "broiled veggie eel" which I was missing.

The food here was amazing. The fish was very fresh and better than I expected. The fruit juice of the day was also a must try.

Very mediocre food. Canned tuna does not belong in sushi... Edit: Responding again because of how hilariously rude the owners still are in response to reviews they don't agree with. Also, how ridiculous to question the authenticity of a review because you see a name you don't recognise. It's been six years but I still remember how grim my meal was. The rice was soggy and overcooked and as stated in the original review: canned tuna mayo dressed up as tuna futomaki. Yes, it may be common to use tuna mayo in Japan, but only in packed lunches and 7-11s, not in restaurants.

Went for dinner with my family and we had a lovely time. Our waiter Pablo was absolutely lovely, making sure we were satisfied with our meal, and gave us good recommendations! All the staff were lovely and made the whole experience better.

Perfect place for some amazing fresh sushi. The service by Ash was fantastic and, no lie, the best sushi I have had in a long time. Opted for 50/50 regular and vegan and both were as good as each other. Fresh. Delicious. Definitely worth while.

Came here in a recommend and it was well worth it. Very attentive and friendly staff, who cannot do enough for you. Food is delicious and our only recommend is is you are not a fan of lot of sauce then ask for the sauce to be on the side - some dishes had too much sauce, but were delicious all the same. We joined their club so save 50% on Mondays when dining.

The restaurant location and ambience is nice - an open air, authentic Japanese sushi house feel, and friendly service, but that’s where the ‘good’ ends. The food is lacking any level of quality. Tuna tartare was bad smelling mush with a few spring onions mixed...

Amazing food with a neat gimmick of the conveyor belt. Food on the conveyor belt are quite pricy so I would suggest buying food on the menu instead as it is cheaper and tastier. The tempura ice cream is a must-try.

Not bad but at this price not great. Sashimi in particular was disappointing - tuna was a big, thick-cut chunk of cold boringness. Best dish was sea bass with lime.

Bought a couple of sushi trays to take away. By far the best sushi we've had for a long time. Lots of choices if you're vegan which I am. I had the Vegan Faeroes tray and it was delicious.

We’re a young couple - a walk-in service. The waitresses were rude, presuming we couldn’t afford to eat at the restaurant - the looks up and down made that apparent. The moment the restaurant manager was called to speak to us topped the initial experience off. The fact that we were perfectly able to afford to eat there was dampened by the front of house staff. The food was delicious, unfortunately we won’t be returning due to the service staff, which makes me furious. I have eaten sushi in restaurants where the bill was £200+ and this ranked above them. However, due to the snobbery and poor service we will not be returning. Very disappointed.

Would be perfect if the staff all had the same knowledge and not misled customers. Called up the restaurant to ask if the food can be cooked without alcohol for us and they said Yes over the phone. Come to actually arriving at the restaurant apparently now it’s not possible. Seriously sort out the staff you have and train them so they can answer the questions customers have accurately. Time wasted on my journey there.

Disappointing! The last couple of times I have been, it has been very poor food and very expensive. This time I could smell the toilets from our table.

If you love sushi better think twice before coming here. It is a "slightly better than YO sushi" but the food is just a waste of money. Bad. Stuff is trying their best though, nice crowd, the food just plain sad. Went here because didn't make a reservation in a nice sushi restaurant in time.
