We visited Morton’s recently and the service was very poor - not what it used to be at all. We sat outside with our toddlers, which is a lovely clean space with lots of available seating (Monday afternoon). However, be prepared to be an inconvenience to the waitresses if sitting outdoors. We arrived at 12:10 and 20mins later someone came to take our drinks order (on requesting they do so after being ignored) she understood that we’d also like food but said we couldn’t order yet - another 35mins went by (gone 1pm) and we again requested to order food/ see what the wait would be, which was the standard 25/30mins. However after already being there for an hour and had not put the food order in, we decided to leave. Our pot of tea for two was on the pricey side of £6!! The terrible service has really put us off and we won’t be returning.

I have visited Mortons many times and generally received good food and good service, however this has not been the case on my last few visits and I feel that the last one was so bad that I need to write a review because they need to take note of what people are saying. I visited on a Thursday for lunch arrived around midday. It wasn’t overly busy but we were told we couldn’t order our food straight away which was fine as people had arrived before was needed to order first. I thought this were a rather bizarre ruling if people aren’t ready to order why can’t other tables order before them but accepted it anyway. The girl that served us I wouldn’t say was rude, but she wasn’t particularly friendly either. Our food arrived and mine was stone cold literally stone cold. It was also overcooked and rock hard. I called a member of staff over the man was very apologetic and said he would get me a fresh meal however I was sent back the same meal that had obviously been reheated. I knew it was the same meal because I broke a piece off of the burger to realise it was stone cold and rock hard. However, when I spoke to the girl who served his initially about it and I said this is the same meal but reheated she basically argued with me that it wasn’t. I said I wasn’t going to stand and discuss it, I wanted a fresh meal. She was very rude and needs . I did receive a fresh meal but by the time mine came the friend I was with had finished their meal so it’s hardly the same eating on your own the girl that then served us was very polite and apologetic about what had happened and took some drinks off the bill for what she said was a misunderstanding? It wasn’t a misunderstanding my meal was stone cold and and it wasn’t dealt with correctly. I understand these things happen but it was the attitude of some of the staff that made me so cross. I didn’t feel we were apologised to properly and I don’t feel that enough was done to rectify the situation. I do feel that Morton’s need to take note and realise that people will stop going if they receive poor service & poor food.

Poor customer service didn’t receive service offered. Having been advised last food orders 3pm to finish by 5pm. Turned away and told they’d reached capacity. Place was nearly empty. No apology for misinformation or visibly credible reason for turning us away. Having travelled 30 mins plus to get there and being hungry not impressed. We won’t return.

First time visit - Daughters choice for her birthday! Delicious food, pleasant staff and in nice surroundings. My daughter had the burger; clean and fresh and packed with flavour- the fries were great as well. I went with the ‘stoupe’ - wasn’t sure what to expect, but wasn’t disappointed, the meatballs were full of flavour and completed the dish - again, clean and fresh tasting. Couldn’t help but have the mac, cheese & truffle side - truffle can be quite strong, but this was perfect, just the right level - yet again, so clean. Just one gripe, you can’t book, not a problem on this occasion, but could prove disappointing if you’ve travelled a distance and they are full. Will definitely visit again

We go to Morton’s quiet regular however today we just wanted muffin with poached egg which was provided as we didn’t want everything else on paying the bill we were informed that you have got to pay for the spinach mushroom and bacon and two eggs at the cost of £13 had this been told to us we would have just had a crosient as was having dinner at home at 1.0clock so didn’t want much We pointed this out and was told you have to pay for everything so on my return home I phoned up and again queried this to be told you could have had poached egg on sour dough at a price of £11 so they would refund the £2 however looking on there website it says 2 eggs on toast £8.50 I said well I think it’s terrible to charge £13 for one egg on a muffin and we would not ever go to there place again which they clearly not bothered So anyone using there place be aware of you have got to pay full price for what you don’t want as they will NOT tell you that So disappointed and certainly will not return or tell any of my friend to come

Lovely Bistro. Roaring log fire. We went for Sunday lunch. The lamb was gorgeous, very tender. The vegetables were served separately so great for me as I am a small eater and I could take as little as I needed without the embarrassment of leaving half a plate of food. Choice of about 6 desserts. Staff very pleasant.

Well a big gang of us had the room at the back for a Sunday lunch, food awesome, service great - overall, I’d go back!!! We had all pre booked the food and it was swiftly bought out once we’d all got there, roast lamb was tops!!! Roast potatoes and veg great!!! Fruit crumble and custard finished it off nicely…. I’d go back - and it’s not near to me!!!

We booked for Sunday lunch to celebrate a birthday. The table wasn't ready for us as the previous diners were lingering but that wasn't a problem. The food was lovely but the Yorkshire puddings were tiny and we needed more vegetables. We were presented with a tiny bowl of each vegetable between 4 of us, so 2 of each between 8 of us. However when requested we did get given more. My biggest concern was that, at the price point of this restaurant, I would have expected the staff to be better trained. The girl that laid our table handled the cutlery by the tines and blades, the lad that brought the water glasses handed them out with his fingers inside the glasses and none of them, apart from the supervisor ,seemed able to clear the dishes efficiently. To add insult to injury, our bill was incorrect, twice. We had been charged for the wine etc of the previous occupants of our table. The whole place stinks of woodsmoke from the fire and yet we were cold from the draught of the door and there was another constant draught around our legs. Having said all that, the toilets are beautifully decorated. So, in summary, a few tweaks and some staff training could make this a better all round experience.

We have been many many times because we love the breakfasts, the ambience etc, but in those many many times have been turned away 4 times. I know walk-in numbers can't be controlled but the excuses always seem to be lame. The last excuse took the biscuit 'we've already cooked enough breakfasts this morning so we've stopped cooking' This despite being half an hour from their advertised cut off time, an car-park with plenty of space (usually a good indicator) empty tables and delivered with what bordered on glee. If excuses are required they need more professional ones! We won't be returning

This is my second visit for Sunday lunch (the first being in September) and I have to say it has improved from a 4 to a 5. I can't fault the food at all, the roasties were just right, the cauliflower cheese absolutely spot on and there was plenty of meat. Even the vegetarian option got a thumbs up from the other half.

First impressions were good as the place has been very tastefully renovated. However this must be the only bistro in the world that does not serve starters?? For a bistro the wine prices are extremely high(£27 entry level). Now to the food..we ordered the Christmas Posh Lunch and the steak. My father requested he'd rather have chips than the potatoes and I asked if I could replace the dirty fries with the same. The waiter took the order and then returned from the kitchen to say that we could not replace the sides with chips??We then said okay we'll order two sides of chips then,to which he replied there will be a £5 surcharge each for this!! We then ordered two sweets which were clearly bought in and were pretty bland. The bill(for average food) came to £92.2 mains plus supplements, bottle of wine and water plus 2 deserts. To summarise this is an amateur production on a professional stage. We will not be returning .

I have visited Morton’s on many occasions & it has mainly been very good but the last couple of visits today in particular have been quite poor. The service today was not the best & the food below average. We ordered 2 pizzas & one fries, the fries were cold & had to be returned & so did one of the pizzas. The fries were brought out quickly however the pizza took ages it was then brought out with no apology for any inconvenience at all. The girl who had long brown hair tied in a ponytail in fact slammed down the pizza on the table, we were quite taken back. I had finished my meal & the fries that we ordered between us to go with the pizzas had been finished due to the long wait. When leaving the restaurant we were asked if everything had been ok I said it wasn’t the best & explained what happened & she just said sorry to hear that. I do feel considering we basically ate separately some kind of discount should have been given for the inconvenience & for good customer service. Very disappointed & will not be in a hurry to revisit. Just because Morton’s is popular doesn’t mean they shouldn’t look after their customers & give good customer service.

This is a hidden gem of a restaurant. So cosy, so friendly and with such top quality food. We regularly come for breakfast with our children and always leave happy with the food, atmosphere and service. You won’t be disappointed!

Whether for a tasty breakfast or lunch would highly recommend. We were pre-warned there might be a short wait for breakfast, but they sat us down had our order and served very quickly. Polite and courteous staff, and the food was excellent. Full cooked breakfast was nicely filling good quality meat products, well presented and the beans were clearly not your average heinz, they were butter beans in a slightly herby tomato sauce clearly made on sight and added something special to an already excellent breakfast. Wife had the buttermilk pancakes and we both had fresh coffee and fresh crossaint available when we came in, cannot fault the cleanliness and I can only gripe that the car park is small, but you have space to park on the high street if it is full. We went for an anniversary breakfast as I drive past sometimes and was curious. Will definitely be going back with family possibly for Sunday lunch.

Really wanted to try Mortons after 2 people recommended it. Sadly disappointed, with the service and food. I chose a dish which was served on a board, unfortunately the salad just fell on the table because there wasn't enough space on the board to eat it. I requested a side plate. The grilled chicken was over cooked and dry. The flatbread was stale. My Aunts meal was okay, however the accompanying vegetables / green beans were undercooked. The waiting staff did not come to the table to see if everything was to our satisfaction or if we needed anything else such as a dessert or further drinks. I didn't see them go to any table to do a check during the time we were there. Very disappointing visit, I wouldn't go back. Shame because the Bistro was designed really well.

Mortons is a lovely place, whether you sit inside or outside, and the staff are really pleasant. We have been plenty of times and will return. The reason for the lower rating is because we feel that it needs a few tweaks to the lunch menu and the food: 1.) The lunch menu is geared predominantly to the larger plate / appetite. It would be great to have a handful of simple quality sandwiches to choose from as well, e.g. tuna, local ham and cheese with a touch of salad, but WITHOUT chips. 2.) I had a margherita pizza. Well made but completely overpowered by garlic which was the only lingering taste, not the tomato and cheese. I have never had that much garlic in a simple margherita before, even in Italy. Didn't enjoy it. Please keep the ingredients simple and tasty. 3.) Please keep some teabags in. We don't all like the taste of brewed loose leaf tea. 4.) Breakfast is great. Certainly worth going.

Arrived today at approx 11-15 just as a couple in front of us were being seated and waitress kindly advised I’ll just seat these a be back in a minute. Staff passed back in front of us for a further 10 minutes each time we were either ignored or staff advised will be with you shortly, finally after standing for 15 minutes we were advised we are now full . Astonished to be left for this long to then be told you were full with no one else arriving? Third time now turned away and this time was unacceptable to be advised after a long wait, we will not be back.

Service was awful when visiting for breakfast. We decided to sit outside, and was told it would be about a 10 minute wait as they were running abit behind. Half an hour later we were still waiting to be served, when we pulled someone over they said we weren’t on their list of tables. We ordered a latte with a milk alternative due to an intolerance, when the drink arrived we asked which one was the alternative and was told it’s not, as they don’t have any. After then we finally managed to order and receive food, it came with bits missing which we then had to ask for. Finally, when we asked for the bill we were forgotten about for another half an hour until we got bored of waiting.

Always a nice spot for coffee or a meal, nice tables inside and out. Good service always, but always seems to be an issue switching from breakfast to lunch menu, and the menus don’t change very often but one of the places around.

No welcome but was welcomed by a Body odour smell. No toilet seat on the ladies toilet. You need to order food 48 hours before. Wrong food came out even though it was pre ordered. This pub should be packed as it's beautiful just the wrong people running it. Avoid if you want a friendly welcome. Your more of an hindrance to them.

Lovely pub with a nice relaxed atmosphere. The staff are fantastic and really welcoming and the food is the best part of all of it! 100% recommend!

I found The Queen's Head to be quite underwhelming and not at all reflective of the social media hype surrounding it. The food was average at best—not bad, but certainly nothing special or worth going out of your way for. The pub was almost empty during our visit, which left it lacking any real atmosphere or buzz. While it's a dog-friendly spot, which is a nice touch, there are plenty of other pubs nearby that offer a livelier vibe and far better food. Overall, it didn’t live up to expectations.
