We all had the tea & scone special offer which was excellent value. The scones were tasty and very light & there was copious tea. Very welcoming also. Although we didn’t use it, I noted the excellent gluten free options, we travel a lot with a friend who needs a GF menu & it’s so nice to see such a good selection, we will definitely recommend it

My wife and I were attracted to the offer of cream scone and tea for £5. We decided to visit and I asked the lady behind the counter if the offer could be the same with coffee instead of tea, as my wife does not drink tea. The lady abruptly said no, you would have to pay extra. At this point my thoughts were on the many cafes and restaurants we had visited previously which have gladly substituted coffee for tea at no extra charge. In fact even the Ritz in London does! So I reluctantly said ok I will pay the extra, as I didn’t want to spoil the day for my wife. I duly paid £11.50, £1.50 extra to have the coffee instead of tea! I returned to our table and looked on the menu, the usual price was £3.50 for the scone, tea £2.50 and Coffee £3.00. Saving a £1 on the tea and scone offer. I would have been more than happy to pay the extra 50p for the coffee, but an extra £1.50. I realise it was the usual menu price., but I thought it was really disappointing to exclude my wife who does not drink tea, from being able to take advantage of the offer. The result of this was the loss of potential repeat business from potential local customers who will never visit again.

We stumbled upon this café almost by accident, and were so glad that we did! We had the most delightful lunch here. The food was absolutely delicious; I can particularly highly recommend the ham and mozzarella paninis, which were warmed to perfection! All of the food was beautifully presented and there was plenty of choice, including a variety of vegetarian options. The food and drinks were all excellent value, and the wide variety of home-baked cakes looked absolutely delicious! There was a lovely, relaxed atmosphere in the café, and the decor was very homely, giving it a cosy feel. The highlight of the visit by far, though, had to be the delightful staff, who went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We had such a lovely meal and will definitely be making a beeline for Morwen Le Faye the next time we visit Robin Hood's Bay!

My wife and I visited after seeing a sign scribbled on a chalk board during the day. It's an innovative little pop-up based in the vaults under Scarborough Market Hall, where there are craft and vintage shops by day. Manned by owner Paul who is very knowledgeable and chatty, we were treated to some superbly kept wines in a quietly informal atmosphere. It's a far cry from the hoi-polloi and bustle of Scarborough drinking holes, and one which must be prized. Top work, we'll be back.
